My dying wish is for an owl/camel hybrid, which I call camowl.

BOOGAZ.

Narrowly managing to fend off the pen-and-pad-clad masses as I entered Toys 'R' Us with my newfound fame, I dodged the vile paparazzi hanging near the back-to-school section and made my way to the clearance racks.

Sadly, clearance racks aren't what they used to be. When I was a kid, I'd get things like the Wheeled Warriors accessory sets -- each with two rubbery "Monster Minds" brains -- for eight cents a pop. Whereas "clearance" used to roughly equate to "please get this shit out of our store," now it's just a clever way of saying, "this is on sale." It's a bit of a crapshoot, but sometimes, you win out:

These toys are so not my style, but I have to admit a certain appreciation for Boogaz, a gross-out toyline made by Moose Enterprises. Moose apparently has like twenty-thousand tons of sticky/slimy toy material, as this is no less than their eighteenth attempt to market toys that make use of such materials in the past few years.

The disgusting concept: Kids purchase plastic noses (or large picking fingers, which are pricier) that are stuffed with copious amounts of ooze, and at least one official Boogaz figure. There are 24 figures in all to collect, and some are rarer than others. Borrowing liberally from the Monster In My Pocket series, the figures are assigned point values to help us understand which are "common," "rare" or "glowing ultra rare." My kingdom for a "glowing ultra rare" Boogaz figure.

The fun's in the mystery. When you buy a nose, there's no telling which figure might be inside. The package also states that one out of every six noses has two figures lurking among the hidden ooze. Moving past the off-putting notion that this is a toy collection dedicated to snot, I kinda like the cut of its jib. Hope I pick a winner...

Damn. While "Sir Picks Alot" is worth a respectable nine points, he's still a common figure, delivering nowhere near the level of glory of, say, the forty point "Skummy Mummy."

Once you get the loose slime off (harder than it sounds), the figures serve as strangely-shaped Wacky Wall Walkers -- you can splat 'em against the nearest wall, and if the gods decide to take pity on you, they'll do their little gooey vertical catwalk much to the delight of dimwits and house cats everywhere.

The slime itself counts as a toy, and to really push the idea that it's snot, it's really watery slime. Much different from normal toy slime fare. There's really no way to get it all back in the nose container once you yank it out, and I eventually had to give up and wash my hands clean. I don't like it when toys create a need for me to wash myself, but since I'm getting to pull rubbery medieval knights out of noses, I'm gonna give this one a pass.

This is probably a minority opinion, but I like Boogaz toys. Gonna marry 'em.

Happy SNT.

What a terrible crime, there’s no Wikipedia entry for Boogaz.

Okay, wow, that last post was riddled with spelling errors and, you know what, it’s Sphere Shot, not Sphere Kick.

Apparently, I was drunk this morning. 4pm, you say? That’s when I woke up today. Yeah.

I missed out on the boogies. happy (late) SNT. I spent last night at my ten year reunion. Probably one of the funniest nights I had in forever. I only went to this school freshman year, so I wasn’t truly an alumni, but I was amazed at the amount of people who I knew and recognized. Especially considering the graduation class was 750. Has anyone else here gone/soon to go to theirs?

Wow, sux I missed out on Matt’s BIG moment. Totally cool though. I was shocked. Anyhoo…..yeah..sory no big comment on the BOOGAZ thing. Just saying Hi.

I think this is the deadest SNT I’ve seen in a while. I actually was out having a life for once…imagine that.

Chestnuts roasted by Annette @ 08/19/2007 8:59 PM

Hooray! It’s citygirl!

Oof! I tied two on last night. I think I should take it easy on the old liver for a few weeks. Sounds like Kneg did the same. :)

Sorry I was late to the party, but I got off early last night, due to early work this morning. Good thing I DID work early. It started raining as I was riding home from work, picked up an hour after I got in, and hasn’t let up since.

This is off-topic, but I saw the first fall decorations and Halloween candy of the season at the grocery store where I work. This makes me happy. Finally, the dog days of summer are ending, and autumn (and Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas!) are just around the corner.

