It’s funny your talking about mcribs now. Last night I bought a family sized frozen dinner that are I think technically called “rib shaped beef patties with BBQ sauce” I have had them before they are a good easy dinner. But my best friend just informed me we are out of potatoes!! I was going to make mash potatoes with those…augh… I Guess we’ll just have to try to fill up with salad and frozen veggies. It will be hard but we’ll make it through.

I heard a stand-up comedian offer a funny appraisal of the McRib once (I can’t remember the comedian’s name though, sadly). I’ll paraphrase:

“The McRib is a lot like a dead-beat dad: it only shows up once in a great while and when it does, it expects you to make a big deal about it.” Funny stuff.

I ate one of the fiendish, much-ballyhooed sandwiches back when I was like 12 or something. I don’t remember being too impressed.

mandy I love cherry cordial kisses even though some people say they taste like cough syrup. I think my preference may be peanut butter, though.

Well, it is my goal of the week to eat a McRib and a whole whack of Easter chocolate.

Is it just me, or should Easter not be the week after St. Paddy’s Day?

Ghosted by Muppet Baby @ 03/18/2008 10:27 PM EST

I too get excited about the mcRib, though I stopped eating pork awhile ago. But even though I won’t eat it, I still love the commercials they have had in the past. Strangely, now I want a cheeseburger.

Easter is this weekend? Wow. Kinda snuck up on me, there. We don’t celebrate Easter here in China. We don’t believe in stuff like Jesus or pastel color-palettes or chocolate. We celebrate the Qingming (Pure Brightness) Festival on April 4th. During that festival, we offer sacrifices to our fallen ancestors and sweep out their tombs out of reverence, all the while worshipping no particular invisible man up in the clouds, sporting primary colors, eating raw sugar cane sold by a vendor in the street, and remembering that NOT A SINGLE ONE OF US IS ANYTHING SPECIAL AND WE ARE DAMNED LUCKY TO BE SO UTTERLY AVERAGE.

(The Chinese people have been nothing but extremely helpful and friendly to me during my stay here, but a lot of them could stand to lighten up a bit…and bring me some cheese. Mmmm, cheese…)

I just wanted to stop in and say happy belated St. Patrick’s Day to everyone….haven’t been around much as ‘real life’ has been heavy of late, those around here seem to all be too busy, and sitting online just seems to add to my ‘ugh’….but as they say “this too shall pass”….be well everyone

To my fellow XE Brawlers, I come with this great news:

I have discovered an easier way to unlock Sonic. One of the easiest ways is to beat Subspace Emissary to get him, but I found a quicker way.

All you have to do is beat Classic Mode with 10 characters. I had no idea, and when I beat Classic tonight with Gannondorf, all of a sudden I got the “Challenger Approaching!” screen with Sonic.

…I suggest beating SSE to get him. If you’re somewhat of a Smash Bros novice, I suggest going that way. He’s an absolute bitch to defeat. I had to try twice, and I got lucky with Kirby and lucked out with getting his Final Smash to do it.

You guys are going to make me break my once-a-week maximum visits to McD’s if you keep on talking about sandwiches from there. I’d ask that you refrain from such talk. I would like to not die at 32.

Hey guys, i’m “the troll” from Advent. I was just trying to have some fun. ANYWAY….. I am a longtime reader of X-E. I just read the whole SNT thing. From the Chinese/Korean dude to the McRib, i heard it all. If any of you have ANY questions about Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Worldwide, you can reply to this message. Thanks! -V.J.

I beat it on hard. w00t. Remember, I’ve never played Smash Bros., before, so allow me this small victory :P It looked like I was going to main with Pit, but right now I’m pretty convinced it’s Link.

Thanks, Squee :)

Ghosted by Knegative @ 03/19/2008 1:53 AM EST

I’d be able to beat “it” on hard (I’m assuming its Classic Mode…I hear the end of SSE is freakin hard on anything above Easy), but I’d rather just beat Classic with everyone first. Good for you, and all that. Not sarcastic.

