Hmm… My goal for tomorrow, other than finishing a lab manuscript, reading a pro-death penalty argument (to balance the anti-death penalty argument I read earlier for my ethics class), and getting as much Super Mario Galaxy in as possible, is to compile a summary of every keyword, picture title, link, encrypted message, etc. But first, I gots to sleep.

Ben bugged me into writing my ideas for the numbers… according to basic numerology laws:
the 7’s that appear 4 times stand for thought and consciousness… your doing this and thinking of the creation
23= 2+3 = 5 which means action… you had to go though many actions to get to the end which is unending, as you still end up with 5 hence the restlessness part of the definition.
666 is 18 = 9 which is compleation
Using the Chaldean method of english letter numeric values you end up with
Teaser= 2 receptive
Takeover= 5 action
Rabbit= 3 interaction
if this doesnt really mean anything i’m going to be really pissed… damn you ben…

I am so confused. So there’s Jupiter and one of its moons, Irish corpses who cared about their appearance and who died rather horribly, the Number of the Beast (which could be one of three things, but is definitely over 600) and Frank Burns (who is somebody’s muse or something)?

Given the music, couldn’t the object in eve.mov be the manger from a nativity set underneath a gauzy curtain? It does sort of look like a square object with fake hay texture on. I don’t think that any of the shadows or shapes visible in the texture of the curtain are going to be meaningful, given the level of technology involved here.
The fact that the movie is under a folder called “WaitWaitWait” could be a reference to the Advent tradition of displaying a Nativity scene with an empty manger up until Christmas Day. Or it could be a sign that this is the end of the clues for now and that we’ve got to wait for further clarification. Perhaps Ben will get another message from chairboat.

My whole theory on #23 is that it’s a Cloverleaf teaser. The monster’s a giant rabbit bent on ruining the good time of timewasting nerds.
Another theory: there is absolutely no meaning for any of this. I think Matt just created this just to see how many people would get involved in this.
I’m not having a good time this week so anything to keep my mind busy is welcome, frivilous or not.

dohopoki, I tend to agree with the “Our Muse has Burns” thinking, seeing as the box that Santa was smoked in was box number 23. (I always thought they looked like kangaroos rather than bunnies though.)

I’m coming into this late, so this may have already been mentioned, but did anyone else notice how much the hands “something is new” page look like the hand in the photo of the bog men.
also, there are several easter references in the cryptic note. “Let’s do pastels…” a reference to the pastels of easter and “ovals better than circles” eggs are oval. I’m pretty sure the rabbit is taking over christmas

Those bunny playsets are super creepy, especially the “Bunny School” with the little bunny teacher. I don’t trust them.
I am in no way smart or crafty enough to figure out any of this stuff, but you people working on it are totally awesome. If someone asked me to solve crazy anagrams or translate a page of Wingdings into normal text I’d probably cry, but you guys don’t seem to have much trouble with it. Kudos.

I still have my Sega Dreamcast, one of the most underrated games systems of all time. It is too bad that everyone believed Sony’s lies and held off for the PS2. “Toy Story” quality CGI graphics my ass. So the Dreamcast died a quick, silent death. The funny thing is everyone that owned one, except maybe for Matt, loved theirs.
I need to hook mine up again and catch up with Seaman. We haven’t spoken in years.

I wanna play too. I watched that eve movie way too much. First is it just me or does the song sound like ave maria? Also obviously I think the title of the clip refers to Christmas Eve. also for those seeing 7s everywhere the clip changes color at the 7second mark.
However the biggest thing I finally realized (and it helps if you watch it with the contrast all the way up) is at the 12 second mark and continuing whenever the camera goes around is in the bottom left you see something under the darker image. Anyway I’m pretty sure that the video is a very grainy extreme closeup of Mista Snowman’s hat. It has the two sides and the bottom archs around the brim. Also if you go back the the 12/2/2003 advent entry you’ll see that the hat sits on his head tilted to the side which is why when the camera moves you can only see one side of his head. I’m like 95% sure on this and everytime I watch it now all I can see is Mista Snowman.
I think it means our old pal will be making a heroic return on christmas eve.

Rodge, I found actually slowing it was more useful than speeding it, because you can make out parts of words. Although I keep getting “Egg Man” stuck in my head.
Slowing and shifting around the equalization settings to knock off some of the noise, the vocal hissiness not so much done for it.

Fellow conspirators of the 23… I swear I clicked on all of the titles on the waitwaitwait page last night, and this audio clip was NOT there… The same thing happened on the ‘wait 7 seconds’ page - right? I wonder if this puzzle is going to be revealed each day and if we’re just spinning our tires looking for the next clue until tomorrow (or whenever) when Matt releases it??? Wow, that IS the creepiest audio clip ever! Aside from what everyone else heard, I also heard “We must visit Andy Warhol” (I think this is where Guise heard ‘We must wreak uncertain peril’, which is far more likely than mine), as well as “We are not wonderful, we are not beautiful” before the “We are not monsters” line.
So far my theory is that an army of mutant rabbits are coming to take over Christmas and kill Mare, with the dubious help of Mista Snowman. And Andy Warhol.

