07/02/2007: Summer Megaparty: X-E Goes To The Kwik-E-Mart!

I made a promise that X-E's Summer Megaparty would include new blog content everyday from 6/20 through 8/1…

…but I think I can get off on a technicality if I write a new article.  It's been a wild day.  I'm at home slumped in my chair, and one phone call later, I'm crashing into eighty cars as I zip to New York City for the privilege to go inside a real, live Kwik-E-Mart.  Click here for the huge report!

Yes, promoting The Simpsons Movie, eleven 7-Eleven stores (get it?) from all over the country have turned themselves in Kwik-E-Marts, each with real, live Kwik-E-Mart foodstuffs and enough Simpsons crap to make anyone who still can't hear "Rock Me Amadeus" without thinking of Dr. Zaius happy.

The article is a photo journey through the store, but I had a bunch of pics leftover.  Check 'em out, after the jump.  Jump jump.

That's just the tip of the iceberg…make sure you check out the full review!

We have a Springfield in Kentucky, but it's highly doubtful we'll get a special Kwik-E-Mart. *sigh*

I'm jealous, Matt — very jealous.

But, did they have Duff beer?

Awesome pictures Matt. Too bad I live about 100 miles from the nearest 7/11. Small quiet towns suck sometimes.

Let me know when they remake them into Quick Stops for Clerks III. THEN, I'll be excited.

Posted by Knegative @ 07/02/2007 9:13 PM EDT

I've been hearing about this promotion for a while, but I still can't believe my eyes. This has got to be the most perfect movie/television/animated-franchise tie in ever. The effort that must've gone into this to achieve such level of detail is amazing to consider.
I may actually be more exited over the prospect of owning and tasting my own REAL Buzz Cola and Krusty-Os than I am about a Simpson feature film in the year 2007.

Great article, Matt. It's fun to see you writing about character themed food items again. Now where are those Kool-Aid articles!

Isn't this new blog content?

Posted by dohopoki @ 07/02/2007 9:26 PM EDT

Okay, two quick things:
1. I live in the San Fernando Valley and work in Glendale (props to those up on their SoCal geography). There is a KWik-E-Mart in Burbank, which is between mt workplace and my home. Now I know I must go there, if I can find exactly where it is.
2. My understanding regarding Duff Beer is that they chose NOT to market it because the Simpsons Movie is rated PG-13, so a whole lot of underage people are going to be seeing it. At least that's what the news said.

Posted by Thomas @ 07/02/2007 9:26 PM EDT

As magical as this all is, I'll still be more excited if the new Futurama DVDs ever come out.

Posted by Jedoc @ 07/02/2007 9:27 PM EDT

Just finished the article.  I gotta find one near me.  I wonder if the employees would "sell" one of the Simpsons figures if you slipped them enough money.  Hmmm.

Posted by Doug @ 07/02/2007 9:28 PM EDT

Oh… There is going to be one in Pittsburgh.
Who would have thought?

Posted by Somethin' Funny @ 07/02/2007 9:32 PM EDT

My mistake. It's just a ripoff named one.

Posted by Somethin' Funny @ 07/02/2007 9:34 PM EDT

Doug,

I'm sure they'll give it to you after the movie comes out for free (unless on of the employees has dibs). That's how I got my Men in Black standee.

Posted by Cotter @ 07/02/2007 9:39 PM EDT

It's worth a try.  I have to find one first.  :-)

Matt, thank you for explaining what the big deal was about the pink-frosted donuts in the 7-11 on the White Horse Pike. No, our 7-11 didn't go Kwik-E-Mart; didn't even have Squishees. It does really have random foreign cashiers, though. And Matt, if you truly need pink-frosted donuts, they had plenty at the 7-11 as of yesterday.

