Just caught that Dead Silence trailer. I know the movie’s going to be awful, but dang if dummies aren’t some of the scariest things in the world. If I wasn’t so terrified of it, I’d go put on Magic right now…

To Squee4242 and Bill, it’s nice to know I’m not the only one who has what will now be known as the “Irrational Front Teeth being Knocked Out in a Bloody Mess Fear”

Chestnuts roasted by jvicious @ 03/11/2007 12:40 AM

The window in my bedroom is level with my bed, and to this day I will not sleep with the blind open. It is permanently down, 24/7. I’ve contemplated painting the glass and bricking the thing up entirely.

Chestnuts roasted by K- @ 03/11/2007 12:49 AM

I actually have 2 buddies of mine celebrating Bdays today, one is his 21st and had a family party and one is currently pledging my frat and spent the day with his pledge class in NYC. (just like I did a year ago), so Happy Bday, Jim!

Congrats, Special K! Is it sad that I’ve been constantly been listening to the Flogging Molly songs on your myspace for the last week? At first I was bored, but now…they’re stuck in my head.

I still need to go to an A&W too, I heard they brought back their own Fish Sandwich just for Lent and is another stop on my Challenge. Fortunatley for LJS, the only pure one on LI is right across the street from my college, so that’s good timing right there.

Fears? Needles, as in syringes & tattoo needles. Ick.

The window level with the bed thing is also a freak out as well. One time I awoke early on a Saturday to see this deranged looking mofo looking right into my bedroom. Turns out it was one of the apartment janitor yahoos there to paint the outside of the building.

Chestnuts roasted by jvicious @ 03/11/2007 12:55 AM

Fears, oh fears. I have this really great panic disorder (runs in the family) so I have a ton of really irrational fears.
Mostly it boils down to not being in control, but I label it as a fear of puking. Also I’m afraid of getting blood drawn and needles in general.

My husband is afraid of the teeth thing too – he has nightmares in which his teeth all fall out. Any of you tooth people have that nightmare?

Chestnuts roasted by Jessica Marie @ 03/11/2007 12:58 AM

Norbert: The smell of rubbing alcohol makes my arm and ass ache. It’s the whole anticipation of a nice, big injection. Hate that.

I’m really painting myself to be a big wuss, huh. Oh well. Everybody fears something.

Chestnuts roasted by Bill @ 03/11/2007 12:59 AM

Jessica Marie, I have that “teeth falling out” nightmare all the time, so tell your husband he’s not alone.

Chestnuts roasted by jvicious @ 03/11/2007 1:02 AM

I have the “teeth falling out” dreams too!!

Chestnuts roasted by K- @ 03/11/2007 1:13 AM

As a child I actually fell face first on to the concrete and knocked out some teeth leaving my mouth a bloody mess. Oddy I don’t really fear it anymore.

On a dental related note however, I had some teeth pulled and they put me under. Afterwards my mom took me to a Fred Myer Pharmacy to get my drugs. When we got there I ran ahead since I was still loopy only when I tried the automatic door it wouldn’t work. So when my mom catches up I’m mumbling to some lady about how the dentist stole my lips.

This is a remnant of when my mom said you had to smile to get automatic doors open when I was really young. So my irrational fear is people stealing my lips evidently.

Chestnuts roasted by mrjayberry @ 03/11/2007 1:19 AM

I’ve never had the “teeth falling out” dream.

I do have a strange fear, though..I have to sleep with the bedroom door closed. I can’t sleep with it open, even when I’m alone in the house…

Chestnuts roasted by Cameron T. @ 03/11/2007 1:22 AM

The whole “teeth falling out” dream thing must be some sort of collective fear because I’ve talked to a lot of people who have had the same dream. I can’t help thinking that it represents some widespread sub conscience fear that all humans have in the face of the prospect of growing old and dying or a reflection of poor dental habits that we share as a nation.

Chestnuts roasted by jvicious @ 03/11/2007 1:23 AM

Yup, the classic teeth falling out nightmare…Apparently it’s fairly common…the best dream interpretation I’ve read is that teeth represent words…I usually either dream they’re rotten and dropping out of my head, or that I smack into something and CRACK! I’m starting to wonder if maybe I just grind my teeth and it makes it’s way into my subconcious XD
On refresh, jvicious may be on to something.

Sometimes I’ll have dreams that I’m driving and I can’t stop at a light. And I’m not going unusually fast or anything, the brakes just aren’t working.

I’ve come to realize that I have them when I feel like I’m losing control of some aspect of my life.