That, and in the 2 games before Brawl, the difficulty went from Very Easy to Very Hard. This time around, they got rid of Very easy and added Intense. At first I thought they merely shifted the titled of Difficulty.

I was wrong. The AIs have gotten smarter since Melee, even on 1 difficulty. Some things in Challenges Mode requires to beat stuff on Intense. No Thanks, I’ll just Golden Hammer em.

As for “Mains” (I was never a fan of the Nerd Brawl terminology, but “Main” just seems pretty basic and self-explanatory), I think mine are:

Ice Climbers
Marth
Lucario
Meta Knight

I’d say Gannondorf too, but they REALLY made some changes in Brawl to him that I loved in Melee. I used to kick everyone’s ass as Gannondorf, now I just think they made him worse, despite one of the best Final Smashes in the game. Bastards.

Kneg, thats your Brawl Code, right? If so, I’ll be waiting for a challenge. :)

Leigha I made a video explaining how my goat cheese salad came out.

At this moment it’s still processing but I’m going to bed now so it should be done in a little while.

Ghosted by Goob @ 03/19/2008 6:10 AM EST

I’m going to have to agree with Kneg, McRib is McNasty. I haven’t had one in about 20 years and I still can’t get the taste out of my mouth.

Ghosted by Shaft @ 03/19/2008 6:19 AM EST

At least the critter they make McRibs out of hasn’t gone extinct, unlike Krusty Burger’s RibWich. (think multiple legs.)

Ghosted by kingklash @ 03/19/2008 12:26 PM EST

Goob That video effing rocked my socks. But alas, I forgot to tell you the methodology behind cooking it. In order to heat up the goat cheese/creamcheese mixture, we would blend them cold, and then put a little dollop (thats right, I used the word dollop) onto a bread plate, and then heat it up in the microwave for only about 10-15 seconds. Then we would plop it on top of the salad greens and put the crostini into the mass o’ cheese. The spaghetti seasoning thing is weird, I didn’t know there was any red in it…but like you said, we all learn each time we cook…maybe that’s why I like it so much, because each meal is like my own little experiment. The crostinis looked good, but after you put the cheese on them, I kept asking myself “where did that chicken wing come from?” It’s cool though, and I commend you on trying something new, without any real explanation from my end. Also, thanks for the 5 second staring contest at the end, I totally stared back. HA!

I have been reading your blog for years, but this is the first time I’ve ever felt the irresistable need to post something. First, what is SNT? And second, do you lack slack? Maybe you miss slack, but you probably don’t miss being a bum, because bums don’t have such impressive collections of miscellaneous priceless crap.

Ghosted by Rev. BackItOnUp @ 03/19/2008 12:38 PM EST

lol!! I’m glad you appreciated my video. I just wanted to do a video with no editing for you because editing is so friggin time consuming and I thought this wasn’t worth the time. I could of not put the seasoning in there and it would of tasted good. It tasted like to me like mozzarella string cheese but more dense. It said on the package cheddar cheese flavored goat cheese. I am open minded about cooking yes. One of my cousins is such a picky eater she won’t eat a tomato or whip cream. She’ll eat spaghetti though.

Staring contest lol! I didn’t do that on purpose I was just doing my ‘I have nothing left to say and I’m thinking of something to say right now’ look.

yeah, it was totally awesome though, AND you pronounced my name correctly. w00t. HAHAHA

Rev. Backitonup

What SNT means was already explained by me in this thread. Search for Goob and skim my comments I believe it was my first comment of the thread.

He always had an “impressive amount of priceless crap” he is a typical 20 something that cannot hold onto spending money for more then 24 hours. Before he had his job that he has now he worked at home selling on ebay. I know way too much about these things.

Ghosted by Goob @ 03/19/2008 1:33 PM EST

Thank You Goob. I knew I could count on you. That’s what I get for faithfully reading the blog, but never going near the comments.