Posted by starwenn @ 07/02/2007 9:43 PM EDT

I knew you'd have to cover this!! I'm totally going to hit up the Burbank location (I posted all 11 cities in the last thread if anyone's looking). I don't think the movie can flop, even if it sucks, since there are so many people who'll have to see it just because. Then again, it's on for free everyday, so you never know.
Big ups back atcha, Thomas. I think we're some of the only SoCal peeps around here, but I'd be happy to be wrong :)

Posted by squee4242 @ 07/02/2007 9:51 PM EDT

I am so jealous of all of you!  It's one thing to be one of the 7-11 markets that didn't get a Kwik-E-Mart, but here in Louisiana (as far as I know) there are NO 7-11's.  Ours are nothing but EZ Serves and random gas stations.  So I never got to see the Darth Dew or Spiderman Slurpees, etc.

Yeah, I'd give anything to walk in and buy an actual Squishee.

"Please come again!"

Did a plastic cutout of Snake try to rob the place too?

Posted by phunqsauce @ 07/02/2007 10:07 PM EDT

I am close to one in Chicago, but it's too far in the ghetto for me. I don't need the Apu-like bullet wounds. Does anyone know how long they'll stay Kwik-E-Marts?

Posted by Maticdog @ 07/02/2007 10:10 PM EDT

wow i mean the 7-11 near my house has been selling buzz cola, squishey cups, and krusty-os for a week now but nothing so crazy as a whole kwik-e-mart,i feel cheated

Posted by bumpinthenight @ 07/02/2007 10:22 PM EDT

The Simpsons fan in me, who has been watching since the original airing of the first episode, absolutely loves this and everything else that's starting up with the movie.  I wish I had a Kwik-E-Mart (or any 7-11, really) nearby.

Posted by Andy @ 07/02/2007 10:29 PM EDT

Bummer.  The closest one to me is in LA.  :-(   That's five hours from where I'm at.  Nice, but not a five hour drive nice.

I have very few times sat down and watched Simpons.  Not that I don't like it, I just don't watch it.  But this is really cool.  I would be there if there were a 7-11 nearby, which there is not.  I would like a pink donut.  I would like any sort of donut for that matter.

The Simpsons is several years old.

Posted by My Name @ 07/02/2007 11:45 PM EDT

This is the theme of the day; I have already gotten 2 emails about these (one from my friend in Vegas) and the closest one to me is in Orlando. (Squee already posted it but if you want to click my name for all of the locations, feel free) Worse yet, there are no regular 7-11s around here.
AND EVEN WORSE, we are broke. Mrs. Manimal is staying home next year and the time for saving money has begun. BUT IT'S THE BIGGEST SIMPSONS MEDIA BLITZ SINCE 1990! "An entire world at war and I'm left out of it?! God will not permit this to happen. I will be allowed to fufill my destiny."
(Can you tell I am little keyed up about this?) ARRRGGGGGGGG

Posted by The Manimal IS A HUGE SIMPSONS FAN! @ 07/02/2007 11:46 PM EDT

I just got back from seeing Transformers, which was like a 2 hour long rapid fire orgasm, so I desperately need a cold shower.

That's how I'd review it. It was awesome. And, like some said, go in just thinking it's a movie where machines turn into other machines and blow crap up, and you will not be dissappointed. There is some semblance of a story, but the transformers action is what the geeks came for. Peter Cullen = Still Godly. The movie had a good combo of action, humor, and cheesiness (it's a Micheal Bay film!), and it definately harkens back to the good old days of Transformersdom.

There was even some guy who came in an Optimus Prime costume. People laughed, and then cheered for him.

Back on topic…I love how Jasper is in the freezer, and there is a small error.

The "bunly goodness" line actually comes from Lunchlady Doris from the "Lisa The Vegetarian" episode.

Posted by Invader Norbert @ 07/02/2007 11:48 PM EDT

I know the 7-11's aren't making and selling Duff (and why), but I wonder if they at least acknowledge it in the stores.  Like having a Duff Man standee in the liquor section or a sign that says "Sorry, all out of Duff!"

Posted by Jeremy Whatsisface @ 07/02/2007 11:57 PM EDT

Like many others, to bad I don't have a 7-11 anywhere near me….

