02/24/2007: SNT.

I can’t decide if I kind of wish it was summer, or kind of wish it was October.  Happy SNT.

Summer!!  No more school!

I’d just like a nice springy mix.

Ghosted by Andy @ 02/24/2007 9:19 PM EST

I say summer.

Sounds unremarkable, but I’m pretty sure I’ve never wanted it to be summer in my life.

Ghosted by Katherine @ 02/24/2007 9:20 PM EST

I wish for autumn.  I also wish for deep winter.  I also wish, strangely, for 2004.

Ghosted by Jemmy @ 02/24/2007 9:20 PM EST

October.  But then October is summer in AZ.  Summer is Hell.

Ghosted by StefanGrey @ 02/24/2007 9:21 PM EST

I just wish it was earlier in the day. I pissed mine away on an Animal Crossing forum.

Summer!!  I hate the cold.

Ghosted by Jeff Mack @ 02/24/2007 9:24 PM EST

All I know is that I’m done with winter. I would rather it be slightly warm. Although I would rather it be September right now, cause that’s when me and the woman will be going on our crazy Disney World trip (which was inspired by your awesome DW review on the site Matt) So yeah, I’m going with September. hell, it’s right before October anyway!

Mine Would have to be  Garden State, my comfort flick, got me through a baaaaaad breakup, i literally dated the devil!!

and for indie actor, hmm, a toss-up between John Cusak and Eternal Sunshine… Jim Carry, actually, that could possibly knock Garden State Out Of The Runnin For First Place Indie Flick

Now Its Your Turn Guys!!

Hope All Is Well In The Land Of SNT!

I’m living summer all year in South FL, So I’m with October. Plus I was hiking on a inner coastal trail and a rattlesnake slithered about 2 feet in front of me. I don’t know how it happened but I miracled myself backwards 10 feet. He f*#c’n curled up and rattled at me. I had to wait forever for him to move because my luck, I would get a ball bite.

I am so tired of the weather in the Tri-State. Onward, to spring! I’m tired of having the only baseball in town on my Wii.

I have been so craving of summer these last few days. I vote summer 6 times becuase if it were october, that would mean we’d be just 4 months away from being right back into this shit hole time of the year. And besides Matt, you know full well that you enjoy October more in August.

Ghosted by dohopoki @ 02/24/2007 9:54 PM EST

I wish it were July ‘99 or October ‘96. Both equally good times.

Ghosted by Bob @ 02/24/2007 10:00 PM EST

Gotta be summer. If it’s October, summer’s already dead and gone, but if it’s summer, you still have October to look forward to.
Happy SNT everybody!
I think “indie” is going to be a bit too nebulous of a concept to have a productive conversation about, especially with some of this lot. I’ll cast a vote for Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, though.
Oh, hey, by the way, guess who got a Wii? :D

Ghosted by squee4242 @ 02/24/2007 10:00 PM EST

I’m just ready for the sky to be blue, not gray, and the sun to come out every once in a while.  Warmer weather, non-mud ground, and perhaps the chance to wear flip-flops without fear of frostbite.  Also, Spiderman 3.

Ghosted by FyarlGirl @ 02/24/2007 10:03 PM EST

was it jazzy? did jazzy get a wii? or kingklash!? I bet it was kingklash.

Ghosted by dohopoki @ 02/24/2007 10:04 PM EST

Damnit, I was just wishing it was easter time ever since I walked into the pastel springy aisle of Target tonight and found pretty cake decorating things. But yeah, I dread warm weather… really I just dread the bugs. :(

K- Sorry I left you hanging in the last thread! I watched that secret ending with Gackt - that was pretty sweet, but yeah, it was a bit odd and weird, too. I totally need to finish that game! I actually did play it a little bit the other night but I died really quick. I just need to haul ass past those 400 armed guys faster I guess, and not try to be all stealthy. :D

Favorie Indie movie - I’m not really sure I’ve seen too many of them. :\ Saw Garden State and it was ok… Sunshine was pretty good. I really have no clue. Is The Libertine considered indie? :D

Ghosted by Ryane @ 02/24/2007 10:08 PM EST

Well, that’s a toughy Matt. I do love summer for baseball. And I never mind nicer weather, but it it’s humid or the temp is above eighty, I hate it.  And October does equal the playoffs.  I am thinking about this entirely based on baseball, which is unfair and also means that the season starts very soon:)
Happy SNT!  Anyone else gonna try and catch SNL tonight?  Dwight from the Office is hosting right?  It’s snowing like a freak here tonight and my babysitter refused to leave the house, so YAY for staying in!

