05/10/2007: Spider-Man Pringles! Spider-Man Gushers!

I haven’t seen Spider-Man 3 yet, freely admitting that I’ve become a loser who shuns the epicness of the big screen and waits for things to come out on DVD.  But, to say that the movie hasn’t touched my life would be a lie, for without it, I would never have eaten a “Alter-Ego” flavored Pringle.  Something like that.

The film’s promotional blitz was really one for the books — it’s been as awesome and as everywhere as any other film’s blitz in history.  Example: A short while back, countless public facilities in and around Peter Parker’s hometown of NYC celebrated the movie in a thousand different ridiculous ways, from simple mask-making art sessions to a wacky spider exhibit at the Museum of Natural History.  I really should’ve gone to that, because I love spiders, and because the Museum of Natural History is my best shot at finding a new rock pencil now that the Nature Company’s gone kaput.  Sophia’s telling me to digress.

Amid, or among, or amidst the toys, television ads and vaguely connected live spider exhibits is a simpler form of Spider-Marketing: Food tie-ins!  Many, many food tie-ins!  From webby fruit snacks to spider soda, Spider-Man fans can eat and drink three courses of their hero for a week straight without ever getting a repeat menu.

I’ve gathered at least a dozen different Spidey foods, but I only have enough energy left to write about two of them.  Tonight: Pringles and Gushers.  Tomorrow: Slurpees and Cheese Nips and stuff.

Spider-Man can now be credited as one of the few superheroes to have their own Pringles flavor.  While all of the Pringles varieties have Spidey’s face on the tubes, only one goes all the way with a custom flavor: “Alter-Ego Salsa.”  The name doesn’t make much sense, but I think I’m just spouting sour grapes because my letter to Pringles HQ pitching “Sandman & Vinegar” was returned unopened.

There’s also a Spider-Man-themed-version-of Pringles “Prints,” those being chips with wacky crap printed on them in edible blue lettering.  If you thought eating Pringles was fun before, just wait until you experience eating trivia questions about Aunt May.  In fact, if you do try them, I strongly suggest calling a buddy and crunching loudly over the phone, prompting the obvious question to pave the way for the most awesome answer ever given to any question in the history of sought knowledge.

You: Hey buddy… (crunch crunch crunch) …what’s going down tonight?
Friend: Can’t hear you…what are you eating?
You: Trivia questions about Aunt May.

I wish Gushers weren’t so terribly unhealthy, because they are terribly terrific and I need some kind of nutritional justification if I’m really going to move forward with my motion to replace our nation’s salad course with a new Gushers course.  Sadly, pound for pound, you can’t each much shittier than this.

The Spider-Man 3 Gushers are primarily red and blue, but they throw a bunch of purple ones in the mix for reasons I’m still trying to understand.  I guess they’re meant to represent Spider-Man’s black costume.  Whenever junk food wants to look black, it usually ends up looking purple.  Junk food can do a lot of things, but it can never truly be black.  Just another of the cosmic mysteries you and I hope to have cleared up when we go to Heaven and get to ask God any three questions.

Damn…spellchecker says that “epicness” isn’t a real word.  Oh well.  Tonight it is.

Epicness for President!

I was shopping for a Mom’s Day gift for my mom at Bed Bath & Beyond (which no regular man ever ventures into without a wife/girlfriend and/or coupon), and saw Pringles Prints trivia for both NYC and Philly. Philly. Heh.

Also, when I went to see Spider-Man 3 tonight I saw the trailers for:

Shrek The 3rd = No.
Pirates 3 = Wow. Just…wow.

Chestnuts roasted by Invader Norbert @ 05/10/2007 1:02 AM EDT

I agree with the Gushers comment.  While delicious and fun to eat (never thought I’d have fun eating something, but hey!), they are terrible for you.  Sucks too when I’m trying to eat healthier and lose weight.  Are they at least filled with Spider-Man tasting goodness, so its like you’re eating Spider-Man’s blood?  Then I’ll buy some.