And since people are talking Transformers, I'll have to avoid the site until I see it tomorrow afternoon.  Luv you guys, but I don't want any pre-conceived thoughts, positive or negative….see you tomorrow night! ;)

Posted by Shuanfu @ 07/02/2007 11:59 PM EDT

I also thought Duff was a good idea, but I read that the movie is rated PG and they didn't think selling Duff beer would be a good image for the movie but PAH! i woulda enjoyed a summer of drinking Duff beer and going in to see the movie TANKED off it…perhaps after stopping by a Kwik e Mart for some Buzz Cola a donut and a hot dog? that would be a life experience close to climing Everest for the average American

I've got my ticket for TF. Tomorrow at 10:40pm. Can't wait.

The video game (at least on the Wii) is worse than a buffalo taking a diarrhea dump in your ear (Angry Video Game Nerd reference). It looks okay and plays okay, if only the camera would decide to allow us to see it without us having to reset it every other second. I'm not kidding people.

I'm not even sure I can hold out for a Jazz level. Is there a Jazz level?

Posted by Knegative @ 07/03/2007 1:12 AM EDT

Knibblez My brother actually has a can of the real Duff beer. It doesn’t look anything like it did on the show though…

Posted by Darth Poop @ 07/03/2007 1:19 AM EDT

This is the best movie tie-in ever. Even if The Simpsons Movie does not set the world on fire, I will watch the film as many times as I can as a thank you to the good people who decided to create real life Kwik-E-Marts. Also, I will pay top dollar for those standups. That's right — upwards of twelve dollars and 50 cents.

Posted by Dr. Acula @ 07/03/2007 1:21 AM EDT

So I lied :)

KNeg there is a Jazz level, and it's not to far into the Autobot storyline either.  I completely agree with you about the camera but, not saying I think the game is great, I got used to it.  The entire time I played I thought "who played this and thought this was okay?".  But I stopped playing in case it gives to much of the movie, plus I've been really busy during the day lately….

Still wish we had a 7-11 somewhere around here :(

Posted by Shuanfu @ 07/03/2007 1:29 AM EDT

I had the same notion, Shaun and I've decided not to play again until after I see it. I've got it until Saturday. Plenty of time to experience the Jazz level.

Every game I rent makes my complaints about Twilight Princess seem ridiculous. It really is the best game on the console (that I've experienced anyway). I don't think I'm asking too much when I say I'd like an action game with gameplay as solid as Zelda, based on an intellectual property I enjoy. So far I've just been disappointed. Spidy3 is the best so far and even that isn't spectacular.

It'll happen eventually.

Posted by Knegative @ 07/03/2007 1:44 AM EDT

Matt, I like how you claim you're not a Simpson's fanatic and then drop a Frank Grimes reference in the same paragraph. You don't fool me.

Posted by Wyatt @ 07/03/2007 1:49 AM EDT

The closest one to me is seattle and that is several hours drive away and the closest one that isn't that one is in california so that's frickin far taking into consideration it's a 30 min drive to the washington border from here…

I just want to say I've been watching the Simpsons since I was 8 years old.  The simpsons have made me happy when I was sad, and has been my longest relationship with a friend.  When I was growing up if I saw a piece of merchandise that had bart or another simpson on it I whined until I got it.  Mostly it was cheap stuff a dollar or two so don't feel sorry for the people that took me on store trips.  I have gone to the store before (as a kid and now) with money in pocket to buy something specific and then changed my mind to buy something simpsons related.  I kept things in their packages too (opened and then put back mostly) because I wanted it to be a collectors item.  Hard for a kid to be like that.

Anyway in the 90's there was an Austrailian company that made duff beer that you can find on ebay the boxes and cans and they quickly stopped after a lawsuit fringing on copywrights obviously.

searching on ebay for that, I found another thing that kinda answers your questions.

http://cgi.ebay.com/Simpsons-Kwik-E-Mart-2-Cans-Duff-Beer-HA...

This is a Duff beer offical kwik-e-mart/7-eleven can that is orange energy drink.  How is this better?  Kids are seen drinking beer!!  Sigh.

Also, there is this small fridge that has an option to warm things up as well that looks like a duff beer can they sell in Austrailia that plugs into your car adaptor and AC I believe in their types of plugs.  Ultimate graduation present.  Or I love Goob present.  either way, not a waste of money.

Bill Have a blasty blast in Vegas and don't get into too much trouble.  And my face is trademarked so if you get a tattoo of me someplace 'ahem' then it'll cost ya.  Just sayin'.

