It’s Friday the 13th! It’s ten thousand degrees out, but it’s still Friday the 13th! Though the collective attention of everyone seems to be focused on that The Happening movie, I dare declare that M. Night Shablahblahyaha’s FIRST R-RATED MOVIE, FIRST R-RATED MOVIE EVER, HOLY FLAMING TABLES, FIRST R-RATED MOVIE IN THE HISTORY OF M. NIGHT SHYAMALAN, IT’S M. NIGHT’S FIRST FORAY INTO R-RATED MOTION PICTURE MAKING, IT’S
M. NIGHT SHYAMALAN’S FIRST R-RATED MOVIE
Ah fuck that and fuck M. Night Shyamalan. Friday the 13th will always belong to Jason Voorhees. Camp Crystal Lake’s number one son isn’t one for abject chatting, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he broke his silence with a bloody, obscenity-laced tirade about how the world completely neglected to kiss his feet on this, his most holy day. Seriously, I just went through the TV listings, and there isn’t a single F13 movie being played on any channel tonight. Not even a shitty channel. I could watch seventy-four episodes of Everybody Loves Raymond, but no Jason. On Friday the God Damned 13th. Criminal. Criminal, cock-like behavior from those responsible.
In lieu of watching Jason tear apart happy campers, I provide consolation in the form of a Matchbox car with a thirty-seven foot Jason Voorhees attacking it.
From Matchbox’s 1999 Character Car Collection, it’s the Friday the 13th…uh, character car. Basically, Matchbox took a varied and surprising bunch of movies (everything from A Nightmare On Elm Street to The Mask), and celebrated them with movie-themed Matchbox cars topped with movie-themed PVC-style figurines. And thus we now know the definitive halfway point between stupid and awesome.
The results were largely ridiculous, but on a night when I can’t even persuade AMC to show me the cut-down version of the famous scene from F13 Part V where the Michael Jackson knockoff sings a duet with his girlfriend while shitting in an outhouse, I’ll take what I can get.
The toy provides an unintended montage of Jason’s many movies. The package photo depicts him as he was seen in Jason Goes To Hell, but the figure shown above was clearly inspired by Jason’s appearance in Friday the 13th: Part 3. I understand that this is of little consequence to you, but I didn’t feel right not pointing it out. Furthering the issue is the fact that a Part 3 Jason is shown attacking a “Camp Counselor” truck, even though there were no counselors in that movie. Okay, now I’m just being a brat.
I was saddened to find out that Jason is permanently attached to the Matchbox car, but I suppose it’s for the best considering that he wasn’t constructed to stand upright without it. All told, I’m kind of glad to own this thing, though I’m not sure why I do or how it even got into my office. Maybe I’m just blocking out the memory of paying 15 bucks on eBay to have a forty-cent Matchbox car mailed to me via USPS Priority Mail.
Happy Friday the 13th. Pop in the DVDs if you have ‘em. Check out X-E’s old-to-older collection of Jason-related articles with the conveniently underlined links below:
I’ve been saying fuck M. Night Shyamalan for a long time.

Happy F13! Any marathons on tonight? I’m with you on the sun thing. Been record heat here the past month. 100 degrees for the most part Ready for fall and Halloween.
No linkage to the great F13 blogs last year? Then again, it wouldn’t make sense unless you were watching the movies while simultaneously reading them. Kinda like Rifftrax.
From the last blog: I met the Iron Shiek earlier! He was awesome, and even got a picture with him.
Yeah this isn’t such a great start of the weekend. No F13 on TV, I’m still hanging onto the last of this cold, and I spent yet ANOTHER fucking Friday dialing up all my friends asking if they want to go adventuring tomorrow, and all of them are working. WTF am I supposed to do, hop a bus to AC alone?!
I’m glad I’m not the only one to think that the Happening commercials were weird to point out that its R-rated. Who gives a fuck? He just hasn’t been the same since Mel Gibson raped him during the filming of Signs. Alien probe he said! Be good research for the movie he said! That poor, poor anal raped bastard.
I hate it that people keep trying to sell me on this movie by telling me it’s rated R. So effin what. I find his stuff to be too predictable at this point besides his obvious attempt to do otherwise. Like Robot Chicken said: “What a twist!”
I’ll be seeing Hulk before the weekend is over. After which I’ll feel an immediate need to go out and buy those vamped up, softer, awesomer Hulk hands I keep seeing everywhere and then Hulk smash fucking everything including old ladies, small mammals, and beach balls.
Happy Friday the 13th. I hope everyone’s rocking some air conditioning at full blast.
I was called in early and spent most of the day at work, which was no big deal since I didn’t have any plans for this morning anyway. When I came out, it was pleasantly in the upper 70s, with a nice breeze.
MATT….I didn’t bother to check the previous comments, but let me know if you want me to scan the note book cover with the Jamesway Price tag on it.
I have to scan it anyway to send to label scar or one of the other retail nostalgia sites.

Man, I just realized that I have nobody to watch horror with…the boyfriend thinks its a waste of time, and the girlfriends are ‘too scared’ - they wouldn’t even go to see PG-13 films with me that looked ’scary’ to them. Horror alone sucks. Now I’m bummed right out.
I think I will give M.Night ONE LAST CHANCE mostly because I love Marky Mark. This is it, though. I still haven’t forgiven him for getting all preachy in Signs.

Well, guess i get the award for lamest Friday the 13th. I ordered the box set, got it in the mail, and promptly left it packed in a box. I could be watching Friday 13th goodness, but no, I’m typing instead.
i totally agree, any movie with marky mark cant be all bad. i will proclaim with no shame that i used to decorate my bedroom walls with his calvin klein magazine ads.
i got married on friday, october 13th 2006, so today is my 20 month wedding anniversary. my husband doesnt find that at all interesting.
For some reason Friday the 13th is a good day for me. For example: I just bought a new Zippo because they were ridiculously cheap at Walgreen’s and I had a $5 off coupon. For as much as I’d like to watch some movies, I’m way to tired and I’m giving the finger to the rain and flooding in Iowa as well as the sun for making it humid.

I actually wish it was hotter, I wanna go skinny dipping.
You know what? I’ve never actually seen the entire first F13 movie. In fact, I saw the most of it when we were watching it here last year, but missed the first half or so….
I don’t like the first F13 movie - it totally get chucked from my marathons despite loving Betsy. Just too old-feeling for my tastes, no Jason, gross snake kill scene, etc.
The where should I start? I remember you talking about the one with the arrow or something going through a head as being really fun…sadly, the only one’s I’ve seen all the way through are “Takes Manhattan” and “Goes to Hell”…

I actually have yet to watch any F13 movie all the way through. I was waiting in line at the Kwik-E-Mart on epic thread night so I missed out. I flove that Alice Cooper song though, and sing it frequently. I can’t believe they’re not playing any of the movies tonight!!!
Besides the “first R-rated movie” bit, the funniest bit about the Happening commercials is where they say “From the director of The Sixth Sense and Signs”. No mention of his two MOST RECENT movies, huh? Big show of faith, there.
Happy Friday everybody!
I spent last Friday the 13th watching these movies and reading the comments with you guys {even though I didnt participate} and was eagerly awaiting tonight to do the same….and all of a sudden the tv executives dont care about it anymore. I figured there had to be something somewhere. USA, AMC, SPIKE, FX, someone had to be showing a F13 movie. And they are nowhere to be found. What a depressing evening.
Dude. Thank you for posting tonight. I have been reading your blogs for a very long time…years…and I am so happy that you are still rockin on. You are a major inspiration to a lot of writers out there.
Am I the only one that clicked on the 666 link? Man behind the mask is a brilliant song. Kep on rocking man. And for all of you that didn’t click on the 666 link….click on it and download one of the coolest songs to come out of the 80’s.

I have this awful Maxine desk calendar at work that I inherited because I never bothered to buy a better one. The cartoons are so painfully unfunny. Anyway, today’s chuckle fest was “No matter how many channels you have, the only thing good on will be on a channel you don’t have!”. And I thought that was a weird choice for Friday the 13th, but as it turns out…luckily thanks to the wonders of YouTube and copyright infringement I’m all set to fire up Part 6.
Hey Matt, is the Halloween jukebox still up somewhere it will make up somewhat for the lack of horror films tonight.

