10/22/2006: Scare Glow & Sally.

The Halloween Countdown welcomes Scare Glow, a rare Masters of the Universe action figure that arrived very late in the line, and subsequently had fans blowing gaskets because they didn’t know if he was meant to be Skeletor’s ghost or Skeletor’s…ghost.  If you were wondering who that weird dude up there in the home button graphic was all season, now you know.

Saw the 3D release of The Nightmare Before Christmas last night.  I’ve never been a devoted lover of the movie, which isn’t to say that it doesn’t deserve devoted love…it’s just that the film and I never really crossed paths much in the past.  Still a terrific movie and worth seeing on the big screen one last time.  As for the 3D upgrade…well, it works, but it’s definitely on the minor side considering that the film wasn’t made with 3D in mind.  The few times when stuff actually felt like it was flying off the screen were incidental, and by and large, I kind of sat there thinking that I would’ve preferred seeing the film in its original state, because it was a lot harder to successfully dunk nachos into cheese with sunglasses on.

Then again, maybe I have to take that all back, because we sat in the worst seats possible — like three rows from the front and all the way to the right.  We started off with better seats, but there was a row of little kids behind us making a ludicrous amount of noise, and by the time they began discussing which parts of the movie would make them yell the most during the previews (seriously), we zipped down to the front.  Surely the effects play out better when you’re not twisting your neck up-and-left Exorcist-style to see the screen.

Sadly, the glasses given out were generic and not at all done up with NBC logos or little white pumpkin graphics.  At least they let us take ‘em home.

Well, came here to download the X-E jukebox, and I find an article about MotU.  Cool!  Informal conversation starter:  What was your first Masters of the Universe figure?
Mine was Battle Armor Skeletor, received almost 22 years ago to the day (Oct. 24, 1984, my 6th birthday).
Care to share?

I’ve always felt similarly about Nightmare Before Christmas. Not that it’s not a good or great movie, it just never captured me. I watched Corpse Bride last night, and decided that I actually like it better, which I’d guess is a minority opinion.

damn. fourth.
I am hoping to catch TNBXmas3D, but worry about gooey-fingered vocally expressive children being there.  Or better yet, parents with an infant.

Whoa, I actually *own* a Scare-Glow figure still. I believe he’s still in my box of old toys in my basement, so I don’t know if he’ll be a successful object on eBay. It’s worth checking out, though.

The weird thing about MotU for me was that I didn’t get into action figures until later than others, so my collection is full of the later-day weird MotU figures. I had Scare Glow, Extendor (2, actually), and the robot cowboy dude. I should check out how much these are going for.

Hey! I also just saw Nightmare! Only our theatre gave us glasses that had bright green frames. I think I looked a little like Willy Wonka.

Our STUPID theatre had not one, not two, not three but FOUR technical glitches. The movie started and I was pumped; I missed this flick the first time in theatres, so I was very excited. Then the screen went totally green and a horrifying, ear-piercing buzzing noise filled the theatre. Very Halloweeny to scare the shit out of me, I guess. They said that the computer running the effects froze and that’s what happens when it does that. It took almost 20 minutes for them to get it back up and running. Multiply that by 4 and you’ve got a very cranky girl walking out of the fucking place, who, by the way, is damn well going to receive free tickets to this craptastic theatre.

Heads up to everyone going out to see the new 3-D version. It’s cool, but slightly dangerous experience. Good luck to the rest of you ghosts.

You know what Scare Glow reminds me of?

Does anyone here remember those crazy-rare Ecto-Glow Real Ghostbusters figures? They were the last figures ever in the original Real Ghostbusters line, and they had a similar cool glow-in-the-dark gimmick. I was suddenly reminded of those reading this article.

Never saw the appeal of Nightmare Before Christmas.
Or any of Burton’s other movies at that.

Hey Thorzul - Scare Glow wasn’t the first He-Man figure I ever had, but he was the first one I remember getiing STOLEN from me. Never recovered, either. *Sniff.*

Posted by Commander Awesome @ 10/23/2006 12:37 AM EDT

My first MOTU figure was Skeletor, and I know this because I have a picture of me with it two seconds after my brother gave it to me on Christmas Eve the year it came out — when I was technically too young to really know what the hell it was.  But I loved it.  It got the ball rolling.

Also, on the topic of avoiding kids when seeing NBC 3D…see a 10 PM show or later.  This was a 7 PM show, and it was saturated with youth.  And not the kind of youth you can eat.

