I had grand plans for tonight’s SNT, but they were stolen by a fever and bronchitis and blunt head trauma.

Blunt head trauma? That could be anything. Recover soon.
Wish I could recover from watching my husband play Halo. He doesn’t even like it…it’s a strange ritual, like self-flagellation.
I’m giving you virtual get-better hugs, but you can’t feel them because you’re not wearing a compatible virtual hug jacket.

D’oh! Best laid plans…
How is everybody?

Man, I hope you feel better soon! The best plans you could lay now are to sleep for the rest of the weekend, then eat as much chicken soup as your throat can stand and watching plenty of good movies.

Saw Shrek 3 today, it was hilarious, even if I had to put up with people bringing screaming babies to the theater.

Forget the chicken soup. Matt needs Vitamin C…therefore screwdrivers.

Manimal: You are T-minus 60 days to kid. Excited?
Matt: Don’t fall asleep. Head trauma leads to long, long, long naps.

Being sick sucks, I’m guessing some people are more prone to bronchitis, cause I swear it wasn’t that long ago Matt was sick with it for a few weeks?
I did a stupid thing last night and joined god damn facebook, I cannot get off! I add people as friends and I end up spending all my time waiting for their approval and adding more people while I wait.
This weekend is a Canadian long weekend, we have a local carnival that’s here and I really want to take my son on the marry-go-round, I wanted to go today, butmy husband is working, so it’s gonna have to be Monday.

Ghosted by
IHAQ @ 05/19/2007 9:49 PM EDT
Man…I miss the carnival. It has been so long since one has stopped in my town. It is pretty hard to beat a fresh squeezed lemonade and a funnel cake.

Facebook, blech. Myspace is bad enough. When did we start getting invites from people who want to show us their nude videos? Bulletins were bad enough.
Well since that X-E group never happened, I guess I’m stuck with a sorry excuse for a YTMND to call my own.

I hope Matt gets better soon; I was just thinking how it wasn’t that long ago that Matt was pretty sick.
Seeing as no one has started one yet, I would like to start a survey: Who do you think is the most overrated actor or actress out there? You can put underrated actors as well. My choice for overrated actress is Scarlett Johanssen, as she comes out as pretty bland in just about every moive I’ve seen her in.

We have the local carnival here, too Wed-Sat, but in the grand tradition, it rained every single day. Very few carnivals happen in this town without rain. I did go to the gun show today, which was amusing. I bought two wooden croaking frogs. My friend bought some giant three-pronged sharp ass knife thing. It came with a free whip.

Happy SNT, all! Feel better, Matt. I hate being sick, although the feeling of being able to breathe normally again after a bad cold is somehow euphoric.

Believe me I am not happy that I have facebook, but I had an ex-friend who wants to apologize from the past and the only contact I got was facbook, now I’m addicted.
It rains every year for the carnival, not today, but we’ll have to see Monday, I wish it wasn’t such a assbackwards town and have the carnival open on Sunday too.
The most overrated actor or actress out there? Yell at me if you want but I’m going with Angelina Jolie, she knows she’s the hottest person right now and she loves it way too much, you can see it in her smile with thoughs oversized lips.

I’ve read as many of the hundreds of hundreds of comments from the last few weeks as I could- but we are all well aware that McDonald’s has brought back Shamrock Shakes in the guise of Shrek Mint Mudbath Shakes? In all honesty, I’ve heard this is the best part of the Shrek Threequill.
Quick- list your summer plans: Mine include building a Macquarium and filling it with triops… and also getting a job inside a Norman Rockwell painting where I sell African masks and sculptures. Don’t laugh, I start tomorrow.
Not at all on topic, if there even really is one…
I had a fun movie night planned at a friends and then like 1/2 an hour ago…his wife’s parents and her sister with her husband show up…what do they do? Start talking….then ask us to start the movie over again….okay, fine, but we’ll get to watch the movies still, even if we’re already almost an hour into it….fuck…but I was still chill…we’re gonna watch a movie….please?
Now what is going on? That should be obvious, as I picked up the laptop and started posting here with you guys…{sigh}…my buddy even left to go ’somewhere’ and since we restarted the movie, these people have done nothing but talk very loud….so much for movie night….
I’m trying to think of a polite way to leave without seeming rude…I think I feel a stomach ache coming on….maybe I’ll cut to the store for some libation and get home in time for Zach Braff on SNL….yeah, I think I ‘really’ do feel sick….time to escape….be back once I get home…

