I would much rather read about the Golden Girls hosting the 25th anniversary of Disney World than the Iron Man Slurpee.

Hey Matt, I'm a little late to the party, but I was one of the 10,000 people back in the day who could hold up posterboard signs whenever you mentioned He-Man (I believe I went by the moniker "Al Boondy" back then, but I seriously can't remember which dumb-ass nickname I used on which message board, it was so long ago).

Anyway, if you're still looking for some online Smash battles, my code is 4940-5510-7790 ...

Okay Matt this may be a little late, but here goes nothing. Being that we live in the same town, I should point out the Halloween Warehouse that's open all year. It doubles as a dance school uniform shop as well, but the owner (last time I checked) never stow's away any of the Halloween gear, so it's out there for you to peruse year round. Why not then have a stab at that, who knows what cheesey spook swag you'll find;

So what the hell is up with the selection (or lack thereof) at TRU these days? I know some of you will think I'm nuts bitching about the "World's Biggest Toystore" having little variety, but it's true. I remember at least up to the mid-90's you could walk into TRU and find hundreds of different toy lines, from the very popular to fairly obscure (remakes from old Micronaut molds, anyone?). Now they only seem to carry maybe ten major toy lines, with craploads of empty shelf space.

My theory is that in trying to compete with Walmart, they have reduced their selection to only the most popular/best selling stuff, sacrificing the diversity they used to have.

So the next time the corporate schmucks come by to pretend like they value the opinion of the people working on the ground, explain to them that there is no way they can out-Walmart Walmart, and if they want to get more people into their rapidly dying stores, they need to carry a broader range of products than what people can get at the nearest discount store.

Then again, maybe I'm just getting old (37), and reflexively think things used to be better. On the other hand, if you cruise over to http://www.plaidstallions.com and look at their collection of old toy store/toy aisle photos from the 70's & 80's, it does seem like there was just more cool stuff for sale.
