Green & Silver Play-Doh Experiment.

In yesterday's entry, I asked for your help in naming things that are generally associated with the color combination of silver and green, because that's what Play-Doh gave me and lord knows I don't have 55,000 tubs of Play-Doh just chilling around the house. You had many answers. Too many answers. I picked five to try, and I'd like to say that they were chosen randomly, but I'd be lying.

Can of 7-UP, suggested by Lemont. Only he didn't specify "can." That was all me.

Green planet with silver craters, suggested by starwenn. I think starwenn knew that I only wanted to spend three minutes total on this project.

Green lightsaber with silver hilt, suggested by Old E. My favorite lightsaber from anything Star Wars, and the only reason why I pick green Fla-Vor-Ices over red and blue.

A dinosaur with braces, suggested by Kate.

Green Hulk versus Gray Hulk, suggested by Jeff as a spinoff of Jester's idea. I really wanted to give this one all it deserved, but please refer back to my earlier mandate of the three minutes total allotted to this project.

There's more than one way to kill an evening.

Re: Santa

I would suggest that before you discount any of Santa’s violent tendencies you go back and re-read some of the old Advent Calendars.

Also, I would have suggested a tree with silver garland if I didn’t forbid myself from thinking about/promoting Christmas before Thanksgiving.

I actually have to punish myself just for this post. Now where’s that Treehouse Trolls article…?

Ok, guys… This is absolutely not the thread for this, but I need your help. I’ve been looking for days, and I’m on my last ditch effort here. I’m looking for a movie I used to watch as a kid; I guess it was made in the 80s or so. It was about the Brothers Grimm, and it was basically a story that combined a bunch of their fairy tales into a plotline where the brothers had to get through this forest and ran into these fairytales on the way… I can picture it so clearly in my head, but there is no mention of it anywhere online, that I can find. I need some help! Anything you’ve got is great. Thanks, guys.

Nice, Matt, my favorite is the dinosaur, with braces.
I like thanksgiving, alot. But it does run second place to Christmas, in my book. It’s just that it’s one day. For Christmas you have holiday parties all month, presents to buy, so many songs etc.
Candance: cut and paste that, you might run across what you were looking for, few of those looked similar to what you were describing.

I personally think it is one of these:

Good luck Candace!!!

Man I feel left out that I didn’t suggest anything for the play-doh experiment. :( Oh well, it’s my own fault.

“on Donner, on Blitsen, on Chewy, Ontavo…andale vato!”
I don’t speak spanish. Anyway, very artistic Matt.
I love the 7-up can. I guess the red dot jumped off the can to cause mischief.

I saw Santa fight a Demon on MST3K. Both in the movie and down in Deep 13.

aw, crud.

Now I need to go home and watch “Santa Claus Conquers the Martians” on DVD. Maybe I can find the MST version this year.

I am currently working part time at a pre-school and I am turning into a semi-professional Play-Doh sculptor. I love it when the kids ask me to make really random things- I love a Play-Doh sculpting challenge!

My older cousin told me the truth about Santa on the school bus one day in December. So then I came home and ruined it for my little brother. Ha- misery loves company.

XD. Those are so cool. I friggin’ love that 7up can.

Chestnuts roasted by Rebecca @ 11/14/2006 7:17 PM

ehh… hulk looks as good as the movie

Chestnuts roasted by thejyav @ 11/14/2006 7:22 PM

Invader Norbert I dunno, I don’t think it would work as good as green paint and oatmeal.

I love watching conan when I can catch him (stay up that late) He’s did one of the commentaries for the simpsons (don’t ask me which one, I think “when bart became famous” because he was in that one) and it was very funny. I love the commetaries with John Lovitz (“a streetcar named marge” is one of them, I listened to that one twice actually because it was so amusing)

ahhh the simpsons…

Kingklash- I think SCCTM is still only available as part of the “Essentials” set with Manos: Hands of Fate. Because the distributors hate us, I guess. However, I still have an old VHS tape with the MST3K “Santa Claus Conquers the Martians” *and* the Mexican “Santa Claus” movie where Santa fights Pitch. I watch it every year and if the tape ever breaks, I’ll kill myself.