Ghosted by kb @ 02/24/2007 10:08 PM EST

Ryane: LOL. Just don’t try the Extra Hard mode that you’ll unlock, okay? G (Genesis) is supposed to be in Crisis Core, but that doesn’t tell us about his future (since Dirge takes place after VII and Core before). Square will probably try to parlay it into a Dirge sequel. Meh.

I LOVE Garden State and Eternal Sunshine, but Squee is right, we will never agree on a definition of indie.

Ghosted by K- @ 02/24/2007 10:13 PM EST

I kind of wish it was opening night for TMNT

Thanks for the baby-congrats from everybody and CONGRATS TO Terror Claws!

Summer? October?
“A long time have I watched this one. All the the time has he looked away, to the future, to the horizon. Never his mind on where he was; what he was doing.” :)

I have a survey topic but (A) I am kinda digging this formless SNT and (B) my last surveys (which I thought were neat) have kinda bombed. :(

Ghosted by The Manimal @ 02/24/2007 10:18 PM EST

I’m totally done with Winter.  As for Summer or October….that’s a toughie.  It all depends on where I’m living.  When I lived in Florida, summer was disgustingly oppressive….but everywhere else I’ve lived, summer’s been lovely.  As for October….it’s got Halloween…and again, depending on region, has changing leaves.  I miss the leaves changing.  I haven’t seen it since I left RI in 2002.  In FLA, no color change (duh), and in Idaho….they kinda just turned brown and fell off over night.

I’m on a 6-9 month roadtrip as of now, so it’ll be interesting to see where I am as the seasons change.  I have a pretty good idea of where I SHOULD be, and when, but things change….so you never know.

Ghosted by MissJess @ 02/24/2007 10:24 PM EST

I also wish, strangely, for 2004.

Dude, you are not alone.

Ghosted by Steve E @ 02/24/2007 10:31 PM EST

Summer or October would be swell. I guess, if given the choice, I’d bypass a humid New York City Summer and go straight for Fall, though.

Jemmy and Bob -
Agreed. I would take 2004, 1999, or 1996. Or all of the above. The past has been sounding pret-ty good lately.

Yikes. The Indie Question. Does “City of God” count?

Ghosted by ann veal @ 02/24/2007 10:42 PM EST

Oh yeah, congrats to the Terror and Mrs. Claws!
I never watch SNL, but I will tonight, for the comedy genius that is Rainn Wilson. Too bad there’s no new Office for six freaking weeks.
I watched a Trading Spaces today that was set in Wildwood (or rather, I watched a Trading Spaces today because it was set in Wildwood)…I was hoping to get to see the boardwalk; they went on the ferris wheel and took pictures but that was it. Bit of a disappointment.

Ghosted by squee4242 @ 02/24/2007 10:42 PM EST

Oh God no, I never do Extra Hard - I just go for normal and I’m ok with that. :) Crisis Core seems like a waste. I mean, geeze, did they have to make it a freaking cell phone game? Bleh. They could’ve made a really awesome DS game out of that, and I wouldn’t mind a Dirge sequel. Just anything with the FFVII characters, really. ;)

Ghosted by Ryane @ 02/24/2007 10:47 PM EST

Most definitely summer. Aside from the uber-cool Halloween period, the rest of October is usually pretty f*ckin’ depressing.

Ghosted by Retro Playback @ 02/24/2007 10:48 PM EST

Before Crisis is the one on cell-phones.
Crisis Core is going to be on PSP.

It’s Zach’s story at the Nibelheim Reactor. It has Cloud, Sephy, and Aerith, for some reason. Tifa would be so much more appreciated. I’m sure she’s in the game, but I’m pretty sure she isn’t playable.