James Marsters does not get enough love. (Points to the survey query above) Also, it was always my dream to one day open up a traveling carnival with real side show oddities, like a mind reader and other kinds of strange things, which eerily enough predated Carnivale. I owe a great deal of brain trauma to The Last Unicorn.

FyarlGirl @ 05/19/2007 10:55 PM EDT
Dang it.
I had this whole speal about how James Marsters is never in anything you can like him in, because c’mon against Hugh Jackman and Ryan Gosling only Keanu and Cusack could hope to win.
But it turns out that is James Marsden. James Marsters is a different d00d

Ghosted by
K- @ 05/19/2007 11:03 PM EDT
I second that James Marsters has not received any true respect or recognition for his acting/music skills from any group other than the truly obsessed Buffyverse fans. Its really sad. He just has not been given any opportunities to play a lead in a good solid film- independant or mainstream. If he could just get that one break…that one awesome script, that would define him as an actor and not just a sex-symbol for a select group of people. * Rant over. *
Feel better Matt!!!!

There’s a carnival that comes to my town every year called “Stanky’s Roadside Attractions” -the rides look really unsafe, the consession stand workers all have Russian accents, you can win hermit crabs, goldfish, Git R Done mirrors, softcore 90s posters, or pocket knives (by throwing a ring over the handle), AND there’s a “snake man” who lugs 3000 feet anachondas around in 10 gallon tanks! I loves it!

Hope you feel better Matt. Fevers stink terribly. But there is nothing better IMO then when they break and you feel normal again.
I make some enimies here, but I cannot stand George Clooney. I have no idea what has made him the sexiest man or deserving of awards or anything. I can’t put my finger on it, I just don’t see talent there.
Shaunfu- you made me laugh. YAY for posting anger while in the midst of awkwardness.
johnny- there is nothing better than a good funnel
cake. Or any carnival food for that matter. My personal favorite is pronto pups. I could live on those.
Happy SNT to all. Snl is my only plan this evening and probably some evil MySpacing. I have a facebook too, but have never utilized it. I just got it cause my employees were raving about it but they are all in high school. Getting babysitters at the end of the school year is nearly impossible so I will try to have a social life once again in June.

Yes. It is definately the Shamrock Shake. I’ve tried it…and I realized I don’t like it. Such a shame, after about 2 or so years of looking…
Speaking of injuries, my voice is shot because of all the screaming I did at 6 Flags Great Adventure yesterday. Luckily, it’s much better now. When I woke up this morning, I could barely talk.
I recently joined the Pokemon 4th Generation on Tuesday with the Pearl version that was given to me from my frat bro, along with a DS. I picked Piplup (2 of my friends, including my bro, chose Turtwig and I don’t like Chimchar). Two problems I have right now:
1) No wifi in my house
2) He forgot to give me the charger for the DS and the batteries died on Thursday. I was just up to the first gym!
Also, Season finale of SNL on tonight! Don’t miss if you watch it!
BILL- Glad you liked it I stil own that movie on a really old heavy VHS tape. (kidneyboy we got another in the club

Hey Matt, sucks that you are sick. Get better. And hope your head doesn’t hurt too much (is there a story here? Turn your illness into an article! We’ll read anything you write.
So today I went to an antique mall and they had a giant VW sign, the kind that would hang outside a dealership. Like 5 feet in diameter.
Problem was, it was $1200 bucks. Ouch. Not to mention the fact that I’d have to rent a truck to move it down to my house (350 miles away)…
RE: Facebook. I’m on it, but I didn’t sign up until AFTER graduating from College. I found it to be great to keep up with friends and their addresses, etc. But some people post all kind of crap on there that frankly, A)I don’t give a damn about and B)Shouldn’t be public.
Happy SNT!

