McMonopoly, Bat Organs and MLP.

Someone bought-and-brought McDonald's in for lunch at work today, and her cup marked a special day: The return of the McDonald's Monopoly game, which I will never ever win but will continue to play anyway, for all of time! I'm pretty sure everyone in the country knows someone who knows someone who swears they found "Boardwalk" and lost it under suspicious circumstances; me, I'm happy just putting little avenue piece stickers on a paper Monopoly board and hoping for an instant win free sundae piece that I will never actually cash in.

There are forty-thousand McDonald's restaurants within walking distance from my office, and another two or three at home. People shouldn't eat Big Macs every night, but there's nothing stopping me from making sure every ounce of soda I drink for the next few weeks comes from a Monopoly-laden McDonald's cup.

I've talked about the constant dread I experience in regard to the woman asking me to take her to...the craft store. It's a little easier around the holidays, because craft stores know the holidays. I'm actually finding a lot of cool stuff at 'em this year. Previously, it was all about stupid scarecrow door wreaths and pumpkin-themed scrapbook kits, but this year, I'm finding stuff like "Bat Organs" party favors. BAT ORGANS!

The packaging is kind of boring and kind of sucks, but since it includes the term "BAT ORGANS" in large text, I'm not sure I need anything else. The set consists of four gooey "bat brains," which are such unbelievably perfect little gooey brains that I am now 100% positive that my destiny is to create a homemade Krang and write up a DIY guide afterwards. These things are just awesome, and CHEAP! Even more amazing is that the so-called "bat brains" are clearly too large to be the brains of any existing bat. They're bigger than most bat heads. I love them!

New on the Halloween Countdown: My Little Pony.

PS, think I can sue McD's if they give me two Baltic Avenues on one Coke?

*laughs* Matt, you’re in for a horrible treat when this gets posted on a MLP message board.

And when I mean horrible, I mean you’re going to be smothered with love when it’s found out you dedicated a whole article to the MLP Halloween line. Like me!

*smothers you with love* Anyway, they have magnets in their feet because on pony playsets there are magnets built into certain things. They can interact with them, kind of. You press their hooves against the designated place and drawers open, music plays, taxes are paid . . .

These are the third generation of MLP to come out, and have been going strong since 2003. I’d tell you more but . . . then you’d go into a bored coma. VIVA LA PONIEZ!

I fucking HATE it when I get 2 Baltics with my coke! And they never make Boardwalk (or in some contests, only boardwalk), and no one ever gets the big prize. You never hear it happening!

Even getting the Baltic/Mediterranean combo is 1:55,000!

Chestnuts roasted by Invader Norbert @ 10/04/2006 12:12 AM

Oh! Forgot to add: But those magnets are mainly just good for slapping them up on the fridge. I mean, come on.

I have both of these thanks to osomeone talking about them on XE (and bought them off ebay). They really are awesome ponies. Pumpkin tart is my fav though. wish I had known that Target released holiday themed ponies beforehand.. Ive really been missing out (they do Valentines, Christmas, and Easter ponies too!)

Have been watching pony Tales on youtube. never got to see it before and its actually a pretty decent cartoon. Too bad its not on DVD in R1 or I would buy it.

First of all, Welsh Rabbit, I adore you! You made me giggle with glee over the “dirty pillows” comment.

Second, Matt, when my boyfriend asks why I rushed to our BRAND NEW TARGET (it opens tomorrow!!!) and fought the crowds and madness just to buy My Little Ponies and a Mountain Dew Pitch Black Icee, I’m telling him it’s all on you. If he’d just break down and read the articles, we could save ourselves a lot of trouble (I think he thinks I’m cheating on him. haha!)

Third, I swear to you I said the exact same thing to the aforementioned boyfriend about the bat brains being far too large to be modelled after actual bat brains. Kudos to you for making me feel slightly more normal in saying that. :D

A fourth, this post was entirely too long, so there is no fourth.

“Bat Organs” is the perfect name for a death metal band.

It’s no longer safe to let toys, cereal brands and cartoon characters celebrate Christmas. They can only celebrate “the holidays.”

Ack, can we at least wait until Dec ember before starting the “War on Christmas” crap again?