I’d honestly suggest pouring your energies into XII. Endless pleasure. I’m at 139 hours and I’m no-where in the plot yet :D

Ghosted by K- @ 02/24/2007 11:02 PM EST

Considering that tomorrow is my Birthday and summer is the busiest part of the year for me, I think February is just fine….  :)

Ghosted by Cameron T. @ 02/24/2007 11:05 PM EST

After this winter’s massive ice storms and last summer’s 100-degree heat waves, I think I’ll say I wish for October…EARLY October, before it starts getting colder, when I can still ride around in a T-shirt and old sneakers and jean culottes. And when we can read Matt’s Halloween Countdown and anticipate all the holidays to come. :)

Ghosted by starwenn @ 02/24/2007 11:09 PM EST

Crisis Core on PSP?! I had no idea. Sweet! I am so incredibly happy about that. :D

XII does sound pretty wonderful, but I really gotta finish all these other games I have first. :\ That also reminds me I need to put in for vacation soon, too. :)

and funny enough, i am on ritalin(and ive never hated anything so much in my life!) but i do tend to get insanely hyper alotta the time! :P

Squee: you’re absolutly right, none of us will agree on the actual definition of ‘indie’, that was a pretty lame survey topic on my behalf

Ghosted by Andrew @ 02/24/2007 11:52 PM EST

Happy SNT!!

I am definitely going to watch SNL tonight, I might even stay up and watch it instead of just watching it on my TiVo tomorrow.  Rainn Wilson is going to be awesome, I just hope the skits suck less than usual.

I just got Twilight Princess for my Wii (yay!!!)  While I was waiting for it to come from Amazon.com, I got out my NES and played Legend of Zelda for a week.  (And I beat it too!  It’s a lot easier to figure things out when you’re 24 rather than 9.)

Possible survey suggestion, if we want one…just because I’m in a Nintendo mood (plus we are talking about summer, which is a great time to play hours of video games)…What was your favorite NES game(s) ? My top 3 are probably Zelda 1 and 2, and Bubble Bobble.  There were so many more that I loved though, and fortunately I still have them all.

Also, I’m watching Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.  I don’t really “get it”…are you supposed to be high in order to watch it, or is it just not supposed to make sense.  Or both?

Ghosted by Lilly @ 02/25/2007 12:00 AM EST

dohopoki

How about a writing contest in which the story must contain some sort of pillow fight?

Ghosted by Cameron T. @ 02/25/2007 12:05 AM EST

Favorite NES game that I always thought was the last great gasp of that system: NORTH AND SOUTH. It’s got history (sorta) and it combines all the “advanced” elements of the latter NES years with the general crappiness of 4 bit technology.

Lilly, I don’t think there is much to get. The best part of that movie (and I am ashamed to admit I have never read any Hunter S. Thompson) is when he is reminiscing on the high water mark of 60’s radicalism. That and the one word reading by Johnny Depp of the word “Madness” when listening to the audio tapes.
Funny that this is being discussed tonight since I just watched the 1981 WHERE THE BUFFALO ROAM with Bill Murray and Peter Boyle as Thompson and the lawyer. Now, that one was pointless. At least FEAR AND LOATHING has some entertainment value (”Let’s get down to brass tacks: How much for the ape”) :)

Ghosted by The Manimal @ 02/25/2007 12:11 AM EST

I gotta go with October.  Fall is the best season of all, football and leaves changing color.  And Halloween is the greatest holiday ever.  I loved it long before I discovered X-E, and now I love it even more.  And if I had to pick an October, October of ‘95 would be a good one to go to.  All hail the Halloween Countdown!!

Ghosted by mike rotch @ 02/25/2007 12:12 AM EST

We actually warped a “Desert Island Games” thread into our favorite NES games thread, a while back. But, since I am one of the resident gamers, I’ll play along :D

Final Fantasy, Legend of Zelda, Simon’s Quest

October,  back to 88 for me….
Summers in Texas are way to HOT

Ghosted by MJgrass @ 02/25/2007 12:19 AM EST

A little of both, Lilly, but there’s more to it, too. I think you have to watch it at least twice to really get a handle on it, and I’d never discourage anyone from reading the book, either. Without the background info from the book, it’s somewhat (understatement) disjointed, but if you’ve read the book than it does a great job of bringing the highlights to life, even though it can’t quite bring the more subtle points across. It’s easy to see the movie as this crass pointless mess on the surface, but (and again, this may be my inability to separate the book from the movie) there’s a real poignancy and melancholy hidden underneath all of the clamor (what Manimal touched on above). That’s my $0.02, anyway.
Manimal, you should at least read Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas! I mean, I think everyone should, but I can see it not being up everyone’s alley. But you’re missing out!

