I was told by former poster Arete aka Childlike Empress that due to the overall structure of the Discworld series, you can start with the first book, but picking any book wont rip you up too badly. Although, there are various arcs that you might want to indulge in if you want to see how a particular character fares. Since Death is the main man in Hogfather, you can also read The Colour of Magic, the Light Fantastic, Mort, Reaper Man, Soul Music in that order. Which means I have some heavy reading to do myself, as I am not very well versed on Pratchett. Damn my eyes.

Ben, you might want to start by clicking 23 on the Advent calendar. All the mystery and the inclusion of the number 23 kinda reminds me of the LOST Experience. And much like the LOST Experience, I'm going to have to leave it to smarter minds then my own to actually figure things out :D

I was checking out Hogfather at Borders the other day. Is it appropriate for someone's first Pratchett book? Or are there other books I should read first?