Oh yeah, M. Night Shamalamadingdong. Eh, I liked The Sixth Sense a lot, but other than that his movies have disappointed me greatly. Lady in the Water was a piece of trash, and ever since then I haven’t wanted to see any more of his movies. Though a lot of people have said that Unbreakable is good.
Anyway, it’s 70 degrees and stormy here. It was cloudy all day. Pretty appropriate for Friday the 13th, I guess. XD

I loved Unbreakable and Signs, and I like the Sixth Sense. I remember being super excited about and then so disappointed by The Village. Maybe it would hold up if I watched it again but it was just so ham-handed…and then he did that SciFi channel stuff and it just came off as so pretentious. I never got around to seeing LitW. It would take Iron Man level word of mouth to get me to see this new one, I think.
Too bad, Matt. Early things are the worst kind of things.
Well, I just got done watchin F13 part 3 and listenin to he’s back the man behind the mask by Alice cooper ! All in all , I had a GREAT Friday the 13th ! =D

And doho. do me a favor, when I eventually come back from the dead(it could happen) at least have the courtesy to tell me I have worms all over my face.
Long time no post, I know…but I have been going through my comics lately deciding on their various fates, and came across something I thought Matt or someone else here would be interested in. A copy of Thundercats Magazine from Spring 1988. Its in good condition, all intact including the Tygra/Monkian poster that’s also the cover. Whoever wants it can have it for $5 including postage.
I like Unbreakable and the Sixth Sense (a well-known psychic once said that that’s exactly how she sees), but the ending of Signs was a disappointment.

My cable is fucked–for some reason I can either have cable TV or the internet (and my phone, which is a VOIP line) but not both at the same time–so I won’t be watching TV. But I did try playing the NES Friday the 13th game. Does anybody remember it? And if you do recall it, did anyone ever finish it? Hey, everyone. It’s been a very long time since I’ve posted here. I know a lot of people are down on M. Night Shyamalan after Lady in the Water. In fact, I almost talked myself into seeing The Happening today, but then I just read the synopsis on Wikipedia instead. I don’t want to give anything away for those who might possibly be interested, but it sounds like the movie is sheer crap. I think Shyamalan has bought into the hype that surrounded him following The Sixth Sense. It was enough to make Newsweek proclaim him “the new Spielberg”.
At this point, I would like to make a small confession: Unlike the rest of our planet, I have never seen The Sixth Sense. Now, I’m not sure I even want to anymore.

I’ve totally neglected to throw on Part 6, so instead I will offer random trivia about the movie:
- Tommy Jarvis is the name of the lead character, and this was the third person to play him. The first was a young Corey Feldman. The second was nobody you have ever heard of or will hear of again.
- This film is generally considered the launching point for the supernatural Jason we now know today. I prefer the Jason from 2-4, but yeah.
Should she really say “Hairy turn” when his head is where it is?

Some notes: Apparently the director was both a gorehound and a bit of a pervert, there’s a lot of cut sex and a ton of cut gore. The movie ratings folks were pissed because they gave Part IV a generous R thinking they wouldn’t have to deal with this anymore, so when they came back for Part V, the censoring was brutal.

I didn’t watch any Jason movies but I watched a ton of Street Fighter anime!
I watched a few eps of SF2v in the morning and the Street Fighter Zero movie at night. I guess spending F13 with Ryu and co. isn’t too bad. And hey, Vega (or Balrog in Japan) is a little bit like Jason.
This Friday the 13th was also my Mother’s birthday. She had a great time.

I did really like the movie for the most part and I knew what was coming. Still, go back to the reveal scene and add this sound effect.
I could do another one but it would be irresponsible of me to.
So I’m debating it. Let’s take a 10 minute break either way.

That ending was very long and wtf. I liked the movie in general though.
I could probably hang in for another one, whichever y’all pick.
I will make it as far as I can, either due to sleep or due to my brain trying to kill itself so it doesn’t have to process these damn movies any longer.
I just got back from the local watering hole so I’ve not been following the movie but I just read over the comments and can’t believe that Vince McMahon was brought into this. Brilliant. The fact that such a character could be referenced into anything is ridiculously great!
I too have early family stuff, that’s why I’m up at 3:20… poor choices. :/
Just got done watchin part 5 , and I LOVED IT !!=) I think i’ll squeeze in part 6 and FINALLY call it a night ! Of course by the time i’m done watchin 6 it’ll be mornin, but eh, that’s OK, cause I don’t have nothin to do. yipeeee !!! Man, I so wanted to rent some Jason movies tonight, or at least watch my Freddie box set, but the hubby won out and we ended up renting Semi-Pro (which, might I add, is one of Will Ferrel’s worst yet). I totally wanted to get in the spirit of Friday the 13th, but nobody around me cared. My husband hates horror movies, says they are too predictable, so that’s how we ended up with a comedy. On Friday the 13th!
I’m up for some more F13 action tonight….are you watching it on youtube?
I woulda joined you’se last night I had a gall bladder attack and ended up in the hospital for a few hours….I gotta go on my own for an ultra sound, because they don’t do them after 10 pm or some shit.

Yeah the mask is pretty awesome, they stuck to the original idea pretty well.
The only way they could’ve made it better was if they put Jason in a dapper suit, maybe with a nice tophat and machete cuff-links, It’s fun to dress up.
Compensated for the dearth of horror flicks last night by watching Nightmare on Elm Street 3 and Halloween H20. What a combo.

But it was lots of fun.

Well, I just got done watching “The Happenning”. If your even remotely interested in this one, do yourself a favor, save your money and go see something else. That movie was a huge steaming pile of crap!
So, I decided to save gas today and walk to my mom’s house to visit. She lives about a 10-15 minute drive from me. It took me 2 hours! I got my weekend workout in this morning. Now, to figure out what to do tonight.
Ah, I was quite upset as well when discovered there were no F13 movies playing on AMC, or any other movie channel for that matter. I got stuck with Magic with Anthony Hopkins, which wasn’t bad by the way.

DC: i wish i could have went on a walk today.. - i’ve been stuck here at work since 12PM..
RTW: That sucks. I don’t work weekends, woohoo! But, I go see my mom every Sat. and I figured it was a nice morning so, why not walk. She thinks I’m crazy that I took a 2 hour walk. I might be crazy, but the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree!
not sure what happened to the rest of that message!
but, what i was trying to say, was if you ever take that long walk again.. bring a digital camera, snap some pictures, and turn it into a blog post.. - i think that’d be pretty cool..
That sounds like a good idea. I thought about it this morning, but I was more focused on how long it would take since this is the first time I ever walked to my mom’s house.
Just got done watchin part 8. I won’t agree to anythin dohopoki cause I LOVE Jason Goes to Hell. =) Infact i’m poppin it in right now. If this turns out to be the SNT thread , then HAPPY SNT YA’LL !!! =)

So I come home from books a million, open the gate to my back porch…and it gets caught on a baby bird that had fallen from the tree. :( It was still alive. I looked for the nest, but couldn’t find it (and wouldn’t have been able to reach it anyway…).
I scooped him into a garden shovel and moved him to underneath the tree (so I could close the gate). I’ve been peeking out the window every now and then but he’s still there so momma hasn’t come to get him yet.
I have a bad feeling I’m going to have to pick up the dead bird tomorrow morning.

I don’t like the first F13 movie - it totally get chucked from my marathons despite loving Betsy. Just too old-feeling for my tastes, no Jason, gross snake kill scene, etc.
Totally agree - I can’t stand the first movie. I own 2-7(of the “original series) because 1 and 8 are just terrible. I think that 8 is more enjoyable than the original - at least you get to see someone’s head knocked off in that one, and toxic waste is always a plus.
Cameron, I’ve seen at least three dead baby birds in the parking lot of our apartment complex. It makes me sad. ._. Usually someone ends up moving them, which is nice because then I don’t have to do it.
Just because the killer isn’t wearing his “Jason suit” until the end doesn’t mean it wasn’t a good horror film.
It had the necronomicon from Evil Dead and Freddy’s… err, “glove”… from A Nightmare on Elm Street. What more do you want?
Oh, and, if this is it… happy SNT y’all!

@ 06/14/2008 10:41 PM EDT
True but I think the fact that it was boring as hell and took 40 minutes to really get into the actual plot, which happened to be 40 minutes of uninteresting plot didn’t help it be a good horror film.

doho…
C’mon, that opening scene where Jason gets lit up, and blown apart, is what we were all wishing would happen during the first 8 films in the series. We were all thinking, “OK, why the f*** don’t the authorities just surround the camp, get some serious firepower, and light the S.O.B. up?”
Yes, it was silly… but it was fun.
Also, how can you go wrong with Stephen Williams cracking fingers?
Another point, perhaps I was primed to enjoy any decent Friday flick considering it had been awhile since the last, and the last… was freakin’ Jason Takes Manhattan.