Posted by Matt @ 10/23/2006 12:43 AM EDT

My first MOTU figure was Ramm-Man. Every boy had a Ramm-Man, whether you were into MOTU or not. Like “Frampton Comes Alive” in Wayne’s World, if you were a boy in suburbs living in the mid 80’s/early 90’s, you were basically issued one. I’ll confess, I wasn’t really into MOTU, I liked it, I had some of the other figures like Roboto & Skeletor, and a sleeping bag that my mom gave away not too long ago.

And Matt’s explanation of “Leader Figures,” do you remember some figures that you promoted to this position as a kid? I certainly did. With my Power Rangers figures, the ungodly huge Megazord figures that the other Zords merged with were considered the Gods, and I had a MacFarlane figure of a robotic ostrich that was called “Iron Express” as a boss of the evil ones (I liked playing the villain more for some reason) at point for some reason. With my Transformers obession, I have most of the Megatrons made, and some time a few years back, I had a mega battle to see which Megatron reigned supreme. I think the Transmetal 2 Dragon Megatron from Beast Wars ended up winning.

Posted by Invader Norbert @ 10/23/2006 12:57 AM EDT

I have him and his comic, both stuffed in a chest in my parent’s home where he’s been chillin for about 20 years now.

And you’re right, he quickly became king of all figures, easily replacing Skeletor himself.

Posted by Bryan @ 10/23/2006 12:57 AM EDT

Nothing better than a glow-in-the-dark skeleton. Glow-in-the-dark spiders are up there, though. I plan on catching NMBC later, once the crowds die down. If I hear anyone singing along during the movie it would totally ruin the experience forever, so the right time to go will be during school hours. I’m one of the fans who love the movie with a passion but hate the kids who trot around with tin NMBC lunchboxes and black sharpie fingernails, “identifying” with Jack :/

Posted by Eddie Lightning Frog @ 10/23/2006 1:06 AM EDT

I’ll be seeing NBC 3D at a brand new futuristic mall called Metropolis that just opened up an hour or so from me. I feel the same way about the movie too, it was cool, but nothing to go to a convention over. At least it got stop-motion animation a little more popular.

My first MOTU figure and love was Snout Spout.

My first master of the universe was Mossman, Well that was the first one I opened anyway, I got a bunch of them for christmas one year, I completely reuined him like 20 minutes later, he fell into the “THE SLIME PIT!!!!!” I hear thats how a lot of the Mossman figures whent out

My first MOTU figure was Evil-lyn.  I remember going into my TRU and picking her out.  Is it strange that I can still remember what my TRU smelled like when I was a kid?

Posted by MissJess @ 10/23/2006 4:16 AM EDT

I had a friend who was obsessed with NBC, and would have decorated her house in it if she could have found more stuff back then.  I never understood what was so great.  But then again, she wasn’t really into anything I was, either, aside from animals.

Come to think of it, I have no clue why we were supposdly such great friends. *shrug*

I don’t remember who my first “He-Man figure” was.  I assume it was He-Man.

Posted by jrh @ 10/23/2006 6:14 AM EDT

STILL haven’t seen NBC ever, 3D or not.  Hopefully it comes around to my theater here, but I doubt it will…

My first MOTU figure? Jeez, I am not really sure, but I think it was the He-Man with the scarred chest- you could flip a panel in his chest to change how much damage he received during battle.  I got into MOTU figures later than my brother- he had tons of them that I played with all the time, then I started begging for my own figures.

My first MotU fig was the first one they put out, standard vanilla He-Man.

Posted by Kid Nicky @ 10/23/2006 7:14 AM EDT

Never had MOTU figures, but the sons of my babysitter did.  When I was over there it was either He-Man time or Pro-wrestling figures.  I had never heard of this guy, but glowing in the dark adds an unfair advantage to the coolness of any toy.
I only ever go to the shows filled with kids.  But then again, I never go to movies not made for kids.  I saw Open Season this weekend.  It was as blah as most of the kid’s cartoons out there.  I’m looking forward to going to the Holiday movies this year.  But no matter how dissapointing a movie is, there’s still the popcorn, mmm.

Posted by kb @ 10/23/2006 8:24 AM EDT

I never actually had any MOTU figures, but I did have Battle Cat and Castle Greyskull. That kinda thing could screw a guy up.

Posted by Daniel85 @ 10/23/2006 8:31 AM EDT

My brother had the he-man sword, complete with batteries and light, I think. (Or was that the Thundercat sword?)