You’ve got an authoritative way about you that really makes sense to me! You are President Goob.

Ghosted by Rev. BackItOnUp @ 03/19/2008 1:41 PM EST

Ahh!! That is why you read the blog but have never figured it out. I have been thinking lately everytime someone asks what is SNT they are being a smartass. Because EVERY THREAD someone asks anymore. But you genuinely were clueless so I am glad I didn’t snap at you.

It’s like last Halloween when people complained Matt wasn’t updating like he promised. Remember that people?? Good times!!

And I am not going to be president anytime soon. I am a butch lesbian. Maybe my children’s children’s children’s children’s children’s children but not me. Watch the video I made for Leigha definitely not president material lol!

Ghosted by Goob @ 03/19/2008 1:46 PM EST

Don’t sell yourself short, Goob. Almost everyone is president of something, and everyone else is searching high and low for someone to lead them.

I am converted – I’ll read the comments from now on – there is some very critical information embedded within!

Ghosted by Rev. BackItOnUp @ 03/19/2008 2:56 PM EST

I’m glad your converted. I think reading the comments are half the fun of visiting X-E. You get to hear everybody’s stories of their childhood, not just Matt’s. Thank you for your kind words.

Hey everybody I’m watching part of a tales of the darkside marathon on the sci fi channel, later on toon disney they are airing the brave little toaster. I have a copy on my comp so I’m going to skip it but I thought I would give everyone a heads up. It’s at 5pm here so it might be later/earlier where you live. I am in pacific time. Also they are airing Wayne’s world this week (tomorrow or the next day? I don’t know I was flipping through the guide pretty fast) on comedy central.

And Leigha the spices are more mild now. Which is good because last night it was so rich a little bit went a long way. Now I can eat two without suffering too much.

Ghosted by Goob @ 03/19/2008 3:25 PM EST

I’ve been on X-E for a few years now and still didn’t know what SNT stood for.

And I try to read most of the blogs too.

Has anyone else noticed that Easter seems to be getting hosed this year? In past years, it seemed you could count on a couple of Easter specials on various channels but ABC has been the only one to air anything (at least that I’ve noticed). One would think with the rabid commercialization of our culture, we should be Easter-ized by now. Hard to believe it’s this Sunday….

Glad to hear the McRib is back – I love that wonderful sandwhich. Now if I could only get McDonalds to serve Chicken Fajitas again. Or if I could find Kosher (read: made with real sugar, not corn syrup) Coca-Cola in my area….

Ghosted by jjwspider @ 03/19/2008 10:11 PM EST

I didn’t know there were Easter specials.

Ghosted by dohopoki @ 03/19/2008 10:34 PM EST

Anyone else remember the Claymation Easter Special from back in the day? It was hilarious. I agree. There is a lack of Easter specials these days. I went back and watched that one on You Tube not too long ago and it’s still funny.

I looked for your code, Norb. Couldn’t find it. Post again, plx.

It is Link. It is soooo Link. I can’t stand those Fire Emblem idiots.

Ghosted by Knegative @ 03/20/2008 2:31 AM EST

That’s a triple stack of awesome right there, Mystie! I’m envious.

Speaking of Easter specials, anybody find it weird that there’s no mention of Jesus in the Easter Beagle special? You’d think Linus would bust out one of his little speeches about tidings of great joy, but it’s all Marcy being a moron.

I don’t think I’ve posted my Brawl code yet, it’s 1891-0877-0050. I’m adding/will add everybody that’s posted their code already.

Ghosted by squee4242 @ 03/20/2008 2:41 AM EST

I added you, Squee. If anyone else specifically wants me to add them (outside of Norb and Squee) just let me know and I’ll dig back to find your number.

AIM is probably the way to go to contact me. I’ll start using it again, I swear :P

Please no crying over the McRib. In your freezer section OnCor sells a box of 6 frozen BBQ porks that you bake in your oven for 50 min. They are the same as McRibs and I eat 2 for lunch every day on a bun. Instant satisfaction.