Hey check this out… I’m posting on the Saturday night thread while it’s still technically Saturday night! Usually I’m too busy to be bothered, but my girlfriend is visiting her folks tonight.
Also, how can you go wrong with Stephen Williams cracking fingers?
Okay, first I’ll address this and tell you exactly how it can go wrong. I am an absolute pussy when it comes to finger pain on film. I can’t watch them get broke, get cut off, have a nail put through them or watch Major Payne.
Secondly, I liked the opening scene. You might even say I liked the entire concept of the film but it just wasn’t done very well. While I don’t protest them trying to make something deeper in terms of plot compared to the previous movies, it came at the expense of anything fun.

The only 2 things I can get behind in Jason goes to hell are:
The diner workers.
The black tongue/goo/slug things that “Jason” uses to commandeer a new body.
Beyond that I just thought it was a really poor way to “end” a great franchise.

And none of those pussy fat rubber ones either! I’m talking about the real deal tough as nails wood ones! I’m talking about those cats that wouldn’t cop out when there was danger all about! I’m talking about sleep dammit! I NEED SLEEP
So I take it you already saw them all? I haven’t seen past what Adult Swim has played. I was getting the manga, but stopped because the anime were getting way past what I was reading.

collecting manga gets expensive after a while too, plus a lot of them only come out like every 6 months (I’m looking at you Fruits Basket) factor in that what we have volume 10 of, Japan has volume 300 of, you won’t see the last Deathnote manga here until way after we’ve all been killed by SkyNet
who knows, Near has a whole bunch of bad-ass toys.
I watched the last half of the last season online after the only station who showed it here decided to have me consider hunting them down when they started the series from the beginning.
I liked the subbed version so much I decided to watch the whole shebang again un-dubbed, you should give it a shot.

Also, speaking of snt babies…there should be a muppet museum. I want to see the little baby miss piggy from Muppets Take Manhattan. LOVE that movie!
It would have a huge theater like from The Muppet Show, and a sesame street wing as well! ( and elmo would be banned…as well as any character from 93 forward)

flabslapperYeah, I was really into manga a while back, but like you said, 4 million volumes does get expensive, and the waiting drives me insane. This whole Geneon thing has me super pissed, too. I’m a huge Hellsing fan, and I felt like my heart was ripped out when I realized I wouldn’t see past volume 3 for a long time…
JoshC - I’m glad you got into it. I consider it to really be one of the most intriguing and best thought out animes I’ve ever seen. Blows me away, every time.
Guess I should’ve offered Neg some money, too…
mandy_reeves - I’ll have to look into that anime - I’ve never heard of it. And yesss, a muppet museum would be bad ass, and I agree on the banning of Elmo, and such others. I would consider stealing me a Robin.

Aww, I was hoping someone else would play it… but that’s ok - I kinda knew deep down that no one (at least here now) did.
ULTRAMAN - Nah, you don’t have to play it constantly… it just seems that way at first, because you get obsessed pretty fast with leveling cause it’s SO EASY… but then it starts to get tougher, more of a challenge, and more addicting. You can never really fall behind because the quests will still be there, and there will always be noobs lower than you. Hell, my characters are only 56 and 44 and I’m havin’ a blast.

Speakin of Monopoly, it’s my fav board ever. Yeah, it can be long, but iv’e managed to finish EVERY game iv’e EVER played ! The few times I didn’t complete the game normaly, I just decided on a winner with whoever I was playin, based on whoever had the most money. The longest game I ever played was WELL over 4 hours ! SERIOUSLY ! In fact, I think i’ll go reread that article Matt wrote a while ago about Monopoly.

It does look like we’re starting to need more community organization though. I wouldn’t want to see forums here but a way for us to organize movie nights and friend code swapping would be a nice addon.

IM wouldn’t be any fun. X-E’s community is great because it’s a community on X-E.
Well it’s always tough to finish a game of strip Monopoly, because the players tend to get distracted before the end.
Went to see Hulk tonight. Was a millions times awesomer than I thought it would be. But now I have popcorn kernels stuck in the back of my throat. And a tummy ache.
The strip monopoly I know involves selling your clothes for money when you need it and once you lose, you remain naked till the game is over entirely.
Also, why did I think that link was going somewhere naughty? I didn’t read what you said wrong or anything…

does anybody have a drive-in movie theater in their area? - we’ve got one nearby that’s still operating.. - i’m going to go next week for a triple-header of Wall-E, Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, and Get Smart..
i have fond memories of seeing a lot of great ’80’s flicks there.. - the double feature of Beetlejuice and Weekend at Bernie’s comes to mind.. - and i can’t withhold the fact i went with my mom to see Titantic and White Man Can’t Jump.. - seriously..
Last Drive-In movie I saw was Ghostbusters 2. They all went out years ago but I get the impression a comeback is on the rise.

On the subject of drive-ins, there used to be a hell of a lot of them around here in MD. Now about 90% of them are housing developments or shopping centers now. There is one big one left I know of, but to be honest the last time I went to a drive-in was when I was a little kid. There used to be several near my house we used to drive by all the time, but they’re all gone now. I really wish I could remember what I saw the last time I went, but I honestly can’t. I think I was more interested in playing with my Star Wars figures in the back of the car.

Forgot to get my Dad a Father’s Day gift. Doh! Maybe I’ll burn him a CD of cool songs.
Last night I watched a Homestar Runner DVD - Everything Else Vol. 3. I bought Strong Bad Email Disk 4 for the third time. The first one I got when it came out. Left it at a friend’s house in another city so I got another one. The friend sent the first one back. Two years later, I buy it again because I forgot I had two copies already. Now I have three. Does anyone want one of my extra copies?
Here’s my poll answers…

4 websites you visit daily: X-E (Hourly is more like it), Fark, TUAW, Flickr.
4 favorite foods: Fried Chicken (in the form of Chicken Strips), Kitok Oriental Fries (it’s a local Korean place), Kolaches, and…oh, let’s say Pizza.

So there’s my survey answers. Pretty boring, I guess.
As for Drive-Ins: We have one about 30 minutes from here that is OK. Only been there once, though. However, when I went to Roswell, NM for a New Beetle car show the last few years in the summer, we always went to Carlsbad to the drive in they had there. We got to see a screening of Herbie goes Bananas there one year, and the next year, we worked out a deal with Disney to screen “Herbie Fully Loaded” a day before it was released in theatres. Seeing a VW film whilst sitting in your bug with a hundred other VW nuts is a pretty awesome experience.

Just wanted to come by and wish any of the dad’s here a Happy Father’s Day. My daddy passed away 7 years ago and this day still bums me out. So, I won’t be online today. Hope it’s a good day for everyone else.
And sorry, didn’t mean to be a downer. I’ll be back tomorrow and back to my normal self.
DC: sorry to hear about your loss.. - my dad’s currently going through a bit of crisis himself, with his own father being forcefully put into a home last week.. - to make matters worse, my grandma is suffering from dementia.. and won’t let my dad leave her side..
ah! - but, alas.. enough downers for one afternoon.. - this is X-E.. - we should be talking about baby Rowlf, his piano, and other such assorted pop culture randomness..
Speaking of pop culture randomness, you know what all this great summer weather has been giving me urge to do lately? Watch the Pete and Pete summer special. TAAASSSTTEEEEEEE!!!
Mystie: indeed! - if only every neighborhood had their very own Mr. Tastee.. - we had an ice cream truck during the hot summer months.. - i’d usually get a Super Mario bar with ice cream eyeballs.. or a Sno Cone.. - nowadays there’s one truck with a giant airbrushed image of Hulk and Spider-Man riding motorcycles on the side of it i’ll occasionally see..
4 movies you can always watch: Empire Strikes Back,Jaws,Cowboy Bebop The Movie,Godzilla vs. Megalon
4 shows you like to watch: Simpsons,Ninja Warrior,American Gladiators, can’t really think of any others. I don’t really watch TV. I guess Unbeatable Bansuke.

Dude, Big O IS awesome. I’m actually surprised that so many people here seem to like that series.
I’m actually a pretty big anime fan, but I never talk about it here because it never really comes up. These days I watch a lot of old mecha stuff though, so I haven’t seen much of the newer, popular stuff yet. But I do love Ouran High School Host Club. That’s some of the funniest shit ever.
Okay, and now for this survey thing.
4 movies you can always watch: Back to the Future, That Thing You Do, The Sound of Music (lol), Men in Black
4 shows you like to watch: Firefly, Space Ghost Coast to Coast, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, What Not to Wear
4 websites you visit daily: X-E, Livejournal, RetroJunk, christiananime.net (this place gets interesting sometimes)

4 movies: 40 Year Old Virgin, Baseketball, Seven, Knocked Up
4 shows: Venture Bros., Family Guy, Diners Drive-ins & Dives, 30 Days
I like that REALLY old school mecha stuff, where it’s so by the numbers formula in every episode. Some bad monster comes, the heros use the super robot to finish him off. Mazinger,Getter Robo,Voltron, and so on. Gravion and GaoGaiGar are like that too, even though they’re pretty new.
Of course I love Gundam and Macross type stuff too.
So I guess I’m just into any anime show with a robot. Of course I still like Transformers Generation 1 most of all!