Chestnuts roasted by Myke @ 05/10/2007 1:15 AM EDT

Man…I remember freaking out when Gushers debuted.

Finally! A chance to stick fruit snacks in my teeth and have them juice out as if I’m a Vampire fresh from feeding.

Chestnuts roasted by Colin @ 05/10/2007 1:23 AM EDT

Matt your missing nothing by not seeing spidey 3,even George Lucas said it was below average

Chestnuts roasted by Pat @ 05/10/2007 1:42 AM EDT

Gushers are best when you chew the whole pack at once!

Chestnuts roasted by Phayke @ 05/10/2007 1:47 AM EDT

I used to be addicted to Gushers and anything else with a gooey or liquidy center, like wax bottles and that gum that had flat Dr. Pepper or 7-up inside it.

Chestnuts roasted by fistpittingnork @ 05/10/2007 2:02 AM EDT

I also went to Spidey 3 today, and not only did I see the trailers for Pirates III and Shrek the Third, I also saw a trailer for what appears to be an extremely drugged-out film set in the 1960’s where people….er, well, words fail me. You’ll see for yourself…it just gets weirder and weirder.

X-E in PA! Gabe and Tycho mention Matt in their latest podcast but acknowledge it has been a while since they talked to him. As in 2002 “a while.”

I want pics of the edible trivia chips. The packaging isn’t enough when you mention something like that.

There are mini Spiderman 3 drinks that you can buy in 12 packs at the local Wal-Mart. They have blueberry, green apple, and orange. The case and cans look pretty cool.

Chestnuts roasted by Matt(#2?) @ 05/10/2007 2:23 AM EDT

Make that blue raspberry, not blueberry.

Chestnuts roasted by Matt(#2?) @ 05/10/2007 2:27 AM EDT

I agree with Pat: your not missing much; wait until video…

This whole topic reminds me of how little food I have in my house right now….I really should go buy groceries.  But once I do, it all goes bad (milk, bread, etc.) before I ever get to finish it…which feels like a waste….hmmmm….late night thought patterns….

Chestnuts roasted by Shuanfu @ 05/10/2007 2:29 AM EDT

Does your Wal-Mart have the huge aisles full of just Spiderman and Shrek stuff? It’s just insane, their faces are printed on everything short of tampons and toilet paper. I haven’t seen Spidey 3 either, because my friends wanted to go at some weird time and I didn’t want to deal with the one bawling her eyes out in the theater(which she did). @_@ I’m thinking I may go see it after class one day, but I probably can’t since I’m broke as fuck from spending all my money on old Sears Wish Books and special lipstick to give me huge Angelina Jolie lips.

I wish I didn’t check this out and end up reading about how there’s more star wars related stuff on the way. I like the series very much but I want it to die so that I don’t have to buy anymore dvds.

Alter Ego Salsa?  That’s the best snack food name… EVER.

Chestnuts roasted by Review the World @ 05/10/2007 6:18 AM EDT

What about the creepiness of that commercial?

“I webbed you…that means you get the apartment.”

Is that a nationwide Spiderman tie-in, or is that only a local thing?

Chestnuts roasted by Thorzul @ 05/10/2007 7:54 AM EDT

I love the new Alter Ego Salsa Pringles!  I was fearful of overpowering spice.  But, they are dee-liciously light ‘n scrumptuous IMO.

Off topic:  There’s a new Pepsi out - “Pepsi Summer Mix”.  Claims to be a tropical fruit flavored Pepsi.  I  had one last night in the 20 oz.  2 out of 4 stars.

Chestnuts roasted by JillS @ 05/10/2007 8:03 AM EDT

I hope the new snack food is better than the movie, although I would recommend going to see it just so you can exclaim afterwards, “Wow, it really could be as bad as some critics said it was.”  I remember sitting in row three thinking, “How bad could it be?  It’s Spider-man.”  My answer is, it’s so bad that the audience actually laughed at four or five parts of the movie.  By the end, I was really enjoying it, not cause it’s a great movie, but because it got so weird at times that it was “ha ha” bad.  Go see it.  Do a review, please.

