My parents bought me the die-cast Megatron for Christmas one year and it stands to this day as the greatest X-Mas gift I have ever received. It sounds crazy but the fact that my 60′s era hippie holdout parents would buy me a toy that transformed into a weapon solidified in my brain that this was the coolest toy ever. I loved the Transformers cartoon so much, I insisted that people call me Spike so that I could feel closer to my heros. Ahhh memories.

I just so happen to have Huffer also… the favorite of my transformers. I have many of the odd Gen-1 transformers… but my transformers never could compare to my Go-bots! I kept all my toys from when I was a small child… all locked away it a big box. Most are very odd toys most people never heard of.

I’m still a practicing member in the church of Transformerigery and I have to say my “so awesome I soiled myself/so crappy I soiled myself” jitters over the movie were pretty high when I heard about it. I’ve heard some disturbing things, so we’ll see I guess. At least the toys look cool. I owned so many of the gen 1′s that it’s shameful to post them all here. Suffice it to say I haven’t forgiven my parents(or me, or maybe aliens) for losing them all while I was busy chasing girls. As soon as I realized how useless that was I wanted my Transformers back. At least I still have some of my the comics and can make out with Arcee.

Again, late to the party because I was out of town all last week…but I have to post about my love for Real Gear Transformers. Spy Shot was the first one I got, and I’ve also picked up Booster X-10 and the binoculars. These toys are awesome because of their simplicity and because they look like real world objects. They are reminiscent of Soundwave’s cassettes, and whatever it is that I love about them is what I loved about GoBots.

Plus, it’s too awesome that they took Buzzsaw/Laserbeak and updated him from the old cassette technology to the now more relevant mp3 player. He’s the best one so far, but I can’t wait to get the watch one that’s coming out. I just hope it functions!

I can’t be bothered to read three miles of comments, but the ones I skimmed didn’t seem to have what I’m about to post in them, so here we go. The Real Gear guys aren’t in the movie as far as anyone knows, they were made to capitalize on the fact that the “Energon Cube” (which apparently is not just a glowing purple hunk of Transformer fuel like it ought to be) makes a bunch of mundane earth technology suddenly come to life as Transformers. Which is absolutely retarded, but Michael Bay doesn’t seem to care that half the things he butchered the original concepts of for this movie are retarded. But the toys are pretty cool, I got Booster X-10 (which is just a stupid name) who turns from an MP3 player into, well, pretty much Laserbeak.

Unfortunately, my part of the world has a limited release for these toys. There is a sizable amount of toys you can get, but also sorely lacking in some key players. For example, you cannot get Megatron anymore period.

For myself, I’d want to get that transforming Soundwave mp3 player, and those funny pillow type transformers. Fun poopoo.
