X-Entertainment loves Christmas and will not stop talking about it, ever.

Ribs Mocca.

Sorry about the no-Countdown TWICE this week, but it waddn't my fault! It waddn't! There were SEVERE WINDS around these parts, which knocked our power out until late last night. When it finally came back on, the cable modem was still out, and only now am I finally able to say "hi" on the Internet. Next week will be very very full, if it's any consolation. (Yeah, I could technically whip up a Saturday entry, but then I'd waste so much time that next week would also miss one, and blah blah AHHHH.)

Also, since we're getting really close to the Day of Reckoning, starting Monday, there will be new Halloween Countdowns every day until Halloween -- including next weekend.

Anyway, without power, we department store hopped last night, ultimately ending up at K-Mart since it was the last one to close. Though they've already mostly moved onto Christmas, I found another ton of Halloween stuff -- so much stuff that I fear I'll never get to it all this year. Oh well. I don't know how many of you have trolled around K-Mart in the black of night, but these stores get mighty weird near closing time. Like, last night they announced an 80% discount on all merchandise stationed on three crude shelving units near the entrance, and within seconds, a parade of zombies crowded around to fight over 1.00 discontinued flea collars and 2.00 sparkle paint sets. Pandemonium at the Big K. Less advertised but even cooler was a major clearance sale on a big aisle full of toys -- I saw a bunch of those cool King Kong figures, ones I didn't already have, but they had no price sticker, and the last thing I wanted to put some poor store girl through at 10 PM on a Friday night was finding out how much a "King Kong Battling Dinosaur" figure set was marked down. Maybe next time. If there is a next time.

Time to get to work. Do the SNT thing.

KB- That’s a great idea- make sure your son has one or two good years of Santa coming to your house. Good stuff.

GOOB- That would have been a shitty job anyways. Trust me- I did 2 years of various call center work. Ugh.

tommy- I agree. But, most of the problems were with the script, more so than the director. The things that happened in that movie were just WRONG. And it didn’t have the same great ‘feel’ as the first 2.

I am now the proud owner of a smiling/winking Jack-O-Lantern!! I put my carving skills to good use last night.

Yeah I agree, the way things went down felt so wrong. It was like an X-Men exploitation film or something.

My mother is playing Christmas carols in the kitchen. I think there’s something seriously wrong with my family.

My problem with X3 was that by the end of it, absolutely nothing signifigant happened in this movie that won’t/can’t be easily reversed. I would almost bet money that come X4, it will be as if 3 may as well have never happened.

No no no. Ratner never gets a pass. He took full credit for that movie when it was #1, so he can get the criticisms too. Not that I’ve seen it.
Are both those posts really from Muppet Baby, or was there a mix-up there?
How’s your Sunday, everybody? I’m still feeling like ass twice warmed over, but sounding like Froggy from the Little Rascals has at least gotten me off the hook for a family function today. If it keeps me off the phones at work tomorrow I’ll be two for two.
I’ve been thinking about Goob’s crappy former place of employment, and the horrible service I’ve gotten from various call centers…I would have thought that outside of complete computer ineptitude or a speech impediment there isn’t much that would be a dealbreaker, but I’ve been lucky enough to never work in a call center. Better luck next time, Goob.

Nothing much on my end, except that I watched SNL too. John C. Reilly = good. Overall material = not as good. The monologue, Williamsburg, the A-Holes, Harpoon Man, the Oreo bits & WU were my favorite parts.

Once again, MCR sucked. Thank X-E that Hugh Laurie & Beck (real comedian, real musician) are next week!

I hope that does happen doho! I really hope your right!

Goob, sorry to hear about the job. People are stupid suck!

I am going crazy, it has been raining for like a million years. I don’t even remember the last time I left the house. Im just happy that my little dude has decided to take a 4 hour nap today. He will be the reason I go from normal crazy to, lock me up and throw away the key crazy.

Beck. Meh. After Odelay, for the most part, it was all downhill, IMHO. I’ve wanted to get Sea Change, but I never have. Pretty good song from it was in Eternal Sunshine. I liked Stereopathetic soulmanure.

I still kinda wish they had segued from Cancer into Famous Last Words. That would have owned.

“I’m not afraid to keep on living/I’m not afraid to walk this world alone/ Honey if you stay, I’ll be forgiven/Nothing you can say can stop me going home”

Of course I pre-ordered the limited edition box covered in Velvatine (ooooh!!), but I just found out the regular version will only be 9.99 at Best Buy. Sweetness.

There was a Muppet Baby imposter on here! I didn’t double post.

Just got back from a second hand clothing store Halloween costume hunt. I found a sparkly tank top and a snakeskin leather skirt- I guess I’m gonna go as an 80s punk rocker chick. Now all I need is a cool wig and crazy make up.

Yeah, I can’t begin to express how disappointed I was in X3….especially since I had to drive 2 1/2 hours to see it. Sigh.

Hmm, that was me after you Muppet Baby. Weird.

Doho, I agree that nothing mattered in X3. Putting the little ”teases” at the end of Magneto and Xavier basically said “We were just kidding!”

thanks everybody! I just quit 3 weeks ago a call center job from hell (Vesta/Randstad anyone know of this company?) but I was willing to give this one a shot. This current job that I got fired from was laid back, you didn’t need to stick to a script, you dial over and over to try to find a warm body (a human being) and I enjoyed it for the few hours I worked there. That boss was kinda a dick, but that might be how he feels he has to do his job, because he would be really nice and then really agressive. I am applying for the local grocery outlet and I am going over there tomorrow (someone told me that a checker’s last day was today, the 22nd) and so hopefully I am not too late to get hired there!! I would love to get first dibs on the groceries! I know that sounds lame, but it’s an outlet store, they get like 20 cases of discount price uh like some kinda cookie that you don’t see around that often and it’s a good deal on it. Like working at goodwill but with food lol. And the job doesn’t seem that stressful like with vesta/randstad augh. I just can’t take people yelling at me one after another either I am stupid and I messed up (their opinion, I mean shit happens) or the company has been dicking them and they have to yell about it to you for a long time. it was also boring as hell.

My roommate is making burgers, mash potatos, and steamed veggies and that’ll cure my pains! I am trying really hard to be psyched about halloween but I might not be able to afford trick or treating candy :( I’m crossing my fingers!

Exactly tommy! Kill a thousand nameless characters with no screen time and make sure we know that all signifigant changes to all signifigant character didn’t really count. It was written like TV show that relys on keeping status quo. Don’t they realize the next movie isn’t a week away?

Chestnuts roasted by dohopoki @ 10/22/2006 8:21 PM

I liked the Harpoon Man and A-Holes at the Gym bits, but other than that I couldn’t really find anything else that was great.

You’ve got to love Russ Meyer, he was such a character. And as for Ed Wood, his films are indeed bad (and i don’t mean it in a good way either), but I have seen worse than his stuff.

I am also upset at X3 for totally taking the X-Men franchise and changing all that it stood for. Stan Lee should be shot for approving this script. I mean Professor X, the whole thing with Phoenix (her origin for starters), Beast looking like a douchebag, I mean I really did not like this movie.