Chestnuts roasted by John @ 05/10/2007 8:34 AM EDT

Thorzul- don’t know where local is for you, but they have been showing it in the Wash. DC area. Creepy.

I saw Spidey 3 at the drive-ins last Sunday. We sat outside the car with a radio in front of us, and my fiance’s trunk open behind us. Surround sound outside…It was awesome.

Those Alter-Ego Salsa chips seem like they’d be extremely gross to me…The only food I like salsa flavored is actual salsa.

Hey Junk food thats black

Licorice Twirlers.

Is it me or is the birth of Gushers go back to Fun Fruit fruit snacks..  Man I used to love those!

Chestnuts roasted by MJ @ 05/10/2007 9:25 AM EDT

Thorzul,

We get the commercial here too in the NW Louisiana area.  I think it is a nation wide comcast commercial.

I don’t want to think about Aunt May when I’m eating Pringles.

Chestnuts roasted by Jedoc @ 05/10/2007 9:29 AM EDT

I had that rock pencil.  I got it on vacation in Arizonia when I was young.
My son loves gushers.  Although he openly admits he has a stomach ache after eating them EVERY TIME.
I have a sister who spends summers in WA state as a park ranger.  She called me the other day from a 7-11.  I asked her if they had the slurpee cups and she said yes, but would not buy one.  Meanie.
The fake quitting post from last night  (purposely) reminded me of that post ages ago with the tigers, Matt do you ever read old blogs and totally forget having written them?

Chestnuts roasted by kb @ 05/10/2007 10:10 AM EDT

i got some spiderman fruit rollups that claim to tattoo your tongue.  i can’t resist them long enough to see if the tattoo works.  it’s like dangling beef in front of a starving dog.

Chestnuts roasted by wmx @ 05/10/2007 10:17 AM EDT

Um, I think that Spiderman apartment commercial is HILARIOUS. Maybe I just like creepy.

I havent seen a Spiderman movie since the first one. Call me a beeyotch, but Tobey and Kirsten are not stars in my book.

I’m looking more forward to seeing 28 Weeks Later this weekend than any summer blockbuster. Except Pirates, because Johnny Depp is pretty no matter what he does to himself.

Happy birthday K- my darling.

And glad to hear from you Matt; you could write a three sentence blog entry that tells us what you wore today and most of us would be satisfield. Dont stress.

Glad ya back Matt, and in form, because Spidey stuff is the best. So many Spidey goodies, its great for us quasi adults sense of wonder and excitement, but bad for our health and wallets! =/

Venom in the comics and TV show (1994 one, of course) is kind of a dark blue/dark purple/black color, so they might have just gotten lazy with the dye. A couple weeks ago I got some Spider-Man popcorn but it wasn’t that good. =P

Chestnuts roasted by Ben @ 05/10/2007 11:28 AM EDT

Dollar Tree has a 4 pack of generic bubble tape, we’ll call “blubble tape”, that’s Marvel themed.  The gum is probably horrible, but each blubble tape dispenser comes in a different color with a different character sticker in the center of each.

The one I was looking at, not sure why I didn’t buy it, had a red dispenser with Spiderman, a yellow with Wolvereine, some random color I forgot with some random character I also forgot, and a neon pink with anohter Spiderman sticker on it.

Who wouldn’t want their very own neon pink Spiderman blubble tape dispenser?

Happy Birthday K!

What do you mean Gushers are terrible for you? Aren’t they a great source for vitamin C? That’s what I tell myself every morning before work.

Shuanfu: Thanks for that Transformer clip. Just as I remember. Chee ooo Ahhh oooo kichee eee.

Thanks Everyone!!! The Wii is supposed to get here today, but yesterday was pretty decent. Having a Wii & D party at some point, since we still haven’t seen Pick of Destiny :(

Bed Bath & Beyond (which no regular man ever ventures into without a wife/girlfriend and/or coupon)

BS, I love BB&B. Then again, I’m emo, so you know ;)

Who is George Lucas to call Spiderman 3 “silly”?  This from the writer of such gems as Episodes 1&2come on.

