not sure i will make it all the way through this one without falling asleep but i am with you all in spirit

Posted by
tigerfan @ 07/14/2007 2:17 AM EDT
Oh man, the one there showing recap of is the one I thought this was.

Posted by
dohopoki @ 07/14/2007 2:17 AM EDT
I don’t think I can make it through another one. So…very…tired…

Posted by
Lori @ 07/14/2007 2:18 AM EDT
I’m going to give Part VII the old college try, even though it’s already past 2 AM.

Posted by
Matt @ 07/14/2007 2:18 AM EDT
I’ll make it for a little bit, but I have to caddie at 11:00 am. I’m not kidding.

Posted by
Bludge @ 07/14/2007 2:18 AM EDT
I already saw the last bit of this movie, so…

Posted by
Annette @ 07/14/2007 2:18 AM EDT
Am I putting the DVD back in?

Posted by
Knegative @ 07/14/2007 2:18 AM EDT
Dang, I was in the party of “Don’t move it!!”
Bad load times be damned, it was easily on its way to being the 2nd most commented blog!
Aand….movie’s over. I’m not watching the next one. I’ll still be around, though, reading all the great comments.
Oh jeez I hope I’m not going to be alone for this one.

Posted by
Matt @ 07/14/2007 2:19 AM EDT
Oh shit why did I turn on SciFi right before I need to sleep? Battlestar Galactica is on…
How the hell can SNT top THIS?

Posted by
Cameron T. @ 07/14/2007 2:19 AM EDT
I’ve got to hash tomorrow, so I’m probably out of here in another 30 mins, but I’ll stick around for the party as long as I can.

Posted by
Special K @ 07/14/2007 2:20 AM EDT
For the record Nobert, I said Jason looked like Sloth back in that thread where Manimal dropped his 789.

Posted by
Knegative @ 07/14/2007 2:20 AM EDT
Oh, what the hell. I’ll hang around until I start recognizing scenes.
Also, that exploding headstone in the little recap was kind of awesome.

Posted by
Annette @ 07/14/2007 2:20 AM EDT
I’m gonna try, Matt.

Posted by
Bludge @ 07/14/2007 2:20 AM EDT
The TV is downstairs, computer is upstairs, so I’m not watching, but I’ll hang out here with you, Matt.

Posted by
Hazzard @ 07/14/2007 2:20 AM EDT
I’ll do my best Matt. I do, however, reserve the right to recycle material from the first go-round.

Posted by
Magic Toy @ 07/14/2007 2:21 AM EDT
…Now I see what you guys were talking about earlier with the Carol Anne thing.

Posted by
Annette @ 07/14/2007 2:21 AM EDT
Carol Anne! Where are you going?!

Posted by
Special K @ 07/14/2007 2:21 AM EDT
Old college try? Matt, you better hang. This is an X-E night. Plus I’m in trouble at the home front some I need to escape…..

Posted by
Bill @ 07/14/2007 2:21 AM EDT
I’m on board. I have to justity this rental cost.

Posted by
Knegative @ 07/14/2007 2:21 AM EDT
Trivia: On the set, people joked about this movie being “Frigay the 13th,” because virtually every guy in it is gay.

Posted by
Matt @ 07/14/2007 2:21 AM EDT
is that the little girl from poltergiest?

Posted by
tigerfan @ 07/14/2007 2:22 AM EDT
It’s like Jean Grey spawned with Jennifer from Family Ties.

Posted by
Matt @ 07/14/2007 2:22 AM EDT
Is this one good Matt? I’ll try if you say the word.

Posted by
dohopoki @ 07/14/2007 2:22 AM EDT
I’m so glad I watched those - that was awesome.
It’s been a lonnnnng time since I’ve seen one, but, I have to get up in the morning for work, so I must go to bed. Night all!

Posted by
Ryane @ 07/14/2007 2:22 AM EDT
It looks like the mom might be a little of that herself. Look at that righteous mullet!