Neg, it’s ironic, i thought about that rant shortly afterward.. - but no worries, and no apologies nessecary.. - there are signs posted right at the top of the escalator.. you know? - and the mall has several elevators for those with small children.. - it’s very unfourtunate, true, but ultimately the young parents have to take responsibility.. - that being said, i hope the kids’ okay.. - i can’t stop replaying it in my mind but i’m fine.. - thank you, though..
well, i’m taking off from work.. - to go home and write about Ramen noodles.. - i’ll check back later tonight and see if any blogging action is going on.. - be well.. - later!
You know,I actually was going to say you could replace KoF 98 on my 4 games list with any SNK fighting game, but now Annette’s reminding me of Guilty Gear…..

What is your deepest darkest secret?
Here is mine. My female weiner dog loves to hump me whenever I lay on the floor. And I let her, because her stupid little feet give me a great back massage while she is thrusting away with her nothingness.
Holy crap, I hope that baby will be alright! ;__; How the hell did that happen?! I really hope it was just some unfortunate turn of events and that their parents didn’t actually put the stroller on the escalator. I didn’t think anybody on the planet could be that dumb.
Having to witness something like that would be horrible too. :( Sorry to hear that, Brian.
Mandy>>I had gall stones and it was the worst pain I have ever been in. They took my gall bladder out and I have been perfect since. I feel for ya, because I know how uncomfortable it can make you. I would highly recommend just having it removed if possible.
My deepest darkest secret ? Hmph, i’ll have to think about that for a sec .

Annette: thanks so much for the kind words.. - i’m with you.. i truly don’t mean to be cruel but you’d hope people wouldn’t be that stupid.. - unfortunately from what i gathered from talking to security was that they really were that lazy to not walk the additional 50 steps or whatever to the nearest elevator.. - i tried looking at the local news sites but nothing’s been posted as far i as can tell yet..
Annette: Trials and Tribulations, represent! Easily, easily in my Top 5 games. It is just magnificent. The entire Phoenix Arc is fantastical magical (yes, even 2-3 ) Apollo Justice had some sticking points for me, but overall was very good times. I cannot wait for AJ2 and Perfect Prosecutor.
Without a doubt, it has become my favorite game series. I love more characters in it, per capita, than ANYTHING else. Edgeworth is my favorite video game character EVER, and as soon as I finish the debate in my head, he’ll most likely be my favorite character in any form of media PERIOD.

Edgeworth is one of the best video game characters of all time, if not one of the best characters of all time, period. XD Phoenix is actually a pretty good character too.
Wait a minute. Are we still making Mallrats jokes or did someone’s baby for real get stuck in an escalator?

Joker and Rachel Anna, it’s good to see some old school flicks getting some love…I love Abbot and Costello Meet Frankenstein and It’s a Wonderful Life!
DarkSideofBrightness moving to Gatlinburg with you is quite tempting, but I fear my wife would not approve.
And Rev. I agree with Cameron…video or it didn’t happen.
Ryane,
I’m on Llane. I rock a 61 night elf druid, a 47 human rogue, and a 12 dwarf hunter. Is is an addiction. I find I have to make myself go outside and do stuff. I have an excuse though. My girlfriend lives 300 miles away since I had to move for work. She was in school and couldn’t come with me. So we’ve “hung out” through that game. In a geeky way, I say that game has helped us stay together. She’s moving up next weekend. I’m pretty pumped. …and they all lived happily ever after.

This dog won’t be around forever, and I’ll miss this behavior when she’s gone someday. Thus the depressing perspective of the wife of a mortician.

My weiner dog story made everyone uncomfortable, and now they’re like a man who walks into a public bathroom to discover that people in red woolen shirts are getting incredible kicks out of things they had never imagined. They’re thinking the demographic here has taken a turn for the unsavory.

Thank you, BgBlyStyle. I felt sad about corrupting your wholesome family network here with my filthy talk. I’ll shut my fool mouf next time I’m tempted to tell a story that involves humping.
I’ll probably just save those stories for the SubGeniuses.
Trike123: That is truly shitty news. Stan Winston was the man. He designed stuff for Terminator, Predator, Aliens, Star Wars, Pumpkinhead, Galaxy Quest, Edward Scissorhands, Iron Man, even the Mr. Roboto mask for Styx’s Kilroy Was Here album. What a cool guy. Hollywood just became a lot less special.
I’ve been really busy at work today so, I haven’t been able to check up on X-E.
Rev: You’re one of God’s prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.
And that is why you’re second in command for big boss status.
*sigh*
yeah, I was too focused with stopping his XXX right side attack..

In other news, I almost killed myself attempting to prepare loins last night. It was almost another tragic loins related fatality. I am doing my part to get this blog to 666 before X-E Matt creates another one and this one fades into obscurity forever.
It was all that Stan Winston talk I was distracting you with. It threw you off your game. All part of my plan. The only X-E TTT I play is dirty X-E TTT.
It’s an adaptation of the game for PS2, I’ve never played it but judging by the wiki for it I’m guessing it’s going to be a horror flick.

I also have a 20 Warlock on Earthen Ring, but I don’t play her anymore… Was thinking about transferring her over to Crushridge, but, I think that’s an extra 25 bucks or something, so I might just make a new one. And yeah, it is very addicting… well, the last week or so I’ve been kinda out-of-sorts because my main leveling buddy (on my rogue) just went off to Boot Camp… Trying to get back into swing of things without him.

Auggh!
I’m back from the world’s crappiest vacation (aka scouting out moving). Been spending like a freakin sailor, I got receipts comin out of my ears, my house is a wreck and I’m trying to register a car in another state!
Whoa. I just posted “I just finished playing Mario Kart. I can probably play tommorrow, though.” in response to Ultraman, but I accidentally signed my name Ultraman!
Okay check this out, this is freaky. Take the number on top of the toys R us price tag on the header of this page, 1381357 and divide it by the price on the tag, 16.99 and you get 81305.17951736315479693937610359 then times that by the number on the Admit One ticket stub 036722 and you get 2985688802.236609770453207769276 then add 666 and you get 2985689468.236609770453207769276, finally divide that number by 1248197.9382260074291192340172559 and what do you get? 2392! IE, the number of seconds that roughly make 40 minutes! Aaaah!
flabslapper: you wouldn’t find it so hard to believe if you knew the kinds of mutants I minister to.
I think this is a pretty good sign that this is the real 1998. If that’s the case, I’d better get back into the missionary position so to speak, and start saving souls post haste.

Happy Birthday TC. Since your screen name reminds me of killer lobsters or crabs, I vote that you have a movie marathon of killer underwater creature films. That also fits a summer theme.
Jaws, Pirahna, Orca, Alligator, Humanoids from the Deep, Lake Placid, and anything else you can think of are my suggestions.

My birthday fell on a Wednesday this year, which is about the worst possible day for a birthday when you work weekdays, but I made up for it by celebrating it for a month. My husband, the great Rev. Sifu, has a birthday the month before mine, so I celebrated his for a month, too.
After two months of celebrating, I was ready to relax for a while.

squee: i totally agree with you! chuck-e-cheese’s all the way! - in fact, now i’m inspired, so i need to try to get my neice and nephew soon so i’ll have an excuse to hang out and chuck-e-cheese’s and take pictures and act like a big dork..
True story: My parents banned me from going to Chuck E. Cheese for about a year because I threw a balling squalling fit one time there at a birthday party. My mom said it was time to go, and I just didn’t want to go.
I don’t remember this, but I’ve been told that my mother was so upset by my behaviour that on the way home she pulled off the side of the road and just cried with her head in her hands.
I think that was the worst thing I ever did as a kid….and after my Dad was through with me I certainly didn’t do anything like that again!

Probably a bit to late to post this, but I’m changing one of my 4 movies to Tokyo Godfathers. I finally saw it last night and I love it. There was just something about it that was amazing.
Back to the main topic: Chuck E. Cheese. Last year I went to my nieces b-day party at Caesar Land (like CEC, but better pizza). Well us adults (all in our late 20’s) had way more fun then then little kids. In fact, I have a picture of one the adults riding in one of those little coin operated cars. The funniest thing though is in the picture one of my 4 year old nephews is pointing at the adult with his mouth open and this “what the?!?” look on his face. It was priceless.

