i wonder if asking aloud for the new advent calendar may do some good.

Chestnuts roasted by kittymao @ 12/11/2007 7:32 PM

Kitty, ooh, I hope so. It’s the only reason that I’m not tucked up in bed with my dog-earred copy of Hogfather already!

Chestnuts roasted by Guise @ 12/11/2007 7:40 PM

grand, Guise, Hogfather is one must-ready every Christmas :)

Chestnuts roasted by melonian @ 12/11/2007 7:45 PM

Melonian, and I have for the last several years, as well as giving it to people as a ‘month early Christmas gift’ before. It was actually the first Pratchett book I read.

Chestnuts roasted by Guise @ 12/11/2007 7:49 PM

Yay! I’m an icon! heeheehe. You know, my VP of Marketing saw it on my screen while I was working on it and loved it. I just told him it was “for a friend”. Somehow “murderous, plotting revolutionary bunnies” didn’t sound quite right.

Chestnuts roasted by Ann @ 12/11/2007 7:54 PM

Guise I do the very same thing, but with Good Omens, all the year. I think I’ve given that book as a present more than ten times.

My first Pratchett was Mort…now I have my private little collection with more than 80 books (novels, companions, graphic novels, plays) of him. I even take longer periods from book to book so that I always have a couple of new books to read every year and I don’t run out of it. Right now I’m in the middle of Going Postal and it’s just great :)

Chestnuts roasted by melonian @ 12/11/2007 7:54 PM

I agree. Hogfather is definite holiday reading material!

Chestnuts roasted by Dan H @ 12/11/2007 7:55 PM

Ha, Good Omens usually goes in to my read pile around about March/April time when I need a pick-me-up. No matter how many times I read it, something new always catches me.

I queued for ages to miss Terry at a book signing, because the shop had to shut before the last of us got in, but he did speak to everyone outside for a little while who couldn’t see him in the shop. That was around about the launch of, I think Monstrous Regiment. In hindsight, I should have pre-ordered the signed book and queued to buy a second to sign there.

Still, I’m only a short distance from the areas he usually does an appearance at, and still haven’t decided if I’ll risk the hour long train ride to next years convention.

Chestnuts roasted by Guise @ 12/11/2007 8:03 PM

For a signed copy of Good Omens/Hogfather I’d risk it. :D
I haven’t read all of the Discworld/Pratchett novels but I am slowly working my way thru them.

Chestnuts roasted by Dan H @ 12/11/2007 8:07 PM

I have a signed copy of Good Omens. He wrote
“333 We Made The Devil Do It”

he’s the master…
anyway, I’m going to bed now, I’ll dream of some potatoes

Chestnuts roasted by melonian @ 12/11/2007 8:15 PM

That he is…and, I’m off too! Good luck for the night, and remember:

‘Yeah, well, I didn’t sign up for world domination,’ said Medium Dave. ‘That sort of thing gets you into trouble.’

Chestnuts roasted by Guise @ 12/11/2007 8:21 PM

if only someone had warned the bunnies…

Chestnuts roasted by kittymao @ 12/11/2007 8:29 PM

300212 could it refer to december 20 2003? in all of the shots Mare is tauting her brother while wearing mista snowman’s lame hat

Chestnuts roasted by Beau @ 12/11/2007 9:38 PM

slow night eh?
im still waiting for my response from carrot4yourthoughts i wonder what i’ll have to do
wonder when todays calendar will be up

Chestnuts roasted by Graham @ 12/11/2007 11:03 PM

I agree Graham, it is a very slow night. Hopefully there will be plenty of bunny goodness posted soon.

Chestnuts roasted by Dan H @ 12/11/2007 11:57 PM

This is a very poor procrastination tool if no one posts anything.

Chestnuts roasted by Vanilla Fire @ 12/12/2007 12:21 AM

Then let the night be slow no more! I just got my wireless internets hooked up in my house. There’s something here that makes me want to take pictures and post them for your viewing terror. I’ll do that tomorrow, when it’s day time.

Also, I have no chair until Friday. O_o

Chestnuts roasted by Ben @ 12/12/2007 12:52 AM

Maybe I spoke too soon. :O

Chestnuts roasted by Ben @ 12/12/2007 1:39 AM

Well, I decided to email them again and try to sound more enthusiastic. To help this end, I included a picture of my own. :)

Oh, and the title of my email was “RussianOwnedTitan”. Yes, that is an anagram. (I am not, in any way, a Russian-owned titan. At least I hope not)

Chestnuts roasted by Frakkyfire @ 12/12/2007 2:28 AM

Frakky…I suck at anagrams. What’s your subject line translate to?

I’m off to bed…studying’s getting nowhere, and the boards here are pretty much dead. ‘Night y’all.

Chestnuts roasted by Vanilla Fire @ 12/12/2007 2:49 AM

Vanilla Fire – I cheated, and used a website to make it, but the subject line is ‘An Outsider Wants In’.

It does seem rather dead, doesn’t it? And of course, now and 6:00am are the only times I can get online. :(

Chestnuts roasted by Frakkyfire @ 12/12/2007 2:53 AM

Not to sound like the n00b that I am, but how in the heck do I get words to be bold???? I figured now is as good a time to ask as any, since I won’t be holding up any pressing conversation. Actually, I think the only conversation that would be going on right now would be with myself anyway – everyone else is gone.

Chestnuts roasted by Frakkyfire @ 12/12/2007 2:56 AM

Frakky…I figured it out using the Facebook notes, but basically, you just use the carats (carrots, haha) with a “b” inside()–no parentheses really, then the word/s you want in bold, then the carats with a slash-b inside ()–again, no parentheses really. For italics, you do the same thing, except with an “i” instead of a “b.”

Chestnuts roasted by Vanilla Fire @ 12/12/2007 3:11 AM

Not gone, just amusing myself elsewhere. There’s a website where you can make your own custom skins for Wiis, 360s, PS3s, etc! I’ve been designing a bitchin’ MegaMan based Wii skin. :D

Anywho, to make something bold, you type XYZ, only replace the brackets [] with greater than/less than signs > and the other one, only reversed because it’s really hard to work around this. For italics, replace the B with I. Lowercase works too, of course. :) And for embedded links… Ai yai yai, I don’t want to bother with those. Hope this helped!