Chestnuts roasted by Welsh Rabbit @ 11/14/2006 7:46 PM

Welsh Rabbit
I got SANTA CLAUS CONQUERS THE MARTIANS confused with that Mexican Santa claus. I am not saying it was a dollar wasted but I think that the Mexican Santa Claus is much funnier/disturbing.

As to the Simpsons reference, it was on in the background and it crept into my post.

Chestnuts roasted by The Manimal @ 11/14/2006 10:09 PM

what are these “VHS tapes” that you speak of

Chestnuts roasted by drbong @ 11/14/2006 10:50 PM

That’s cool Manimal, that’s cool.

And to talk about what everybody else is talking about, my Grandma bought Santa Claus Conquers the Martians a long time ago, she is known for buying cheap vhs tapes (well she used to, with kids videos for us, we have a lot of public domain cartoon tapes) the most fasinating part is when they ate the pills for dinner (mash potato pills, meat loaf pills etc.) I thought that would happen in real life eventually. And the sleep chambers. They are so excited they have needed to rest in the sleep chambers recently!! The kids are too excited because they have been watching earth tv a lot lately and watching santa claus! I don’t get it but I’m going to kidnapp santa claus though that might make things better. Weird cheesy movie, actually knowing the movie I would love to see the MST3K version.

OK, super-super nerdy here, but does anyone else really dig that new Target Christmas song they play? Man, I need that as an Mp3. It’s cool. Just an idea.

Speaking of Christmas music, I’ve been playing the Charlie Brown Christmas CD. Low key, jazzy and Christmasy. For some reason its the only Xmas music I can take this early.

Chestnuts roasted by Terror Claws Cole @ 11/14/2006 11:40 PM

Matt,
What, you didn’t want to painstakingly recreate Green Lantern and The Silver Surfer playing RBI Baseball on Christmas, as per my suggestion? I suppose that would take way more than two ornaments of Play-Doh, and more time than should be spent on such a venture.

Man, I just finished watching Ghoulies II. I’ve never seen it, but had to after noticing it was on Encore. After reading Matt’s review of it a while back, how could I not partake? What a great cinematic work that is…give or take about 15 painfully obvious flaws. My favorite one being the noticable pulse in Ned’s neck after he’s found dead. What fun! At least they saved money on editing.

Chestnuts roasted by Justin @ 11/15/2006 12:14 AM

Ghoulies II is one of my faves, and definitely my fave from the series. I’m pretty sure I mentioned it at some point, but there’s a great DVD that gives you GI and GII together, and I’ve seen it for under ten bucks. Definitely worth it, especially if you’re used to seeing the giant green toilet monster at the end of GII on a grainy VHS.

Chestnuts roasted by Matt @ 11/15/2006 12:20 AM

I got to see it in vivid digital cable magic! And I have to admit, it was awesome. “I’m a magician you sonsabitches!” Hahaha!

Chestnuts roasted by Justin @ 11/15/2006 12:26 AM

1-up mushroom – LOL! “doodle-lee-do”

Chestnuts roasted by Nizzler @ 11/15/2006 2:55 PM

Chestnuts roasted by vwarb @ 11/15/2006 10:41 PM

What, no 1-Up Mushroom from Super Mario Brothers?
Dammit!

Chestnuts roasted by Gabe Lerman @ 11/16/2006 6:47 PM

I can’t believe you picked mine! And it’s somebody’s favorite. Truly this is a magical holiday season indeed.

Buck up, tiny dino. Soon those braces will come off and you’ll have shiny American movie star teeth. Nobody will laugh at you for being a disembodied head THEN, by golly.

Thanks, Matt!
