Bill, your business lunch story is great. Not a week goes by that I don’t quote The Neverending Story in some way. Usually when I’m disinterested in something someone’s telling me — “We don’t really care anymore…achoo!” or when I’m exasperated by some ridiculous task I’ve been asked to do — “I lost my horse, I nearly drowned, I just barely escaped from the Nothing, and for what?!” In fact, just last night, my wife (who is 9 months pregnant) was feeling discouraged. After trying to cheer her up for half an hour, I just gave up and plead with her: “Artax, please, don’t give in to the sadness…”
“You take the good, you take the bad, you take them both and then you have the FACTS OF LIFE!THE FACTS OF LIFE!”
Also, Tale Spin, “Thunder, Thunder, Thundercats!”….and HEATHCLIFF.

yea g4 is mostly video game stuff, the only show i really watch on there is “attack of the show”, that olivia munn chick is kinda hot, although she has a gorilla face.

I never really got into Attack of the Show. Kevin’s a Seacrest knock-off. Yeah, I said it
Any Kevin fans feel free to defend him as I do Sessler. I’m cool with that, to each his own. Remember when Seacrest was a lowly fill-in for John on Talk Soup?

Are any of the old Screen Savers hosts still on the network? I don’t remember seeing any of them when I caught a little bit of G4 over Christmas, aside from Morgan Webb on X-Play.
Not that I’m aware of. I’m not kidding when I say X-Play, Cheat!, and Attack of the Show are the only shows that consistently have new episodes.
So many hours of Star Trek and that Brain show where they do stupid “experiments,” it makes me sick to my stomach.

I’m a member of the Defend Sessler Club too. Although he often mouths Morgan’s cue cards when she’s talking.
I did see Attack of the Show with (other) Kevin recenty. What a dweeb. I say “other” since he was a weak replacement for the resident “Kevin”, Kevin Rose. Plus I believe he was a “Kevin” replacement for Sarah Lane, too.
Anyone watch the new SNL? I thought it was hilarious!
On topic, I throw in the themes of these shows into the ring:
Sealab 2021
Aqua Teen Hunger Force
Harvey Birdman
Robot Chicken
Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo
Futurama
Underdog
Inspector Gadget
Pee-Wee’s Playhouse
Muppet Babies
Garfield & Friends
Insomniac (Dave Attell’s show)
It’s Garry Shandling’s Show
“This is the theme to Garry’s Show,
The theme to Garry’s show.
Garry called me up and asked if I would right his theme song.
I’m almost halfway finished,
How do you like it so far,
How do you like the theme to Garry’s Show.
This is the theme to Garry’s Show,
The opening theme to Garry’s show.
This is the music that you hear as you watch the credits.
We’re almost to the part of where I start to whistle.
Then we’ll watch ‘It’s Garry Shandling’s Show.’
Remember when Seacrest was a lowly fill-in for John on Talk Soup?
You bet. In fact, that’s what I still think everytime I see him. Actually, I think he was filling in for Greg Kinnear when I first saw him (but we were right on the cusp of John.)

Oh and don’t get me started on the Jamie Kennedy experiment. That’s their “latest” show and they’re running it incessently too.
I seriously don’t know how they stay on the air with only one block of currently “relevent” shows. Does anybody really want to watch 8 hours of Star Trek everyday? Even Trekkies (Trekkers), c’mon!!
Chestnuts roasted by K- @ 01/14/2007 2:53 AM
Oh, Rainbowfeet, I’m so glad I’m not the only one. After watching the vid, I see I was off in a few places, which actually comforts me slightly.
MST3K is probably my favorite theme song of all, though I’ve just started watching Dog the Bounty Hunter and it’s got a pretty awesome theme too. Welcome Back Kotter, All in the Family and of course The Simpsons are good ones as well. I actually got a postcard recently with a PS of “Gee, our old LaSalle ran great” .
Justin, they do play Arrested Dev on G4 (another one of my favorite openers), and frequently to boot, but they butcher it pretty badly on occasion. I was watching the “S.O.B.s” episode the other day, and they completely cut out the big “live ending” gag. They even left the setup in at the beginning of the episode, so it was doubly stupid. I remember they cut my favorite subtle-but-dirty joke from the 2nd ep, too.
Mike, I wonder if you’ve seen this old article?

i like the jamie kennedy exp!
but yea never got the whole star trek thing, screw a whole block, i can’t even sit through 5 seconds of that crap.. though i can’t really sit through 5 seconds of any type of sci-fi show
the original star wars movies are good for a viewing about once every 10 years, that’s as far as i go..

