in the tune of “Rule Brittania”:

“Merry christmas, to all at X-E/What the hell is up with Boxing Day?”

Ick, my singing sucks. Rankin-Bass marathon on now!! So far we had “The Leprechaun’s Irish Gold” and currently it’s playing “Rudolph & Frosty’s Christmas in July” (they’re saving the good stuff for the evening)

Advent is as awesome as ever, Matt, thanx again! James Lipton, Lego Santa, the Jukebox, and Everyone singing the Christmas Vacation theme is just the icing on the cake!

And somehow, WMV files aren’t working on my compy today, so I can’t check the NORAD Santa site! (windows media player nor Quicktime is playing them for some reason)

I love having Christmas attached to a weekend. It creates a three-day holiday marathon. After all of the anticipation, it’s kind of anticlimactic to take care of it all in one day. I wish the merriest and most remarkablous of Christmases to Matt and all of my fellow X-E bloggers.

Ghosted by Lori @ 12/24/2006 3:40 PM EST

Yeah, Christmas Eve falling on a Sunday totally worked out. None of the normal line-ups on to interfere with the slew of Christmas movies to be aired.

I’m channel surfing now though, and I want to watch the parade on ABC, but the announcers are too…I swear to Christ they ripped these people from QVC, gave them “happy pills” which already they in no way needed, and glued microphones to their mouths. I can’t do it.

Alright, I’m off to watch my wife’s family eat fish, which I simply cannot stomache.  Truly, Matt, thank you for this Christmas season.  MERRY CHRISTMAS, X-E!!!

I was up till 6 am wrapping presents with my roomates last night.  Their kids are excited and woke me up at 8:30.  Tried several times to go back to sleep.  Succeeded a few times…to be woken up again.  Can’t speak.  Too tired.

Actually, yes I can, but it’s hard.  I wish you guys could see the mantle of my fireplace.  Between me, my roomates and their kids, we have 10- count ‘em 10 stockings hung by the chimney with care.

It is almost depressing to something as great as the X-E Christmas coverage come to an end.  I, for one, had a great time this year, and the site played a major part.  Happy Holidays to everyone and here’s to a great 2007.  Now if we could only get Matt to do a countdown for New Year’s…

Ghosted by buckly @ 12/24/2006 4:53 PM EST

Hey, Matt.  There’s a Mister…. uh, “Krampus” at the door, and he says his services are needed here at X-E.  Did anyone order a bizarre goat-demon with a handful of switches?  He seems pretty anxious.

Ghosted by kingklash @ 12/24/2006 4:58 PM EST

Merry Christmas Bitches!!!

That was for taking my “Happy Halloween, dammit,” Colonel :P

Went shopping this morning and amazingly it was remarkably chill. Guess that’s what I get for being there at 8am. Hitting the grandparent’s tonight. W/O a single form of hand-held action. Damn, I knew I should have waited to sell my GBA. Grrr. I’ll live.

Ghosted by K- @ 12/24/2006 5:01 PM EST

MissJess, I think that a photo is in order.

Matt, if it weren’t for you the season probably wouldn’t have been Christmasy at all for me, and I love you for that.

Everyone else, have a merry Christmas, and I hope enjoy whatever you are doing, and if you aren’t just drink some double-strength eggnog until you start enjoying yourself.

Store’s closed, just a couple more presents to wrap, and some last-minute prep to do.  I actually love these eleventh hour Hellrides every year.  Just in case I can’t post later, Merry Christmas to Matt, our leader and fellow holiday nut.  To Poster Kids like Mystie, Squee, the Darths Galvatron and Poop, Invader Norbert, Goob, Arete, Geoffinsanity, El Josh-O, and many, many others old and new.  Also the numerous names on the Lost Posters Memorial Chunk O’Rock.  To the old blog engine for a spectacular wipeout, and the new engine for its Zen-like tolerance of us.  Give hugs to your family, blood related, or the friends you’ve got, they’re family too.  to those who plan to have sex over the next two days, don’t think of me while you do it, that’s just creepy.  I’ll see you Tuesday, and Happy New Year to those who might not be in touch until then.  Like the song says, We’re here tonight, and that’s enough.