Ghosted by squee4242 @ 02/25/2007 12:20 AM EST

Cameron T I don’t know. I’m getting some ideas of how an SNT writing contest could work but I think I want to actually hold this idea off for a while so I can think it through. Like, for in the summmer.

Nes games, Mega Man 2, Tecmo Super Bowl and Hello Kitty World.

usally I go with summer(and I still will if I get a new job) but at work its terribly hot during the summer. Then again it makes a dip in the river and a cold beer all that more inviting.

So I was at my local mall when I felt I had to move my bowels. Anyway, when I finished I took one quick look, you know, to see what I made. Thats when I noticed that I had passed an entire Red Bean. Now I had passed corn kernels in the past, say after eating a KFC flavor bowl, but a red bean? Was this a magic bean I wondered.  But since I was not at home I could not examine it or even pluck it and plant it. No, all I could do would be to flush it away to poo poo land. It was a sad day.

To cover the major topics:

It’s hard to choose October or Summer, mainly because it’s been in the 70’s here all week :)  But I alsways liked October; the whole fall vide is awesome….

My three top NES games:  TMNT: The Arcade Game, Super Mario 3, and Blaster Master

The opening SNL sketch was HILARIOUS.  The monologe is also great.

Also, don’t know if anyone is aware of this, but there is a new flavor of Diet Pepsi Jazz called Caramel Cream.  It’s actually pretty good compared to the other two Jazz’s and tastes actually like it sounds.

The weather here in SoCal was really nice today. It was comfortable enough to go out in shorts if you wanted to, without getting too hot (it was 80 here last week). As to the topic of indie movies and actors, I must respectfully decline to answer the question, as I myself am not really a fan of independent film, especially as it is so difficult to define an “independent” movie. BTW, I am currently listening to “King Of Suede” by Weird Al Yankovic.

I have two things to say.

#2, I fucking glomped Donatello in a major way.

As to the comments about “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas”, however confusing and difficult to follow the book and movie may be to follow, you must also consider that the movie was directed by Terry Gilliam, whose movies have a reputation of being rather obtuse. This is coming from someone who’s seen Gilliam’s “The Adventures of Baron Munchausen”. Wow, that was weird.

NES games:  Bubble Bobble, Kung Fu, Super Mario Bros. 3

Ghosted by Timbo @ 02/25/2007 2:18 AM EST

Woo!  It looks like I got here in time for SNT!

As for the survey…I choose October.  I despise summertime because it’s so disgusting and miserable where I live—maybe I’d like it more if I were living somewhere that has cooler summers.  October is my favorite month of the year, though it has become kind of gross and hot in recent years thanks to stupid global warming.  But if I had a choice, I’d pick January.  I’m feeling nostalgic for January 2004, for personal reasons.

I can’t pick a favorite indie movie.  Don’t have Netflix, and the theaters and video stores in my area suck.

Ghosted by Astro Zombie @ 02/25/2007 2:25 AM EST

1. Given that my heater is currently broken and I’m wearing like, three shirts and a cardigan, I’ll take summer.

2. Does Priscilla, Queen of the Desert count as an indie film?

3. My favorite NES games were Super Mario/Duck Hunt, Q-Bert, and Spy vs. Spy. I chose those because when we had an NES I was three years old and those were the only games we had.

4. Gary Coleman!!!!

Ghosted by jazzy @ 02/25/2007 3:01 AM EST

Summer or fall….umm….I can’t decide. I like shorts, but I have no air conditioning. I like new episodes on television, but I hate the shorter sun time.

Ghosted by Mars @ 02/25/2007 3:03 AM EST

hmmm…with close to a foot of snow coming down tonight i have to say summer looks good about now.

Greatest indie film?  I have to go with Clerks.  I do share the love of Garden State that some on here have, though.