Chestnuts roasted by K- @ 03/11/2007 1:37 AM

I still find it so hard to believe that places like A&W have fish sandwiches some places. The only place with them in my area, except for maybe seafood restaurants like Joey’s Only, is the filet-o-fish….have you ever seen those Japanese fish-burgers? Some of them look really good.

Anyways, like I said, A&W is fucking expensive. For a mooza burger combo, whistle dog, and small fries it was like $16.

Though its not really that weird, I have a fear of mice, though its dwindled a great deal since I had to pluck one from this used Viscount organ I bought. blech.

mrjayberry, great story.

Oh yeah ever since I got in a car accident a few years back sometimes I wake up with a start, having just dreamt that I was about to crash into something.
Don’t you hate when you have a dream that’s just blantant as to why you had it? You know, like you can just pick it apart and know exactly why your brain belched up that particular stuff, and it’s just boring and mundane? For example, when I’m oversleeping, I always dream that I’m getting ready for work, but I can’t pick an outfit or find my shoes, like my brain is trying to tell me there’s something I should be doing instead of sleeping. Lame.

Chestnuts roasted by squee4242 @ 03/11/2007 1:49 AM

Hmm, I don’t have the Teeth Fall Out fear. Good for me, I guess.

Remember to set the clocks forward tonight!

I love the dreams where you are running really fast then trip and at the same time you jerk awake. I think they are called “sleep spindles.”

Jeff M: At my grandmother’s house she has this three foot doll that has been standing infront of the guest bedroom window for the past 40 years. The wear from the sun has bleached it’s face white and turned it’s eyes black. Also some of the hair on the right side of the head has fallen out. It is by far the scariest thing in the world.
I had a dream that it was walking in the hallway and I had to jump over it to escape. After I did I was running down the stairs screaming every obsenity in the book. The bad news is I was also talking in my sleep and my grandmother woke me horrified by my creative mix of the f-word.

Chestnuts roasted by Bill @ 03/11/2007 2:05 AM

Bill, that is good. :D

I’m singing this song from a youtube video where a guy “paints” Ronald McDonald and Morgan Spurlock with ketchup and fries (in the link)..”French Fries, through and through…”

And to stay with the topic, I find most of my dreams too jumbled to have some hidden meaning. Like I’ll be in some line with Phoebe from Friends, and a female Donkey Kong, but not Candy Kong.

I always have this dream where I answer the phone, but I can’t speak, and that actually happened when someone called me while I was sleeping…not interesting, but its something.

Chestnuts roasted by Tutsuro @ 03/11/2007 2:16 AM

Last night I veiwed one of the craziest drunken dancers at a dive bar in my town, and through the goodness of the internet I can show it to all of you, although I feel kinda bad. But, hey if your gonna do that in public I guess you can’t be too ashamed, Anyhow. Here’s the video
Oh, and I am terrified of turbulence, not flying in general, but if there’s turbulence I will have a panic attack.

Chestnuts roasted by kb @ 03/11/2007 2:33 AM

Sleep spindles are spikes in EEG recorded activity (brain waves) during Phase II sleep, Bill.

But I’m not saying that what you’re talking about isn’t also referred to as that, I’ve just never heard them described as such.

Chestnuts roasted by K- @ 03/11/2007 3:02 AM

kb, what an unfortunate character you’ve witnessed. Strange, does she fall on that guy or what?

And how come no-one’s mentioned the title, “asasaisiasi”? After three hours I think I can finally pronounce it.

Chestnuts roasted by Tutsuro @ 03/11/2007 3:03 AM

tutsuro- what was unfortunate was I stopped recording just before the lapdance began.

Chestnuts roasted by kb @ 03/11/2007 3:12 AM

kb, that is almost as good as what I witnessed yesterday: I stopped at the store on the way into work and a very thin ‘man’ was dancing at the bus stop. But just calling it dancing is a disservice to the art he was creating…it was like if Beyonce was not famous but still danced the same way, only at bus stops in the middle of town. He was obviously having a FABULOUS afternoon :)

I feel like I come in too late to SNT now because I’m working again on Friday’s. But at least I enjoy it; I’ve been working “The King & I” for two weeks now and tonight I finally took the time to watch the ‘famous’ Shall We Dance? number….like watching a bit of history for a theatre geek. I also got to go to a little brew-ha hosted by the King of Siam himself tonight…quite an interesting evening all in all…

Oh, and to my fellow DS heads: those of you that are fans of Elite Beat need to get Ouendan (the Japanese original) ASAP…it’s so much fun!

Chestnuts roasted by Shuanfu @ 03/11/2007 3:13 AM

I haven’t touched my DS in more than a month. III is so horrible I can hardly stand it. Job games you may all throw yourselves over a cliff.

III, V, X-2 I’m talking to YOU!