The wife and I went with some friends to Chuck E Cheese a few years ago…so obnoxious…all those kids…makes me think of this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nLGtuDZTk6o
as a bit of a self-professed Chuck E. Cheese expert, it’s best to avoid big crowds like Teddy Ray referred to.. - this can be kind of hard during the summer.. - BUT.. during the school year.. plan accordingly and go during the day around lunch time while all the kids are in class.. - that’s what i normally do when i go sans children..
That sounds like protest chant.

DEAR LORD, ALRIGHT EVERYONE LISTEN, I JUST READ THAT MICHAEL BAY IS MAKING A NEW FRIDAY THE 13TH! I just cant beleive it, wtf is going on in the world? Michael Frickin Bay! They said they are going to make Jason more like John Rambo, more of an outdoors specialist than just a killing machine. I consider myself VERY fair to remakes. When I hear about a classic movie being remade, I say to myself give it a chance, it mught be great, you don’t know ti’ll you see it. But that just sounds like a flat out TERRIBLE idea. =/

Oh man, I REALLY HOPE that doesn’t turn out to be true for the new Jason flick.
I know I’m in the minority, but I prefer the first two non-Jason Friday films over the others. There was just something about Jason that never really appealed to me, even though I dressed up like him for Halloween once.
The only thing I have read about the remake of Friday the 13th is that its going to be a remake of the first three movies combined into one. I haven’t read anything about Jason being reimagined as an “outdoor specialist”. I really hope that is just a rumor.

Okay, I was pretty busy at work today. Took a minute now to check up on what I missed, and it doesn’t look like I missed much. Where is everbody? Did we all happen to get busy today? Oh, well. I’ll check back again a little later.
I liked Jason better and wanted him to triumph. I think it was because Jason signifies a sort of zen perfection to me, as he is at peace with his purpose in life, and seems to have no internal conflictions. He knows who he is and what he wants. And what he wants is to kill the fuck out of some people. He doesn’t seem to think about it, he just follows the path of least spiritual resistance and for that reason, nothing can harm him. He is like Chauncey Gardiner. He is a taoist monk. He is unstoppable.
I just got the new Special Edition of Short Circuit in the mail. Johnny Five tonight! Whoo!

so….I dunno If I ever mentioned this…but the doctors I have talked to lately all say that I am the PERFECT candidate for Lap band surgery. I mean usually they tell you that you have to try and diet first…but since my body is having problems digesting ANY foods in the first place and me being in discomfort 24/7 , the lap band would slow down the digestion or something…and give my body time to absorb the food a little at a time instead of a ton of food all at once. I dunno…maybe I will do it when I get insurance.

When you FIND A STRANGER IN THE ALPS???
That doesn’t even make sense in the context of the scene. How would your car get smashed up because you found a stranger in the Alps? Forget that. Forget that right in the Alps.
I love bad movie language edits for television. My favorite ever was from The Usual Suspects. “Give ME the keys, you fairy godmother.”
I used to have the dream where I had to go up a flight of stairs but the stairs were impossible to climb. One time I was Sylvester the Cat trying to get up a flight of stairs at my grade school, cool huh!?
No no no, that’s all wrong! I used preluded incorrectly, I meant just the opposite.

kb, I feel the exact same way
I will watch Kill Bill whenever it’s on cable, but the for-TV edits are redonk. Though someone obviously planned ahead, because they have a “Party Wagon” graphic that they superimpose over the “Pussy Wagon”, making one of cinema’s coolest tacky cars into one of the most lame.
I’ve never seen the TV edit version of Kill Bill, but I’m sure it’s lame. It’s just not the same when it’s edited. I’ve seen Pulp Fiction on TV and it sucks!
My only exposure to Kill Bill has been on the TV. It was still pretty awesome.
I saw a TV version of Animal House on AMC the other night, and their edit was atrocious. They cut the “Zuchinni” scene and the part where Belushi chugs the bottle of whiskey. WTF? Those weren’t even offensive.
I’m hearing impaired and read lips, so I think it’s funny when they change the words, because if I can see the character’s mouth, I can definitely tell what word it is they are really saying.

Cameron I always wished I knew how to read lips. So, I can tell if someone across the room was talking about me.
Cameron: the first time i saw Animal House was on TNT back around ‘97 after Monday Nitro went off.. - i loved it! - later on, i saw the “real” version and was blown away by all the stuff that i hadn’t seen on the edited version.. - still of my favorite comedies..
Hey Muppetbaby, the doc thinks I should have my large intestine removed to cure my ulcerative colitis and have the j-pouch constructed. Im not really jumping at the idea. Any thoughts?
Holy shit, what did I miss? Sorry I’ve been MIA lately guys but work’s been kind of kicking me around, plus I’ve been out of town. Went to see The Cure on Monday and will be out of town all weekend again starting tonight for the Heroes comic-con in Charlotte. I’m moving next Wednesday, and the cable/internet guy has promised he’ll be there that day so hopefully I won’t be without net access for very long. As of right now I’m at work pretending to actually work. I really wanted to go back and read every single comment above, but honestly just can’t be bothered. God, you people are chatty.
No, seriously, that looked freakin’ fun. Can’t believe I missed yet another F13 group chat. Matchbox Jason is awesome by the way. I want one. I really want to see the Nightmare on Elm St. one too.
Alright, I’m off so I can continue to pretend to work all the while most likely blog surfing or some such.
Oh, and THANKS, meepy! I’ve been really wanting to finally see that. It looks great. I’m glad they didn’t do anything weird with it and just stuck with the classic look. God, I hope they don’t screw that up. There’s so much potential for that movie to be really great or just terrible.
Rev, I take it back! Seriously, this place is the only thing that keeps me sane sometimes. Please, chat it up. I just hate that I completely missed what might have been one of the best ones we’ve had in a while.
Ok, since I’m at work and there’s nowhere really for me to sit and get anything done cause we’ve got a million people here I think I’m going to go grab some lunch and come back and pretend to work. ugh.. i just ate a giant Chipotle burrito and i’m feeling it.. - i hope everyone’s friday night is off to a good start.. - when i get off work my plans are to go home, watch 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, work on my website, and try to finally conquer World 6 on Super Mario Bros. 3!
I want to drink some vodka tonight. But I’m all out of vodka. Please come over, bring vodka and pierogies.
I only like excellent vodkas of the no hangover variety. Now that I am OLD I can not drink the moonshine anymore. I have the beetus so I can not drink the beers. Only high quality grain alcohol and finely produced pornography for the Reverend please!
ugh.. i just ate a giant Chipotle burrito and i’m feeling it..
I have never, ever, heard anyone eat this kind of food and feel good about it afterwards and often point out prior to eating it that they know they’re not going to feel good afterwards. I really really just don’t see the appeal.

@ 06/20/2008 8:53 PM EDT
Rev: i would bring pierogies but whenever i try to make them they end up gross..
dohopoki: point taken.. - i can totally see the appeal most of the way through.. as their amazing.. - but alas, like Rocky i don’t know when to throw in the towel.. and instead of quitting while i’m ahead i persist and end up feeling bleh..
since there’s been a lot of Mountain Dew talk lately due to the new promotion.. let me pose this question before i leave work.. - has anyone ever had Mountain Dew Baja Blast? - its served at Taco Bell.. - at least around here.. - not sure how widespread it is.. - it’s marketed as tropical lime and pineapple flavored and is sea green/teal..
Kid Nicky nice racin with ya.=) We didn’t figure out how the rooms work, but we STILL got to race. I’ll read the instruction booklet and see if I can figure it out.

Meepy - Wait as long as you can, until it becomes absolutely necessary. That surgery is the PITS. I was at the point where I needed blood tranfusions to continue college, so it had to be done. I was in the hospital for 39 days recovering - it is a MAJOR operation. Plus, I had an ileostomy for a year while I waited for my insides to heal enough to create the J-Pouch. so a year later, I was in for ANOTHER awful surgery. Do not enter this lightly.
The only reason I did the surgery was because they told me I would be CURED (remove the organ, remove the disease)….one year later = blood in the bathroom, pain, diarrhea, etc. went to the doctor and BAM - I had Crohn’s Disease all along, which always returns, despite removal. 5% of Ulcerative Colitis cases are actually Crohn’s and the only way it is discovered is after a surgery.
So, it turns out I have Crohn’s, removed my colon for nothing, and now I only have a disease filled small intestine left. Damn doctors.