Hope you all are having a Merry Christmas!  I don’t celebrate it much anymore, perhaps I’m just getting too old.  Plus, I have no children, and the holiday is more about them than anything.

I worked today, and I work tommorrow, but its a better situation than my brother’s: he works for Blockbuster, who is making him not only close on Christmas Eve, but work Christmas Day as well :-/

Get this, Blockbuster signed some kind of exclusivity deal with the Weinstein production company and through some weird sub-deal, instead of Blockbuster giving their employees a real Christmas gift this year (usually a giftcard, in the past), this year they’ll each receive two tickets for Weinstein’s newest production, Black Christmas, the horror/slasher flick openning up Christmas Day.  He doesn’t know whether to laugh or cry.  ‘Tis the season! Can you feel the love?

Ghosted by Cotter @ 12/24/2006 10:31 PM EST

MissJeff, What in the world is a cheezified camera?  And 50% rum? Freeow that’s some strong eggnog.  I have a feeling someone is going to be getting a wee bit tipsy.

Kraken, I feel sorry for your brother.  Not only does that look like a horrible movie, but also who is going to want to see a horror movie around Christmas?

Also, I am 21, and I don’t remember all of the shows, but when I was younger I got a lot of my toys from yard sales, so I recognize more of the toys and what-not than most of the people my age would.

Also also, I can’t wait for the fallout thread.  I got the best gift ever, and you will all be jealous.

Ghosted by Jeff @ 12/24/2006 11:09 PM EST

Geez you’re all making me feel old.  At 34 I not only remember all the shows and toys mentioned and reviewed by Matt when they were first-run, I find myself getting fairly nostalgic about it all.  Strange, given how much of it was crap.  Still its been fun the last few years revisting things I think of as nostalgia, and reading all your reactions as from the perspective of people discovering them for the first time.  Its also been odd finding more and more of my childhood turn up as “collectibles” on e-bay or as dvd sets.  I bought the Dungeons & Dragons cartoon dvd box last week, and have been experiencing major 80’s flashbacks as a result of watching them.

I thank you, too, Matt. :)  Very much. :)

And MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!  :) :) :)

Yay, Matt!  I’m a lurker, but reat advent calendar this year.  Although, something was wrong with mine, box 24 had an engagement ring in it instead of a calliope.  I’ll have to send a letter….

Merry merry, everybody!

Ghosted by Adrienne @ 12/24/2006 11:37 PM EST

Merry Christmas, all! I spent most of Christmas Eve working, but the store closed in time for me to spend a few hours at a party held by a close friend of my uncle’s who lives a block down the street. It was fun. Not being a drinker (liquor and I don’t get along), I got to eat, chat, watch Cartoon Network Christmas shows (is it me, or are their regular shows getting weirder every year?), and watch everyone else get bombed. Tomorrow, I’m going over to my uncle and biological father’s house to do the same thing, only with presents and the big Eagles-Cowboys game. (GO EAGLES! Sorry, I’m from South Jersey. Comes with the territory.)

And the Advent Calender…wooHOO! Knacks and Mare the Second heated up my screen to the boiling point. At least we know the mistletoe’s getting some use tonight! ;)

Seriously, Matt, the others are right. Great Advent Calender, great MegaParty, great crew, great guy…and everyone have a great holiday. :)

Wow, congrats Adrienne!

Kraken - argh!  I want that DVD set!  Another good reason to get healthy and get out there and make a few extra bucks.  BTW, I’m a few years older than you even. :)

Ghosted by Moony @ 12/24/2006 11:56 PM EST

At 33, I also was there for a lot of the nostalgia on this site, and was old enough to remember it well enough to know things Matt would be too young to remember as well. Now if you can translate that, have a Merry Christmas.