Earlier today I saw a (sparkly pink) funnel cake truck driving around. There was some discussion of a roadside hijacking.
For me, most overrated might have to be Ben Stiller. I like him okay, I just don’t see how he’s any kind of comedic genius. Same goes for Will Ferrell.

squee4242 @ 05/20/2007 1:59 AM EDT
I have to go with that, Squee. I really like The Ben Stiller Show, but very few of his movies live up to the hype.
Says the man who owns Feel This Book. Dan Blocker is his guardian angel. That’s all I remember from it. I should re-read it, maybe I’ll get something more out of it now. OR I could watch Mystery Men.
Jesus I was all about that song back in 99. Now just look what Smash Mouth have done to themselves. Quite sad really.

Anchorman is just epic. At first, I hated it. I actually fell asleep in the theatre. I gave it a second chance and was entranced.
Though, the commentary track is almost funnier than the movie, thanks to Koechner.

Kyle and Norbert:
I too thought that McDonald’s had brought back the shamrock shake disguised as Shrek crap, but it’s no replacement. The chocolate in the new shake really ruins it. I love shamrock shakes more than life itself and I could barely stomach this new monstrosity.

In case anyone was concerned…I managed my escape very smoothly….on the way home I passed another friends house -you know everyone where I live- and noticed a few cars outside…..turn in, do the pop in, have a great chat, watch SNL -okay, but still not great; more fun with the crowd I was in- and just got home a few mo’s ago….moral of the story: when your night turns shitty, fix it!
And Invader Norbert, you probably know this, but any good game retailer will sell extra/replacement power charging plugs. I also am okay with admitting I got da Pokeman -4th gen was my first- and become sadly addicted to it for a week and a half. Need to pick it up again.
If you’ve never had a DS before and want a fun game that works great in short spurts, I highly recommend Elite Beat Agents. Super game. I actually have Ouendan 2 (sequel to the Jananese original) on the way right now. Also, I recommend the larger ‘pen’ stylus, they are cheap and so much better than the tiny on with the system. Finally, the Armor Lite case is an awesome and cheap way to keep you DS sharp and safe…check in out on the interweb if your interested…I actually may get the NERF case if I can find one in black….
and…….scene
This Nintendo ramble has been brought to you today by the letter C, the numbers 4 and 7, and way to many years playing video games…..

I cannot stand George Clooney. I have no idea what has made him the sexiest man or deserving of awards or anything. I can’t put my finger on it, I just don’t see talent there.
I think it all boils down to one cinematic masterpiece: Return of the Killer Tomatoes. Once you watch that little gem you’ll be a fan for life, guaranteed.
I second the Armor Lite recommendation, especially if you have a black (Onyx) DS. I picked it up on Shaun’s advice and it is indispensable. No more fingerprints, no more smudges. The best thing about my DS is the DS itself, since the only game I’ve ever had for it is Final Fantasy III.
Phantom Hourglass shall be mine just to make up for this grave injustice.

Thursday I got for 70 cents Best of Uncle John’s Bathroom Reader at Goodwill! NEAT! For those of you not on the same page, Matt got one of those books for Christmas. This continues my journey to be as cool as he is.
I also got two books from the Sesame street book series for my cousin’s daughter she’s 18 and she had a baby in October that I am living through her enjoyment. I am feeling very strong maternal urges. The books are from a series that was made in the early 80’s I wish I could afford the old school sesame street dvd so she can avoid the elmo sell out fest that show is now. I want to get her the complete series very slowly of those books so that is fun. They were 50 cents a piece and very slightly scribbled on. A wonderful bright little boy drew a hand on one of the blank white pages. He drew a line on the tip of the finger (under the first joint) to represent the fingernail. But it has a sesame street version of Rupunzel isn’t that great when they used to do that? The muppets too! I am not being sarcastic I really like that. Even though I was being sarcastic about the drawing. I also got an Arthur book but it was a newer one so that’s not as neat. I seen a purple disney little mermaid pair of overalls too but I couldn’t afford to buy them without putting everything else back. But they were so neat I’ll try to find other ones like it before her kid is that age. They were 4T’s so they were roomy. I am seeing her today it’s going to be KEWL lol.
See you all later!