I love Ep. II, but even I agree with this. I will see Spidy 3 at some point before this week is out.

Oh, and Nork, I vaguely remember calling the Giant Hershey’s Strawberry Syrup back during a “one thing you could have from X-E” survey. Sorries, but  I gots dibs!!

Chestnuts roasted by K- @ 05/10/2007 12:26 PM EDT

Spidey 3: The Three-ening wasn’t too bad.  I think the idea behind the “emo” sequence with Peter enjoying his Symbiote-induced attitude is, no matter what, he’s still every bit a dork he was before, just with a Roxbury Guy hairdo.  I kept expecting to hear “What Is Love” with the head bob and all.  It was pretty funny up until the incident with MJ.  The whole theater got quiet at that moment.  That was when you remember that the alien suit is not a good thing.  Wish they could have used the original Secret Wars origin, though.  But with the FF movies, Iron Man in preproduction, And Doctor Doom probably wanting the whole thing to be filmed in Latveria, it just couldn’t happen.  Sandman was pretty cool.  And Penny Marko is the spiffiest name in movies right now.

Spider-man spider-man,
on the front of a pringles can!
Swinging foward, swingign back,
landing on a box of a gushers snack,
LOOK OUT, HERE COMES SPIDER-MAN!

Is he strong? listen bud,
he is probably displayed on an idaho spud,
and take a look, over head,
he is on a loaf of wonder bread!
LOOK OUT, ITS SPIDER-MAN!

In the chill of the night
at the scene of a 7-11 or grocery store,
you think you’ve seen it all, right?
but nope,
his face is on even more!

SPIDER-MAN, SPIDER-MAN, YOUR FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD SPIDER-MAN,
WEALTH AND FAME, HE IGNORES,
TO BE ON A BOX OF QUAKER SMORES!

to him, life is grand,
on a box, a can
or a cracker stand,
where ever there is product brand,
you’ll find the face of SPIDER-MAN

This isn’t Spiderman 3 related, but at the grocery store today I saw that there’s a limited edition Pepsi flavor out called Summer Mix.  The cans say is a mix of tropical flavors, but really it tastes kind of like Pepsi with lime but different.

Chestnuts roasted by BrightNoah @ 05/10/2007 3:37 PM EDT

I picked up some Spider-Man tie-in toaster pastries.  Nothing too life changing, but the frosting packets have a sweet looking spider logo on them in blood red and I guess you can make spider webs on your toasted goodness.

Chestnuts roasted by Mad Cow @ 05/10/2007 3:56 PM EDT

Noah,

I bought a 20oz of that crap last week and I don’t think I like it too much.  I’ll throw it in the same pile as Code Red Mountain Dew, I like it enough to drink it if it’s offered to me, but not likely I’ll ever pay to drink it again.

Pepsi Spice is something I wish they’d bring back for the holidays, I rather liked it.

My boyfriend really knows he’s in for it when I do that. :-)

Chestnuts roasted by DeeJay @ 05/10/2007 4:11 PM EDT

Ah, Pepsi Holiday Spice. I’m sure we all know how I feel about that one. I must say, the Summer Mix was okay, but not something I’d want in anything more than a 20-oz. dose at a time.

I actually just commented to say Happy Belated B-day K-!!, but I had to once again profess my love for Pepsi Holiday Spice.

Chestnuts roasted by Nicole @ 05/10/2007 4:17 PM EDT

You want ruined?  Little Brother screwed up Batman Begins for me by mentioning when him and his wife went to see it the second time, as soon as those ninjas attacked Bruce, Sister-in-law said “You’re in for it now, mith-ter!” like that one guy in Kung Pow!, and now I can’t stop saying it at that same moment.

Or, even since the time I read somewhere someone filled in during the 60’s Spider-Man theme:
“Is he strong?
Listen, bud:
He’s got a radioactive pud!”

It’s good to pass these kinds of things on, so one doesn’t suffer alone.

Chestnuts roasted by kingklash @ 05/10/2007 4:47 PM EDT

I demand satisfaction, therefore I honk.