Posted by
Special K @ 07/14/2007 2:23 AM EDT
No luck finding 7 but I’ll hang out some more. holy crap anybody see the HIPPOPOTAS in pokemon yet?thing is like a baby hippo with a giant nose colored like a giraffe

Posted by
Danny J @ 07/14/2007 2:23 AM EDT
Speaking of recycled material… doesn’t Lil’ Tina remind you of Carol Anne from Poltergeist?

Posted by
Magic Toy @ 07/14/2007 2:23 AM EDT
Jason never uses the same weapon twice in this one from what it looked like earlier.

Posted by
El Loco Gordo @ 07/14/2007 2:23 AM EDT
Bernie is gay?!?!?!

Posted by
Knegative @ 07/14/2007 2:23 AM EDT
Doho: I can’t lie. Part 3 is better. But this is a good sleeper kind of movie. It’s a little more serious, and of the later sequels, it’s probably the best. Plus, it’s got the weirdest looking sans-mask Jason in any F13 movie.

Posted by
Matt @ 07/14/2007 2:23 AM EDT
oh man I love this one! That shitty Doctor totally sells the mom out!

Posted by
the Gripp @ 07/14/2007 2:24 AM EDT
I go out one time and see what I miss? I’m not going to make it up for the next one.

Posted by
Rainbowfeet @ 07/14/2007 2:24 AM EDT
That does it. I’m gonna have to watch Poltergeist tomorrow now.

Posted by
Annette @ 07/14/2007 2:24 AM EDT
Looks like the Heather O’Rourke comment was not forgotten.

Posted by
Magic Toy @ 07/14/2007 2:24 AM EDT
Oooooo…. no more Tato Skins…..

Posted by
Mystie @ 07/14/2007 2:24 AM EDT
Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t the girl who played Carol Anne die on the set of an Elm Street movie? or is that just urban legend?

Posted by
the Gripp @ 07/14/2007 2:25 AM EDT
After seeing all of the Poltergeist questions, I looked it up. Heather wasn’t in this, but she was in “Still the Beaver”, aka “The New Leave it to Beaver”. What the fuck…

Posted by
Bludge @ 07/14/2007 2:25 AM EDT
I believe she died before filming wrapped on Poltergeist 3.

Posted by
Annette @ 07/14/2007 2:25 AM EDT
This doctor has no scruples.

Posted by
Matt @ 07/14/2007 2:25 AM EDT
Man, you go out one night….I feel your pain Rainbowfeet
I’ll hang around and try ot watch for a bit, but it’ll be hard watching this - no matter how cheesy - in my grandma’s old house

Posted by
Shuanfu @ 07/14/2007 2:26 AM EDT
Doc totally plays the shit out of Tinas mom and it’s sweet.

Posted by
the Gripp @ 07/14/2007 2:27 AM EDT
She finished filming on Poltergeist 3 but the director wasn’t happy with the ending, unfortunatly she had died prior to the re-shoots and thats why you only see her from behind during the end shots.

Posted by
El Loco Gordo @ 07/14/2007 2:27 AM EDT
If you want to know great little known facts, thefleshfarm. dot com is my favorite source. I never knew Steven King carried the character Greedo in his pocket for good luck during the filming of The Creepshow.

Posted by
Bill @ 07/14/2007 2:27 AM EDT
Geez, Tina, buy some new conditioner.

Posted by
Annette @ 07/14/2007 2:27 AM EDT
Oh come on, she might be telepathic, but it’s still just a pack of matches.

Posted by
Matt @ 07/14/2007 2:27 AM EDT
Speaking of Poltergeist…
Around four or five years ago I screened Poltergeist and The Shining for my lady.
She wasn’t scared by either of them. Not even a little bit.
Damn.
Maybe she should’ve watched them when she was eight like I did.
Let’s see how mentally tough you are then!