sYou know you guys are the only people I ‘know’ that agree with me on the idea that Will Ferrell is extremely overrated? Everywhere else people just tell me I don’t ‘get’ the joke. What they don’t understand is that I get it; it’s just not funny….never have I been a fan of actors or movies that try to ‘force the funny’, as if they take it so far that they almost should have words on the screen saying “This is funny. You are going to laugh. If not at first, you will, because we will beat you over the head with it until you think it is funny. Then we will instill many quotes from this scene into the dialect of all your friends until you have to except this as funny, only because everyone else does…be the sheep you were born to be and BAAAAH with the rest of them and laugh damn it!!” Will was prefectly suited for something like SNL but I just don’t enjoy him when he streches a character that is (sometimes) entertaining in a five minute scetch and puts it into a long ass movie…
I am also not a fan of actors that never try anything new, which leads me to agree with previous statements about Jack Nicholson and Ben Stiller. But I am a bit more forgiving of these folks than I am of the “beat you over the head” funny types. I’ve enjoyed a few Stiller movies, but not usually because of him. Same for Jack. In fact, I really only ever liked ‘Jack the actor’ in three movies: Batman, As Good As It Gets (even though it is him, just a different breed of crazy), and The Departed. I look at Tom Hanks the same way; he is talented but he plays very similiar character types.
That’s why I’m such a huge fan of actors like Johnny Depp. Love him or hate him, it is really hard to say that very many of the characters he plays are very similiar. He truly builts a character from the ground up -not just with a slight voice change and maybe a slight accent (Tom Hanks ala The Terminal)- He moves beyond what is a decent impression (Will Ferrell’s Ricky Bobby and Anchorman) and creates a living person.
Man, I sure am rather long winded this weekend

Back when I was five I was in a three wheeled shopping cart at Wal-Mart. My mom went over a curb and it fell over, causing me to smash my head into the parking lot. I was almost instantly knocked out and ended up suffering from amnesia and a pretty decent concussion. After that, I’ve spent the last fifteen years of my life undergoing tests from the Baylor College of Medicine to make sure my head werk gud. Not every day, mind you, but once every six to eight months or so. The cool part is that they would pay me for the tests and also said I perform unusually well at mazes and reaction time tests. Had I not ever needed to venture to the medical district, my love for Chipotle would never have been…
In short, I too know the pain of blunt force head trauma, Matt.

Although I don’t have a fiery passion against Will Ferrell, I as well do not see him as a comedic genius. I thought he was fine on SNL, but his movies are annoying.
Mike Myers is kinda the same for me. I loved him on SNL and the first Waynes world and So I Married An Axe Murderer, but everything he’s done since then bores me.
And I would just like to say, that beyond the hundreds of funny and amazing articles on this site, I am here daily just to read the blog.
And can I be annoying and suggest a medicine for you, Matt? I had a the sickness for a month last fall, the only thing that helped at all was this hippie type cough syrup called Umcka I got from the co-op. It’s made from a root grown in South Africa.

Way to represent,K. When a group faces an opponent, they gotta unify and close ranks. If Matt needs the summer off, kudos to him for recognizing his needs. I can wait for the Halloween countdown, just so long as I write poetry on rainy Friday nights about how I love rainy Friday nights, and also just so long as I don’t think about chicken when I’m eating Doritos.

Ghosted by

(4:13 PM) Very sick. Temperature in the 101-102 range. Won’t get into the more gruesome specifics, but admit that I can fill an empty tub of Kenner’s RGB Ecto-Plazm and nobody would be the wiser.

Matt @ 05/20/2007 4:14 PM EDT
With a temp that high, shouldn’t you be in the hospital instead?