OH CRAP - They’re replacing Christmas with Easter, because it’s too commercialized! I can’t believe I didn’t get that sooner - duh “Destruction is useless without a plan to rebuild/Let’s replace primaries (red and green) with pastels/Ovals (as already mentioned, eggs), better than circles (wreaths, bulbs, etc)”!
Also - will it still work if I send an email to the address, and is that how you got the video? I just started this thing, so I’m waaaaay behind.

In that case, lemme tell you what I got from ItParrot: nothing. It’s waaaay too distorted for me to even pretend to decipher what he’s saying, and I’m even using my fancy shmancy headphones! All it sounds like to me is someone breathing into the mic.
Although, around 16 seconds, when the rabbit outline is visible, it sounds like the voice is saying “It means nothing.”

I had a bunny once. He as a lop-eared, dark gray rabbit named Max. He chewed through the power cord for my brother’s receiver. We had to repair the damn thing using some kit he bought at Radio Shack. Max didn’t really like anybody. He hated being picked up and would scratch the hell out of the underside of my forearms every time I tried to using his massively strong hind legs.
When I moved I had to give him to a second cousin who lived on a farm. The one and only time I wasn’t heartbroken at losing a pet. What can I say, he just wouldn’t let me be close to him. His claws saw to that.

Hi, I’m new to the game, but I’ve been following along from the beginning. Somebody on one of the earlier threads mentioned that there were rabbits in the 2002 Advent calendar, and sure enough there were (click my name to go that entry).
This got me thinking: Maybe the unfinished 2002 calendar could come into play somehow this year. My theory about the four 7’s is this: 4 weeks (of 7 days) = 28 days. 25 days of this year’s advent calendar + 3 days never completed from 2002 = 28. Guise’s possible identification of “We are survivors from the first one” above lends some credence to this, as, obviously, 2002 was “the first one” (in terms of X-E Advent calendars anyway). To be sure, this is only a crackpot fringe theory as of yet, but perhaps it’s something worth thinking about in some capacity.
Anyway, it’s only 3 days now! I can’t wait to see what’s in store for Mare, Kuse and Knacks this year!

Guys, thanks so much all for your amazing sleuthing skills. I’ve been lurking for a while now, trying to make sense of it all too; the conspiracy with the bunnies coming from 2002 makes sense to me, so does all the “target: mare” etc.

Ok…this is so weird …I’m hearing the wav clip of hssxxlloo over and over, and I flashed on an image that’s really freaky.
Kittymao: thanks for the picture and comparisons, especially how it showed the burned santa being pulled from the wreckage.
I had the oddest idea that the bunnies have kidnapped that Santa from 2006 to train him to be their puppet in the 2007 takeover. What we heard was a clip from the brainwashing/torture sessions that 2006 santa was going through…they were trying to convince him to come over to their side.
Maybe the “him” they’re referring to that they have to get rid of is NOT Santa; maybe it’s Knack’s and Mare’s kid! I mean, he’s been born to the lady in White, right? SO maybe some sort of Jesus figure thing going on? Jesus has to die and be reborn too, right? 
(I’m sorry, I’m not too sure about this part, and I don’t want to offend any one either on these boards ;D)
Or maybe Mare is expecting another kid this season, and the bunnies are scared he’ll herald a new age in, so they have to kill him (or use the burned 2006 santa for that). That’s why there’s the repeated “we’re not evil, we’re not monsters”.

So bunnies have kidnapped Santa? This kinda reminds me a comic that came out in the 90s called “The Lobo Christmas Special” (or something like that) in which the Easter Bunny got tired of Santa stealing his holiday thunder and hired Lobo to rub him out. Of course, bloodshed insued. It was a great, funny comic.
Any chance of “The Main Man” possibly making an appearence sometime during the Countdown?

maybe it’s just an emailbot Matt set up to send that ONE email to whoever emails it, and then shuts down.

by the way, isn’t this a great pre-advent-advent calendar? the waitwaitwait page popping up a new file every day? the mulling and gabbing over PLAYMOBIL BUNNIES!?

Does anyone else thing that the /BatRib/ArtEvoke/WaitWaitWaitWait page will eventually lead us to four different media files? First we had the Eve.MOV, then the next day we had the Hssxxllo.wav file, and finally the ItParrot.MOV. Since the address has the word “wait” four times, perhaps four different files will be revealed, in due time. The question is would we have two more files coming, or just one more. The Eve.MOV was there from the beginning so it may not count as one of the four that we have to “wait” for. Or maybe it does.

First of all, Guise, holy freaking crap, dude! Great job with your database thing! That’s WAY better than what I could have done.
This is going to sound like a shot in the dark, but I e-mailed Matt about our good friend Hssxxllo and whether he could be my friend, but, as to be expected, Matt hasn’t responded.
……Since Matt has a rabbit named Jupiter, do you think he could have three other rabbits named Chair, Boat, and Stamp? There are four Waits in the link, so maybe four rabbits with odd names?
I’m afraid this will be the last post I’ll be able to make for the day. I have my last biology test tomorrow and if I spend time here, I kindly ask anybody to verbally (or physically) beat me for not studying. Good luck, guys!