Damn it. Okay, so we just put 600 bucks on our credit card because of the PS3, and now the rear brakes are going out in our minivan (the brakes already fricking went out in our Malibu dammit). The place we usually go to for repairs gave us a whopping 550-dollar estimate. I don’t know how we’re going to pay for all this shit.
Hang in there Annette. =) I’m sure you’ll find a way.

i hear ya on the car repairs. two weeks ago, it was a rear caliper for $250. next week its both front axles for $325. i was also given an estimate on a new exhaust…that will be $515 or so. it blows, but my car is 11 years old and paid off, so i could do worse. just sucks when it’s all at once…
Rev, I have the beetus so I can not drink the beers.
The beetus! LOL!
Muppet Baby For geez, man that sucks. Hope everything’s alright for you there. I’ve been soooo lucky (knock on wood) that I’ve been super healthy my whole life and rarely get sick. Hang in there, though! Damned Crohn’s.
Annette, I hear you, man. $550? Wow. I seriously need some new brakes, like yesterday, as well a muffler. I’m waiting on my Bush’s Bonus Bucks to show up so I can take care of that and then promptly run out and get myself a PS3. I’m DYING for one! Everytime I get paid, I think…hmmm…that money is RIGHT THERE. I could go out and buy that bitch today, jack! But, then I realize that there’s that whole rent thing and that my car, at this point, technically qualifies as an amusement ride, and I come to my senses. Soon, though……verrrry soon.

My girlfriend and I just saw the Cure last month and it ruled. I couldn’t believe they did Jumping Someone Else’s Train.

MJ, I’d very much like to know the answer to that myself. I’m starting to get a little antsy over here.
Kid Nicky, Yeah the show was awesome. Playlist wise, I’d say it wasn’t quite as good as the last time I saw them, but they started making up for it on the encores. The last encore was amazing–I believe it was Jumping Someone Else’s Train, Boys Don’t Cry, then ended with Killing An Arab. Plus, I was 7th row, so I had a blast. I can’t believe I was that close to them.
Alright kids, I’m outta here. I’m about to head out the door to go out of town to do some family visiting and go to the Heroes comic-con in Charlotte tomorrow morning. I won’t have any net access till Sunday evening so I’ll check in with you guys then. Have a good rest of the evening and SNT. I, of course, will be missing it. I swear, if it’s not because of work, it’s cause I’m out of town or something. One of these days I’ll actually be home for an entire SNT. Oh well, see you Sunday! I’m off to spend the weekend seeing The Happening, despite the bad reviews (It’s his first R-Rated movie! Sweet Lord!) and blowing an ungodly amount of money on comic books.
DJD have fun. =) Also Comic books are one of the BEST things you can spend cash on. =)

Here in San Diego today it was about 40 degrees…40 degrees Celsius, that is. Possibly more (98 F at my house; don’t know what that is in Celsius; I would support the metric system if only I could remember the damn conversions).
Posted by The Real Andrew
@ 06/21/2008 4:02 AM EDT
Just go to google and type X F to C, where X is your temp. Works with all kinds of measurement conversions and math problems.
98 degrees Fahrenheit = 36.6666667 degrees Celsius
Posted by dohopoki
@ 06/21/2008 4:20 AM EDT
Real Andrew - The easiest way to do the quick conversion from C to F is to just remember this: double it and add 30. So if its 20 C its roughly 70 F. Its not exact, but its close enough. The hotter or colder it gets, the less accurate the conversion becomes. The actual conversion is 9/5 F + 32 = C.
If Baja Blast was sold in regular cans or bottles,I’d probably buy it now and then, but it’s nowhere near my favorite Dew. I do get it every time I go to Taco Bell, which is like twice a year.

If I may share my health story…I had an aortic dissection (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aortic_dissection) in October 2006, should be dead, but God saw fit to save me…spent thirteen months in three different hospitals…kidneys shut down (but God restored those too)…three of those months were in a medicated coma…got a brutal bedsore…home now but still recovering…more or less bedridden, in a wheelchair when we get out because my legs are so weak from so much time in the hospital…got a colostomy (Muppet Baby’s ileostomy got me on the subject)…but I’m alive, so I can’t complain, right?
JoshC - I already rocked today. It was great. I’m gonna do it again tomorrow.
Nobody delivered the vodka and potato dumplings last night. It was a great disappointment I can tell you. I thought the Big Boss in this area could expect a little more in the way of sacred offerings.

Cameron: i’m stoked for WALL•E, too! - i’m actually seeing it next weekend as part of a triple-header at the local drive-in theatre with Prince Caspian and Get Smart.. - i must admit.. i called myself a Pixar fan but never saw Toy Story.. - my wife rectified that last week and of course it was amazing.. - is the second one really good too?
Muppet Baby I beleive the technical term for J pouch is Jejunostomy? I know if it the Jejunum and the common bile duct its a Choledocojejunostomy…which one did you have? I always thought Ileostomy was permanent
Cholostomy is usually the reversible one, because my husbands colon shut down due to diverticulitis and he got peritonitis from the infection, he had a cholostomy for 6 months….pardon the long medical terms,I just get so into that stuff because of my terminology classes I take for billing and coding. In class I get teased for being the smart one.
Teddy Ray isn’t Aortic dissection what John Ritter died from? I he had an aortic aneurysm that burst, and doesn’t that mean dissection?
this IS a happy SNT, for me at least. Due to an injury, I have been prescribed a muscle relaxer. Due to the strength of this thing, I can only take it on Saturday. You kids are part of the SNT, but your loving Reverend is phoning this in from the MOON. XOXOXO!!!
Hmmm. Not to be a downer, but i’m just not feelin’ the SNT tonight. I think some Mountain Dew and a new blog entry would do it. But I’d have to leave the house – not very SNT of me. Hmmm.
Pretty much always, Josh
I forgot to mention, thanks to Leigha I’ve wasted half the day on notalwaysright.com. I swear, if I don’t get out of customer service one day, it will break me. Therapeutic reading, though.

This is my 1st post from my NEW computer. Every other post I have made on X-E from 2003 until now has been on my trusty old computer. Unfortunately, it was a little too old and…well, you know. I have a question though that someone here can probably answer, I have searched but been able to find nothing. Is it possible to convert ol’ 2003 powerpoint files into 2007 files? I’ve got all new fonts, etc.
All I found online is how to open old shows or vice versa so it may not be possible.
Any help you can give will greatly help me and benefit the children of America.
Thanks !

Hey Oklahoma/Texas/Missouri X-E’rs:
If you remember the early 90’s, QuikTrip now has SQUARTS again!! Woohoo! Just got my new model yesterday. Been forever since I had one. No word whether or not they will produce the ThermoSquart again.
A Squart is a quart sized cylindrical bottle with a red lid and extra long straw with its own cap on it. Back in 89-90’s summers, when Squarts came out at QuikTrip, a local gas station chain in Tulsa, you could buy a Squart bottle and get free refills during certain times. Needless to say it was a huge success in the sweltering summers. The Squart’s success produced a massive family of products, including a MiniSquart, and the most rare and magnificent beast of all, a Squart Bottle lined in a thermal jacket surrounding the bottle. The ThermoSquarts were about twice as expensive, but were some of the best bottles produced, and can be refilled for 70 cents during the summers.
I saw ThermoSquarts in use a full decade after their initial production, yet eventually they degrade.
This is primarily an Oklahoma thing. If Kingklash were here, he’d know.
Just open the ‘03 file in PowerPoint ‘07, then use “save as” to save to the new .pptx file extension. You will no longer be in “compatibility mode” and can use whatever new features you like.

I wasn’t online all weekend so I missed out on the chit chat. I was at my friends house because it’s hot and she has a pool. However, I slipped and fell and may have fractured my foot. If it still hurts tomorrow I’ll try to go to the doctor. I’m ridiculously clumsy and have hurt myself and broken bones just from falling. I’m like a cartoon sometimes. Sigh.
DC no matter how accident proned you are, you can’t POSSIBLY be more accident proned than my sister in law. I’m not kiddin she is by FAR the most accident proned human bein EVER ! One time she ACTUALLY injured herself gettin out of bed. She was gettin up and the cover was still wrapped around her foot and it caused her to trip and break her ankle. This happened REALLY early in the mornin too. She had to be taken to the hospital and came back with a cast on her foot. LOL !

I broke my arm falling off one step. I split my eyebrow open on my car door while bending down to pick up my keys. I sprained my ankle and tore ligament walking to my car. The list goes on and on…everyone knows me for falling ALL the time.
She does the same stuff , like you , CONSTANTLY ! It’s not an every now and then type of thing with her. She can’t get through a day without getting badly injured. And it’s not just injury she has bad luck with, it’s pretty much everything. She bought a brand new car a year ago, but now it looks like she got it from the junkyard because of all the accidents it’s been in because she was drivin it. XD Oh shes been arrested alot too.

Whoa, now I don’t feel as bad. I’m clumsy, but I don’t injure myself everyday. And I haven’t had an accident in my car. Yeah, she’s worse.
Glad I made you feel a little better about yourself DC. =) I don’t mean to laugh at her but sometimes I just CAN’T help it. I mean it’s like shes a living cartoon character.