In sunny Apartheid SA, where in my youthful mind black people were gardeners and maids because they liked it (who knew?) only boys ever got he-man figures. And male thundercat figures. And thundertanks. My friend had every Thundercat except Panthro; her brother had Panthro and a Thundertank! So sexist! *Girls got Cheetara*!! I’m gonna need therapy for this…

I can remember all the adverts for he-boy - The Slime Pit!! Castle Grayskull!! Battlecat!! And Thundercats Berserkers, can’t think why. The slime pit one was the biggest non-sequitur. What slime pit? Where? Why does He-man need one? What’s it for? What’s so scary about slime? Although we had bombs in the local Wimpy, so slime was just not on the map. I spent my childhood looking for abandoned briefcases under restaurant tables. Screw the ANC. Aargh. :P

I love the Nightmare Before Christmas and I’ve started a tridition of watching it every year around this time sort of like It’s a Wonderful Life on Christmas.  But I agree about the 3-D.  Most of the time it wasn’t all that noticable.  I sort of wish I had saved the money and rented it or borrowed it from a friend.

Jesus! Am I the only person left who refuses to pay more than 5 bucks for a movie ticket?

Posted by dohopoki @ 10/23/2006 10:30 AM EDT

Scare Glow looks like a total badass.  It’s a shame Ninjor came off looking like a puss (if only he was, like, PIRATOR or something…).  Nightmare 3-D was cool, I’m sorry.  Yes, the 3-D did seem kinda withdrawn towards the middle of the flick, but I didn’t care.  The film is rules.

If only it had Scare Glow…

Jack:  Well Hello there!  And who might YOU be?
Scare Glow:  Speak, skull-face, before I scare you to death!
Jack:  (pisses himself)

Posted by Cid @ 10/23/2006 11:12 AM EDT

I may be dense, but I still don’t get ScareGlow’s origin.

I see that Skeletor summoned him, but from where?

Posted by Ubu Rex @ 10/23/2006 11:14 AM EDT

Never got into He-Man much. Probably because the only character I had was the stink dude. I guess if you put a cup or glass over him he would smell up the enclosed area. I traded him for two Hoth/snow storm troopers. Good trade.

Posted by Billy @ 10/23/2006 11:24 AM EDT

I know if I saw a glowing skeleton man with a scythe and a cape, I’d probably piss myself.

Unless it was on Halloween, then I’d give them a prize for best costume.

I believe I acquired a few MOTU figures all at once, so I can’t pinpoint my first figure.  However, I know my favorite…Lockjaw!  I like the fact that he had a jaw that no such locked as moved up and down.

I also remember being able to squeeze He-Man’s head. It was less than solid.

Posted by osubuckly @ 10/23/2006 11:42 AM EDT

Sorry you had a bad nightmare viewing..  I worked on the 3D conversion of that film, and I know how important a good seat is..  Just walking and changing seats in dailies gave the film a totally different look..

If you can try to, go back and watch it again in a good level, central seat..  you will be shocked how much better it looks!

NBX is my favorite movie of all time.  My entire bathroom is decked out in Jack stuff and I collect the action figures and any other little thing I run across.  So I was royally pissed when I found out the nearest theatre to me that was playing NBX3-D was four hours away.  I don’t know if I’ll get to see it or not, so I made myself feel better about not being able to see it on opening night by blowing the rest of my Halloween money on a two-and-a-half foot tall talking Jack figure with poseable arms and legs!  Woo!

As a side-note, it’s 58 degrees in my house and Nightmare on Elm Street is on.  I am a happy girl.

Doho, if I refused to pay more than $5 a ticket I’d never be able to see a movie. As it is, I just allow the outrageous ticket prices to discourage me from seeing many movies at all when I hear even the slightest reason to skip (and I never go before 9 pm if I can help it. It’s not so much the children as the goddamn teenagers. Kids don’t have cell phones, or at least they have the sense to silence them). There’s a reason I don’t need to bother seeing mediocre movies in the theater, and it’s called HBO :D. I actually paid $25 (!) for my ticket to Pirates of the Caribbean, but I know it was worth it whenever I see my McBoo-esque popcorn bucket sporting Davy Jones.
Too bad we can’t work “Speak, skull face!” in everyday conversation a la “I don’t want to think about chicken”.
“Good morning, thank you for calling. Speak, skull face, before I scare you to death!”

Actually, the first and only MOTU I ever owned was Trap-Jaw. I was never big into MOTU, but I just thought he was cool and made him the giant, cyborg bodyguard of Destro, who was the leader of my bad guy faction of action figures.