Manimal - North and South rules.  As a 12 year old history buff that was my crack.  (That and the North and South mini-series.) Top three NES, though, I’d have to say

1. Zelda
2. Tecmo Super Bowl
3. Tetris

Ghosted by Yelnick McWawa @ 02/25/2007 3:28 AM EST

Damn, I missed SNL tonight! Rainn Wilson was on! I was at another Mixer though, some good times, screwing with pledges, etc.

It’ll be on again…I hope…

I personally like late spring, like April or May. Not too hot, not too cold, but juuuuuuuust riiiiiiight.

Indie…Hmm. I’ll take Clerks, too.

I really want to see the Reno 911! movie, but work and other crap have been preventing me from going!

There’s a new Ben & Jerry’s ice cream titled Stephen Colbert’s Americone Dream. It should be awesome.

NEW TOPIC! Celebs you met. I told my pledges to remember this one, here are who I’ve met:

Lewis Black

David Hyde Pierce
Josh Blue
Biz Markie

I dunno, every season has up points. I do prefer winter to summer, though. Summer is hot and nasty. Unless you’re swimming. In the winter you can put more things on or cuddle up with someone if you are cold, but in the summer you can only take so much off before you are naked and still hot. Bleh to summer.

Ghosted by X @ 02/25/2007 4:09 AM EST

There’s summer school and summer jobs from late May to early August, the weather’s hot, all the mosquitoes are revived and pissed, the smell of bug spray permeates the air, TV is all reruns, movies are at their corniest, and people are general ticking time bombs because of the heat. But it sure beats the full on work time.

Ghosted by Ben @ 02/25/2007 4:34 AM EST

Definitely summer.  Longer days, go to the lake, take the shirt off, party outside, watch beautiful young women blossom.  These are just a few of the many reasons why summer is the best time of the year.  October is cool because it’s college football season and you get to see beautiful young women blossom on campus, but the positives of summer outweigh those of fall.  Much props to Matt for the blogs about old school soda, 80’s commercials, and McDonald’s.

New Survey, what was your favorite survey in this SNT?

Ghosted by dohopoki @ 02/25/2007 12:21 PM EST

1.Well I missed SNT, but that’s cause I was feeling like crap. I’ll start off by saying Happy Birthday to Cameron T. today! And you all know you can wish me a Happy Birthday tomorrow! I did watch the beginning of SNL for the first time in a very very long time, but b/c I am out of the loop completely I turned it off b/c I didn’t who the band or the guest was!

2.I choose summer b/c I don’t care how hot it is, or hot I am I would rather be that way than cold!

3.Indie film, I haven’t seen many I don’t think, but I do enjoy me some Bubba Ho-Tepp

4.As for my favorite NES games Dr. Mario, Zelda and Mario 3!

I think that about covers it?

Wait…

!!!!!!!!!

I’m done now.

New Survey, what was your favorite survey in this SNT?

Well, the NES one gave me another excuse to type the words Final Fantasy, the indie one let me wax about Cusack, and the season and timetravel ones brought out the emo in me.

I can’t decide, they all suit me so well *sniff* :P

I’d say October, but early/mid September would be even better. The first week of Halloween stuff out at Walgreens and the final disappearance of all back-to-school merchandise is what I’m shooting for.

The only celebrity I have talked to is Richard Gant (of JASON GOES TO HELL fame) at the Paris airport (!!!) but I have seen the following people:
1. Arnold Palmer (Jax airport)
2. C. Everett Koop (Philadelphia airport)
3. Meinhardt Raabe (the Munchkin Coroner at the Clay County Fair)
4. One of the guys from FISHBONE was walking around before the WARPED TOUR but I didn’t say anything.
Not a very good list but points for being eclectic??
Favorite survey? Not sure but I am a little surprised the season one had such good legs. Good job Matt.

I wish it was December 14th 2004 or 2005, back when my ex and I were still dating. Only reason we broke up is coz her “feelings changed”  I feel that she’s “the one” (probably sounds silly) and I’ll wait for her as long as it takes…but I’m probably bringing down the board. Sorry bout that…I just love her so much, and wanted to share with my XE fam…see if they had ne suggestions (plus it’s been FOREVER since i’ve posted :D )

So, I kept thinking about this spring/fall thing, and I woke up this morning, turned over and grabbed my DS - I started playing Animal Crossing, and all the snow had melted away! It was nice to see green grass on the ground again. I immediately felt “springy”, but then - I got up and looked outside. 3-4 inches of snow and it’s coming down like there’s no tomorrow. Punch in the face. :(

So, instead of waiting for that last little bit of ice to melt away from a week or so ago - I got to go shovel this brand new snow for an hour. Luckily it was light and fluffy … but still. Now I have to go to bed because I am supposed to be at work at 6am.