Posted by
Magic Toy @ 07/14/2007 2:27 AM EDT
Okay, this is fitting. I’m behind this time, instead of ahead.

Posted by
Knegative @ 07/14/2007 2:28 AM EDT
eh. I’ll stick it for a while. I am disappointed in the fact that I thought VII was what VI was. If this was VI, I’d have no problem.

Posted by
dohpoki @ 07/14/2007 2:28 AM EDT
Annette could not be more correct.
Sadly.

Posted by
Magic Toy @ 07/14/2007 2:29 AM EDT
Poltergeist is the perfect movie to scare the shit out of little kids.
Also, why the hell do I keep linking to my Livejournal when all my entries are friends-only? I should stop that.

Posted by
Annette @ 07/14/2007 2:29 AM EDT
Heather O’Rourke died of “cardiopulmonary arrest and intestinal stenosis” when she was 12 years old. Wow, how sad is that?! She was such a cute little kid.

Posted by
Special K @ 07/14/2007 2:29 AM EDT
Magic Toe/y, try The Exorcist. After that, I got nothing.

Posted by
Bludge @ 07/14/2007 2:29 AM EDT
I havent seen any Poltergeist flick since I was about 8 or 9, but I like to think that they would instill just as much batshit terror in me now as they did back then.

Posted by
the Gripp @ 07/14/2007 2:30 AM EDT
This “15 seconds” thing is completely random…
Magic Toe/y, I watched Poltergeist at 5 am after about 36 hours with no sleep. It scared the hell out of me.

Posted by
Hazzard @ 07/14/2007 2:30 AM EDT
That mom’s eyebrows may just be the scariest thing in this movie.

Posted by
Lori @ 07/14/2007 2:31 AM EDT
I wish I could punctuate all of my negative energy by breaking family photos telepathically.

Posted by
Matt @ 07/14/2007 2:32 AM EDT
Off topic all together, but has anyone tried the Slurpee ice pops from 7/11? I’m not sure if I didn’t let them freeze long enough but they had the consistency of frozen Jell-O, kinda made me ill.

Posted by
El Loco Gordo @ 07/14/2007 2:32 AM EDT
The mom’s hair is quite frightening as well…

Posted by
Annette @ 07/14/2007 2:32 AM EDT
The Exorcist isn’t very scary. It’s more funny than anything.
YOUR MOTHER SUCKS COCKS IN HELL.
The Colonel got me on a roll with that once and I said it like everytime I got pissed in a week span, which, as usual, was a lot.

Posted by
Knegative @ 07/14/2007 2:33 AM EDT
There is not one thing redeemable about Tina’s mother. She’s just awful.

Posted by
Matt @ 07/14/2007 2:33 AM EDT
El Loco Gordo-
Yes, and they weren’t that good.

Posted by
Rainbowfeet @ 07/14/2007 2:33 AM EDT
I’m just joining in. I spent the evening on Bravo watching Creepshow, and now that I’m totally freaked out, I may as well ruin my sleep with a little Jason.

If it helps I can give you some fake play-by-play from part VI.
TOMMY JARVIS
C’mon you friggin’ loser, get outta that truck and help me dig up Jason!
ARNOLD HORSHACK
Ooooh, oooooh, Toooooommmy. If we stick him with the pole, and it gets stuck by lighting, won’t we all be in trrroooouuuubbblllleee?
Meanwhile Megan just stands there (in a later scene) just looking very hot, for 1987.
Hey, I had to mention Megan.

Posted by
Magic Toy @ 07/14/2007 2:33 AM EDT
So she wills Jason back to life while trying to will her dad back to life? uh, okay….

Posted by
Shuanfu @ 07/14/2007 2:33 AM EDT
Shelby, you’re lucky you didn’t get here an hour ago. We’d all be calling you Shelly.

Posted by
Matt @ 07/14/2007 2:34 AM EDT
I love the Creepshow graphic novel. My favorite is the one with the meteorite and the Mossman rip-off.

