Everything to do with apples.

Got busy, so it's going to be a few more days before Disney Part 2. In a disastrous move, I'll try to tide you over with a new Kool-Aid review, knowing full well that this replacement is akin to that episode where the crowd was expecting a Chipmunks concert and booed the holy fuck out of the Chipettes. Today's featured flavor: Candy Apple.

In other news, some may remember the Shrunken Head Apple Project article from 2003, and the subsequent blog update from June, 2005. It's been just about a year since we last heard from Mr. Apple, and indeed, he's still kicking ass.

So yes, even after all these years, the Shrunken Head Apple dude hasn't disintegrated and hasn't once been infested with gnats. He just keeps getting cooler and cooler with age, like a wine or a cheese or a something else. Yes. Okay, back to writing about Disney...see you.

Haha! That’s amazing. Man do I love this site.

Man, I need to make a shrunken head apple.

Come October, you should get everyone to make their own shrunken heads and send in pictures. Kinda like the Halloween art thing from last year, but with apples.

Ahhhh, the eyes look bigger each time! :D I know it’s because of his appley skin pulling back with age… but, still.

It’s ok, about the Disney pt 2 delay. It will make finally reading it that much sweeter.

I didn’t know about Candy Apple Kool Aid! Gonna go read it…

that shrunken head apple looks delicious!!!

I really wish I’d been alive for candy apple-flavored Kool-Aid. Sounds so tasty.
I really wonder how much you pay for these things sometimes. (Says the person who paid 65 dollars – American – for a My Little Pony.)

Holy hell, I say we each write the Kool Aid people and demand that they start making this again! It sounds absolutely delicious for a 30 year old packet, could you imagine what a fresh packet would taste like? Mmm…

ps – I’ve never eaten a candy apple in my life! :X

pps – Matt, you are making me crave Halloween! :’(

I thought I could do some easy research, so I decided to go to wikipedia for a lead on the candy apple Kool-Aid (if ANYONE has an answer, or hint, it’s them right?).

Practically every link in the "flavors" secton of their entry links to X-E!

I may have to actually crack one of those mythological things called "books" to find an answer on this one.

"…knowing full well that this replacement is akin to that episode where the crowd was expecting a Chipmunks concert and booed the holy fuck out of the Chipettes."

Awwwwwwwwww. :(

I actually remember seeing that Alvin & The Chipmunks episode. It was just as strange as the episode where they were Geishas and convinced Dave that they were girls.

And this reminds me of the horrific Caramel Apple Jones Soda from last Halloween.

Ryanne: Count me also as another person who’s never had a candy apple either. I’ve had plenty of caramel apples though when I was younger. My great-grandma made them for halloween.

What’s articuno?

Speaking of the Chipmunks, I remember when they did those old Saturday Morning Preview specials. One particular year they had people in Chipmunk costumes be teachers at a school. Among the faculty was Bull from Night Court as a gym teacher, Jackee Harry as a secretary, and the Punky Brewster kids as students.

Ol’ Doc still looking great!
I love candy apples way over their caramel cousins. That snazzy white package is fetching as well.

Love the Articuno mention! Keep those Pokémon referrences coming, you’re an inspiration to us older Poké-fans.

Also, that article left me really hungry for a candy-apple. And, really in the mood to draw a picture of King Halloween.

Oh wow 2003.. that makes me feel old for some reason. Anyway, at least it serves to be a Halloween mini-pump! Now only a couple more months :D

To the person who asked who articuno was it is one of the ice bird out of the three legendary birds from pokkemmmon.

Hah! Yes! Herr Shrunken Head Apple has officially made the jump from "interestingly gruesome arts and crafts project" to "renegade folk hero." And don’t you think he doesn’t know it, either.

Chestnuts roasted by Jedoc @ 06/12/2006 7:27 AM

These Kool-Aid people never half-assed anything.
Sometimes lines like this make me laugh longer than I should while pretending to do the books at work.
I too, am craving fall. Summer merchandising at Target is lost on me.

Chestnuts roasted by kb @ 06/12/2006 7:47 AM

Why was Candy Apple Kool-Aid so shortlived? Most likely because it wasn’t different enough to warrant continued shelfspace devoted to it. It’s basically just a Cherry and Apple mix with cinammon added, and supermarket distributors were uppity like that.

Ewwww. He looks nasty nasty. Like if you dressed up a pile o’ poo with a wig.
Having started a diet, I’ve cut out soda intake, including diet ones, which I suspect as having equally foul affects upon our anatomies. And thus, have rediscovered Kool Aid and similar drinks, making them with Splenda instead of sugar or some weird chemical substitute. Even more, I find myself drinking lemonade most of all, putting away a pitcher a day. Easy to make- one cup lemon juice, one cup Splenda, about 3 – 3 1/2 cups H20. Sometimes I add lime juice in there, as well. Yum!

i know this has nothing to do with kool aid but does anyone remember the old dungeons and dragons cartoon, its on cartoon network at midnite in philly.

Chestnuts roasted by pdac @ 06/12/2006 9:47 AM

Candy apple Kool-aid, it rolls off the tongue. I’ve tired candy apples before, but I wasnt a fan of the apple feeling soggy, apples need to be crunchy. I would be will willing to try it again, but maybe I’ll buy a kit to make my own or something?

Chestnuts roasted by IHAQ @ 06/12/2006 10:02 AM

Wow, that apple article was from 2003? Jesus, time goes by WAY too fast!

Had a great weekend camping, I’m just sad I missed the Earthquake tribute night on the blog here. :0(

Can’t wait for Disney Part 2!

Chestnuts roasted by Muppet Baby @ 06/12/2006 10:58 AM

Doesn’t Matt just end up destroying his collection in the process of these articles? I mean… jeez.. It’s like a poor man’s **Brewster’s Millions** or sumtin’.

Matt… Don’t take up stamp collecting. Unless we’re pen pals, ok?

Chestnuts roasted by Amanda Huggenkiss @ 06/12/2006 10:59 AM

I know that summer vacation just started but holy crap in a hat do I want October to come. You’re not helping any Matt!

Chestnuts roasted by Darth Poop @ 06/12/2006 11:06 AM

Wow, Candy Apple Kool-Aid…that’s amazing.

Had to laugh at the person who said they use Splenda instead of some "weird chemical substitute" for sugar. What do you think they did to the sugar to make it so your body doesn’t absorb it? Surely nothing weird or chemical-ly.