Posted by Goob @ 07/03/2007 1:59 AM EDT

Yeah..I think after they get through rushing things to be part of the 'craze'it will get better…E3-or whatever it is called now- is next week, so hopefully we'll hear about new and great games then.  And both Mario Strikers (onine) and Metroid this summer….the hope is not dead yet.

Have you tried Resident Evil 4?  Not sure if it's your type of game, and I'm not into the "OMG shoot everything!" games, but it is actually very cool and creepy; almost like playing a movie.

Posted by Shuanfu @ 07/03/2007 2:00 AM EDT

oh man I'm so excited, I'm going to go to the Lake Buena Vista one either tomorrow or the 4th, and then I leave for Maryland, and while I'm there I'll hit up the D.C location.  SWEET.

I have contemplated getting RE4, but the Colonel told me to keep my money and he'd let me borrow his Cube copy. I played the original and 2 and they were fantastic to me. I'm a little bit afraid of how well the vibe will transfer to the Spanish country side, but it's only gotten perfect scores in all of its incarnations, must be something to it :P

I'd love to play Metroid, but I haven't played one since Super Metroid and the new one is going to be Prime 3, correct? Not sure if I'm willing to go back and play 1 and 2 :(

Game I hope they announce: Pilotwiings

Posted by Knegative @ 07/03/2007 2:16 AM EDT

If at all possible, KNeg, play the Wii version over the Cube….it's amazing how much a new control scheme makes a differnce…

You should try Metroid Prime 1, as the second one can be a bit long an frustrating.  But the first one was really a great game.  And you could probably find it pretty cheap these days, or rent it and give it a spin.

The 7-Eleven by me in Philadelphia wasn't tricked out on the outside, but the interior was all done up with signs and merch. I got way too many cans of Buzz and boxes of KrustyO's - I must have looked like the Comic Book Guy at the counter. I know it made the cashiers surlier - they were out of the Squishee cups, and when I asked if they'd be getting more, the guy just said "No" and walked away.

Matt,

I heard about this on a message board and drove by the Burbank one, but was amazed at the size of the line outside, so I didn't go in.  I figured I could just come at a later date and enjoy it when it was less crowded.  But ever since then, I've been panicking that they're going to take down all the decorations before I go.  Any idea when the Kwik-E-Marts get converted back to stupid 7-Elevens?  I can buy all the bullshit merchandise at my local one, but I also need to visit the special one and pretend I live in a cartoon.

Cheers.

DS Lite is smaller, brighter, has a much better battery and doesn't cause spasdic hand seizures after 20 minutes of play. If you buy one, I highly suggest picking up a copy of Pheonix Wright, kick ass game.

in 7th grade I was Bartman in a homemade costume.  I think i am going to buy some Buzz cola this weekend after I get paid and some Krusty-O's at the local 7-11 and build a time capsule.  Maybe for Matt to open in 20 years and do an article?  Hmmmm lol.

I feel this is a tribute to all simpsons fans I am glad we are finally getting credit.  Everything was awesome even though I don't think the employees can keep the decorations maybe just the small ones because I would think that Fox is going to ask for everything back.  I mean there were only 11 made, so they wouldn't just let them sell them on ebay.  They would take them back and do that themselves.  They are plastic figurines not cardboard cutouts.  Let's see if I am brave enough to take empties of the slurpee cups too. 2 of each please :D

Posted by Goob @ 07/03/2007 9:55 AM EDT

OH BOY OH BOY they're announcing where the Kwik e Mart in Canada is today and i am CROSSING my fingers that it's in Toronto so I can walk there on my lunch haha…I suppose they could have made some kind of Duff 'root' beer or something. I mean they're hocking everything else they can for the show would it have hurt to put some real effort into a Duff beer campaign? they woulda thrown every other summer beer campaign outta the water. And would it have REALLY been that much of an effort to biologically create a real 3 eyed fish that I could buy myself and name Blinky?…i don't think that's too much to ask for having my entire life and sense of humor for that matter being centered around the simpsons.