Ghosted by
JLAJRC @ 05/20/2007 4:15 PM EDT
(4:18) I’m currently taking antibiotics, Ibuprofen, Theraflu, Nyquil and delicious strawberry Halls cough drops. You’d think that this combo would at least knock me the fuck out in not actually make me feel better, but here I am, wide awake and hurting. I’ve also developed one of those situations where, when I sneeze, sharp, hideous debilitating pains shoot through my entire body, from head to toe. As if I was being pummeled by Palpatine’s lightning.
JLA: No way, I don’t think a temp would warrant a hospital visit until it hit the 104-105 range. I’m probably in doctor range, but anything below 101 is just a flesh wound, baby.

(4:23) I wish it was Saturday, because I had a couple of assignments that were due tomorrow, and there’s no way they are getting done. I’ve already begun sending e-mails out in the hopes to exaggerate my position as a dying man, but the truth is, being sick and working at the same time feels something like having your dick bit off by Satan’s dog twice. And I do not have two dicks.

(4:26) Whoa whoa whoa, I’ve located Ferris Bueller’s Day Off! Something good on TV! (4:41) Was starting to feel winded in an upright position, and now I’m somewhere between upright and flat — positioned kind of like how a dead body would be if shoved inside a washing machine box before rigor mortis set in. Rigor mortis is a funny word. Or pair of words.
In this new position, I’m not so much watching Regarding Henry as I am our fish tank, which is down to one lonesome parrot. We used to have a bunch of parrots, a big ass Geophagus, something called a “dolphin whale” and a couple of other things in there. Now it’s just a parrot. And when the parrot dies? I add salt and a mantis shrimp.

(4:34) Girlfriend enters the room. She’s sick too, but not as sick. She disagrees. I want her to get remote. She disagrees, on basis of her being sick as well. I challenge her theory, referencing the several instances over the weekend where she’s refused to take her temperature after me. Please. If you know you have a temperature, the first thing you do is find a thermometer so you can validate your patheticness. If you don’t want to check your temp, it’s because you doubt the validity of your supposed fever. In short, she’s a faker and she should have gotten me the remote control.

Man, After Reading that Animal thread, It reminded me that I used to own one of those. I had a yellow corvette looking one. That thing was awesome, until I made it try to climb over our long haired dog, then the claws got tangled up and the just kept winding the hair tighter and tighter into the tires. Long story short, it got taken away from me and my dog had four bald spots on his back where we had to shave him.
Does anyone remember the line of toys that were construction vehicles that were decked out in armor and guns. They really looked Road Warrior esque. I cant for the life of me remember what they were named. They were about the size of Tonka trucks, I had a Road Grater and what I think was a cross between a jeep and a bronco. But anyway, those things were awesome and quickly became the vehicle of choice for all of my toys.

Matt, you’re probably wide awake because you’re over-medicating. I’m no doctor, but that sounds like a ton of medications. Maybe you should just stick to NyQuil? That usually knocks me on my ass for 8 or 9 hours.
Regarding death journals, I have heard of at least one such, though I haven’t read it. Supposedly a guy working on nuclear weapons brought two pieces of plutonium together, and combined they were above critical mass. He saw a blue flash (really bad news when working with radioactive material) and moved the pieces apart. However, he’d already received a lethal dose of radiation. He started writing down his symptoms as he died over the next few hours/days from radiation poisoning. One of my more morbid colleagues at work (a radiological controls engineer) claims to have read it. I would think anyone but him was bullshitting me, but he’s not the type to spread urban legends or pull my leg.
I hear the ice-cream man coming! Yay!

Ok, after having watched the trailer a coupe of times. Something was bothering me. I couldn’t place my finger on it, then it hit me. This movie looks like it’s going to be over the top ridiculous and Way more than usual. It’s like they watched the UHF parody of the Rambo movies, and thought “Hey, thats not half bad!” so they based the new movie off of the parody that Weird Al did that was making fun of the movie in the first place.