Posted by
Knegative @ 07/14/2007 2:34 AM EDT
I’ve never even seen The Exorcist. Well, I saw like fifteen minutes of it on TV a long time ago, but who wants to watch it on TV?

Posted by
Annette @ 07/14/2007 2:34 AM EDT
Oh my God, that Aliens spoof took things too far.

Posted by
Matt @ 07/14/2007 2:35 AM EDT
ooooooooooooooo….Shuan of the Dead is on Comedy Central if anyone wants….f13…re…lief…nevermind. Matt, I’m sorry.

Posted by
Bill @ 07/14/2007 2:35 AM EDT
I have Poltergeist on DVD but I’m pretty sure I’ll never ever ever ever watch it because I hear there’s a clown in it.

Posted by
Mystie @ 07/14/2007 2:35 AM EDT
Dammit K-! Why did you have to destroy something I hold dear?!

Posted by
Bludge @ 07/14/2007 2:35 AM EDT
I know Matt, I got pissed about that commercial on the other thread.

Posted by
Annette @ 07/14/2007 2:35 AM EDT
Well, I sure dodged a bullet there, didn’t I?

Posted by
Shelby @ 07/14/2007 2:35 AM EDT
That’s what I do, Bludge. It is my gift, it is my curse.

Posted by
Knegative @ 07/14/2007 2:36 AM EDT
The TV version of The Exorcist blows. They trim the best line — “your cunting daughter!” That’s the scariest thing in the movie, too.
As for Part VII, it’s really sucked so far.
But, almost on cue, Jason arrives and does his stuff.

Posted by
Matt @ 07/14/2007 2:36 AM EDT
No luck finding 7 but I’ll hang out some more. holy crap anybody see the HIPPOPOTAS in pokemon yet?thing is like a baby hippo with a giant nose colored like a giraffe
Wait until you see its evolution, Hippodown. It’s even bigger. Body AND nose.
and dang, over 60 comments already. I should go to bed now, and I fear that there’s gonna be another 300 comments by the time I get up tomorrow…
I remember when The Wizard premiered in theatres, I was so excited to see it that I couldnt sleep the night before. I wound up staying awake all night watching a Tales from the Crypt marathon and drinking Sunny Delights that I mixed with an equal proportion of sugar. The next day, on the way to the theatre, I projectile vomited all over the windshield and my dad almost drove off the road. Never got to see the Wizard in theatres, it was sold out when we finally got there. Had to see the Little Mermaid instead. Just felt like sharing.

I actually went to a Crystal Lake in FL once, had a hard time sleeping after we talked about Jason..stupid fears

Here’s my theory of 15 Seconds: It’s from all of us simulposting and Wordpress is just showing the screen so some posts could get through and not crash it.
And I’m still laughing over the “Shitpiece” reference from Part 1 whenever I see Magic Toy’s new name…I forgot if Blurr got renamed.
Tina’s mother looks like Colonel Guile if you slant your eyes just right.

Is the Kup/Shitpiece line from the Rude Awakening of Optimus Prime? Sorry to be off topic.

No, I didn’t. But I would like to thank that scene for giving me some interesting ideas as a nine-year-old boy.
Just curious, did anyone else here, as a child, read the novelizations to these movies? I can’t even imagine how much trouble a fourth grader would get into today if they brought a copy of Aliens, Friday the 13th part VI or a copy of Fangoria to school.

Yes, I turned AMC back on. But I won’t be on for much longer, sadly.
GRAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHh
I always tell people I don’t pay for cable because I can download torrents of stuf or watch YouTube… then there come a huge cultural exercise like this and I miss out because I’m cheap!
The worst part is that I totally SHOULD have these movies on DVD… DAMMIT

and even more off topic the road to Snowpoint is a bitch

Posted by
Danny J @ 07/14/2007 2:47 AM EDT
Since it did rename me… can someone give me the origin to the “shitpiece” reference that was made?
I may already know it, but after XX number of beers, it isn’t ringing a bell. I would be grateful.