But since yesterday was your day and I didn’t wish you the best, I bow out gracefully and am at your mercy.  Happy late birthday!

Hope you enjoy the Wii.  Stay away from Virtual Console, it’s a money pit!!  I’ve signed away half of this years earnings on VC games.

Super Metroid
Simon’s Quest

and just for shits and giggles (because I still have my original, complete-in-box), is Final Fantasy I, IV, and VI up there?

Chestnuts roasted by K @ 05/10/2007 5:05 PM EDT

I saw Spidey 3 on IMAX yesterday.  I liked it, but I also agree with everyone’s problems with it.  Too many villains, too much Peter Parker angst, Topher Grace was miscast, and Tobey being “dark” by acting like John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever was laughable.

Pringles has been doing alot of special edition flavors lately and they’re always great.  My favorite one is guacomole.

Off-Topic: Today I spotted one of those mailboxes that the post office made over to look like R2-D2.  It looked cool.

Chestnuts roasted by JLAJRC @ 05/10/2007 5:17 PM EDT

I dig the new spidey movie, but I don’t want it tainting my Pringles cans. The Gushers promotion doesn’t really affect me much. I don’t eat too many sweets and even spiderman’s not gonna make me want to start now.

But keep spearheading the make-up-words campaign. I’ll support you. My favorite one is redonkeylips. I use it frequently in conversation.

Matt, you haven’t seen Spidey 3 yet? What the dill-o?Screw all the lameass trying to tell you to wait to video, trust me, it’s like the Star Wars films:You simply cannot get the impact of this movie fully if you haven’t seen it on the big screen. The action sequences are some of the best put to film, and, not only that, just like the first two films it has a great story that’s as faithful to the comics as two and a half hours can be(yeah, no Secret Wars black costumume origin, boo-fuckin hoo purists, its based more on the cartoon’s version). So, in other words, see it, because the naysayers have no valid argument whatsoever.

there are programs that will save every link from any site, no matter how big it is, then you can read it anytime, even put it on a cd, because it will be on your harddrive in html format.

ofcourse, a site this big will probably not fit on e cd, who knows how many gigs of information exists here?

I think the reason food is almost never pure black is because you’re not supposed to eat black things. Usually, food is only black when its either burned, dirty or spoiled.

Chestnuts roasted by RewolfJ @ 05/10/2007 9:05 PM EDT

Link to the Past and Ocarina are up, Super Metroid is not up but I’m sure it will be soon. I don’t think Simon’s Quest is. The final fantasies you can pretty kiss any chance of them coming goodbye. Square isn’t into the VC services and would rather just port their games onto GBA, PSP and remake them on DS (you know they’re doing to 4 what they did to 3, and 4 for the GBA came out what, a year ago?)

Chestnuts roasted by dohopoki @ 05/10/2007 10:22 PM EDT

I’ve got a survey idea. Here’s the situation. I was at Target last night and they had Kingdom Hearts II for $9.99. I wracked my brain to figure out who I knew who had played the original, but hadn’t bought II yet (besides Squee). And I just couldn’t come up with anyone.

So, what is the Best Deal you were NEVER able to take advantage of?

Chestnuts roasted by K- @ 05/10/2007 10:23 PM EDT

Yeah, I do know about the IV remake, Doho and it only makes me hate Square Enix more. I thought maybe they’d like to take EVERY opportunity to squeeze money out of the franchise that they could :P They’ve already decided to port I&II to PSP, like you said, why not make money off of Wii owners as well?

Yeah, I think it was just last year that IV got ported to GBA. I wasn’t planning on getting those on VC, that was just out of curiosity. The rest I want, and Ocarina is SOLD as soon as I finally get set up.

Chestnuts roasted by K- @ 05/10/2007 10:30 PM EDT

I can’t escape the onslaught of Spider-Man food promotions because I work in a grocery store, but I’m not really interested. I went to see the first film when it came out with some guy friends. I thought James Franco was cute but otherwise wasn’t impressed, to the point where I still haven’t bothered seeing the second one. I’m not really much of a Marvel Comics fangirl, anyway. Last summer’s “Superman” blitz made me happier.