(On the calendar: I love a happy ending. Except for the bad guys. They deserve crappy endings. Here’s hoping Knacks and Mare 2 have a happy future in store)

Is there some reason why Knacks locked his last MySpace post for subscribers only? That’s a bratty thing to do. I still refuse to surrender my dignity by making a MySpace.

If what he says within the locked post is any different from what he says in the final Advent chapter, someone do me and others like me a favor and copy-paste it here…..

I am now awake for Christmas morning way too early! Sadly I woke up in the same style I have been the past few days, that is, feeling like someone lit a fire under my stomach and the contents are about to boil over. I’m sure it’s nothing a couple Tums and maybe some Christmas cookies can’t fix. :)

And oh boy little Peter Rabbits!

Ghosted by Mystie @ 12/25/2006 5:01 AM EST

The ending confused me.  Well, the second ending confused me.  I’m hoping it means that we won’t have to wait a whole year for more Playmobil/Lego antics.  Maybe we’ll get more adventures for Easter.

Ghosted by Jeff @ 12/25/2006 5:31 AM EST

Jeff I make up my own words.  A cheezified camera is just a crap camera with a misleading package.

I was so grateful to oome home to my loving computer tonight!

Ahh, makes sense.  I was hoping it would be a camera made out of cheese.  That would be awesome.  Awesome to the max.

Ghosted by Jeff @ 12/25/2006 7:18 AM EST

Merry Christmas, everyone.  It’s 5:30 in the morning, and I’m about to go help my parents prepare the traditional huge unhealthy eight-course christmas breakfast with le cheese.  My sister and her fiance should be showing up at about 7:00, and we’ll all eat way too much and then open presents.  I mean, half of mine are still on a UPS truck somewhere due to the great blizzard of ‘06, but that just means that Christmas Morning gets stretched out over several more days for me.  Hope everyone’s having a maximum of holly and jolly with a minimum of flaming rows with family members.

Ghosted by Olive @ 12/25/2006 11:01 AM EST

I just wanted to thank you, Matt, for such an awesome advent calendar this year. I realize how much work must go in to making just one entry, and you made 25 great ones this year. Great humor and, gasp, drama like we saw in this year’s advent calendar doesn’t just fall off a tree, so I just wanted to say I really appreciated and enjoyed it.

I’ll throw my hat in the ring and say that this year’s calendar was definitely the best. They just keep getting better and better every year, but this year’s topped them all. I especially loved the different running story lines this year: Knack’s mopishness and real-life Myspace blog, the self-realization of Mare, the return of Claire, Kuse being, well, Kuse, etc. All of the new characters were great: Box, Mare’s mother, Tigerboy, and the remarkablous James Lipton, to name a few.

But the best thing about the ‘06 calendar is that I actually found myself actually caring about Playmobil and Lego toys. In previous years (I’ve been reading it since ‘03.) they were just funny little stories, but you really elevated this thing that you do to a new level, Matt. You managed to bring little toys with painted faces to life, and give them real emotions and distinct voices. Plus, I could always count on at least one, usually more, hearty laughs each day.

Today’s “ending” and Kuse’s “Easter” comment yesterday, give me hope for a, dare I say it, “Lent calendar”! That would really by something. 40 more days of Kuse, Knacks, and Mare!

Anyway, it sounds like I’m gushing now, and you know what, I am. The calendar was really that great. So anyway, thanks.

Ghosted by Wilkins @ 12/25/2006 1:40 PM EST

I’m gonna go ahead and admit that the hidden ending gave me the heebie jeebies. For what it is an homage to, and for who were involved, as odd as that sounds. Tripped me out.

Good times.

I totally agree that this year’s Advent was amazing. Matt could totally write for Adult Swim or something.

It won’t be long before what I find the most unbearable part of Christmas–the part afterward where everybody brags online about all the loot they got and how richer they are than you.