…did that butter churn just move? CUZ IF IT DID

TransFormers, Watched it, Really liked it, Need to add to my robot collection.  Bumblebee takes a whiz.  Frenzy loves his job.  Prime gets two classic quotes. Ironhide is a bit jumpy.  Skorponok is still out there.  Mojo is not a drug.  Cybertronians may be addicted to the Web.  Sector 7 underwear is fun to wear.  Megatron is worth the wait.  Starscream got chewed out.  And the call goes out….

I paid close attention to online Wii Trackers and even had a couple of sites send text msgs to my phone to inform me of availabilities.

I work across the street from a Target and I got a text message saying they were in stock.  I called and confirmed there were 4 delivered and out on the shelf, by the time I got there 10 minutes after that phone call, I was able to get the last one off the shelf.

This was early January.

If you need help finding any Wii trackers (if you haven't already been watching them) then let me know and I'll give you a hand.

I knew, when I heard on the news yesterday morning about the Kwik-E-Marts, that Matt would have it covered.  Bravo, Matt!

Posted by LemurCat @ 07/03/2007 11:55 AM EDT

This post was a service to all of us who have no hope of driving to one of the majestic Kwik-E-Mart redos. I was so bummed yesterday because I thought I wouldn't get to see the greatness, but here it is. Thank you! Thank you!

Posted by Lori @ 07/03/2007 11:58 AM EDT

Last night on the news, the serious-looking anchor (who clearly was not a fan and was irritated he had to cover this as "news") opened with, "Kwik-E-Mart has come to Orlando." Only he said Kwik E-Mart, like Kwik was the first word and "E-Mart" like "K-Mart." I cringed every time he said it.

Seriously? He couldn't bother to look it up before appearing on the 11 o'clock news? Lazy ass news man!

stupid add for rainbow six doesn't have a close option and keeps blocking the pictures !

I laugh every time I hear a news anchor screw up pronounciation.

In Oklahoma, we have a lot of cities names after Indians, tribes, etc…  It's hilarious hearing out-of-town reporters absolutely slaughter these city names.

I notice the same thing in local car commercials.  For example, there's a commericial for a local car lot and the guy walks up to an 03 Ford Expedition (Which is a toned down version of a Lincoln Navigator, the largest Lincoln SUV) and says "Here's an 05 Lincoln Aviator" (which is a fancy Ford Explorer, the mid-sized SUV's).  First off, it's obviously a ford with the big blue circle with "FORD" on the grille, and second, it has bright yellow "03" on the windshield.  Not to mention what I already have, the SUV he mentioned is smaller in size compared to the one he's pointing to.

It just makes me wonder if anybody actually researches or atleast pays attention to what they're trying to report, sell, whatever…  A good 5 minute pre-screen of a 30 second commercial would've been sufficient to catch that mistake.

Kwik-E-Marts:
New York City - OK, I get it…
Chicago - Not sure I get it…
Dallas - Still not sure…
Denver - Really not sure…
Burbank, Calif. - I get it…
Los Angeles - Still get it…
Henderson, Nev. - OH COME ON…over Phoenix!?!?
Orlando, Fla. - Still get it…
Mountain View, Calif. - Nope…
Seattle - Grunge on the Simpsons…
Bladensburg, Md. - What the *&@()*&^)@&)@?

Ain't that about a BEOTCH!  I live in the 5th frickin' largest city in these United States and we don't rate a Kwik-E-Mart!??!  What's a girl gotta do to get a radioactive donut around here?  It was bad enough that the fool who had 5 Krispy Kreme shops here went bankrupt and they all closed down overnight, now this!  AAAAAUUUUUGGGGGHHHHH….

Sorry, had to let it out.  Move it along folks…nothing to see here.

Hoverbored, everyone has given you great Wii catchin' advice, but remember that Sundays are your friend; that is the day many stores put out new shipments.  Usually sites like GoNintendo will even report when he big stores (WalMart, Target, ToysRUs) have Wii info in their Sunday newspaper circulars.  But the best advice is to stay with it.  I never saw a Wii in stores -got mine at launch- until about a month ago.

