If you live in Sweden, you see that cartoon every Christmas evening on the regular hilariously-commercial-now-that-I’m-older-and-thinking-about-it Disney hour at 15.00. I think it’s a shortened version though, all the stuff in that show is. Other random pieces (without any Christmas association whatsoever) that people would riot over if they dared remove is the vacation in the super-high-tech mobile home with Donald, Mickey and Goofy, and the Donald’s photo expedition with the wacky bird… Sweden is strange.

Pluto’s Christmas Tree is back up on YouTube, so catch it while you can! Donald’s Snow Fight is there as well as Mickey’s Christmas Carol. Time to recreate the original airing of Mickey’s Christmas Carol!

I thought I was the only one who felt that way about Pluto’s Christmas Tree! That’s always been my second favorite holiday cartoon (A Garfield Christmas is my favorite) and I still love the scene of them walking along the branches admiring the decorated tree. I did the same thing as a little sprout – laid on my back with my head under the tree looking up through the branches. Always made me wish I could shrink down to cartoon rodent size and stroll among the branches. Thanks for bringing back such a great memory, Matt! Merry Christmas!

My mother and her husband have started doing the fake tree thing as well. She got one of those cool fiberoptic trees because she hated vacuuming up the needles from the carpet. It’s pretty, but it doesn’t smell like pine!!

I think Cameron’s idea is a good one. One year my father was feeling particularly festive and went so far as to decorate every potted plant in the house. He even draped tinsel on the giant stone Buddha that lives in our living room. My father is a self-styled “buddhist” except that he doesn’t actually meditate or practice in any way…

Katie, tell him they are from a renewable source and you’ll only get one marked as such, and then look and see if the council do a “green bag” special collection after Christmas – that way it is going for compost and not to the tip.