NES games:
1.  Milon’s Secret Castle
2.  Tecmo Bowl
3.  Operation Wolf
Although I was one of the first people to get the Turbo Grafx-16 CD craze going.  In 1989 I was in 7th grade and my older sister was dating a rich boyfriend who was shipping off to the military.  He basically gave me his Turbo Grafx-16 CD system with 15 games for $50 bucks.  That was the first CD game system (that I know of) with Y’s Book I & II, Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective, J.B. Harold Murder Club to name a few.  Bonk’s Adventure, Takin’ It to the Hoop Bball, TV Sports Football, Legendary Axe, Splatterhouse, Military Madness (One of the best strategy games ever), R-Type, Dungeon Explorer, Power Golf (I still love it better than Tiger), World Class Baseball, and titles that I can’t remember (I was 13 then and Im 30 now, imagine how many drugs and wild escapades I’ve experienced during that time.)
Help me out people, let everyone know how many of you started your morning out with Fruit Islands cereal and Mrs. Pac-Man cereal!  (Ayummayumma!  You can say it too.  She’s got a shocking pink bow…OHHH!)

I’ve wondered about the smilies. Gosh, what a strange word. Smilies. SMILIES.

It snowed here, and I firmly believe it did so because I said I was ready for summer. (Don’t tell it, but I’m quite happy it’s here.)

Random answers!

The “Tell Me a Story” thread (not really a survey, but had geat results)
Metroid
True Stories
Keeping the rubber side down and the shiny side up
The Summer of ‘75
Seeing Star Wars in the theater the first time
Singing along to “(Keep Feeling) Fascination” for no reason

Ghosted by kingklash @ 02/26/2007 3:17 PM EST

It snowed here too.  Last night AND the night before.  Ick.

Sometimes, if I’m reading fast, I read smilies as similes.  That reminds me of metaphors, and of 10th grade when I gave a lesson to my HONORS English class on the easiest way to tell the difference between the two using a single line from a song.  Yeah.

Ghosted by K- @ 02/26/2007 11:26 PM EST

I never watched a single episode of 24 until this season’s premier. I was immediately in love with the show (and yes, Jack too :P) when Jack bit into that guys neck when they had him strapped into the chair and Fayed was torturing him.

Since then, I’ve burned through seasons 1 & 2 and am now on the 4th disc of season 3. But yeah, there is something lacking, and I think it’s Jack’s face time. They have like, way too much stuff going on… or maybe it’s just better watching 6-8 episodes in a row instead of 1 a week. :D

OOooh!  Captain N and Filmation’s Ghost Busters?  Makes me want to start my own pirate TV sation that nly broadcasts on Saturday mornings, with only Saturday morning TV shows.  Starting at 6:00 with Bugs Bunny and Popeye cartoons, All favorites will be in heavy rotation, and the last show to close the day will, of course, be reruns of American Bandstand and Soul Train.  Also, vintage commercials from the era, and Schoolhouse Rock, Time for Timer, In The News, Snippets (I’m really dating myself on that one), and the like sprinkled thoughout the broadcast.  Just me, pretending I’m 8 years old back in the 70’s watching Superfriends and Fat Albert.

By the way, my TV Guide Guide to TV, it lists programming grids from 1953 all the way to 2002.  So I can tell what was on around the time you were born.  Good reference book if you can get it.

Saturday Night Thread

I would like to get the Captain N set but from my understanding the source of the show wasn’t in great condition and shout! per usual did nearly nothing to clean it up. In other words, I heard it’s hard to watch and listen to and not for the right reasons. The Mario sets were done better and they still walked the line of being a mockery to the DVD format.