Too bad about George Carlin.
Cameron T.: You couldn’t have picked a better Beach Boys’ compilation than SoS. Every song was a top 40 hit, and it doesn’t even cover all of their top 40 songs! As for my top 3 as of now:
The Warmth of the Sun- the Beach Boys
The Pet Sounds Sessions- the Beach Boys
TV Land Presents Favorite TV Theme Songs

Really sucks about Carlin. I got to see him live last fall and he still had it. Plus, they just selected him to receive the Mark Twain Award for American comedy; truly one of the best there was and one of the few left from that generation of comedy greats.
I would have loved to see George Carlin live, must have been a great show Shaun.
However I take offense to you claiming he was one of the last few great comedians left, I mean we’ve still got people like Dane Cook…ummm wait..
Carlos Mencia?
uhh…actually, nevermind.
Josh I’m still trying to figure out why people keep paying to see Dane Cook??? He is so not funny. I just don’t get it. And Carlos Mencia is also not funny and makes his money off other comedian’s material. All I can say to those two is just stop it!
Man, Harvey Korman, Dick Martin and now George Carlin. Comedy’s losing all the old school heroes I watched Carlin’s most recent standup special not long ago and he most definitely still had it, I wish I’d seen him in person at least once. RIP George.
I actually went to go see Dane Cook live just over two years ago for my birthday. This was right before Tourgasm started airing and I realized the guy was a huge bag of douche and a hack (a funny hack, but a hack nonetheless). Anyway, after he performed they told us there was a very special surprise star guest, and it was freaking Mencia. The climax of his act was him deep throating the microphone. The microphone that all the other comedians had been talking into ALL night
Top 3 Albums:
3 - Death Proof Soundtrack
2 - Simon and Garfunkel Greatest Hits
1 - Amy Winehouse Back to Black
Those are the three that I have to force myself to stop listening to in the interest of variety. I think I’ve finally worn out the Winehouse but that’s only after many many replays.
1025 comments? Yikes. I just got home from a four night cruise. Will post something later/tomorrow morning. :) Hope all is well.

I actually did see Carlin live once about a decade ago. He was doing material for the HBO special he was going to film that year and it was hilarious. RIP Rufus.
I don’t get all the Dane Cook hate, especially since it seemed to all come out of the forfront all of a sudden a couple of years ago. I liked his HBO special and the Tourgasm show.

Looks like MY reign of terror is over at last. Long live stinkbutt, big boss of the area!
It is all for the best, I was becoming giddy with power. Why just the other day I was explaining to my pack of concubines that the big boss in the area needed a pile of pierogies and a gallon of vodka, and Praise “Bob” they all ran around gathering these things. Absolute power corrupts absolutely, and I am glad to get out of this with part of my soul intact. Praise stinkbutt!!!
Stinkbutt: Rev has usurped your position as big boss. may I suggest pistols at dawn to see who gets the official title??
But remember kids, if the big boss can’t fulfill his/her duties, am AM a big boss for hire.
I promise to rule you with an iron fist, because we all know thats what you need.
I am wonderful.
Ask my permission to do stuff since I am boss and #1.
I am best around.
You are also ok.
Thanks again,

I have wit and sex appeal
I am a genuine wesley willis song generator

Mystie called it! Welcome back, Matt, hope you had a great time!
JLAJRC, remember the old saying, familiarity breeds contempt. I can’t speak for anyone else, but for myself I got sick of Dane Cook as a result of his overexposure and my own recognition of the fact that his comedy is pretty formulaic. Plus I thought Tourgasm revealed him to be a big crybaby weiner sore loser who’s a douche to his friends. But a funny one.
The first three “Friday The 13th” films *did* air Friday, June 13th. They aired on Chiller, NBC Universal’s 24/7 horror channel. It’s currently available on DIRECTV, DISH Network, and several cable companies.
I seemed to have avoided XE all night it seemed, as I didn’t know George Carlin died until an hour ago from reading Fark. Nor did I see that this blog passed 1000 comments. Sad indeed, I even blogged about it.
Mystie, yay, someome else remembered him as Mr. Conductor! He was the 2nd one, actually. Why he would do a children’s show at all amazaed the hell outta me, but he made Thomas The Tank Engine better somehow. I still have a lot of cassettes with him as the narrator.
“LOOK OUT PERCY YOU STUPID PRICK!” and such. He will be missed.
Squee: So basically you think Dane is suffering from “WWE John Cena Disease” aka everyone likes you until you get too popular and “overexposed” and then people start making up lame excuses to start hating you?
Has anyone here played Metal Gear Solid yet? There is a sound effect that happens throughout the game that is giving me a very negative emotional response, and when my Sifu is playing it while I sleep, the sound wakes me up in a panic.
JLAJRC, I wouldn’t argue that what you’re describing happens constantly, but I wouldn’t say that’s the situation with my feelings on Dane Cook (which is all I claimed to be speaking for). As I said, I was a big enough fan of the guy to go see him live and totally mark out on him, but then seeing more of his personality through Tourgasm and realizing that his comedy is formulaic and doesn’t stand up to repeated listening like your Carlin, or your Hedberg, or ANY number of other comics, led me to form the opinion. Whether I’ve made it up as a lame excuse or not is up to you to decide, not that I’m particularly interested in knowing about it if you DO find it lame. A moment with Google shows me another website said it far better than I could:
We were told we liked him. We were told other people liked him. Which meant we must like him, too. Because they liked him. And they are we.
Only unlike the organic and legit accomplishment of, say, the talented Steve Carrell, who actually earned his place at the top by being funny, Cook’s force-fed limelight down all of our collective throats has caused the collective regurgitating response. The clarion call to focus all this noise around something, anything real: A begging we are all making of his sorry, generic ass: DO SOMETHING REAL.”
Sorry for the snarkiness. Maybe I missed an implied in your response
JoshC - Are you trying to get in the spirit for the Halloween Countdown already?
Rutabaga - Prior to pumpkins being readily available in the UK and Ireland (a relatively recent development), swedes/rutabagas were hollowed out and carved with faces to make lanterns for Halloween. Often called “jack o’lanterns”, or “tumshie lanterns” in Scotland, they were the ancient symbol of a damned soul.

As for the three favorite albums question…I don’t really know. I don’t really listen to albums much right now.
1. “Brother, Sister” by mewithoutYou
2. “In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3″ by Coheed and Cambria
3. “Five Iron Frenzy 2: Electric Boogaloo” by…Five Iron Frenzy
Annette: i adore mewithoutYou! - i’m a big fan of all three of their albums.. - they’re also an incredible live band.. - aaron weiss is a personal hero of mine..
JoshC: i concur, sir.. - Moneen is a ton of fun.. - i’ve seen them live a couple times, too.. - so much energy! - they just released a DVD that’s excellent..
Squee: Don’t get me wrong, I’m not attacking you or your opinion of him. If you don’t care for him, that’s fine with me. Heck, there are some popular things/people even I don’t care for (someone explain Sarah Silverman to me, please).
What I just find funny is that it seems to me like everyone was touting Dane (and Dave Chapelle) as the newest, freshest faces of comedy two years ago, and now Dane is popping up on “Worst comedians ever” lists. How in the world do you fall that fast?

Man, what I would pay to see Dave Chapeezie live. Or just see his next project, whatever it is. Hurry up Dave!
To be honest JLAJRC, I am more fond of Dane Cook than I’m coming off. I just think he’s gotten lazy since hitting the big time and I’m tired of it. I think others are too. Like Dan said, M. Night did the exact same thing, with the same result, losing the Golden Boy status.
I need a new thread, or at least a nap. Apparently after 1000 comments I start to get fussy.
Okay….I have been so sad about poor old george carlin all day…its ironic his last special talked about death and heaven and hell and funerals.
Also…just saw Love Guru….oh wow…it was pretty funny.
as far as comedians go….I USED to live Dane Cook. Now he just gets on my nerves.
I have seen Margaret Cho live. She is sooooo awesome! I’m not sure she was feeling so hot the night I went….she kinda phoned it in if you get my drift.
I also saw John Pinnett. He’s this fat guy that used to talk about chinese buffets….”you go NOW! you here four hour!”
Also….Eddie Izzard is awesome. I used to like Dave Attel…he has’nt been doing much recently though.
And of course the redneck comedy tour guys. Larry the cable guy Bill engvall Jeff foxworthy and Ron white.
I have made a decision to see Bill Cosby before he dies now. I passed up a chance a couple years ago, because my bf now husband was coming home from the hospital for cholostomy surgery.
I tried to see whoopi Goldberg, but tickets were like in the 200 dollar range. And I wanna see Jeff Dunham with his puppets.

Mr. Cosby, you broke my heart.

