Friday I went to a few gun stores and looked at prices on a 9mm. Sunday I went with friends to a shooting range and rented a Baretta to try it out. I live in Texas. Most of us are shooting from age five on. Today I took my mother in law to McAllister’s Deli, bought new shoes at Target, watched the Simpsons and Cops, then worked on sewing my dress for a wedding I am the matron of honor in. Exciting, eh? Next week my college in on spring break.

YETI- I know, Man. CHEESE. It was all I thought about when I lived in Korea. Asia is void of cheese. It was really tough.

Ah, cheese! I LOVE cheese. Can’t imagine not having it. Seriously I can eat the stuff by itself. Although i’m careful to keep track of my cholesterol. lol.

I don’t know, my gramma always said cheese was “binding.” Don’t overdo it when you get some. Cramp city.

Yeah, the 60 hour week thing is draining the life out of me (and my wife, and my kids). Crap way to live. There’s a fine line between trying to better your situation by throwing yourself into work, and over-sacrificing. Once you get wrapped up in the work thing, it’s easy to forget what’s important. Stay focused on the big picture, Matt. “Too much work and no play…” and all that.

Yeah, cheese’ll block you up. Be sure to eat your giant slices of cheddar with some high-fiber crackers or something. XD

A nice mild cheese is okay on pizza, and certain kinds of cheese sauces are okay (like alfredo), but…I really don’t see how people can eat the stuff cold by itself. The smell of it makes me gag sometimes.

Oh man, overworking sucks. My fiance worked a bunch of hours with few days off and was ready to stab somebody in the face until recently. Now this week, he’s not getting enough hours. Consistency, people. That’s all we’re asking for here.

Annette, Thank you so much for standing up for us fellow cheese-haters. I think it’s just about one of the most disgusting things God has ever put on this earth, and I’m glad I’m not the only one. The only cheese I can tolerate at all is on pizza, but I spend half the time eating pizza picking it off cause there’s always too much. I won’t touch any other kind of cheese at all, not even cheese flavored stuff. Yeah, I know what you mean, always having to say “no cheese on that, please” to everything. All my friends think I’m crazy. I’m also incredibly anti-mayonnaise.

Jeff and Jessica Marie, I, too, have never known the joy of Disney World, or Disneyland, or any Disney themed place. I’ve always wanted to go. Maybe one day, late into my adult life, I’ll be able to run around and act like an idiot while eating over-priced food and hanging out with creepy giant mouse mascots. I’m actually not being sarcastic here for once. I really would like to go.

Speaking of working too much, I just got in from work a little while ago. I put in a 14 hour shift tonight and am somewhat exhausted. There were still 3 people there (including TOmmy!, who’ve I indoctrinated into this X-E thing) when I left. To top it off, I’ve somehow picked up some kind of bug in the last couple of days that has caused me to all but lose my voice completely. My throat is one big scratchy, sore mess and I can’t stop coughing or sniffling. Don’t get too close to your monitor if you’re reading this. You don’t wanna catch whatever I’ve got, trust me. I just hope it goes away by Thursday when I have my radio show, cause I’m going to sound pretty pitiful over the air if it doesn’t. I’m sure I’ll be alright though.

I blame cheese. I don’t know how, but somehow cheese is responsible for this.

Chestnuts roasted by DJ D @ 03/17/2008 7:01 AM

I’m an advocate for cheese, because when you have very little money you find cheese on toast goes with damn near anything. But then again, I’ve never suffered cheese side-effects (besides probably weight gain, cholesterol, mildly burnt mouth). I wear the cheese, the cheese does not wear me!

I also like to try fresh flavoured cheese…cheddar and apricot, cheddar and mango, stilton and cranberry, garlic mozarella. Though, I actually live only a few miles away from the real Cheddar, so it’d be rude not to like it.

Chestnuts roasted by Guise @ 03/17/2008 7:28 AM

Aw, Norbert. *hugs* I was out with a friend the other day and he was ragging on me for quoting The Simpsons even more than he does. We were at the $5 pizza buffet and he always eats like 8-9 plates full! Simpsons quotes are like a buffer zone. I almost got him to choke on some pepperoni when I belted out, “And then the doctor said that BOTH my eyes were lazy, and that’s why it was the best summer ever!”

Also on the subject of cheese, my pop pop used to say, “If you eat too much cheese, your asshole will grow shut.”

:)

Chestnuts roasted by Mystie @ 03/17/2008 7:53 AM

Mystie, I’m wondering if there might just be something secret added to the US version of cheddar. Do they add something like imodium to the milk, or a truck full of bran?

Chestnuts roasted by Guise @ 03/17/2008 8:38 AM

Mystie I don’t eat enough cheese for THAT to happen LOL !

Chestnuts roasted by ULTRAMAN @ 03/17/2008 9:02 AM

I love cheese. Grilled cheese sandwiches, regular cheese sandwiches w/ a liberal amount of butter on it, string cheese, quesadillas, list goes on. Even though we have a brick of goat cheese that we have no clue what to do with.

