My fiance has offered to translate for us:

どこに住んでいるか。私は日本に住み、訳者が付いているこ.私はチーズを憎むも。ページを読む.

Where do you live? I live in Japan, and I’m studying translation. I hate cheese, too. I’ll read this page.

アメリカでそれらは青いチーズを食べるか。日本でその白そして黄色ここに。

In America, you eat blue cheese? In Japan we only have white and yellow cheese.

I just had corned beef hash for dinner. I don’t know if it was deliberate or a coincidence.

everytime someone puts the letters “X” and “E” next to each other (referring to this site of course) i end up looking at it sideways like an emoticon… it kind of looks like a pissed off guy with a big geraldo mustache… dont you think? X-E…

so Anonymous, you’re 12 years old, and you don’t speak Spanish very well? Is that right? Its been so many years since i took a Japanese class…

否、私は英語をとてもよく話さない。私は日本語しか話し、スペイン語はい12 才であり。私はインターネットの訳者をこのページを読むのに使用する。

vea, yo puede hablar español.

Ghosted by Anonymous @ 03/17/2008 8:19 PM EST

Ich kann in anderen Sprachen auch sprechen.

O en español

Ou un petit français

Aren’t I cool too? Sadly, I don’t know any Japanese.

Goddamn it…that’s something else that I’m missing over here in the Far East: MILK! Real milk, anyway. They sell some kind of godless, non-dairy, faux-milk over here in cartons. I tried it once and recoiled in such a fashion that most people typically reserve for the viewing of autopsy footage or tribal genocide. I can’t understand it…this country can host an Olympics, but it can’t offer me milk. Something doesn’t add up, here…

Speaking of milk and cheese, are there any fans of Evan Dorkin comics like “Milk & Cheese: Dairy Products Gone Bad” here on the X-E Blog? I haven’t read those comics for years, but I always got a real kick out of them. Just curious…

Ghosted by The Yeti @ 03/17/2008 9:16 PM EST

Holy Jeezus…speak of the devil! I just did an X-E search for Evan Dorkin and found an interview Matt did with him way back in ‘00. Wild stuff.

You should try being a paramedic. Low ass pay and long ass hours. And zero appreciation.

i bet our resident vegetable at X-E appreciated the paramedics when they pulled him out of his mangled truck on halloween night. if that is any consolation

You need to pay extra for that, Mystie.

$9.95 the first month, $you’ll see for every month after.

Ghosted by Invader Norbert @ 03/17/2008 11:37 PM EST

Mystie My thoughts EXACTLY. Anywho, Goob A crostini is like a huge oversized crouton. We used old stale bread and then cut them into small round pieces and baked them again to make them crunchy. they are like a really skinny really big crouton, and I love them. No wonder I lost about 20 pounds after quitting that job…..

Ghosted by Leigha @ 03/17/2008 11:38 PM EST

Oh, the Japanese poster is 12 years old, and he’s just doing this to mess with us, basically.

For example, this:

日本からある、または日本語を学んだアメリカ人であるか。

“This is from Japan, is there yet another American who hath learned Japanese?”

And other sorts of pompous things.

Ghosted by Annette's Fiance @ 03/17/2008 11:46 PM EST

As fun as translations are….. I haven’t posted in a while (since advent) and I just wanted to invite everyone to see what has kept me so busy for a good cause. Please check out this fundraiser I created at my medical school to support the American Cancer Society’s Breast Cancer Programs: http://www.canvasofhope.org
Thanks! now back to translations

I’m not even seeing any Japanse on the page. All I’m getting is a bunch of small squares. Doesn’t sound like it was all that interesting anyway.

Went to see Doomsday tonight–the new one with Kate Beckinsale. Great movie if you can suspend your disbelief and check your brain at the door. I had to call shenanegans (i.e. bullshit) on a few things in it, but otherwise it looked great and was a lot of fun, as long as you don’t expect too much practicality or realism. Surprising though, since it was directed by Neil Marshall, who directed what I thought was the best horror movie to come out in 2006–Descent. Actually, probably one of the best horror movies I’ve ever seen, and I’ve seen a whooooooole lot.

vwarb,
Yes, I consider myself an ardent admirer of John Q. Paramedic and the craft he administers. I had never thought too highly of the paramedics of Pike County, Ohio (the county in which I crashed my truck and also the county in which I spent my childhood) simply because it is a decidedly redneck county brimming with unwashed, uneducated degenerate meth-chefs. However, my opinion of the population (its paramedic constituency, at any rate) was drastically modified when a handful of Pike County residents BROUGHT ME BACK FROM THE DEAD!!! And then, as if that feat by itself wasn’t enough to garner my reverence, they went and BROUGHT ME BACK FROM THE DEAD AGAIN ABOUT ELEVEN SECONDS LATER!!! I will never again have a negative comment to make about Pike County paramedics (or any paramedics, in general), for it is by virtue of them “just doing their jobs” that I am alive and kicking today. I cannot fathom the stress inherent to performing the duties of a paramedic. Theirs is truly a profession that deserves respect in its highest measure.