I’ve always thought Clamp Champ looked a little like OJ Simpson.

Scare Glow Skeletor is what I would equate as my “cup of Christ”. It has eluded me ever since I was a child. Master of the Universe was no longer all that popular at that stage of the game. The other “must have item” for me was the Eternia playset. I had Grayskull and snake mountain, how was I supposed to live without Eternia? If only I could go back in time and give my child self these sought after treasures. Scare Glow was and is genius. I remember seeing him for the first time on the back of another package being touted as “coming soon”. My first instinct was that Skeletor had finally been murdered. AND….AND!! SKELETOR WAS IN FACT SO EVIL AND BADASS, THAT HE CAME BACK FROM THE DEAD! GLOWING AND SHIT, NO LESS!
However, the comic above shows us otherwise.
Still, I’m a logic whore with certain things, so I pose this question:
“How can you be someone’s ghost AND their henchman?”
If this is true, it’s pretty fucking sweet to pimp out your own ghost and have him do menial grunt work.
As a side note I didn’t see Nightmare this weekend. It did have an averge of $19,000 per screen gross. I heard some folks were standing and sitting on the floor. I’ll just wait until wedsday , when the kiddies are in school. I saw it the first time, in an empty theater, when no one, including the media knew what to make of the film.

Posted by Jerry Horror @ 10/23/2006 3:42 PM EDT

I think I got the guy with the suction cup appendages first.  Then I got Orco and became addicted like it was crack.  I remember screaming into the microphone attached to Skeletor’s hideout for like a solid hour.  There was a trap door in there too.  He-Man was the only one who didn’t fall for it.  Stupid Man-At-Arms, must suck to have a name that is only a description of yourself.  I wonder when Photog is coming out??? ;)

Scare-Glow is pretty awesome. I don’t think I had him, but I did have Extendor. Man, I can’t believe Halloween is almost here.

The first MOTU figures I got were the regular He-Man,Skeletor,Beast Man,and (maybe) Mer-Man,which my brother and got for Christmas, along with Castle Greyskull,in 1982. I can still remember the smell of new plastic Skeletor’s rubbery head gave off. My brother and I eventually got all the major MOTU playsets, even Eternia, over the years in the eighties.

It sucks that the recent MOTU revamp didn’t take with kids nowadays. I hope Mattel tries again in a few years, the toy aisle just isn’t the same without the techno-medievel goofy charm MOTU has.

Posted by Overlord @ 10/23/2006 5:09 PM EDT

My first MOTU was some crappy gray bird-man. His name was probably “Bird Man”.  It was when they first came out and I traded something to a kid at school.  I didn’t really care which one I got, I just wanted to play HeMan with the other kids.

I haven’t seen a movie in the theater since “attack of the Clones” and before that it was “Something About Mary”.  It’s a hassle for me and too expensive.

I got Scare Glow, Ninjor, Mosquitor, King Randor, the Sorceress, and Clamp Champ for my birthday twenty years ago this November. It was frickin awesome, because I thought this was the coolest wave of figures yet.  I remeber my mom asking my dad if I was too old for He-Man toys (I turned twelve in ‘86).  Thinking back, that was a pretty bizarre question.

Posted by Bludge @ 10/23/2006 6:30 PM EDT

Posted by vader time time time @ 10/23/2006 6:54 PM EDT

Squee, I feel exactly the same way about Corpse Bride. That movie had a plot and character development, NMC3D can’t say the same thing. I agree that you mostly don’t even notice it’s a 3D movie (and we were in great seats, right in the middle), but I guess the good part is it’s paving the way for digital theaters to show movies *made* for 3D. That’ll be cool.

The first MOTU figure I had was She-Ra, and one Christmas I got her castle. I was so impressed that she had her own REAL BED with a foam mattress and pillow and everything. At the time I loved her satin sheets, but now I think maybe they make her look a little slutty.

And I was so right in the last post about kids/adults being strangely drawn to glowing things. You can buy glow-in-the-dark polymer clay if you ever want to make your own figures/jewelry… last Halloween I made black beads with GITD skulls in them, I’ll have to dig those out again. Take that, company dress code!

Posted by Welsh Rabbit @ 10/23/2006 7:17 PM EDT

I remember watching the He-Man cartoon and having the original figures of He-Man,  the cats, Adam, Skeletor, Evil Lynne, and Teela but that was pre She-ra. Once there was her toys and the cartoon, I had no more interest in He-man being a girl and all.