It seems like for once all the stars aligned and most of the regulars were all out at once…I too had a bit of a crazy night, both Friday and Saturday, but man was it much needed. I second Bill’s idea on giving the liver a break, though….

My roomates moved out a few days ago and took the phone/interent account with them. 2 days without internet is like torture. I really use the web much more than I watch TV…Anyhoo, I’m back online baby!

I REFUSE to allow my liver time to breathe. I have tomorrow off, so I am taking this opportunity to abuse myself on a Sunday night. It seems so summer vacation! I hope everyone’s night is enjoyable! Happy SunNT.

KB: Was supposed to have my 10-year reunion this summer, and I actually got a MySpace message from some poor old classmate trying to organize it, but no dice. Seriously, my graduating class was less than 100 (it was a small class anyway, but over 20 kids failed the same English class), and we didn’t even get a yearbook. There wasn’t enough interest for a staff to even form! Pretty sad. Ah well. I still see all of the people that I like anyway.

Well, if you look up X-Entertainment on Youtube because you have absolutely nothing better to do, you may actually simulate an acid trip.

Wait a minute, is X-E really read by Warren G?
:P Cause that would be awesome.

Killer link Bill

And it really is quite strange that most of us seemed to be doing something else last night. Personally, I was seeing the band Chilliwack.

Sorry I couldn’t add to the SNT last night- I was actually asleep for once. (After I got use of the computer again.) I was up all night Friday, but it’s too bad I wasn’t trying to be.

Thank you, IHAQ, for being the latest person on the internet to mention the BSC movie. I think I’m getting the hint that I should probably dig out my tape and watch it one of these days. :)

Reminds me of Ivan Ooze.

Off-topic: Is anyone here familiar/heard of a show called “Macabre Theatre” that is currently playing on the America One Network midnights on Saturday around here? It hosted by an Elvira-type chick named Ivonna Cadaver who basically introduces old horror movies and makes jokes.
I found a compilation of clips on Youtube.

My favorite toy slime is the 25ยข vending machine kind. The classics never die out! :)

Man, glad I wasn’t the only one that missed out on the SNT. My man-bitch bogarted my computer to chat with his ex.

What are those bumps on the nose? Beads of sweat? Zits? It sort of makes it look like a flesh-colored strawberry.

By the way, congrats on being quoted, Matt! Is fame all you hoped it’d be??

My ten-year reunion is this year as well. Haven’t decided yet if I’ll go. Reunions, I’ve always thought from watching sitcoms, were created for the sole purpose of making you feel better about yourself and your life choices (i.e., look at my classmates who got knocked up early, got fat, went nowhere, flip burgers, have had 18 divorces, etc.). Unfortunately, I went to a magnet school so everyone who shows up will be doctors, lawyers, professors, and that ilk. That would do *nothing* for my self-esteem so I figure…why bother?

Plus, I figure if I haven’t talked to these people in ten years, what makes me think I’m going to want to talk to them again in ten minutes?

I kind of went to my 10 year class reunion. It was a multi-event weekend thing and one of the events was at the main bar in town. I happened to stop in there with a few friends. So I wasnt really there for the reunion.

It was like a car accident, you dont want to look, but you have to. Fortunately I was reaping the awesome benefits of one of those post-breakup weight loss things that just naturally happens. By naturally I mean you are too upset to eat, but dont mind drinking all the time…

It was just weird. All the snotty girls were married, pregnant and rubbing their bellies. Their husbands were wasted and singing karaoke. All the same little groups scattered about. I bailed after about an hour.

Chestnuts roasted by MaryJane @ 08/20/2007 3:14 PM

Man, my 10-year reunion wouldn’t be until 2011, if there is one. I think there were about 80 students in my graduating class and I never really cared for most of them. So I probably wouldn’t go, unless I get rich before then and can show it off. XD

Chestnuts roasted by Annette @ 08/20/2007 3:17 PM

I’d totally watch X-E TV. Matt – you should pitch to G4