OK, I have a confession to make. I am a graduate of the Institute of Culinary Education in New York, for our final exam we had to create a menu for a 600 dollar a plate dinner and make sure every single patron (There were about 350) was pleased and we had no complaints.
Why am I telling you this. Because today, I screwed up. Do to the talk of Spider-man Mac and Cheese and whatnot, I thought to myself, Man that would hit the spot. So after perusing my cabinets, the only thing I had Mac and Cheese wise was the microwavable kind, So I put the noodles in the included bowl, dump in the cheese powder and let it cook.
I forgot the water……Yes thats right, I forgot to put the water into the dry powder and dry noodle mix.

Cameron T. @ 05/20/2007 10:37 PM EDT
Alright, here’s some exposition, because you want to read it, and I want to type it:
Basketcase: At the end of the day, I’m a very simple creature. I absolutely adore anything more colorful than the rainbow and this video is just absolutely trippy and beautiful. Plus it is quite simply one of their best songs. They have written many songs that are more meaningful and moving, but this is the one I play first for anyone not initiated. It says it all. “Do you have the time to listen to me whine about nothing and everything all at once?” Well do ya?
Dammit: Floored me the same way Basketcase did. The first time I saw it, the world stopped rotating for 2 minutes and change. Another song that says it all.
Allstar: I was so hyped for Mystery Men, because I was in love with Janeane Garofalo that year. The movie is honestly subpar, but I drug the Colonel to it anyway. This is honestly Smash Mouth at their best, and everyone can take that anyway they like
Ocean Avenue: slightly confusing, completely heart melting. And the sky, good god I just want to ride down the highway forever under that sky in the last shot.
Keep Fishin’: The music biz’s equivalent of Kingdom Hearts. Weezer and the Muppets. You can see the disdain in Rivers’ eyes the whole time, but you can still tell he knows he’s making a masterwork.
honorable mention: Perfect Situation. You never see Rivers coming, NEVER.

Niqel- great survey question…1979 is my favorite SP song by far.
Pictures of You and Friday I’m in Love-The Cure
Where the Streets have No Name-U2
Glycerine-Bush
Heart Shaped Box-Nirvana
Alex Chilton- The Replacements (even though it was essentially nothing)
I know this is the worlds most recycled opinion, but I wish I could sit and watch videos on TV without the dumb stuff. Sure you can do it on Youtube, but it’s nothing close to the same.

I honestly wish that the Ataris, Our Lady Peace, and Counting Crows would put out DVD compilations of their videos. I’ve seen about 2 from each, and I know they are the kind of bands that make quality videos. The only video collection I really have is International Superhits! Don’t get me wrong it’s great, but far from enough.
Is it just me or are too many bands doing Cure covers lately. Especially Love Song and Pictures of You. I want to stab them all in the eyes, honestly. If a band does a good cover, I’m all for acknowledging it, but I’ve yet to hear a good Cure cover. 311 needs to serve 6 terms in hell. Oh yeah, that song is all about sitting in an island-themed bar and having girls make “f*** me” eyes at you. FAIL.
I adore the version of Somewhere over the Rainbow on the 50 First Dates soundtrack though. Always make me feel all warm and fuzzy.

So, I got some Apple Jacks today, and they weren’t just ordinary Apple Jacks - they were Apple Jacks Crashers. This has to be the most bizzare/pointless marketing of cereal ever. There’s a story on the box about “Apple” and “Cinna-Mon” somehow crashing together and they get stuck. It basically looks like Cinna-Mon is stuck down through Apple. Anyhow, I guess they needed a story on why they A.J.’s machine started pumping out weird shapes (looks like a circle with a line through it) and used this one. I mean, really - what normal human being is ever going to come up with that as a real seller? You can click my name to see the official website.
Favorite videos: “Closer” by NIN. Microphone + Trent’s tongue = need I say more?
His “Only” video was pretty cool, too.

OH! I forgot to mention “Take On Me” by A-ha! (An aside.. the Reel Big Fish cover is really good if you like ska) Kingdom Hearts II note: I now hate Xaldin… stupid lances!!
He’s not a favorite personality wise, but Xaldin certainly does give you a run for your money. Have to use that Learn reaction command judiciously.
Wait til you get to Xigbar. The surfer-talking dude who taunted you back when you first got to Hollow Bastion. He has guns and he is quite possibly the toughest normal boss in the game. Tougher than Sephiroth. To me, anyway.

