07/24/2006: Save Danny Phantom!

This was pretty cool. Apparently, Nick is canceling Danny Phantom, and apparently, some people are upset about it. Some people were upset enough about it to stage a protest right outside the building today, complete with picket signs that were so awesome, I’m still not entirely sure this wasn’t an internal publicity stunt. They gave out flyers and free candy, had televisions playing episodes of the show…amazing. The people protesting were a pretty eclectic group, so I’m assuming that they founded their cause online and only met each other this morning. They weren’t all “FUCK YOU VIACOM” or anything, either. It felt a little bit more like a party, only they were celebrating something that pissed them the fuck off. Don’t know how helpful it’ll be, but I scored a single-wrapped LifeSaver out of it. i agree with you DP fans because this character is the most popular character of all! i was upset when i heard about the cancelation. i think this is because of that dumb puppet show, Mr. Meaty’s. i mean, i’m a DP fan myself and i rather turn off the tv than see a wack show about puppets in a meat store! so all i want to say is ; SAVE THE GHOST WE LOVE THE MOST!and end this mess now!

P.S. by the way, anyone who says anthing about an adult liking a cartoon shouln’t say anything , because my sister is an adult too and watches danny phantom besides me ( i’m 14 by the way).

To whoever said that Danny Phantom wasn’t a big deal…

You’re so wrong. I’m a huge fan of the show, and trust me, once you get into the loop of the fandom, you can SEE how huge it is. It’s actually global. Which may seem odd, but it’s true. There are phans (Yes, with a ph)in Australia, North and South America, Denmark, and various countries in Europe. Thanks to the beauty of internet tv. I realize that this is true for other shows as well, but for a cartoon, I think this has done pretty well. This may also be due to the fact that, although the show is aimed at kids, it has jokes and meanings that adults/teenagers can appreciate. Which is true of many cartoons, I suppose.

I don’t watch any other cartoons, or much tv, really, unless I’m bored, and yet I can hardly go a day without seeing something of DP. Even just artwork or fanfiction (some of which is actually on a level with, or better than the show itself.) I admit it. I’m obsessed.

For me it’s about the psychological and sociological effects of something like what Danny goes through. The superhero complex/lifestyle has just always fascinated me. Not that the humour and characters don’t appeal to me as well.

I suppose this won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, and I understand that. I don’t like a lot of the shows that many DP fans find so entertaining. People are different. But I really wish people would just give something a chance before they say “It’s just a cartoon, don’t get so upset.” Because for a lot of people, it’s not “Just a cartoon.” I could continue, but I won’t. (Thankfully)

By the way, I don’t think this was a stunt on Nick’s part, either, because I saw some of these pictures on another site (well, similar to these), with captions saying that “this was my sign”, “this was my art”, etc. Then they proceded to diss Nick. Besides, Nick hasn’t really done all that much to promote DP anyway, that I can see. FOP has its own wallpaper, for goodness’ sake. And I’m not talking computers. I’m talking actual wallpaper, that you would put on your walls. Who buys that?

Anyway, sorry about my rant. Just one more thing. Has anyone else heard if Nick was going to go for a fourth season of DP? I don’t believe it myself, but some Phan put it up in her journal, saying that a friend had read it in a magazine. What one, I don’t know, but now I’m curious. So, anyone know anything about that?

Just for the information of all those who are upset about Fairly Odd Parents and fear its cancellation, have no fear, Nickelodeon has ordered twenty more half-hour episodes of Fairly Odd Parents.

Wow, I never see this images before, I knew that the rally was last year, in July, and will be another… I am Mexican and I have practically 17 years old, and I think that show is really amazing!!! It’s a lie that Butch Hartman want to cancel Danny Phantom and FOP, he wants to continue with more episodes, but Nickelodeon want them gone, we gotta do something about this NOW!!!! Many people said: “why they do nothing with other programs that I used to love”, well the reason is obviously, because they never intent NOTHING!!! I say if you want something then YOU GOT TO DO SOMETHING FOR THAT, IT’S YOUR CHOICE!!!! this is probably the last good Nicktoon on Nickelodeon, I mean: Wayside?!?!?! i mean it was a good children book series, but did they have to make it into a cartoon?
anyway for those of you who despise the show, try watching “The Ultimate Enemy” it is one of the best episodes in my opinion.

Danny phantom is one the greatest shows out there
and for them to cancel it means nick was just in it for the money they dont care about the people as long as they get payed When I first saw danny phantom he really surprised me he has to balance being a teenager and a ghost while including family life and friends…that’s what teens today have to face too balacing family and friends while surviving in an ever changing world…Nick needs to bring back Danny phantom he’s an inspiration to us all
