“Whole muscle deli meats”??? Eww.
I love meat. One could say that meat and I have a special bond forged by many years of tender affection. But when I take a healthy chomp of my favorite meat products, one word I particularly like to put far in the back of my mind is “muscle”.
I know that’s what it is, except when it isn’t (spam? scrapple? hot dogs? peckers and gums all). I suppose that acceptance of this reality is what vegetarians always seem to be trying to convince me about. But because I’m a two year old, I still laugh when I see a butt roast.
I’d rather have whole-muscle deli meat than muscle-hole deli meat any day.

Unfortunately no, Rob, if by “really?” you mean is it really a game. Stupid April Fools.
DJ D, that is such a cool viral alternative reality whatever! I’m started to get excited for Batman…yesterday I swung by Hot Topic (it makes me feel so old being in there, but where else can you get Harry Potter, Planet Terror and Hot Fuzz shirts at 50% off?) and they had all kinds of Batman stuff already.
I was just making the looks comparison, I don’t think they’re really based on anyone.
Speaking of video games, I am going through a major WRPG withdrawl right now.

What’s the “W” stand for in WRPG?

I will surely throw an astounding gala the day of the new post. All are invited. We will dance in cocktail dresses and tuxedos while drinking champagne under the stars. Then we will retire to play NES and watch old movies in our pajamas.

Jess
The idea of playing NES games whilst sipping champagne and wearing a tuxedo is strangely alluring to me. Please, more details on this gala party of yours!

Didn’t we all do that once already? I have deja vu problems.
Oh, this is a tease. I think I am going to start re-reading all the old articles. It’s been at least a year since I have spent a good few hours reading the ones more than five or six years old.
Man, I don’t know what happened, but I tried to post something a few hours ago and even though I hit post (twice even-and got the whole “slow down cowboy” message), it never showed up. I thought it might even be a delayed reaction and left the site and came back a couple of times, but it never appeared. I hope this one does though.
squee4242 Yeah, Hot Topic just ain’t what it used to be, but if they’ve got cool Batman stuff I’ll definetly have to check it out.
Jess, Tell me when and where and I’m there.
Is anyone here in Texas? If so, have you ever been to the Alamo Drafthouse? I’ve been reading a lot about it lately and it almost seems like it would be worth the trip to Texas just to check it out. I found a little sort of promotional magazine
thing tonight about it that has loads of articles and about the shows coming up and the schedule and everything and apparently they’ve got some Saturday morning cartoon pajama party deal coming up where you just show up in your pj’s and everyone sort of votes on the cartoons they want to watch and it’s all 80’s and 90’s stuff. How freaking fun is that?
Anyways, on the subject of exciting things going to DVD, I just read that Birds of Prey, the entire series is coming out. This was one of the best shows that just didn’t make it to a second season and it really sucks cause I think if it was brand new and just came out now I bet it would do great. It’s based on characters in the DC comics that live in Gotham City. It’s kind of a spin-off to a Batman show that never was. For you non-comic book geeks, it’s about Oracle (Barbara Gordon–daughter of Comissioner Gordon, who was the first Batgirl until The Joker shot her and paralyzed her and put her in a wheelchair), The Huntress (the daughter of Batman and Catwoman), and a psychic chick called Dinah.
It was a great show and was way before it’s time because it came out pre-Smallville and I just don’t think there was the market for comic book related material back then that there is now. It’s cool because Alfred Pennyworth was a recurring character, and later on Dr. Harley Quinzel showed up (who of course would have later become Harley Quinn if the show had survived). Also, it’s worth watching for the opening title sequence alone. It tells the story of how Batman fought The Joker and decided to leave Gotham, leaving the Birds of Prey to protect it. They got a great actor to play Batman (he was also the same guy that was in the Onstar commercials in the Batmobile many years ago). Also, while the guy who actually played The Joker in the opening sequence was an unknown, they dubbed over the voice of Mark Hammill because was he was famous at the time for doing The Joker’s voice on the Batman animated series.
KB, that’s one of my favorite things to do. I love reading old articles because it’s hard to navigate at times and I keep finding ones I have never seen before. If Matt designed it that way on purpose that is pretty ingenious.
Ben, when I couldn’t find any source NOT dated 4/1 for the Freakazoid DVD info I did actually get a little worried. I have to believe that no one would be cruel enough to joke about something as important as the long-delayed Freakazoid DVD release though. Thanks for the info, Cap’n Will!
I don’t know why, but I find this commercial/infomercial fascinating. Not neccessarilly because of the product being sold, but because of the pitchman. He sounds exactly like one of those pitchmen that are at state fairs selling these types of products. The hands-free microphone is a nice touch. Could we have a new infomercial celebrity on our hands ala Billy Mays? This is a shortened version of the infomercial, but I much prefer the longer one that I’ve seen on tv.
Billy Mays is the single most maddeningly attractive Oxyclean shill I’ve ever imagined taking windy walks with. I want him to love me by harnessing the awesome power of Oxygen.
Ah yes, Tiny Toon video set to the tune of They Might Be Giants, Istanbul. I had to check to see if they had the other video, Particle Man, and indeed they did!

Poking around in the basement of XE. Hmm, what do we have here? Dohopoki’s old Pokemon merch. Oh yeah, those comics drawn by the really pervy artist. Kingklash’s old Masters of the Universe pajamas…Mystie’s old Strawberry Shortcake figures…man. Not much here. Hopefully SNT will happen tomorrow to knock the dust off this ol’ post.

This is a test to see if I can post. Been having some troubles getting it to work at home but I’m at work now.
Well, I don’t know what’s wrong. That last one worked. All day yesterday I was trying to post from my home computer and it seemed as though it was going through fine (I even got the “slow down cowboy” message) but then the posts never appeared. It’s like the site’s telling me I’m posting and everything indicates that I am, but they’re not showing up. Since I’m at work and it seems to be working fine, I can only assume something’s wonky with my computer. This has never happened before. Any ideas what it could be?
Yeah, that’s the thing. I can read them too cause they’re actually showing up. The problem I’m having at home is that they’re not showing up at all, and I don’t know why. It’s like a weird one way conversation where I can read what everyone else is saying but I can’t post anything. Well, if you don’t see anything from me till tomorrow evening when I come back to work, you’ll know why…(grumble, grumble, grumble….stupid computers…grumble, grumble, grumble…)
SO…I’ve been trying to find any info I can on the New Kids reunion tour…I’m now a regular over at Nkotb fan.com, and omg I am sucha friggin NKOTB geek! i had EVRYTHING!!!! New Kids related. I had like 50 posters, about 2 or 3 hundred bottons and pins, stuck on this acid washed 80’s denim jacket form 5th grade and it had a sweet kick ass velvet patch on it with New Kids On th e Block written in rainbow colored embroidery…and I had like 20 shirts….I had every cassette of course…I had the board game….I still have the dolls. I have this picture I found of myself from 7th grade standing in front of my NKOTB shrine. I have to scan that bad boy and post it here…lol. OH! and I had the bedroom set with the comforter sheets pillowcases and rug and bath towel….and birthday party table settings and the autobiography…so I am a fan safe to say….or was a fan…..I can’t wait til they start touring….
I saw the Today show segment when they came out…and OMG these women were SCREAMING and CRYING! it was like what Beatlemania must have been like.

OK, I got Super Smash Bros: Brawl. My Brawl code is…

I’m now going to backtrack through the last two comments sections to look for other codes. I’ll post again later to list the numbers I found. If yours isn’t there, please post it again, and add me – all of you!

OK, so locating everyone’s code and entering it into SSBB took around 30 minutes – I guess I should start learning how to play the game now.
