My dying wish is for an owl/camel hybrid, which I call camowl.

Summer Megaparty: Randomness.

I picked up Pokemon Battle Revolution for the Wii, and so far, I'm convinced that this is something I shouldn't have done. For one thing, it's nearly pointless to own if you don't have Pearl or Diamond for the DS, and I don't, so my Pokemon are all shitty rentals with nary a Bulba in sight. I was into the simplistic (okay, brainless) fun of Pokemon Stadium for the N64, but after two whole console generations, they could've added a little more to the pot.

Then again, I'm making a lot of blanket assumptions after only a relatively short time playing. You can go online in the game to battle random people or your friends, but my Wii has always been plagued with terrible connection issues, and I haven't been able to log on. Internet searches tell me that my problem isn't unique, and that many are having the same problem with Pokemon Battle Revolution. Without a DS game to fill my Pokeranks with, and without the ability to battle some eleven-year-old from Michigan, I'm left unfulfilled and I totally wish I used that 50 bucks on this fucking gorgeous shovelnose shark they have at the Petland up the block.

On the other hand, the game gives me a clear excuse to go buy Diamond or Pearl, which is pretty brilliant, and I don't even mind, because those games are good enough to fill a void that I'm currently trying to fill with tabletop novelty palm trees.

I went to some junky outlet store last week -- the kind of place that sells everything from generic cocktail peanuts to big framed paintings of rose bushes to hot pink indoor fans. Picked up a few critical items while there, not the least of which is seen above: My very own faux palm tree. It lights up! Only cost five bucks, too. While this one stands at a tabletop-scale fifteen inches, they also had a six foot version...but I couldn't bring myself to fork over fifty bucks for a bunch of well-assembled pipe cleaners and Christmas lights. In retrospect, I'd love to trade the stupid Pokemon game in for that. I'd be like the suburban version of Don the Beachcomber. Matt the Beachcomber?

Yesterday afternoon, I heard a little ruckus coming from outside, looked out my window and saw...that. An old man pushing his grandson down the sidewalk using an American flag on a pole. The kid was sitting in some kind broken tricycle, and the other mystery item appeared to be a weedwhacker. Ever get the sense that God was fucking with you? I still have no idea what was going on with this. They lurked around for about five minutes singing patriotic songs, eventually escaping through the very same dimensional porthole from which they arrived. No, they're not neighbors -- I've never seen these people before in my life. I guess, when you're aiming to push your grandson around using a weedwhacker and a flag pole, you probably want to do it in a neighborhood where the people don't know you.

SNT Survey: The mafia wants your ass, so you've gotta hide out in a shady hotel on the wrong side of the tracks for the next two nights. You've got a backpack. What's inside? This should cover your food, drink, entertainment and protection.

I am extremely girly, iAMYou. Ask anyone here. I’ll tell you guys a little secret, I’m doing this so I won’t buy Transformers. I’ve heard that it’s okay if you can live with the camera, and I’m pretty good with the one in the Wii version now, so I’m dangerously close to going for it. But in the back of my mind I know better.

Wildwood Days is still going unappreciated. It is just the shit. It’s my new “jam.” Also digging the Power of Love. Huey Lewis rules all and I just finished watching the BttF trilogy, so yeah. Long live the Jukebox.

Shaun should be around soon to recommend Elite Beat Agents :P

Actucally, I think I’m gonna change my stuff, (if I can)
Food: Shin Bowls, (tried them a couple of days ago, they were hella good) Sushi, tons of it, (I’ll keep it cool in the mini-fridge)
Drink: Energy Drink, like Red Bull or Monster to keep me awake, Snapple
Entertainment: A laptop that had wireless so that I could go on X-E
Protection: Battery Acid that I’d use to booby trap all the entrences, A 9mm with hollow-point rounds, Kevlar bullet-proof vest, Smoke Gernades, Thermal Goggles, and the Red Button. If I press it, then the room goes BOOM!
J-pop and Aspirin make you see shit.

It’s true, if Knegs was any girlier we’d be painting each other’s nails and watching bad Lifetime specials about women that don’t want to leave their abusive husbands.

I’d have to agree with the New Super Mario Bros comments. Also, omg, Harvest Moon DS. I got so addicted to that game and I still have no idea why. You basically milk cows, chop wood, and grow crops over and over and over again.

is that your car in the crazy man photo Matt?

First of all: KNeg: we may have had this conversation before, but get Elite Beat Agents. Reasons why? 1) It meets your criteria: it is a game made just for the DS, it gives a purpose to both screens, and is not Poke or FF related ;) and 2) you enjoy music. Now, ignore the fact that a lot of the bands you may not like -I didn’t either until I played the game and a song I never liked before became instantly relatable to EBA…

Trust me: this is the games that got me back into the DS after not touching it for nearly six months.