I do remember there being a glow in the dark She-ra figure that I had though. Sweet-Bee. I wonder if she was released around the same time as this Skeletor’s Ghost because of that similar feature.

Posted by Angelcake @ 10/23/2006 7:45 PM EDT

Not only did I own Scare Glow, but my version came with a scythe that ALSO glowed in the dark! It is entirely possible that my brother has hime somewhere. I’ll have to dig around and see.

Matt,

Thanks for bringing back the fond memories.  I had this guy, and ot him, Ninjor, the Sorceress and I think King Randor one Christmas.  Guess who immediately stood out as the best of the bunch?  Well, being too young to really read, we just assumed he was Skeletor returned after his fall to death in the MOTU movie.

Skeletor’s goat headed staff thingie. The Havok Staff.

Posted by AoDfan @ 10/23/2006 8:37 PM EDT

I’ve been to the movies twice this year, but both time to see flicks at a theater in Vorhees (no, not the Jason variety) that specializes in small and independant films. I really have no interest whatsoever in “Nightmare Before Christmas” (other than agreeing that Halloweentown in “Kingdom Hearts” was one of the best rounds).

Let’s see. I THINK Prince Adam was my first MOTU figure. My sisters and I had Battle Armor Skeletor and He-Man, Adam, the bird version of the Sorceress, and Skeletor’s purple panther, but we’d pretty much switched our allegiance to She-Ra by the time these figures were released. I never even heard of Scare-Glow until this article, which is a shame, because he DOES look pretty damn cool. Mom eventually gave our He-Ma figures (except for the panther) to our cousin.

The one great thing to come out of Shaun of the Dead showing on Comedy Central, edited as it most likely will be, is all the new people that will come to love that movie.  Need proof?  I’m sure Mallrats running for years on the same channel edited didn’t hurt Kevin Smith with ‘Jay and Bob’ and ‘Clerks 2′.  I hope the SotD guys continue on; ‘Spaced’ was an awesome TV show and ‘Hot Fuzz’ already looks funny as hell.  Imagine if they could go on and make all the different genre flicks they want to?…sorry, I ramble at times….

I didn’t know that Comedy Central used to air Mallrats all the time. Seems like they’re always playing Dogma nowadays.
Forget about Shaun (until Saturday, anyway). The real Comedy Central news is That’s My Bush FINALLY hits DVD tomorrow.

“He’s the president in residence, he’s kinda in charge,
He’s got the whole country singin’ That’s My Bush!
Life is hard, that’s the price of fame, when you’re president everyone knows your name.
Hey, what’s that thing?
It’s my Bush!
I can’t beleive he’s actually in the whitehouse,
That’s our mayyyyyyoooon!
That’s My Bush!

I’ve missed enough reissues in my lifetime. I never re-saw the Star Wars trilogy in theaters, and TWO local places in town have shown 40MM prints of Raiders and I wasn’t there. Regardless if the 3D is that good or not, I feel kind of obligated to somehow find a way into a theater playing NBC sometime this weekend. Besides, Knick Knack in 3D seals the deal.

Some of the mini-comics introduced more than a single character, and in Scare Glow’s case, his comic was shared with six other then-new figures — Blast-Attak, Clamp Champ, Ninjor, The Sorceress, King Randor and a revamped Faker.

Now, I know the targeted audience of boys wouldn’t have much interest in purchasing a girl character, but did they really hold off on making a Sorceress figure until 1987? Wow, she really got the shaft.

well if that’s true i hope comedy central starts showin harold and kumar hacked up, the world needs more harold and kumy sequels!

“Randor”? Sexually repressed animators strike again?

If you like NBC *and* British humour, go get your hands on Terry Pratchett’s “Hogfather”, a completely different take on the Santa-displaced-by-Death. This time, Santa - um, “hogfather” - is put out of commission by a mad assassin named Mr Teatime, at the behest of the tiny ghostly accountants who audit everything in the universe (life is messy - get rid of it so we can finish the filing!!). So Death fills in to keep the hogfather alive while Death’s ‘grandaughter’, Susan, saves the (disc)world … again.

Honestly, being the relative of an undead anthropomorphic personification is, like, so tedious.

Did anyone else watch FUSE TV’s Chainsaw Awards Sunday night?

It’s also worth noting that the mini-comic was drawn by Bruce Timm of Batman The Animated Series fame.

Hey everyone.  Just came in to tell you that on the History Channel tonight is an “History of Zombies.” special.

I liked the short-lived CN He-Man cartoon from a couple of years ago.  Too bad it didn’t last.