Sorry about the thread derailing, guys. I really hope nobody got too irritated or anything. @_@

I was merely impressed that my ancient computer was able to view the Japanese font, instead of just showing me squares and things… :0)

Goob- MMMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmm

Leigha Ahhh ok!

All of the japanese jibber jabber reminded me of a video I uploaded this weekend. It’s a spanish lesson for useful phrases. It’s not safe for work, OF COURSE it’s not it’s coming from me!!

Doomsday didn’t have Kate Beckinsale in it, it was an actress by the name of Eden Sinclair. Very hot. How was the movie?

Ghosted by Shaft @ 03/18/2008 6:24 AM EST

Goob, brilliant. I always love how completely impassive those voices are on the CDs and tapes. I’ll always remember the ones of “Can you please call me an ambulance” and “May I use your restroom”, thinking ‘how the hell are they so calm?!’

My last video was just Creme Egg molestation. I am shamed!

I’m a little curious to know why Matt didn’t post anything on St. Patrick’s day. So many things to post about that he had to have something. I’m betting drunk off green beer laying in a ditch somewhere.

On a Easter related note found something odd the other day. Spice Hot Tamales, basically instead of your basic hot Tamales these taste like normal Spice drops. Or that’s the theory at least, tried them and there is something…a little off about them.

Ghosted by Wenthral @ 03/18/2008 8:23 AM EST

I missed SNT because I was in Shreveport, LA for a wedding. I wasn’t there very long but I discovered I didn’t like LA very much. It was nice to get back to Texas!

Who’s ready for post-easter candy sales? I can’t wait to stock up on Cadbury eggs. On a related note, I have to make about 8 dozen Devilled eggs this weekend. My hands are going to look like prunes…

Ghosted by Cameron T. @ 03/18/2008 9:42 AM EST

Yeah, Doomsday was a badass movie. Just great fun- the movie would have been right at home as one of the halves of Grindhouse. A mash up of Escape from NY, Mad Max, and Planet Terror. Good stuff.

Ghosted by Joker @ 03/18/2008 11:06 AM EST

…Devilled Eggs, hey, that gives me an awesome idea!

Cameron, the eggs are already going on special offer in the UK. Quite a lot of places are doing BOGOF deals or similar. There is currently a slight price war between supermarkets over who can sell branded eggs at the lowest price.

I have my Brawl code. It’s at home, though.

If anyone would like to kick my arse, wait with bated breath for it.

I guess I could give you guys the skinny, instead of just posting all cryptically and stuff. My grandmother had some serious health issues and was in the hospital for a good while. I moved in with my grandfather to help take care of him, while my mother stayed at the hospital. I put off student teaching until the fall, and well everything is pretty good right about now. She’s out and moving about, and I’ve moved back home.

It’s all good. What did I miss? :P

McRib is like McEww. I had a generic batch of them a couple years back and was sick off of my arse.

It was not good times.

Conditioned taste aversion, ftl.

Ghosted by Knegative @ 03/18/2008 5:13 PM EST

I think it’s good to have the McRib at least once in your life if you like Ribs. The meat itself is neutral. Unlike actual ribs, it’s real bland, and it’s not really cooked or marinated or whatever it’s called in BBQ sauce like actual ribs. They just take a unseasoned rib and pour a ton of BBQ sauce on it. That’s a McRib. With that being said, I enjoyed it, although I’ll be sticking to Big Macs. Be prepared to use a lot of napkins. I had to wipe my hands after each bite. It might be better to use a fork and knife.

Ghosted by Rich @ 03/18/2008 5:42 PM EST

I’ve never had a McRib, but I’ve always wanted one. Basically to say I’ve eaten it.

Hell, I’ve looked up pics of em on Flickr, they seem pretty good.

Arthur C Clark died. Didn’t make it to 2010.

Hmm, apparently director Anthony Minghella just passed away too. Wonder if there’ll be a third.

Sorry to hear that your grandmother was doing poorly, Kneg. Glad she’s doing better now :) Place hasn’t been the same without ya!

The McRib sounds totally unappetizing to me. Plus, I don’t want to support their ridiculousness. “The McRib is GONE FOREVER. IT IS NO MORE.” Three months later… “The McRib is BACK!”