Anyway one time I ate a lot of grilled cheese sandwiches or something and I got constipated. So much it was really painful and I took milk of magnesium to get it out of there. My best friend told me not to overdo it or I would be in pain but I couldn’t help it.

“And then the doctor said that BOTH my eyes were lazy, and that’s why it was the best summer ever!”

I bet the happiest day of your life was when the doctor told you that you didn’t have worms any more.

I LOVE cheese. About the only kind I can’t really stand is cottage cheese. Although I did try fresh mozzarella not too long ago and wasn’t too impressed. It wasn’t bad or anything, but compared to the “nonfresh” (shredded, block, etc.) stuff I wasn’t impressed.

There is one cheese dish that is DEFINTELY overrated, and that is homemade mac and cheese, especially when they put crackers or whatever crunchy crap they put on top. Plus, it’s rarely cheesy, I find. Not to big a fan of tuna noodle casserole either. Casserole is codeword for crap in a pan.

I will ALWAYS pick a cheap box of mac and cheese over the homemade version.

Chestnuts roasted by JLAJRC @ 03/17/2008 11:38 AM

JLAJRC, I always pick cauliflower cheese over macaroni cheese. Though, I’ll take cauliflower/brocolli cheese over cauliflower cheese.

Cheesy smushed potato with spring onion alongside BBQ/ordinary grilled meat, and a mixed peppers, peas, corn medley and red onion is good in summer too. Especially served with chilled wine or beer.

Chestnuts roasted by Guise @ 03/17/2008 11:46 AM

Goob When I used to work at a restaurant, we had a goat cheese salad. And we would heat up the goat cheese which was mixed with a little bit of cream cheese and some herbs (like basil and oregano) and then put some crostinis into it. It was delicious. I am definitely a cheese advocate as well. Vive le fromage!

Hey Matt, I just noticed that there is a “Help Wanted” sign in the pet shop window. You should get a part time job there for discounted fish and those kickass sunken castle things you put in the aquarium. Plus, I’m sure you’ll get to keep all the reject fish that they dont want to display.

Chestnuts roasted by Jester @ 03/17/2008 1:03 PM

Haha, you’re welcome, DJ D. I’ve always hated the stuff, ever since I was little bitty. Of course, back then I was more adamant against it and wouldn’t touch something if it even had the slightest flake of cheese on it. Mac n’ cheese doesn’t count for some reason. Probably because it doesn’t taste like real cheese. XD

I also hate milk. God, I hate it. I have to have my fiance sniff to check if it’s bad because it always smells bad to me. Even skim milk is too much for me sometimes.

Also, I’ve never been anywhere, much less Disney World Land. The only big park I’ve been to is Six Flags Over Texas, and I only went because my man begged me to. Rollercoasters + 90-degree humid heat + me = epic fail.

Chestnuts roasted by Annette @ 03/17/2008 1:49 PM

Leigha I should try that then! When you say Crostinis you mean croutons right?

Chestnuts roasted by Goob @ 03/17/2008 2:24 PM

Little Brither now works on a dairy goat farm up in Kansas, and is anticipating the birth of several kids, and a small truckload of cheese. He’s been learning the trade, and may have found his calling as a cheesemaker. Blessed are the cheesemakers…..

Chestnuts roasted by kingklash @ 03/17/2008 3:33 PM

Annette, Man, we are so on the same wavelength then, cause I hate milk too! Always have. I buy a tiny bit here and there for cereal but that’s the only thing I ever use it for, and even then I only use enough to get it wet a little bit. I refuse to drink it, and yeah, I know what you mean. I’m always paranoid that it’s gone bad and have to get other people to smell it for me. It just always smells the same unless it’s gone way bad, in which case it’s obvious. Oddly enough, I love ice cream.

On the subject of quoting TV shows, Seinfeld seems to be in my permanant vocabulary, and is kind of my test when I meet new people to see if I can get along with them. If they pick up on the constant quotes, then I know there’s a possiblity I can get along with them. Squidbillies is starting to become that way with me too.

I quote the great Johnny LaRue from Lunch Time Street Beef, “John Casavetes; filmmaker, or just jerking around?”

I’m from Quebec. We are BIG on Cheese. Last month, I hosted a “cheese party” and everyone had to bring a strange, weird cheese they had always wanted to try but never did…we had gouda, brie, camembere, goat cheese, blue cheese, etc etc. AWESOME.

Muppet Baby, if you like brie, I’ve had the most awesome panini before. BBC…Bacon, Brie and mango Chutney. Awesomeness beyond compare.

DJ D, my brother and I tend to quote from Bottom, Young Ones and Fry and Laurie (especially Tony and Control) far too much.

Annette, I’ve been to Parc Asterix and Disneyland Paris. Parc Asterix is truly awesomely dull, the best bit about it is the log flume that comes close to giving everyone whiplash and the amazingly empty car park outside. Disneyland Paris is good though.