Ghosted by Leigha @ 03/20/2008 12:03 PM EST

Yeah, I wish I had a Wii too. Wah. We don’t have a PS3 either. Not that I’m really wanting one or anything, but when Metal Gear Solid 4 comes out, and we still don’t have a PS3, I’m gonna be sad, and so will my man. D:

Ghosted by Annette @ 03/20/2008 12:39 PM EST

JillS, an alternative for anyone else like me (lazy, English, broke)…you can get Rustlers BBQ Pork Rib (in a bun), which microwaves in just over a minute and doesn’t dry out like most microwave stuff, it even comes with BBQ sauce.

It’s great, when you’ve been out partying (I might someday) you can throw in a burger without burning the place down, and in the morning they can help hangovers with Sausage and Bacon Baps.

Oo. Easter is only a few days away.
Soon… the fondant goodness will be sucked out of every single Cadbury Egg within a Three mile radius by Yours Truly. I will possibly enter a diabetic coma shortly thereafter, but I will be Sated- 6 weeks of Lent abstinence from Candy has done its toll. And oh… shall I pay.

Man, all this Smash Brothers talk almost makes me want to go out and buy a Wii. Amost, is the key term there. I’ve played it and honestly just can’t get into it. Just not my bag. I’m more of a PS3 guy….or will be, maybe in June when they come out with the rumble pack and I can actually afford one.

Anyways, for those of you guys who listen to my show, it’s on tonight at 2-4am (eastern). You can listen to it streaming live here. In honor of Women’s History Month, I’m doing my yearly Goddesses of Goth edition of the show. I’ll be playing nothing but female artists all night.

kinglash OMG that makes my whole week!! I always feel like the regulars here roll their eyes at my comments when I post a really long comment (but I do it anyway because I feel every word is relevant to the story) and when I post a lot at once answering people’s questions and stuff. Come to think of it why would anyone not like me answering people’s questions and stuff like that? Huh.

Guise The family size platter of BBQ rib patties I got were 3 dollars and some change. Definitely good for those weeks where a bunch of bills crept up on you and you need some cheap food. But I understand about food you get there we can’t get here and food you can’t get there and we can just go to the local store and get some. That sucks but that’s life. Eh, whatareyagonnado.

And about the video games thing, I decided practically literally overnight I don’t want to play serious modern games even though Wii’s make me curious and I played a bit of Mario Galaxy at a store around Christmas and it seemed like a lot of fun so I wouldn’t mind having one. BUT I would rather have a PS2 I know obsolete but this last summer I got two DDR pads for it and a PS2 game 20 bucks for all so I just need a PS2 to play with them. DDR is really the only modern game I am interested in anymore and exercise doesn’t hurt. I had it for xbox, the pad and a 20 dollar game but my sister (LONG story) stole the xbox, dance pad and game from me among other things. I am not speaking to hear anymore. After 10 months of living with her and me being overwhelmed with stress I moved out and found out certain things were missing. Well she denied it and my Grandma actually told me I should cut my losses and didn’t believe I had things in the first place. I moved out a year from last October.

I feel being around me is a gift and a pleasure and she doesn’t deserve it and that is just the way it is. Anyway please don’t pay attention to that too much I just wanted to tell you about my xbox and stuff… it’s funny my best friend that I live with has an xbox 360 elite. A couple of times though if there were Wii’s in stock in walmart he would of seriously got me one.

He got me a camcorder for Christmas that I wanted for youtube and rare home movies. Oh I finally got it to work on our new hdtv it’s supposed to work input and output (to play your videos on the tv and also to record tv onto the camcorder) I got the camcorder to show on the tv but not the other way around. I think I’ll have him look at it. I really I mean REALLY want to be able to record off of tv onto it to record clips and stuff but I haven’t gotten it to work on any tv this is the third tv so far. But if it works one way it should the other. When the screen changed I was so happy!! And I moved it around and it was cool.