It, like all questions that seem difficult, is all about scale. I know you’re using “seems like everyone” as just a phrase but even so,, only a small small percentage of the world has ever heard of Dane Cook. His success may be credited to the fact that all the people who were ever going to like him, found out about him first. Now that many more people know who is, myself for example, it turns out that a lot of people can’t stand him, myself for example.
There’s bs reasons in there too as to why some people will change their mind but ultimately, it’s just that more people have heard of the guy and get to voice their opinion.

Hey all. 1,000 posts in, I finally got it together enough to make a new post to my blog – a new feature, the 80’s time travel post, where I recount in exacting detail some fun event from the 80’s. This one is from the early 90’s ( I know, I said 80s), and it involves Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
I’m not promising that pudding pies will pop up but ya never know.
Oooh, somebody mentioned Eddie Izzard. I LOVE Dress to Kill. I can watch it over and over and over and never get tired of it. His other shows don’t really do it for me, but that one is brilliant.
I really liked Chappelle’s Show a whole lot too, even though some of the bits were a little much for me. Most of the time it was pretty damn hilarious though.
I’ve heard of Dane Cook, but I haven’t seen or heard anything by him, so…can’t really say anything about that.
Brian, mewithoutYou is an amazing band, isn’t it? I’ve seen them live once and it was awesome. I also like Catch For Us the Foxes, but I thought Brother, Sister was mindblowingly amazing.

I am so happy!
I frequently post to another group, or “area”, and as an experiment, I advised them yesterday that I was the big boss of the area.
What a warm response I received! It turns out that they have been waiting a long time for a busty boss lady to come along and lead them. So now I am the big boss of two areas, and if you all reject or impeach me, I’ll still be a big boss.
Friday the 13th was perfect for me and my two best friends. We went up to my family’s cabin which is in the middle of the woods and by a lake it was perfect so we had to have a marathon of our favorite Jason flicks.
Between all the drinking we managed to make it through Parts 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7 and 8
5 doesn’t count since it wasn’t Jason.

The maddening struggle for power rages on. Who knows to what depths we will sink before this ugly mess is over. I am the big boss in this area, as well as other areas now. I don’t have three favorite albums right this minute, but if I were to list the three of all time, my shames would be revealed as they may be worse than Freddie’s Greatest Hits or something.
Ummm… technically speaking, isn’t Matt the “big boss” around here??? Now if he wants someone on patrol in his absence, I’d like to know who he is endorsing for the position. And I want to know what all of these candidates for “big boss” is going to do for me before I’ll pledge any loyalties!!!
Posted by Saint
@ 06/24/2008 11:51 AM EDT
Technically speaking, of course!
But stinkbutt doesn’t have time for technicalities. stinkbutt is not a big boss for the people. stinkbutt supports corruption and having a nice day.
I believe stinkbutt’s shortcoming are self-evident. I’m looking for a leader who can make some promises of TMNT pudding pies, kool-aid, and long forgotten cereals in a gift basket, a lobster in every pot, and casual Fridays. Also, the much needed X-E con at Wildwood!!!
Posted by Saint
@ 06/24/2008 12:59 PM EDT
Saint: Looks like X-E Matt is your man, then. I don’t have any long forgotten cereals available, but I did have an epiphany!
You know how sometimes you’ll be participating in a group like this, but not this one exactly - some other one, and there’s some kook going on and on about some bullshit, and you think, “Doesn’t that person realize they’re a kook? How can they not know?”
And then you find yourself among another seemingly kook-free group, such as this one, and you wonder, “why are there no kooks here?”
Now it’s getting political around here? What’s next, we become an actual cult and adopt XE as our religion? I would gladly worship Bulbasaur and the Green Bamboo Peanut as our saviors.
I think Rev and Stinkbutt should have a debate. Or at least give us some slogans to help us decide.

I think it’s still officially “Hamilton!”, but nobody adds the ! anymore. Interesting trivia, from Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hamilton%2C_Ohio)
“In the 1920s, many Chicago gangsters had second homes in Hamilton. This gave Hamilton the nickname “Little Chicago.” John Dillinger was documented as a visitor to Hamilton. During World War II, due to the large number of gambling and prostitution establishments such as Madame Freeze’s and the long row of prostitution establishments along Wood Street (now called Pershing Ave), the entire city was declared off-limits to military personnel.”

“Wood St.” where the houses of ill repute are? Genius.
Sorry your cruise was “bleh” Matt…..I guess that’s better than “blech!” ?

Couldn’t have been worse than my camping trip. Never again.
I’d take a bleh cruise over my daily routine any day!! Have to say, I excited to hear about it though. Welcome back Matt.

Muppetbaby: I figured I should probably wait until its absolutely necessary…after all, at this point its a pain in the ass, it sucks havin pain, it sucks running to the bathroom, etc etc…its been 12 years Ive been diagnosed with UC and I cope pretty good….if it was totally dreadful and I was on my deathbed like some people, the decision is a no brainer…but the way it is now, probably should stick it out. After all, with my luck they’ll find a cure the day after the operation.

Try to give an abridged version… let’s see…
First the campfire wouldn’t start, it was oozing sap so I had to go pay for firewood, then AFTER I was full on s’mores and schnapps my friends decided to take the trail up to the rocks. Had to go back in the dark, and use the outhouse in fear of DYING in it. Shortly after decided to retire to the tent and pick up a book and relax only to reach it and feel a big WOOSH of air going by indicating a storm coming. Tried to ride it out, but it was lightening and we were in an object contstructed out of METAL so we hid in the car til it was mostly over. Went back into the damp tent which was also now cold because of the rain and tried to huddle up under my CareBears blanket. Woke up at 2:30am with horrible stomach cramps and freezing cold. Eventually had to have 3 blankets thrown on me because I don’t so much shiver as I have little convulsions. I had to be bored to sleep while raccoons tore apart our trash. Woke up and the shirt I was going to change into was damp. Everything was covered in mud and grime, and when we disassembled the tent my friend took the tarp off while I was still in packing and dumped water all over my bag of important shit, causing me to temporarily snap. I managed to salvage the last of it by suggesting we get the fuck out asap and cleaning camp while I had my CareBears sheet tucked into my brastraps thus wearing it as a cape.
Oh, and I was too scared to fall asleep because I was genuinely concerned that I wouldn’t wake up again.
i just got back from spending a day hiking and swimming at Brookville Lake in Indiana.. - saw something amazing, too.. - after a long, exhausting hike we went into a little store inside the park that has supplies, etc. to get some water.. - in the back was an operational Nightmare of Elm St. Freddy pinball machine! - i took a couple pictures.. - pretty much made my day..
Damn Mystie, that sounds like a giant pile of fail and lose. Which is exactly why I never go camping. I’m fine with being outside provided it isn’t a million degrees out, but I just don’t see the appeal of camping. At all. I like being able to sleep and stuff y’know.
Camping CAN be fun IF you go to a cabin or take an RV or something. Sleeping outside in a tent in the middle of the woods, not so fun. Although going for a stroll and/or hike in the woods can be fun and relaxing, it’s the sleeping there in a tent part that I wouldn’t do. lol.

Geez Mystie,
That bad a camping trip has to be followed by an awesome apologetic trip. Was this with a boyfriend? Cause he owes ya something – preferably slightly uncomfortable for him and expensive.
I would like to go camping…in a cabin or something…or an RV…with a resort where I can swim and hang out. I “camped” to get my wii in december. NOT fun! sucks Giant Ape Juice.

I love camping.
I am going camping next week! Driving 8 hours from home to camp in the woods with hundreds of my closest friends.
Every year there is at least one evening rain storm. There is nothing like the sound of rain on the tent. I can sleep way better with the threat of bears than what’s lurking in the alley outside my Bronx apartment.
Nah I was out with my two oldest friends and this dick that we know from karaoke. The boyfriend and I are supposed to head towards AC this weekend to consummate our love. Gotta meet the parents before we go. Eep. But I get to see his black and pink 40k army, so it’ll all be good.
Anyone know if the Halloween Jukebox still works? It’s been a while since I’ve been ’round these parts.

Leigha as far as the G.I. Joe movie goes.. - on the good side, i’ve heard Destro will be in it.. and Ray Park (Darth Maul, Toad, etc.) will be Snake Eyes.. - on the bad side, one of the Wayans bros. got a role..

What’s with the recent ads for Hancock? The original trailer I saw played it up as a comedy, which I’m sure it is, but the recent commercials seem heavy on seriousness, while trying to keep the jokes sprinkled in.

Its a typical Will Smith movie. It will be some sort of wierd mix of both that will work perfectly. See “I-Robot” and “Independece Day for examples.

There is a rape DX code (E960.1) - I guess they would have to explain that it was by a tree.