Anyway, wow! I woke up this morning and found:
A new computer
Eight DVD sets
Five games for PS2 and three for DS, none of which suck
$1500 in cash
A flash drive (still don’t have one)
“The Complete Calvin and Hobbes”
A girlfriend
A job at Pixar starting January 1

I’m so happy!
…….Now back to reality. :(

Hahahahaha Mars, you have perfectly captured how I usually see other people’s fallout posts. But it makes me feel better when I see other people with smaller lists, and it makes me feel better to know that my smaller Christmas makes OTHER people with a smaller Christmas feel better. If that makes sense. Which I doubt.

Delurking because my wife said it was weird that I read this all the time and never post.

First off, Merry Holiday Season to everyone.  Hope you have enjoyed it.  I traveled enough this weekend that Christmas really didn’t seem real.

Second, great job on everything Matt.  I was a casual reader for many years but this year’s AC got me hooked.  I second whomever made the comment about caring about LEGO and Playmobile figures.  I tried to explain it to my wife and she just looked at me funny.  I have worked “taste the rainbow” into my every day vocabulary and have gotten her to do so also.  Thanks for all the work you put into this Matt, it makes the holiday season feel more holiday-y.

Last off, thanks to everyone who normally posts here, I feel like I know you a bit even though I have never said a word here.  Funny what a cult can do to you.

Merry Christmas everyone.

Merry Christmas still to all of you non-Eastern time zone people.

I’ve got a lot of comments to catch up on, but I wanted to say I hope everyone had a wonderful one. Thanks to everybody old and new for a great year, and Matt most of all, for everything. :) :) :)

Another lurker comes out. :-)
Great AC this year Matt, best one yet. Surprise endings = Best anything.

Anywho, hope you enjoyed your holidays and got what you wanted.

Oh BTW I’m also one of the youngins round here (19), and I wrote all of this on my Nintendo Wii. :-)

FINISHED. ALL CAUGHT UP. ATONED.
Even though Christmas has officially been over for 2 hours, I have finally gotten that monkey off my back and laughed A LOT.
Thanks Matt for the Advent Calendars… OFFICIALLY
I wasn’t around for the ‘02 edtion but I will fondly remember the humble beginnings in 2003 (my first year with the X-E organization). Having read them all now, they were all great and we thank you.

Mare Winningham fan art– if she were expecting Box the regular way, that is. Which she doesn’t. Which is why it’s fan art. Click my name.

G’Tron, not only do you rock, but your Mare drawing goes so far as to rock my socks

That Mare drawing is 10 kinds of brilliant, and just the knowledge that Mare Winningham fanart exists is fantastic.

Belated merry XMas to everyone! And a happy boxing day to you fellas in Canada. I sure am glad the holiday season is just about finished, as my brother travelled from Chicago to here in Raleigh this holiday, and he has overstayed his welcome.

I’ve been over all of God’s creation today looking for a DS. I’m not looking for a Wii. I’m not looking for a PS3. Nobody was supposed to buy their kid a DS for Christmas. It’s been out for ages. Parents need to start buying stuff for their kids WHEN THE KIDS ASK FOR IT. What a novel idea! Spread out the spending, instead of blowing your finances once a year.

Don’t put off til Christmas what you can buy today. It’ll make you feel good too. Not like you’re gonna get a Christmas bonus or something. You’re not Clark Griswold :P

And how can a Target in podunk have a full supply of Twilight Princesses, but Amazon be sold out? And no I’m not paying 70 bucks more on eBay for a DS. Grrrr.

Sigh. Now it’s all over. Siiiiiigh.

K-: If you’re okay with an electric blue DS, Amazon has ‘em in stock.  Free shipping, too.

I’m working on the Fallout post now, but it’s super long. :/  Hope everyone had a merry one.

I appreciate the effort Matt. But I do wanna DS Lite. Call me vain. I’ll even take Pink. Alright, alright, I’d actually kinda like a pink one :P

K-: Here you go!  (Hurry!)

It’s been so quiet around here today! I guess everyone’s playing with their new toys.

Yeah, I worked today. And my next day off is Sunday and I’m working fucking doubles all but one day until then.

My X-Box will get cold… :(

Work day here as well, and what a day it was. Looking forward to the fallout thread for a much needed boost of holiday cheer. :D