And the DSLite is an improvement over the DSPhat as someone covered before.  If you get one, be sure to get a game that shows of the controls, like the above mentioned Pheonix Wright or Elite Beat Agents.  Clubhouse Games is another good, long play game, but the system still has ton of other 'traditional' style games.

Haven't he had this conversation before?  BTW, I replaced my DS ArmorLite case with the NERF case.  Very nerd sheik.  And the thing could survive an atomic blast now.

Matt I played Pokemom BR for a few battles and it was okay, but didn't blow me away.  Maybe I'm not enough of a Poke-head to get really into it….

It's ok, I live in Oklahoma City, the only area in the world where 7-11's are privately owned, so not only do I not get a local Kwik-E-Mart, but I also miss out on even the products.  Our 7-11's don't offer "Slurpee's", they sell them as Icy's, no, not ICEE, but Icy, there's a difference (though you don't care).

Ours also don't sell hot dogs or nachos, so much for a simpsons food box.

And since our 7-11's are owned by a Catholic (I mean no offense), they also don't sell adult magazines (which doesn't matter to me), lottery tickets (still doesn't matter to me), or condoms, which sucks because they're 1/2 a mile from me and the only place thats open 24 hours that does sell them is Wal Mart 2 miles away, and traveling 4 miles lasts an eternity when you're caught up in the moment and interrupted by the fact you're out of trojans.

7-11s here suck.

Posted by fistpittingnork @ 07/03/2007 1:28 PM EDT

….maybe if they release another Bill and Ted movie they will decorate the local Circle K's around here…

Posted by phunqsauce @ 07/03/2007 1:31 PM EDT

uhhhh…my heart just broke a little cuz the ONLY 7-11 that was kwik e mart-ified is in COQUITLAM British Columbia. and i know what you're thinking, you're thinking WHERE THE HELL IS THAT. and to that i say, EXACTLY. They really picked weird cities…I thought at least Ontario but no dice. :*(

YAYYYY! I was sad cause I'm in Canada and now I'm doing a happy dance since it's in Coquitlam, less than an hour away!  But how do I find out which store in the town is it?  I am SO going there now!

Were the floors all Stik-E-Mart?

Sorry, I had to.

No 7-11's in Iowa. :(

Saw Ratatooie yesterday and it is the best Pixar film to date.  I loved every moment of it.

Posted by JLAJRC @ 07/03/2007 4:05 PM EDT

Freaking sweet. I am going to look up the closest Kwik-E-Mart and go there. The Simpsons were a huge part of my childhood. I got in trouble in 6th grade for making the bart simpson overbite in my class picture. I won a slap braclet for having the funniest pic.

Posted by Empare @ 07/03/2007 5:14 PM EDT

Hoverbored, eBay, DUH!!!!

Sure you're going to pay the eBay "surcharge" but that is always worth it. eBay isn't some magical land of free things, it's like a skypirate's den where, if you've got the money, you can get anything you want.

I bought my DS and my Wii off of eBay. I wanted a DS during the drought of Christmas 06, and I paid the price for it.

I figured it out, Shaun. The reticle moves the camera. Sure I'm being a little more active with the Wiimote than usual, but you can brings things into focus. I played the Jazz chapter and OMG it was amazing. Had to do it about 30 times before I cleared it, but I enjoyed every second of it. Now I have to finish the Ironhide stuff so I can replay Jazz :D

I just came from watching the TRANSFORMERS and I firmly believe that, along with the Simpsons, they will be the best movies of the year.

Posted by Mufu @ 07/03/2007 7:39 PM EDT

It's at 1198 Landsdowne Street in Coquitlam. I'm 4 hours away but am enough of a Simpsons mark to think about making the trip this weekend. The woman would be quite suprised if I told her we were going for a shopping trip, and even more so when all it included was a 7-11.

Posted by Tterb @ 07/03/2007 7:49 PM EDT

No Kwik-E-Mart in Albuquerque (Home of the Isotopes)?!?! What the hell….?!

Posted by underdog! @ 07/03/2007 8:02 PM EDT

No one has done spoilers yet, but be advised that I will bringing them with me early tomorrow morning. I'll tag them of course.

Basically, I'm just reminding people to please, make with the SPOILER tags. They're being a little inconsiderate over at Shrine right now. I'm not sure why, they're usually on top of that.