Conan O’Brien is going to have a special episode Hallowe’en Night.  In the vein of the hilarious claymation episode, he will present another “recast”, this time with SKELETONS!  Yes, an all-skeleton show.  Taking the soundtrack from a show broadcast in May, we’ll be presented with the wonder of boney versions of Conan, The Max Weinberg 7, Omar Epps, and Skeleton Pole Dancing!  I need to find a blank tape!

The first He-man toys I remember getting were he-man, that car that moved when you pulled a rip cord thorugh it, and castle greyskull for christmas in 1985.  Best christams ever.

I hear that the “Stonie” awards are happening tonight, with Dave Chappelle, Tommy Chong, and Ethan Hawke as some of the presenters.

The gas station I was at today had free samples of Coke Blak, so I finally tried it….meh.

I got a new tattoo 2 weeks ago, and the tattoo artist had awesome NBC figures in his office- one really cool one of Jack in a coffin, and the girl character as well (I still haven’t seen the film).  Also, he had Mulder and Scully figures from X-Files that really rocked.

Funny, I watched Shaun of the Dead last night.  I bought the Region 2 DVD before it reached American cinemas because I heard so many good things about it.  I catch something new each time I watch it, the humor is so subtle yet hilarious (if you like British humor).  As for the NBC 3D, no one near me is showing it so I’ll just have to go without.  We have already watched the NBC DVD twice this season and listened to the soundtrack numerous times on haunted house/forest road trips.  I’ll live.

Hmm, I totally missed the He-Man craze.  I was growing out of action figures when these arrived, didn’t even buy and Return of the Jedi toys even though I was a Star Wars freak.  Now Mego figures, I LOVED those and would love to have mine back.

Scare-glow is cool albeit after my He-man days- Hordak (of the Evil Horde) knocked Skeletor off the perch for me.

Did anyone else almost get high when smelling Moss Man’s fur?  It stunk soo good.

Scare Glow is AWESOME. I’m lucky enough to have one (still form my childhood. He sits on my desk with a working Mosquitor….

Scare Glow’s “Scythe of Doom” looks a lot more like a Halberd than a Scythe……..

Funny… the back packaging includes a picture of Extendar. I swear I have an Extendar toy lying around. Holy Recycling Center! 0_0

For some reason I could not post this earlier…but did anyone else practically get high from smelling Moss Man’s furry green moss?  He stunk so good.

Woo hoo! Monster House is out. Love that movie!

Moss man stinks so good, he sits on my windowsill at work next to Stinkor, Snarf, and Leonardo; while Mr.T guards my computer from a stelthy Storm Shadow. So it’s pretty clear that my desk is an awesome battle ground/arena/thunder dome.

Anyone else turn their desks into playsets?

Wow, I completely remember sharing your confusion about what being the “Ghost of Skeletor” meant.
I’m pretty sure that when playing with my action figures, skeletor would get his ass kicked around a little by he-man, and then Scare Glow would rise from his remains.
I spent waayy to much money for the re-releases of the MOTU figures at Toys R Us just to smell Moss Man again…

I really liked this article.  I had thunder punch heman - but I liked my A-Team figures and my Rocky figures better.

Posted by Mr. T @ 10/26/2006 11:23 AM EDT

wow thanks so much for this article, earlier this year a friend and I were talkin about MOTu and i brought up this figure but couldnt for the life of me remember the name, same with Extendar who i strangely always called Tower of Power for years now, lol. Scare Glow was def an awesome figure tho, i remember holding him out the car window and watchin his cape blow, lol.  Sadly all i have left of him is his cape which has been used for countless generations of action figures.  No idea what actually happened to him. Sad how few MOTU figured are left in my collection. Still got the bases tho

Matt! I just read your Modulok article, and must say, I’m impressed. It invoked some pretty classic feelings… So much so, that I decided to bust out my old Moduloks and MultiBot, and create a gigantic beast for you .

It took a long goddamned time to sort through all my parts to create the best beast. But, it was an effort I undertook to perhaps caress your woes on not ever owning multiple figures….

Posted by Michael @ 10/26/2006 10:18 PM EDT

Wow, ScareGlow is a pretty cool action figure. I smells a bit of hypocricy in him when he refers to Skeletor as “Skullface” though. T’would be like Donatello calling Leatherhead “Reptileface.”
I was also surprised to see they made a Sorceress figure. I never knew. I would’ve loved to have her as wee one. Methinks she’s got some hotness Teela and She-Ra lacked.