Second of all: I want to do the backpack thing, but it’s late -or early, depending on how you look at it- so I’ll think about it during chores tomorrow…

And finally: Man what an awesome day I had! Georgia Aquarium, International Food Market, and Dave & Buster’s.

And Matt I saw an old friend of yours while at the aquarium:
http://img516.imageshack.us/img516/7730/dcp1817wj1.jpg
The second I saw the display I thought “gotta check it out” and man do I see the appeal now :P

I’ve got tons more pics and even a few videos -even of Matt’s favorite- that I hope to post in my blog as soon as I have time and can get the videos to load…

I love it when days turn out to be more awesome than you thought they would!

Man, I will never get tired of the Pina Colada song. And Hotel California, and The Tide is High…good times. Happy SNT if anyone’s still up :D

Kneg, I think I actually would bring my PSP. As for the rest:

Food – Bread, jelly, peanut butter, bananas and other fruits, and a bag of Chex Mix.

Drink – Bottled water, Starbucks bottled Mocha Frappuccino.

Entertainment – The PSP, plus Work Time Fun and Dynasty Warriors. The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy Trilogy, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows if I can get an advance copy. If not, I’ll settle for Prisoner of Azkaban. Plus my iPod loaded with eps of LOST (Confidence Man, All the Best Cowboys Have Daddy Issues, What Kate Did, Greatest Hits) and MST3K (Jack Frost, Overdrawn at the Memory Bank, Hobgoblins). And a pack of Newports, because I’m with mary, if the mob was after me I’d definitely start smoking again.

Protection – Bear mace.

Matt, that picture reminds me of something from of the The Outer Limits, for some reason.

And wait..K-? When’d you change your name? I’m seeing “Knegative” talking about Final Fantasy thinking “K- must like this guy..whaa?” Of course, there’s probably some post explaining this, or its someone else, or its just nothing. And I could look it up, and spare looking like a jackass..but na :P
-In any case it shows how much I really wanna be back on here regularly again. But I’m stuck making projects about “peptic ulcers” and “bile salts”. It really sucks graduating from high school, only to find yourself taking up Biology five days later in summer school.

Anyways, for the topic at hand: Food-probably a big sandwich or two, like those ones at Safeway, if anybody knows what I’m talking about. Drink-hmm, Clearly Canadian, or Ramune Marble Drink. The proper kind, not the Chinese bootleg, where the marble gets stuck and the lid breaks. Entertainment-my GBA with Super Mario Bros. 3, maybe The Art of War. and Protection-a hammer. Oh yeah.

Starwenn this is a story I read yesterday on another blog uh, enjoy!

Wayne Cashman, a Canadian hockey star back in 1972, when the whole country came to a standstill to watch the Canada-Russia hockey series. This was the first competition to pit our best (regardless of amateur status) against Russia’s best in order to settle, once and for all, which country was king on the ice.

So what happened to Wayne Cashman? Oh, nothing terribly special. One of his opponents just saw an opportunity that I guess he couldn’t resist, inserted the butt end of his hockey stick right into Cashy’s mouth, and with a deft and quick skewering maneuver, literally sliced his tongue in half.

also, heeree yeah that sounds like something you feel like your in the twilight zone. I saw a female clown walking around walmart, she went in specifically for a stack of glossy printer photo paper for someone who couldn’t go to the store themselves. They were with someone in a normal outfit. I kept staring and staring I thought the person was going to say “what are you LOOKING at??” but they continued with their conversation. I wish my best friend saw that. I really do. I think he was in the car.

and Mystie you can’t paint my nails pink but I love lifetime made for tv movies! You can teach me how to french braid maybe, and I can do your hair, and I can do your toenails and fingernails up real good. Give each other mud masks. I think too much. We could get a copy of the Amy Fisher story that stars alyssa milano, tanya harding story, and one I remember called I know my name is Steven, that’s a good one. You can actually buy those lifetime movie dvd’s now.

Chestnuts roasted by Goob @ 07/08/2007 4:31 AM

food: 6 roast beef po boys from some backwater cajun shack restaurant and auju to get em wet with.
drink: 5 bottles of bacardi rum, mint, lime, ice, mortel and pestle and a glass.
entertainment: Transformers Movie 20th anniversary edition converted onto the ipod
protection: Tac-Ops Tango-51 and ammo and i’d lay in the back of the room eating my po boys waiting for them to come.

and while i was waiting, i’d have target practice shooting the guys’ shoelaces as he paraded outside my house singing patriotic songs and misusing the flag like that.