Posted by
Magic Toy @ 07/14/2007 2:47 AM EDT
Since I’m not watching the movie I can at least play along with the comments… I was always impressed with how well that guy mimicked Peter Cullen’s Optimus voice - at first I wasn’t sure if it was a fan parody or not.

Posted by
Shawn @ 07/14/2007 2:48 AM EDT
Yeah, I’ve been wondering about the “Shitpiece” thing myself.

Posted by
Annette @ 07/14/2007 2:48 AM EDT
no Toy, but I did read the F13 offshoot novels. They were about random people who would find Jason’s mask and put it on for various reasons. The mask would then turn them into Jason incarnate and he’d go on a rampage. Pretty tight for 5th grade summer reading.

Posted by
the Gripp @ 07/14/2007 2:48 AM EDT
On a completely off topic note, I’m afraid the new movie has jacked up prices on old transformers. I just want Hot Rod. He wasn’t even in the movie, for god’s sake!

Matt, I don’t want to sound old and grumpy and get too off topic, but haven’t you noticed how a lot of things are losing a sense of tradition? We’ve seemed to have entered a time of “hurry up and wait” and don’t take the time to enjoy the simpler things in between.

I felt that it was full of excess but I do not hold the TF themselves personably responsible and I also do not subscribe to the “hey, it’s a summer blockbusta, you have to check your mind at the door.”

Well, I freakin’ loved Dead Rising. The save system is a pain in the ass. Many think it really detracts from the game. I guess I can only say that if you grew up watching Dawn of the Dead then you MUST play it. If you have questions then of course you should rent it first. Or download the free demo from Xbox Live, if you sign up to it. I loves me some free demos!

ZOMBIES IN A MALL…with psychos that arent zombies but will kill you with guns chainsaws and shopping carts filled with sharp things
like 5 or 6 endings. most things are weapons and there are lots of Capcom jokes thrown in.
Bad points rescuing survivors which can be annoying.
Story is pretty good though

Ok cool. They pretty much had me at Zombies in a mall, and I did grow up watching the romero zombie flicks. I was just worried that the game didnt deliver on it’s pre-release claims of “1000 zombies on screen” and “Almost everythings a weapon” Crap like saving doesnt bother me much. What I really cant wait for are Mass Effect and Asassin’s Creed. Oh, and the marvel mmorpg, but thats years off.

I should go upstairs and wake up the lady for a middle of the night kiss. She’d love the taste of all the garbage I have put into my mouth over the past five hours.
Either that or she’d smack me in the face and make me sleep on the futon in the spare bedroom.
Could go either way.

I remember when wordpress was brand new and only me and Darth Poop would get the Cowboy message.

It’s allready 4:00 am. I have to be somewhere at 2:00 pm. If I go to bed now I’ll sleep through my pony appointment. I’m not going to bed tonight. Who’s with me?

Already said I was staying up, Hazzard.
Oh and they’re Squishees. Me and Squee are just tired.

To be honest, I’ll probably be up for a while.

We need a topic. Not a survey either, something that can be actually discussed.

Why don’t we name some of our old lunchboxes? I’ll go first: when I was four, I had one based on the Rocketeer. I had it until just a few years ago under my brother’s bed. I think it’s thrown out now.

I’ll probably be semi-lurking for a bit longer…too bad the I’m too brain dead to think of a discussion

Drunk people: not as good at Simpson’s impressions as they think.
Heh, at least I got the “ee” part right.

that’s kind of a survey but I had a jurassic park one with a clever thermast. I don’t remember why it was clever, just that it was.

dohopoki @ 07/14/2007 4:15 AM EDT
Like I said, I had a Transformers one. It was red and had the same pic that was on the sides of the accessory cases that they sold. I had this really cool Batman Returns one. It was heavy plastic and had plastic containers in it, in addition to the thermos. It had a strap too. Totally badass.