I went there today and all they had was buzz cola, a few key chains and squishees. No cereal :(

Posted by Alexis @ 07/04/2007 2:40 AM EDT

Just a quick note to those not living near one of the "converted" stores.  I went into a regular 7-11 today and even they had a few of the Kwik-E-Mart gimmicks.

It had the "Squishee" machine going in full-force and they also had one last PINK DONUT!  I didn't buy it as it didn't look particularly fresh.  This was around 3 in the afternoon.  I think I may stop by there today and see what else they may have in stock.  Yes, I do regret not buying the one last donut, just in case I never see it again.

I so would have bought a case of BUZZ COLA even at 89 cents a pop.

I am so looking forward to watching the Simpsons movie…watching it tank that is.

I will admit though that this looks like a really cool ad campaign they have going. I don't have any 7-11 locations in the Raleigh area though, we have Kangaroo stops instead. I don't think there's any 7-11s in the Carolinas (Charlotte and Myrtle Beach included)

I so went there on the first day.  I was in Nirvana, and I don't mean Kurt Cobain's band.  Matt, you forgot to take pictures of the Krusty for charity bin at the counter ("With up to 7% going to actual kids!") and of the $4 Radioactive Man origin comic book in a mylar bag.  High-larious.

"See Ratatouille instead of Transformers, or greedy Disney execs will decide John Lasseter doesn't deserve to be in charge and replace him with another bean-counter and the video sequels will start all over again!"

If I say that on this site, will it fall on deaf ears?

Kevin said

I doubt there is, but does anyone know if theres one of these in Pittsburgh!?  I need a case of Duff beer pronto!

I remember that once upon a time there was at least one 7-11 in Pittsburgh, but that was…longer than I care to think about.

Of course, even if there is, even if it's Kwik-E-Mart'ed, and even if there was a Duff beer tie-in, you wouldn't be able to get Duff (or any beer) there due to Pennsylvania's alcohol laws.

Posted by Bernhard @ 07/05/2007 8:26 PM EDT

Christ…How did I know YOU would cover this?

The movie's going to suck, but all that promotional junk is a nolstagia fanatic's wet dream.

Too bad I don't live near a  7-11 :(

Awesome.  I wish the 7-11's here in Japan would do that.  Oh yeah, forgot to mention, I'm in Japan now…

I wrote a pretty extensive feature on the Chicago Kwik-E-Mart based on a 4-hour visit Tuesday.  THEY had plenty of KrustyO's in stock.  You won't believe how much money they were making over there.

I've also got audio of the store's owner telling customers "Thank you, come again" with an Indian accent, arguing that the Simpsons are bigger than Star Wars and saying that Apu's character inspired him to buy his first 7-Eleven.

Five reasons to visit the Chicago Kwik-E-Mart

Kowabunga Dudes, I Live in Las Vegas, Nv and I have to tell you a few cool things I've Seen, How about THE SIMPSONS REAL HOUSE, ’bout 11 years ago I had the privledge of touring the not too famous Simpsons Replica House which was truly amazing, you just don't feel there home on TV like you do Litterally walking through it! The house was a giveaway for somethin' or other But you can do a search for it it's on 712 Red Bark Lane, is part of Kaufman and Broad's Springfield Community,South Valley Ranch!if on g**gle maps in Henderson find Boulder Hwy & Broadbent then past the center of the park Find Red Bark Ln. count down to the 9th house on the North side of the street, however when I saw it, it was in full Technicolor, but they have since repainted! And for some wierd reason there actually is a Quickie Mart in this town on the corner of Flamingo and Cameron in a strip mall! Oh Yea if you check a U.S. Map try northwestern Kentucky, I'm almost certain the Simpsons are modeled after a little town called Simpsonville it's right next to Shelbyville, Ky. I could Be Wrong!

There's two 7-11's within a couple blocks of me here in Denver (only one got the Kwik-e-Mart makeoever, though).  They've both been COMPLETELY sold out of Simpsons stuff every time I go by.  ::sigh::  Oh how I pine for a box of Krusty O's and a six pack of Buzz Cola…