Matt(and fans of the advent calender) If you havn’t played paper mario on the wii you should give it a try. The dialog feels alot like Matt’s advent calender epics.

I always thought Drew Barrymore’s turn as Amy Fisher had to be the best, though it wasn’t a Lifetime movie.
I’ve been trying to figure out that crazy grandpa for hours now. I think anon is on to something with the toothache headgear, but it’s still a big helping of WTF.

My backpack’d contain:
A teleporter. ‘Nuff said.

Knegative:o As I was reading your post about “sell me a game” I was thinking Trace Memory, then you mentioned it! So, I think that’s good enough reason to go out and get that one. I started it, it has a LOT of dialogue, and I haven’t got very far, but it looks promising! And, you might wanna go to your local TRU and see if they have it, because I got it at the one I work at for only 9.98 on clearance. ;)

In my backpack:
Food: A couple of pounds of trail mix, a couple of PB&J sandwiches
Entertainment: Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows (book 7 to the uninitiated) and my iPod, with the volume turned low, as well as a charger

Drinks: I’d carry up a case of Jolt Cola 20-ounce cans

Protection: I’d be hiding in the bathroom, with the pillows laid out under the covers on the bed to simulate a sleeping person, then when the Mafia hit guys busted in and shot up the bed, I’d take them out with a tranquilizer dart gun. (OK, I’d research it first to make sure it would take effect immediately)

Sorry about the double-post, but it *has* been 30 minutes since my last post ;-) .

Matt, I was a little surprised at your including “Margaritaville” on the jukebox, as I seem to recall you expressing a lack of enjoyment of Jimmy Buffett’s music. If that wasn’t you, I apologize. Personally, I enjoy his music, although I’m not as big a Parrothead as my two brothers; before they had kids, they went to all of his area appearances each summer.

Chestnuts roasted by Old Jim @ 07/08/2007 12:50 PM

I hope I didn’t say that. If I did, I take it back! I even have the Christmas album.

Ohoho, Tutsuro. It wasn’t even a couple weeks ago that people wondered if K- was Knegative from “back in the day.” Here’s the breakdown:

Fall2004-Summer06: Knegative
Summer06-Last Week: K-
Last Week-hopefully 4evah: Knegative

Shortly after Graymatter got abolished I stopped being able to post with my full name. Last week(ish), Matt fixed a Spam setting for kb and well this is an additional result of it.

So yes, basically whenever you see a poster with a name prominantly featuring the letter ‘K’ and spouting the word ‘emo,’ that’s me.

Chestnuts roasted by Knegative @ 07/08/2007 1:29 PM

Hmm… I’d have 8 cans of Mt. Dew, three books (or the new Harry Potter book and one other book just in case), those veggie chip/cracker things, some oats and honey granola bars, (I’m assuming the room has a microwave) a couple of cans of beef and veggie soup, a thing of Ritz crackers, and a bowl and spoon. Oh and my own little pillow.

Chestnuts roasted by Ladytink_534 @ 07/08/2007 1:31 PM

Yeah, the spam this blog gets is ridiculous. But, unlike with Greymatter, at least it’s all going into a mod queue instead of becoming physically attached to the posts. Most people probably never saw it, but a lot of the older blog posts had 500 or more spams attached to the comments — big, nasty ones.

The easy workaround is setting up one of those “letter verification” things, where you have to enter a random code whenever you make a comment. But, I kind of feel like that would hamper the fun of threads.

Ultimately, I have the capabilities of allowing people to register, which means you’ll always be logged in with your name, and that should allow regular posters to avoid getting spam queued. That’s just one of a number of little fixes I hope to do soon.

Chestnuts roasted by Matt @ 07/08/2007 1:34 PM

I just thought, how are you going to assure someone doesn’t quickly register all of our names?

Chestnuts roasted by dohopoki @ 07/08/2007 1:41 PM

Doubt that would happen, but could just have everyone e-mail me to set up their accounts privately. :)

Chestnuts roasted by Matt @ 07/08/2007 1:43 PM

All you DS owners really need to get an M3 DS Simply. Google it. I currently have 26 games on a 1GB micro SD card right in my DS slot 1! It works great! Also, click my name on my last post for a good guide (I’m too lazy to find the URL again). Never buy a DS game again! Unless you have stronger morals than me…

Chestnuts roasted by Timbo @ 07/08/2007 1:51 PM

Entertainment: PSP (ducks) with a few games and memory sticked movies, PS1 emulator
Food/Drink: The local pizza place’s number, 2-liters of Crystal Pepsi
Protection: Model 29 Smith and Wesson .357 magnum