I had a couple of those plastic ones with the matching thermos like everybody else cannot remember who was on any of them for the life of me. I must have been around 4. Shortly after that they broke one by one and mom got too cheap to keep replacing them so it was paper bags from then on

I had one from Toys R Us. It was really blocky and huge. I had a CareBears one that I’m sure now was for a girl. Guess we know now that I started liking girl stuff reeeeally early.

I’m going to cook some really over processed chicken that has cheese in it already.

In our house lunchboxes were gradually phased out in favor of those plastic lunch bags. Or sometimes the paper bags. But nothing ever kept very well in those things. By high school I either bought lunch or just brought a soda and some chees-its or something in a bag, tucked into a side zipper in my backpack. That seemed to work better than anything else.

OMG I’m almost in. No clue what I’m buying.
I had a Monkees lunchbox that was near and dear in middle school.

I thought I was done with lunchboxes in the 5th grade. Then I saw someone with that Batman lunchbox on the first day, and I had to have it. There were no negative repurcussions over it. It really was a marvel of lunch storage technology.

YOu know they didn’t play their own instruments.

I know I had a He-Man and Transformers lunch box. I’m sure there were a couple more. Hmmm.

I have 3 lunchboxes that are worth speaking of here. All tin.
1. One with chihuahuas on it that says “welcome to the chihuahua zone”. I got it in 5th grade and continued to use it through 12th grade. It is small and beaten up but It reminds me of good times.
2. The Ramones. I like this one better than the chihuahua one, so I use it less. It did get used some in middle school, though, so it’s probably lost all collector’s value.
3. A Popples lunchbox I found at the local junk shop. It has someone else’s name written on it in red sharpie. I’ve only used it once, to carry snacks for a long bus ride.

kinda off topic but i just remembered my old spider man backpack. It was real shitty plastic and had a huge spidey face on the back. I remember walking home and all of my books falling down out the back. I made like 3 sobbing trips from there to my house trying to pretend nothing happened…shitty plastic backpacks.
Which also reminds me of the ghostbuster’s costume my dad made out of a backpack some duct tape and cardboard. I rocked that thing up and down the block.

Damn. I guess I can no longer win, but I can offer moral support to the remaining contestants.

my ghostbuster’s outfit was made out of ghostbuster’s toy equipment.

that’s cool man I really wanted some for my costume but they were all sold out…saving things for the last minute=story of my life

Oh, mine wasn’t just a halloween outfit. I got the stuff for that previous christmas and just chose to wear it all the time from then on, even when I wasn’t playing ghostbusters.

Oh now backpacks, that is a great topic.
I had this blue one throughout elementary school. Just so beloved to me. I still have it somewhere. I’ll kill somebody if my mom threw it out. I had a Green Jansport in Middle School. I took off Jansport and sewed an Exxon patch in its place. Hence my first screenname, Exxonman. In HighSchool I used this one I bought at the college I’ve attended for 8 years now. I sewed an Adeline records patch over the college logo. In college, I got a messanger bag. I took off the strap and replaced it with a green Ernie Ball guitar strap. Then I put a Blink patch, and a Sgt. Peppers patch on it. Finally, I took my Black Parade tshirt and cut out the logo. I stapled that onto it.
I’m still using that bag today.

infact, suppressed memory: I wore that stuff to a family gathering. I remember it now as one of the pivitol moments where I decided I hate my mom’s side. They don’t care if youre small, they tease everyone beyond the acceptable point.

Backpacks are a bitter subject for me. I had a great backpack that I got in, oh, 4th grade maybe? It was the only one I’d ever had that held up to the kind of wear and tear I put on backpacks. It would probably still be with me if some jackass in 9th grade hadn’t decided to slice it up with scissors. God I hated that school.