As a musical enthusiast, “Hairspray” is my big summer film. Also may at least rent “Pirates of the Carribean: At World’s End.” I was more confused than anything by “Dead Man’s Chest,” but Johnny Depp makes such an awesome pirate, I’m willing to give this series another chance.

I’ve never had Gushers, and likely never will. For one thing, I’m on Weight Watchers. For another thing, fruit snacks of any kind have the annoying habit of getting stuck between my teeth for days. I like Pringles, but unless that “Alter Ego Salsa” comes low-fat, I won’t be trying it anytime soon.

Simon’s Quest isn’t up yet, but original Castlevania is.

Citygirl, K pretty much answered it.  On a few articles though, the “next article” was a broken link that would actually go back 1-4 articles, so in that case I would just type the next number into my URL bar.

Ok, I finally saw Blades of Glory with the girlfriend and I have to say, it was pretty funny. We were lucky that we were the only 2 people in the theater, and she took the advantage of being vocal, mostly at Will Arnett (who’s lacking male genitals as she called it) and Amy Poehlor (who wants one). We had a great time.

Also, I saw a slightly better trailer for Shrek The Third, but between those 2 trailers, I think I saw the whole movie.

I also saw the Pirates 3 trailer again…Still wow. Speaking of which, we also watched Pirates 2 earlier (my first time). I thought it was good, and probably had good timing of seeing it now as I know that there’s a sequel coming out, as I do agree that the ending does leave a lot open.

I really liked Spidey 3, and I’m looking forward to more X-E style overviews of Spidey foodstuffs…I’ve got one of the Slurpee cups sitting on my desk right now.  Last post I commented with a picture of the French Spider-Man Burger (which I got from Peter David’s website), and now here’s the commercial via the magic of youtube!

Invader Norbert, is that a reference to the Angry Beavers?

So I finally tried a PayDay Avalanche candy bar.  I must say, I rikey.  Same thing as a Baby Ruth except it has carmel center instead of nougat.

Just thought I’d share that with you people, help get your weekend started off with unmanagable excitement.

Chestnuts roasted by fistpittingnork @ 05/11/2007 10:19 AM EDT

fist - that’s probably about as exciting as my weekend will get.  Thanks for the report.

Well, I’ve finally found a way to justify my love for dark, carbonated, soft-drinks. Diet Coke Plus!!!!!
Don’t know if it’s being released nationally, but it has arrived here in SoCal. It tastes exactly like Diet Coke but it’s actually GOOD for you! It’s infused with vitamins and minerals. Plus the can looks pretty cool!
Thank God for the chemists who put this elixir together!
I’m so glad that you’re back to blogging on a more regular basis. Thank the heavens for Matt!

I drank Diet Coke plus, seeing that Diet Coke is a mainstay in my life and has been for years.  It did not taste like Diet Coke and the vitamins and minerals made me feel icky.  I don’t want those in my junk food, nor my carbonated drinks.

Chestnuts roasted by meepy @ 05/11/2007 12:06 PM EDT

I just read the little ditties you can never forget, kingklash, and now I suffer for all eternity with you.  Radioactive pud, indeed.

Chestnuts roasted by meepy @ 05/11/2007 12:10 PM EDT

Yama, it sure is! The “Invader” part comes from Invader Zim.

The name’s been dying down as I don’t register to more sites with that name these days, opting for a new one related to my frat nickname Galileo.

On topic, Diet Coke Plus is here on LI too, in both normal looking cans, 12 packs of said cans, as well as the cans that look like energy drinks.

Chestnuts roasted by Invader Norbert @ 05/11/2007 12:17 PM EDT

Yeah Jessica I aim to please.  If you desire more information on said PayDay bar, direct all questions to my myspace.

For now I’m going to eat my Spiderman Handi-Snack.

Another food that’s ‘black’.. Black Crows. However after seeing a special on the food network about candy, come to find out… they are actually green. Go figure.

