Never really liked Rice Krispies treats. Does that make me sacriligeous or something?

First?

also, gamestop and eb are starting wii reservations tomorrow! i just drove by the nearest store and people are already camping out, so you gotta get there early since most stores are only getting 15-30 core systems.

i miss those rice krispie squares commercials where people would put flour on their faces to make it look like it took hours to make them. As if someone would ever fall for it, seeing as its pretty obvious there actually is no flour needed in the rice krispie making process…as soon as someone offered me a rice krispie square and had flour on their face, i’d say, u can’t trick me, and that aint icing sugar! and throw the rice krispie square right in their face with an explosion of flour everywhere!

Does anyone remember Rice Krispie Treats Cereal? It was exactly what it sounds like, little mounds of RCT in a bowl that you pour milk on? Although they were sligtly harder than a regular RCT.

Also, AOL In2TV now has a Halloween channel showing old horror films, short-lived horror shows, and Halloween specials (Casper, Flinstones, and Bugs Bunny.)

Mmm, I love Rice Krispies Squares, I’m sure I would love them more with added sugary treats on top! I dig your little Rice Krispies dudes.

Rice Krispie treats were part of the mythical childhood treasures that were only found at friends’ houses. My mom was big on “good health” and “nutrition” and other crap that meant the only baked goods we regularly made were oatmeal cookies. Call it a cookie all you want, it tastes like ground up drywall. And raisins are disgusting.

Anyway, Rice Krispie treats are delicious, and I just realized I’ve never made them. I need to fix that soon… but since I just found the cutest mini peanut butter cups at Trader Joe’s, I have to make chocolate chip cookies with the cups instead of chips. They’ll be at least 50% more awesome than the regular kind. Ooh what about Rice Krispie treats with mini peanut butter cups? I need to do some experimenting.

Rice Krispy Treats are so good. And the cereal was awesome, but it kindof almost hurt your mouth to eat it because it was pretty sharpe.

You DON’T use flour when making Rice Krispie Squares. Well, fuck. No wonder mine always came screeching in agony.

Might have also been the souls of children I mixed in, but hey, sometimes you need to spice things up.

holy crap. im gonna have to make rice krispie treats very soon. all while simultaneously trying to make an accurate abe lincoln with one hand.

my mom only ever made me jello jigglers. they were cool. except when the napkin got stuck to the bottom and you had a pumpkin shaped piece of mega-jello and paper in your mouth…true story.

Chestnuts roasted by brianfax @ 10/13/2006 12:34 AM

I’m proud to be in that 1%. =)

If only there was a way to make food look as good as it does in recipe book photos..

Drat…remind me to never read the site when I’m hungry! Now I’m craving them! Guess I’ll just have to make some! ;)

Chestnuts roasted by Moony @ 10/13/2006 12:44 AM

That Jason pumpkin is awesome.

Chestnuts roasted by mudogramx @ 10/13/2006 1:13 AM

Chestnuts roasted by dohopoki @ 10/13/2006 1:34 AM

Hahahahahaa, I had to google Boris Pickett to remember who he is. Check out his awesome site!

Also, damn you Eddie, you know I can’t afford a Wii!

Chestnuts roasted by Tommy @ 10/13/2006 1:36 AM

it’s only $50 down! and if you can get your hands on one its a guaranteed higher resale in the first month or two :D

Chestnuts roasted by Eddie Lightning Frog @ 10/13/2006 1:48 AM

I wouldn’t be too sure about that Eddie, Wii isn’t high end tech that’s going to be hard for Nintendo to produce. They have had them in production for a while now and still have a month till release. They’re going to be able to push these things out and I bet the second wave of hardware will be out in no time.

Chestnuts roasted by dohopoki @ 10/13/2006 2:07 AM

nintendo is making enough, but the the eb/gs franchises are hoarding them for bundles, like the xbox 360 ‘omega’ ones they tried to sell for $2k. plus you can always bank on christmas moms paying extra on ebay because the store down the block is sold out when they call.

Chestnuts roasted by Eddie Lightning Frog @ 10/13/2006 2:11 AM

Hmm, i’ll probably try to preorder but miss the boat.

Speaking of Nintendo, have you guys seen this Nintendo Amusement Park prototype these guys are building? It sounds cool if they could ever get the funding they want.

Clicky

Chestnuts roasted by Tommy @ 10/13/2006 2:12 AM

Nintendo would’ve made a great amusement park, 10 years ago.

I read they plan to have 1 million Wii ready for launch. If each EB is only going to have 15-30, I don’t really this as hording.

Chestnuts roasted by dohpoki @ 10/13/2006 2:19 AM

per store I meant.

Chestnuts roasted by dohopoki @ 10/13/2006 2:20 AM

nonono they are getting more but are only letting that few go because theyre saving the rest for overpriced bundles. you cant just buy the core systems. im gonna try my luck at toys ‘r’ us. p.s. a lot of sources say 2 million wii, not 1.

Chestnuts roasted by Eddie Lightning Frog @ 10/13/2006 2:29 AM

“Rice Krispies TreatMeat…” Sickeningly funny.

Chestnuts roasted by PerfectPrice @ 10/13/2006 2:39 AM

Damn you, Matt! I got in a fight with my mom at the grocery store because she was trying to get me to make her Rice Krispies Treats and I didn’t want to (I’m the family baker, apparently). Now I’m gonna hafta suck up my pride and admit to her that I’m secretly dying to make them.

But I want to make bat-shaped ones! Ooo! An excuse to buy new cookie-cutters!!!!

And to think if I wouldn’t have had a severe case of insomnia tonight, I never would have had this problem. Well… until tomorrow when I read the Countdown anyway.

Chestnuts roasted by broomstickjockey @ 10/13/2006 2:48 AM

There are very few treats I get cravings for, but Rice Krispies are one of them. And they’re something I never get sick of. I can eat them until I get physically ill, then go back for more. They’re just so good. So simple and delicious.

I don’t understand why the boxes always have directions for making snakes and kites with licorice tails and stuff… what’s wrong with rectangles? That’s all I ever got as a kid, and these brats should be DAMN happy to get ‘em too!

Chestnuts roasted by Ronald MacKinnon @ 10/13/2006 2:56 AM

Just saw spooky shape cookie cutters in the famous $1 section at Target that would be perfect, especially the adorable little Frankie face. I think I might have to copy this for the office Halloween party. Not out of any particular appreciation for the coworkers, of course, just as an excuse to indulge in making them. They’d be a huge hit, too.