I totally always thought it was “GRLO Salrigrade”. Something furtherly conservative about making one’s own money that I didn’t understand because I was too young. Kinda like the line famously discussed on Chappelle’s Show from the Good Times theme.

Invader Norbert, I hope you bring lots of spaghetti………

If it hasn’t been said, Talespin!!!
I had a cassette of all the theme songs from the Disney Afternoon. I wore that thing out. Talespin was always my favorite show of the bunch.

Justin! Yes! MST3K! Yes! Especially the version that existed for season three.
Chestnuts roasted by Katherine @ 01/14/2007 3:20 AM
Three shows I can’t watch 30 seconds of anymore without my eyes bleeding, but I remember the themes fondly.
Knight Rider
Dukes of Hazard
Brady Bunch
Batman and Robin (the original series) This last one I loved so much I would sprint home from grade school so I could here the song everyday…God am I dating myself.
Shows I still love with great themes.
Hogans Heroes
Scooby Doo
Mash
Star Trek
Batman and Robin (the original series) This one I loved so much I would sprint home after school so I could hear the song everyday…God am I dating myself.

Well hell, so much for cutting and pasting. Batman goes in great shows, of course it does make my eyes bleed too but I endure.
Chestnuts roasted by Wenthral @ 01/14/2007 3:28 AM
scooby doo is the shit! alot of those hanna barbera shows had great music, like that opening theme to jonny quest, maaaan those trombones – really jazzy stuff, hoyt curtin was a madman
Chestnuts roasted by cheeky @ 01/14/2007 3:29 AM
Call me old school but the themes from The Addams Family, Mr. Ed and The Beverly Hillbillies are still etched in my mind.
Chestnuts roasted by Jasper Crank @ 01/14/2007 3:32 AM
After I listed MST3K, I started thinking of a few others that have stuck in my head over the years:
Charles in Charge
Muppet Babies
The Muppet Show
Fraggle Rock
The Facts of Life
227 (because of my grandmother..she loved that show)
Good Times
Batman (the 60s)…especially when Homer comes up with a new version of it
..and a list that could go on all night; we certainly are the generation that was raised on TV! And Wenthral, I like the Star Trek themes too, but I’m more of a fan of ST:TNG and Voyager’s themes; they had such a sense of ‘hugeness’
Sorta off-topic: How the heck do you bold just a person’s name to draw attention to it?? I can’t figure it out….
I never thought I’d see so many G4 viewers in one place.
I for one love Adam Sessler (And yes, Kevin P, too *guilty*. He was one of my first crushes besides Shawn Hunter of Boy Meets World).
G4 shows have been sucking in general as of late. I can’t quite put my finger on it. Every show in general has at least 75% more product placement. And AOTS? AOTS is an entirely different beast now…I miss Sarah and Brendon. Dearly. And seriously, WTF is up with all these random bimbos they’re featuring for no apparent reason? I was fine with the *occasional* MySpace girl. I was also fine with the fact that most of them weren’t interesting or attractive. They only got 3 minutes of screentime. But now? You can barely get through every ten minutes ofAOTS without seeing one of these bitches and their sex advice.
“You know…like…guys like it when you let your hair down and look hot. I think guys are mostly attractive to me because I’m like…positive, and my tits are hot. Tht’s why goth girls aren’t attractive to me…They’re, like, too creepy to be hot. And I’m not gay. ”
Really?! omfg, My life is forever changed. Thank you, Bimbo of the Month.