Chestnuts roasted by Alyssa @ 05/11/2007 2:47 PM EDT

Green is the new black.

Chestnuts roasted by Jessica Marie @ 05/11/2007 2:53 PM EDT

Well there’s always black jelly beans and black licorice.  Bleh.

Chestnuts roasted by meepy @ 05/11/2007 3:01 PM EDT

And green Jager?

Chestnuts roasted by meepy @ 05/11/2007 3:02 PM EDT

What’s with the Diet Coke Plus I saw at the grocery store last night?  Soda is not supposed to have any nutritional value whatsoever and Coke’s gone and screwed that up by adding “vitamins and minerals” to it!

Chestnuts roasted by DeeJay @ 05/11/2007 4:09 PM EDT

Saw Spiderman 3.  The best part was Bruce Campbell, lol.  I was very uncomfortable during the “Roxbury Spidey” sequence when he was all dancing around, with the hair and the clothes, and all.  I couldn’t decide if I was supposed to laugh or what.  Overall though I liked the movie, but I don’t know anything about the original comics so most people’s complaints went right over my head.

VERY IMPORTANT DORITO NEWS.  Everybody go to the store right now and look for X13D experimental flavor Doritos.  Do it now!!! They are in a black and white bag with no flavor name.  You are apparently supposed to try them and then tell the company what you think they should be called.  If you want to experience the full effect, do not find out what they are supposed to taste like - just eat one.  I’m serious, go do it.  I got mine at Walmart.

Chestnuts roasted by Lilly @ 05/11/2007 5:06 PM EDT

That Spidey burger looks all nasty…I don’t think I want cheese with the proportionate strength of a spider..and it’s got buns (as in butts) on it’s bun…icky…

Chestnuts roasted by Shuanfu @ 05/11/2007 5:07 PM EDT

I am now curious as to just how bad Gushers are for you. Are they any worse than regular fruit snacks? Worse than candy? Are they actually made from ground-up puppies? I must know.

This guy reviewed the Pringles plus Spider man soda that is nutritious? Why are they ruining soda? It is suppose to be bad for you. That’s why it tastes so good.

He gives entertaining reviews but I prefer Matts’ reviews.

Chestnuts roasted by Bill @ 05/11/2007 9:01 PM EDT

Adding nutrients to Coke is like molding tofu or nuts into a burger patty.  You’re just fooling yourself, but not very well. And it still tastes gross.

Chestnuts roasted by Jessica Marie @ 05/11/2007 9:13 PM EDT

I didn’t notice any horrifying taste difference in Coke Plus cuz of the minerals. But maybe that’s cuz I eat a lot of strawberry and hematite smoothies.

Chestnuts roasted by Mystie @ 05/11/2007 10:47 PM EDT

And I thought the whole marketing thing for movies was getting out of hand. If you think that the Spiderman stuff is odd wait until you see all that Shrek stuff plastered all over the place. I am personally refusing to buy anything with the Shrek image on it (i have seen the first movie and part of the second, and the series is incredibly overhyped), and it is becoming harder and harder to live with all of this stuff that eventually it’s going to get to the point where I’ll have to actually buy something with it.

Like that time on the Simpsons when the family went to Blockoland and Homer built an apple made of Ham Blocks.

Also I tried McD’s “new” Mint Mudbath Shake…Yep, Mint! IT’S THE SHAMROCK SHAKE!! IT’S BACK, BITCH!! Then I realized that I don’t like mint flavored things…so I won’t be drinking it again. (my coworkers at my job even forced me to throw the remains of it out becuase it grossed them all out so much)

I heartily approve of Diet Coke Plus.  I haven’t tried it, and I don’t actually like diet soda, but it brings me one step closer to the day when I’ll be able to drink three sodas a day and have all the vital nutrition I need to survive without all that pesky eating food.  Huge time-saver.

Chestnuts roasted by Jedoc @ 05/12/2007 7:25 AM EDT

I have yet to see the new diet coke.  I will probably try it once, but I really don’t like diet soda.  I did see an ad for it in a magazine.  The can design is cool, as far as can designs go.