I like Parabol/Parabola by Tool and Don’t Worry be Happy by Bobby Mcferin for the same obvious reason, so I won’t chose one over the other.

K-, Basketcase is a fantastic song, and “Dookie” is by far my favorite Green Day CD. It’s something that takes me back to the few good parts of high school. It seems like that CD was always playing in my friends’ cars.
Favorite videos? Man, I don’t think I’ve even SEEN a video in about 10 years. Even so…
Billy Idol- Rock the Cradle of Love- Man, that nerdy dude was just so funny to me. It’s so pathetic that I have become that which I ridiculed.
Rammstein- Sonne- It’s a kickass song even if you don’t know German. The Snow White parody where she’s an abusive drug addict who spanks the band for not mining enough gold (a stand-in for cocaine) is so cool.
Red Hot Chili Peppers- Scar Tissue- I like this one mainly for the Pontiac Bonneville converitble they are driving around at the end. I had a buddy who had the exact same car in high school. It was freakin’ huge. When the weather was good, we’d load it up with about 10 people and just go cruise aimlessly. Good times, good times.
White Zombie- Thunderkiss ‘65- This video is so cheesy it’s good, and it is DEFINITE X-E fare. Go-Go dancers aside, Death (wearing long-johns) hitches a ride with a Mexican wrestler and they both end up drinking champagne with the Frankenstein monster. Awesome.

I have finally found and bought Stephen Colbert’s Americone Dream ice cream! I shall try it tomorrow and tell you how it is. For the Long Island X-Eers, I found it at Shop-Rite (accoridng to the B&J’s site, besides B&J shops, the only locations near me are all Shop Rites)
As for best music vid?
Weird Al’s “Fat” is probably the best video he ever did, closely followed by “Amish Paradise” and “White & Nerdy”
And not one person has said the Beastie Boys classic “Sabotage”? Definately one of the best videos ever made.
As for Green Day, may I offer up the vid for “Longview” from the Nimrod album. Very awesome song, and one of my favorite GD songs (”Basket Case” is right up there, but I like “Longview” a little bit more)
one of my favorite videos has always been “Catch” by the Cure, simple but perfect. I don’t know where they were, looked like the south of France or something but it looked really chill.
dunno why but i happened to see a mtv show about hillary duff (and actually watched it) but she was jammin out to boys don’t cry in a makeup room or something, was a lil odd. she wouldn’t strike me as a cure fan
Robert Smith and any diehard Cure fan right now are all asking the same question: What is Colonel DeBeers doing these days?

Beastie Boys - Sabotage
Weezer - Buddy Holly
Pearl Jam - Do the Evolution
Michael Jackson - Thriller (of course)
Chris Cunningham has made some great videos, too many to list off. Aphex Twin, Bjork, Portishead, etc…
Just to name off a couple of my favs.
Well Matt, here I am thinking I’m the only one in the world that’s able to catch a cold in 80 degree weather, but it seems you may have one-upped it and gone balls out and claimed a slice of the flu pie for yourself… show off. Well get feeling better soon.
dallasmovie, she probably isn’t really a cure fan, but these days it’s cool to listen to the cure. Then again, when you’re responsible for such chart-topping smash hits like “Come Clean”, perhaps you do have an ear for music.
The perfect time for the next Rambo movie would have been right after 9/11. Would have made tons of money back then when everyone was pseudo patriotic. Too late now. Although I am intrigued by all the gore.

I actually heard that Robert Smith was working on something with Ashley Simpson, which makes me ill.
And I am adding Sabotage to my list. I think that is Beatie Boys greatest albumn, both musically and lyrically. IMO I think becaues it was after their juvenile phase and before they became all buddah in your face.

Robert Smith working with Ashley Simpson? Michael Jackson running a daycare center is less creepy! License to Ill is THE Cult Hall O’ Fame choice for the Beasties for old time sakes, as well as to make me forget that they are a bunch of Nancy-Boy SuckAsses now.

