X-E Visits Halloween Playland!

Dead leaf on the windshield, dead leaf on the windshield, I so need to write a song, about the dead leaf on the windshield.

It's starting to get nice and pretty and orange and yellow outside, but probably not as much as I'd like it to be, because we keep having weather that could fly in July if it tried hard enough.

Speaking of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, has anyone seen the new movie? I've already read all the spoilers like a big brat, but I'm just curious if it's any good, since reviews have seemed so "absolutely yes" or "absolutely not." I do know that, whether brilliant or banal, New Line is treating it like a real horror movie, and that alone might be enough to get me to yay out loud. I wouldn't say that the 2003 remake grew on me upon subsequent viewings, but I'm at least able to appreciate it for what it is instead of worrying about what it could've been. Hopefully, with less of a reason to compare it to anything, the new film manages to be entertaining without a "but."

Joining the Halloween Countdown for Monday is something quite very lots much really cool. A local lawn/flower/plant/fertlizer store transforms into the wondrous Halloween Playland in October, consisting of a pumpkin patch, inflatable funhouses, grim reapers and a portapotty full of fake shit. This entry deals with the ambiance; tomorrow's entry will cover all the fun stuff I bought there.

Up until now, I’d never cared about pumpkin patches. But thanks to the magic of X-E, I’m all hyped to go check one out, and thanks to the Internet, pumpkin patch listings are easy to come by. Click my name for the “Pumpkin Patches and More” site, which provides listings for the US, the UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. Or repeat my name six hundred and sixty-six times in your bathroom mirror at midnight, and be horrified as you pass out sometime around repetition four hundred and twenty-two, and wake up face-first and sobbing in the toilet.

And Matt, I’ve got a few items you might appreciate. One’s a “Freddy vs. Jason” tie-in, the “Killer Trivia” game (like Trivial Pursuit, but all the questions are about the Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street films). Another is the super-ultimate-wowee-deluxe edition of the “Bat Organs” series – this one comes with a brain, lungs, heart and stomach. (Slap a spleen and an anus in there and you’ve practically got the whole package, not that you should ever slap a spleen or anus for any reason ever.) I’d planned to give them to my brother, but his wife thought they were gross and didn’t want my little nephew finding them. So they’re getting the B&N exclusive “Great Pumpkin” boardgame instead, and the Killer Trivia and Bat Stuffing can be passed on to someone else.

Interested?

No problem.

Also i’m sure people on here would love to, for those who don’t already, although it’s not been mentioned.

Halloween is being shown in select theatres across the US for 2 NIGHTS ONLY Oct 30-31st.

Pretty big stuff. Sucks they do it the one damn year i’m not in the country, just my luck.

Dead leaf in the air,
Dead leaf in the air.
It floats through autumn skies.
Cannot tell its size.
When it finally comes down,
Will it crush the town?
Dead leaf in the air.

for some reason, that fake toilet reminded me of the bathroom area in the Psychoscareapy house when i first went to Halloween Horror Nights in 2003.

I went to Target today to kill some time in between classes, and checked out the Halloween section. And what to my wondering eyes did appear? CREEP-DISH PIZZA! A box divided into five or six “slices” filled with “gross” candies. You had your gummie worms, eyeballs, and other stuff I don’t remember. I wanted it for the box art alone, but it was 4.99, and I’m a wuss. I googled it and i-mockery is already on top of it. Click my name to see (scroll down).

I still remeber the Pumpkin Family show…it was a cheesy family run touring pumpkin patch aorund the monmouth county nj areas…This old guy would dress like a scarecrow, and play songs on a piano..and then you’d go to the Pumpkinhead family show…these scarecrow looking pumpkins with hair were sitting on top a black stage…and people underneth were doing the voices…soo cheesy but FUN…last time i went i was like 13…lol my bro and i were dying from laughter…

Matt- If you’re ever in Orlando during October, you’ve GOT to check out Halloween Horror Nights at Universal. They do it up old school horror movie-style, and it is absolutely the most terrifying thing I’ve ever experienced, and I’m not easily scared by horror. My favorite is going inside the Psycho house and the Universal “Hacklot.” One guy ahead of us literally pissed himself last year. :D Definitely worth the trip for all horror fans.

Doing the Halloween thing tonight. I haven’t really been in autumn mode since I have been in W. Palm FL. It might be me but palm trees really suck the ween out of Halloween. This dude down the street has those leaf bags that double as pumkin decoration so I was curious what they were filled with. Not leaves. Yep, actual garbage. Swear to God! I miss the north.I’m in tonight with a pumkin, newspaper, knife and the movies The Changeling and Garfield’s Halloween. I’m forcing the season this year.

Nothing But Trouble? As in Chevy Chase, Demi Moore, Dan Aykroyd, etc.???

I saw it like once and was absolutely enthralled. Gonna have to see it again.

First of all, Happy Thanksgiving to all the Canucks! Eat a turkey drumstick for all of us south of your border who have to wait until next month. ;)

I decided to use this gorgeous day off to ride around and run random little errands at various small dollar stores, drug stores, and grocery stores in Haddon Township, since I hadn’t been there in a few months. As I walked my bike up the steep hill to the Westmont Plaza shopping center, I got a bit of a surprise. Instead of selling swing sets and trampolines, the first store in the 70s-era mall was now a Halloween costume store. I was in search of Halloween decorations anyway, so I locked the bike and took a peek.

A few glances at some of the apparel told me I could buy similar stuff for cheaper at department stores and dollar stores, but that didn’t stop me from walking around for almost an hour. They really had a good selection despite the prices. Slutty adult costumes. Sweet adult costumes. Serious adult costumes. Scare-the-hell-out-of-you adult costumes. Kids’ costumes in the same genres. Huge inflatable pumpkins, ghosts, and vampires. Giant plastic “rotted” monster heads. Everything to make your own graveyard, from “gravestones” to signs. The place had “Matt” written all over it, and indeed, that was the first thing I thought when I entered the door, that this kind of place would be Matt’s second home at this time of year.

The best Halloween attraction I ever went to was a three-story haunted warehouse in Kansas City. The best part was the slide at the end- it went from the third floor all the way to the first floor.

On an unrelated note, click my name to see some pics from the set of the new Transformers movie. I bet these have all been posted elsewhere, but it’s a nice conglomeration.

YES. Definitely Halloween Horror nites. I have made it a point twice to travel to Orlando around Halloween JUST to be able to go to Universal Studios. Totally worth the money to have people chase you with chain saws through a fog-filled theme park on the way 2 all the different haunted houses with themes that make you feel like you’ve lived through every halloween horror movie . If you have the means I highly recommend it. it is SO choice. ;)

I just went to Trax Farms myself this weekend. It has awesome fresh pressed apple cider, and hay rides and such for the kids. My daughter rode a horse, fed sheep, rode a train, went on a hayride, made her own cider, AND picked out a 20 lb. pumpkin all for like 30 bucks. I had fun with the haunted attractions this weekend as well. Myself and the old lady went to “Station Scare” , which is a huge 10 block haunted attraction. This thing is designed every year by Tom Savini, but this year he teamed with George Romero to make one of the greatest haunted scary things on the planets. My daughter had her farm fun, and I screamed like a little bitch 7 or 8 times. I love Halloween.