Congrats to Tommy for becoming a knight of the Round Table of Queen Martha.  Anyways, there has been a disturbing rumor floating around that Alan Thicke of Growing Pains fame had a serious accident nicking his nuts from shaving in the shower and now is in intensive care.  Boner has stepped up to the plate and is now leading a candlelight vigil in NYC Central Park to keep the faith for his former fallen comrade.  Boner has reportedly already gone through two entire Bics, and has now upped the ante by ponying up a fund to show his undying love for Papa Bear Seaver so he can get a whole new bag of Bics at the store and a 40 to pour out on the wall for his homie.  Please post any updates if they become available about this heart wrenching tragedy that is quickly making 9/11 look like Sesame Street!

I do wonder about Matt’s further Wii impressions, though.

So I just saw the trailer for TMNT - looks pretty kewl. I’ve seen the toys for awhile now in toys r us and target / wal-mart.

Anyway… did anyone see IDOL. my god that girl totally FUBAR’d that song. I had to laugh.

On the other side of the world, south of the Equator, where poster arete lives, October is one of the warmer months.  Hello, South Africa!

Wow, you mean the X has evolved to the point where we need a official glossary of X-E in-jokes, cliches, and favorite nacho recipies?  Our baby’s growing up!

mmmmm…. nachos…..

Someone got Fish ooze in my Knuckle Extruder

That is so bitner…

Ghosted by K- @ 03/02/2007 1:57 PM EST

Alright, Matt, I know you don’t know me, but I’m having one of the shittiest weeks in the history of me, and I need something to read, damn it. X-E is where I come to feel better. I know its not your responsibility to stick a pacifier in the mouths of whiny, selfish little web babies like myself who scream “Update!” to you whenever you’ve decided to take some time to yourself, but I need, man. Just a paragraph. A sentence, even. Something. I’m barely hanging on here. Give us a sign of life, brother, no matter how small.

……..Sigh………..

Come on, man. Give us something…

You’re doing this on purpose……can’t…..fight them all…..on my own :x

I am sure there will be a new SNT tonight, people.  It’s ok- we’re gonna make it.  And even if not, more people should pop in than usual to say ‘hey’.

I am off to see The Number 23 tonight- hope it’s good.

Happy (early) SNT!!

Ghosted by Muppet Baby @ 03/02/2007 8:44 PM EST

…. okay, I just had to look at my calendar and make sure I didn’t sleep through an entire day. But yeah, today is surely enough Friday, and not Saturday, when we have the Saturday Night Thread. Muppet Baby, stop messin’ with my mind!

For real, at this point, Matt could post a photo of his dirty laundry and write “discuss” and we’d all be jumping on it.

Ghosted by Mystie @ 03/02/2007 8:52 PM EST

Sooooon!

Ghosted by Matt @ 03/02/2007 8:57 PM EST

It’s true, Mystie. Cause we’ve done it. :P

Oh and to everyone else, I’m not pissy because you want content, I’m pissy when you demand it. You can question why it’s my personal vendetta, but just know that it is. I just want everyone to be considerate of Matt, ok?

Ghosted by K- @ 03/02/2007 9:06 PM EST

Thanks, bro! That’s all I needed. I love ya, man!

Ghosted by Chris @ 03/02/2007 9:08 PM EST

Im kinda pissy unhappy meself.  The Target exclusive Easter ponies are sold out at every store myself and my parents have checked.  Its like everyone bought them up and put them on ebay but its ridiculous to pay $30 + shipping for $15 worth of ponies.  I really wanted these for my daughters Easter but this is ridiculous.  If anyone has seen any or are willing to pick em up for me, shoot me an email please.

One of my McDonalds near me is selling shamrock shakes, the other coffee flavored.  So weird.

I agree that the relative paucity of new posts is saddening, but you’ve got to understand the kind of pressure Matt’s under.  SpongeBob ads don’t just write themselves, you know.  Just seeing his work and knowing it’s his is sort of rewarding itself.  As a father of young kids it makes all those hours of Nick a little less irritating.  I’ve only posted a few dozen times, but I’ve been reading XE for ages.  I started reading just before the whole Photog saga, though sadly I was never able to contribute to it directly.  But when I see someone say “that is so bitner” it just makes my day.  Keep up the good work, Matt, even if it’s only every other week.

Are we in bizarro world today? There was an article just over 2 weeks ago, there was an article just over 2 weeks before that and this thread isn’t even a week old yet. Are we all talking about the same website here when we’re crying out to God for Matt to give us an update? I love the site too but this is nothing compared to the waits we have had in the past.