When I was younger I had the good sense to tape certain music videos on MTV/VH1…I haven’t watched those tapes in awhile, but I do remember “Linger” by the Cranberries, “Come Unndone” by Duran Duran and that Snoop Dogg vid when everyone actually turns into dogs were just some of the many I snagged. I miss those days when the music channels actually played music…
Feel better, Matt…I hate getting sick in the spring/summertime…It’s so unfair.
Happy SNT to all…On a Monday.

Man, now I’m sorry I was so busy yesterday. By the time I got home I went straight to bed…
Not sick like Matt, but I have the most awkward sunburn ever: my forhead and scalp. I look like I’m constantly angry….
And K- (not to bring this back up, but) I completely agree and give mad props for your standing up. I always hate it too when people pop in here and bitch about Matt not being around enough…geez, he’s just one person. And it’s not that I want us to be like a reclusive click, but people should be a little more understanding of “how things work” and that he’s gone for awhile sometimes. The worst to me are the ones that post “Is Matt quiting? Is he dead?” or whatever like two days after a recent post…no offense to anyone -not really- but come on….and K-, I hope I never incur your wrath :P And people that asked if he died, look at what you did to him with your bad karma thoughts…shame shame….
Anywho, I used to look foward to Weird Al and (I’m okay with saying) Michael Jackson videos like they were Christmas when I was a kid. But favorite video of all time? I’ll have to think on that one; it’s a toughy…but I know I watched f’n ‘Sledgehammer’ like it was the greatest thing in the history of man whenever it came on.
Also, I will join the I-Pod nation today…my old Dell MP3 player finally retired; we had a great run. But my non-conformist side is screaming at me. First it was the MySpace and now the IPod. What’s next? Facebook? Fergie CDs? American Idol voting? Starbucks? I hope I can keep my individuality intact….

Favorite videos? Well, it is nice to see so many Smashing Pumpkins fans on here! They were/are one of my most loved groups ever- 1979 and Today would be my favorite Pumpkins videos.
Aside from the Pumpkins, I also love “Island in the Sun” by weezer, “real love” by The Beatles and that one by Radiohead…where everyone is laying on the ground…I am drawing a blank.
“November Rain” by GnR too, of course.

My favorite music video may just be “You Can Call Me Al” by Paul Simon. That’s the first one that comes to mind. I also have to give props to Foo Fighters’ “Big Me” with all the Mentos parodies back to back. That was really different in its time. As for Weird Al, I’m partial to his “Eat It” video because I appreciate that he had the same principle dancers from Michael Jackson’s video, which made it extra funny. Also, if I’m flipping past CMT and Travis Tritt’s “Tell Me I Was Dreaming” is on, I have to stop. It’s like a TV movie wrapped up in four minutes, complete with dialogue. (”Congratulations Mac, you have a beautiful, healthy little girl” “What about Annie?” “We lost her, Mac, I’m sorry.”) So much drama it should have won an Emmy!
Funniest for all the wrong reasons was N*Sync’s (I never remember just where that asterisk goes) “Drive Myself Crazy” where they’re singing sincerely in straight jackets. So bizarre. I heard they caught a lot of flak for that from mental health organizations. I don’t think I’ve watched many videos since then.

Lori - Great video! “Big Me” completely slipped my mind. Honourable mention goes to “Southern California” by Ash (as seen on Beavis and Butthead). Any video that consists soley of a guy on fire running the streets is A-OKAY with me!Anyway.. there should be a X-Entertainment myspace group. If there isn’t already! If there is.. someone should put up a link!
I’m glad Lori said Paul Simon because the MTV video anthem has to be Me and Julio down by the Schoolio! “I’m on my way” *come now people, you know the words* “I don’t know where I’m goin” *join in anytime now* “I’m on my way” *Everyone all together now* “Me and Julio down by the schoolyard” Breath of fresh air like eating organic baby carrots at Saturday Market!

My favorite music video is “I Want to Break Free” by Queen, but that’s only because they’re in drag for half the video and the other half is insane avant garde crap… you’d ha