Do all of the new My Little Ponies have magnets in their feet? That’s pretty fucking cool.

Chestnuts roasted by Karen @ 10/04/2006 2:32 AM

I was so disappointed when I saw the new Holly Hobbie! On the other hand now that I’ve actually seen what these ponies look like I really want Abra-ca, and I’ve never been interested in this revival before.

That article made me laugh my ass off. I didn’t consistently play with many of the girlie brands growing up, but MLP was one of them. I swear, the kids these days that are getting all the new generation toys of ours…okay, I’m not going to finish that sentence…I just used the phrase “kids these days”. That makes me older than I’d like to be. I’m going go smoke and have another beer now. Just to make myself feel better.

Chestnuts roasted by MissJess @ 10/04/2006 3:10 AM

Yes, pretty much all of the rereleased My Little Ponies have the magnet on their foot. How do I know this? Two girls under the age of 10 dude. Two!!!

Wish they would make a male pony…

BAT ORGANS!—with bat brains?

Chestnuts roasted by super_dex @ 10/04/2006 5:41 AM

when is evil dead matt going to do a review?

Chestnuts roasted by super_dex @ 10/04/2006 5:42 AM

I, too, wasn’t going to read the article until I saw “This Little Pony Went to Hell”. So I found myself reading it.

Then I found myself laughing and trying not to draw the attention of co-workers who would wonder why in the Great Pumpkin’s name I was reading an article about My Little Pony.

Now I’m gonna go find myself slapping me in the face…then maybe grab some food or something…

A friend of mine actually won a computer playing McMonopoly. I myself cannot stomach any fast food. It’s like poison to me.

I fully remember in 2nd grade some kid raising his hand in class to let everyone know he had found Boardwalk. Our teacher told him that it wasn’t time to talk about Monopoly.
I never got into playing MLPs, but I think I remember a cartoon. I think. Was there one?

Yeah, a few. And a movie.

Ponies in Halloween costumes…i mean i’m thrilled to see yet another contribution to the great season, but i can’t help but worry that out there, at least one little kid in the world will get the impression that like the kids household pets do every halloween, ponies ALSO like to don costumes, and then go attempt to do it, resulting in pony back-kick. But that’s just me.

Either way dunno about anyone else but this Halloween season is coming into play quite well, something seems a little bigger this year as opposed to last, not sure what, but so far i have a good haul of Halloween releated products all saving up for the special time, i still can’t decide though whether i should share all the cool stuff i bought with people at my party on the 28th, or hide it until halloween and enjoy it myself, if anyones reading this what would you do lol.

MissJess I am 18 and regularly use the phrase “kids these days” and have been for at least two years (probably partially due to this site, which I officially can’t remember not being in my internet life, though it must have been).

And I was going to reinforce super_dex‘s wish to see Madd Matt, but I just realized I don’t think he’s been around since the summer of ’03… and Matt regularly ignores mentions of him. So never mind. They must’ve had a falling out.

Picked up “The one and only original vanilla cappuccino broom”, has anyone seen these? The whole place smells like a Starbucks, it’s wonderful. I might have to be a vanilla scented witch for Halloween now.

Holy Crap, Majorwitz!!!!! Welcome back and all that good stuff!!!

I ate McDonald’s breakfast the other day (*hangs head in shame) the first day of the Monopoly contest…in my breakfast I got Reading Railroad TWICE and Pennsylvania Ave TWICE. Geez, they aren’t even TRYING to hide the fact that YOU CANNOT WIN. Still, it is addictive to try and fill up that little Monopoly board…now I might have to go back for more disgusting-makes-me-feel-guilty-when-I-eat-it breakfast.

Chestnuts roasted by Muppet Baby @ 10/04/2006 11:28 AM

They DO make male ponies. I dont know if the current batch of ponies include them but ‘back in the day’ they had quite a few. Their molds were different, looked like a Clydesdale horse. I had a few but the one thats most distinct in the memory banks was a blue MLP with a football helmet (I luvs me some footsball). they also made male ponies in the UK based off of the guy horses from the My Little Pony Tales cartoon – but am not sure if they made it to the US or not.