Ghosted by dohopoki @ 03/02/2007 11:52 PM EST

It’s Matt’s fault for spoiling us the past few months with all the updates.

Very late answers to previous SNT:

Season: fall.  cool weather, the smell of dry leaves, the anticipation of holidays to come.
Indie movies:  Thirteen, Napolean Dynamite
NES games:  Zelda, Tetris, Lolo

And….Matt?  Don’t worry.  We know you’ve got a life outside of work and here.  Just hope everything is okay.

I saw the Reno 911 movie tonight. Funny, and probably funnier to people who regularly watch the show like me. They’ve re-recorded some of the intros to the characters from the pilot in the movie, but this is probably to introduce the characters to people who never watch the show (Dangle & Junior’s is the most obvious). The funniest part is probably when they’re chasing the chicken, and it definately earns its R rating (Officer Jones finding not 1 but 4 of his fellow officers pleasurung themselves in their respective hotel rooms)

Also, still searching for a Shamrock Shake on LI. Any info leading me to one would be awesome.

ohMuppet Baby I hear you on the 7-11.  We lack them here in MN and when I go visit the fam in seattle they cannot understand my crazy need to get a big gulp.  I just love that logo design more than any other.

Matt: There should be an Easter Egg coloring competition this year. I was just in Kroger and past a egg coloring holder with those egg tattoo covers. I have no idea what you call them. Just a thought. I want to say “dioramas.”

Ghosted by Mars @ 03/03/2007 1:56 AM EST

Hey guys, help me make this month national TMNT Month! I’m doing it and I think it would be cool if we could get other sites to participate so everyone has plenty of TMNT related goodness to share in March. You hear me Mystie ?

Ghosted by Tommy @ 03/03/2007 2:23 AM EST

You know, I understand why I’m completely opposed to the Transformer movie, but I can’t for the life of me figure out why I don’t care, in the slightest, about the TMNT movie.

My mom was even all “we’re gonna go see it” tonight, and I was like, nah, I’m not feeling it.

I can’t figure it out.

Ghosted by K- @ 03/03/2007 3:00 AM EST

I wish it were summer… then all my major stresses would be over… hopefully.

And I’d be worrying about moving out, instead, but at least I’d be with my BF.

Ghosted by Hazzard @ 03/03/2007 3:09 AM EST

Hmmm…. I should be able to manage something, Tommy. Got some Easter stuff to do this month, and hopefully going back to college in a few weeks, but it’s not like I have a job or anything to hold me back.

Also, I’m crossing my fingers and praying to the heavens that my friends don’t want to go to the midnight showing of TMNT. The one fucking talks during movies, and if I have to deal with that shit, so help me God, I will rape her up the ass with a pineapple.

Is it wrong to want to pick up guys at a midnight showing of TMNT?

Ghosted by Mystie @ 03/03/2007 3:34 AM EST

I’m not entirely feeling it for TMNT either yet I’ve been mostly impressed with everything I’ve seen.

Ghosted by dohopoki @ 03/03/2007 3:35 AM EST

The new TMNT could suck and I think I’d still be just as pumped. I don’t know why.

Ghosted by Tommy @ 03/03/2007 5:08 AM EST

HA HA HA! Wow, I am an idiot- I seriously thought it was Saturday alllll day yesterday.  Kind of like how Dwight got the days wrong in the Office that time…

‘The Number 23′ was pretty good- they tried too hard, maybe- that would be my only real complaint.  But it was entertaining and Jim Carrey was great (as usual).

Mystie- A midnight showing of TMNT would be an awesome place to pick up guys…you would already know that your movie tastes are similar!

Holy Crap! The Gate is On Demand. If anyone likes a good cheesey 80’s horror flick, this is the one. I remember watching this on HBO when I was 7. Awesome!

Any updates on Alan Thicke’s condition?  Did Mystie just mention something about the Strong Bads, the most important video game figures in the entire world from the ground breaking video game masterpiece, Tag Team Wrestling?  Strong Bads are bad, you are a little weinie girl for being so good.  Strong Bads celebrate holidays by punching old women in the middle of crosswalks.