And gushers are unhealthy because they are made of high fructose corn syrup and food coloring and artificials flavors because apparently the fruit they put in them isn’t sufficient enough to make them taste fruity.  Oh, and puppies.

Chestnuts roasted by kb @ 05/12/2007 9:59 AM EDT

This is totally unrelated, Matt, but have you seen that they’ve come out with another new Pepsi? It’s Pepsi Summer Slam or something like that, and it’s got tropical flavors. It sounds kind of like something from the Pepsi Wild Bunch of the past. Didn’t know if you’d tried it yet.

Went to McD’s last night.  Boughtmy usual Big Mac Value Meal.  And bought a Shrek glass.  While the main portraiture of the green guy is nice, for a long-time fan of old-school chintz like myself, the surrounding art is what caught my attention.  Very reminiscent of the printing on promo glassware from the 70’s.  Of course, now I’ll have to go back again and again to complete the set!  Damn you, Ray Kroc!  Thou hast managed to sink thy claws into me again!  I shall never find my self free of thine deep-fried goodness!  Even though I speak ill of Melting Grimace, I shall always find myself at the feet of the Golden Arches.  I am afraid.  Afraid that I am Ronald’s bitch….

Oh, well.  Pass the fries!

Just got back from Spidy. I likey, but I’ve got a friend who is apparently going to give me a talking to about why I shouldn’t :P

Emo Parker is freakin’ hilarious. Has it occured to anyone that it was SUPPOSED TO BE FUNNY? I was busting a gut.

Loved THC as Sandman, loved the ‘cooking’ scene, loved Ursula, loved quite a lot.

***SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT***

I’m not sure if I buy Eric saying ‘I like being evil, it makes me HAPPY!’ Maybe if he said ‘I like being a smarmy prick.’ But I sadly can’t shake my love of that goofy little boy and I’m not displeased.

***END OF SPOILERS***

I never read Spiderman comics, and I can’t change that now :( But know that I respect every dislike people may have. You know I simultaneously love and hate the X-films and would never tread on someone’s right to bitch :D

Thinking about what kingklash said about Dancin’ Peter…

SPOILERS!  SPOILERS!

I’m not sure if it was intentional, but if they decided to throw in the dance scenes before he hit Mary Jane to throw us off-guard, it worked wonderfully.  I don’t think anyone in the theater was expecting that one.

I just hope that that actually was intentional on the part of the creative staff.  Raimi had better explain himself on the commentary track… >_>

NO MORE SPOILERS!  NO MORE SPOILERS!

Overall, I liked the movie.  It’s definitely the weakest of the three, and I think they’ve severed all ties to any storylines whatsoever from the comics, but I enjoyed it, cornball lines and all.

Diet Coke Plus!!! Yes, I’ve been drinking it for a week now and I’ve never felt better!! I feel, younger, leaner, more energetic. Next time I’m in court I’ll reject the Bible, as I’ll have a firm grip on a Diet Coke Plus can as I solemnly swear to tell the truth.
You doubters out there, just don’t know what’s good for you until you try it. Maybe I’ll go Morgan Spurlock and film myself for 30 days as I have 3 Diet Coke Plus’ a day. Then we’ll see what kind of super-human being I morph into, perhaps then you incredulous fools will believe.
My favorite movie endorsed product of all time is now Rice Krispies Treats, boasting “Shrek-nificent Color - Same Great Taste”. I absolutely love the mass of green gooey chunks of rice. The drawback is how my pearly whites suddenly turn green and when I’m done scarffing down one of these babies it makes me look as if I’ve been fellating a Martian.
I love Shrek and can’t wait to see the new movie. I picked up a first edition hardcover of the classic book on which the movies are based. Shrek was much uglier in his original form, and Princess Fiona never took human form, she was a monster the whole way through. There’s no amount of booze in the world that would make me sleep with her. The movie version of Fiona is hot!!! I’d almost throw Jessica Rabbit aside for her.
