05/16/2006: Pac-Ball.
Someone from work brought me back a gift from E3 – a blinking Pac-Man superball. It’s like I died and went to heaven and God told me I could make any wish I wanted so long as it was small and on the cheap. I love this ball, and if I ever lose a testicle, it will fill the gap.

Dammit. No one ever brings me anything. I'm either lonely and didn't realize it or I work with assholes. Do I sound entitled when I say that? Dammit, I deserve gifts!

Become a father, that earns you an extra day of presents and you can buy toys that might only be for the kids sometimes.
No video of the blinking?

CRAP!!!
I've never posted this high before. I haven't checked in in a few days and missed the amazing stories article!!! I use to love that show with all my soul and body (including my pee-pee).
I haven't read the article yet, but I'm not going to miss my chance to post this high….

That toy RULES. It reminds me of this windup Pac-Man toy I had as a kid with the orange ghost (forget which one that was) in his mouth and you wound him up and his mouth would just chomp and his little feet would roll all over a hard surface…I think sadly I threw him out unless he's floating around in a closet or drawer somewhere which could very well be….I recently found my Twiki figure from Buck Rogers.

I have the little wind-up Pac-Man! Excellent condition, for a flea-market find. Sometime I bring him to work and run him across my desk during the customer lulls.

Posted by
kingklash @ 05/16/2006 1:56 PM EDT
That would make an excellent testicle.

It looks like Pac-Man has some internal hemorrhaging. Cool looking internal hemorrhaging none the less. And yes, I know that hemorrhaging can only occur internally, or can it?

I love toys! Last year I started collecting the wwe/wwf legends collection. I'm not collecting every single one mind you just my favorites from back in the day or the ones that stand out. So far I just have four but ill be getting more eventually.

The Namco 'Arcade' booth was the best booth at E3 (besides the Nintendo one of course). You could get cool Pac-Man toys if you played a moblie arcade game (pac-man, galaga, etc). You'd get a token and you could use it in a capsule machine. That ball was rather hard to come by.
Also, thanks for the Amazing Stories article. Awesome show and thanks for the heads up on its DVD release!!!

And I love Pac-Man. Just reasserting my mad XE recognition as a semi-regular poster. I will try to say something entertaining next time.

I once ate something that looked just like that, and sadly it came out looking exactly the way it did when it came in…
In other words, I'm jealous.

Way cool!
Really enjoying the article highlights in entries recently
Whoa, great gift. Almost as good as the PacMan Plug N Play game I got for Xmas- turning your TV into an arcade game is always enjoyable.
Matt- I remember you mentioning a PacMan tattoo on your arm…? Were you serious about that? If so, is it yellow or black? Just wondering as I am going to get my Thundercats tattoo this summer and I want to know if an 80s cartoon/logo really DOES make a good tattoo…or if tattoo artists screw them up!

dohopoki @ 05/16/2006 9:46 PM EDT
Muppet — Yes, I do really have that tattoo. Got it many years ago. Can't say I'm still the kind of person who would go out and get a random character forever etched onto a visible part of their body, but that's just because I'm old and boring. It's black and yellow — classic Pac-Man, no shortcuts. Looks good.

Matt, I think not only would that ball make a good testicle replacement, but it would probably be better than the one you've got. Go on, get it replaced.

For some reason, my grandmother had the Pac-Man board game at her house when I was growing up (this is odd because my grandmother and grandfather lived on a farm in the middle of nowhere and didn't exactly know who Pac-Man was nor play many board games), and when me and my cousins got together (there were 11 of us at the time), we'd break that sucker out.
We never played by the rules, mind you. But damn it was fun to live out Pac-Fantasy in 3-D.

Last night I read this blog, then went to bed. During my sleep i had a dream about Pac-Man the cartoon.

I would be lucky if my co-worker gave me a pen from the hotel he/she/it stayed at.
When I went to Hawaii, I visited this store called "Toys N Joys." A suitcase already stuffed to the gills was the only thing that kept me from buying some of these things:

Matt- Yeah, I go for the "easily hidden by clothing" areas of the body for my tattoos. That's one of the things teachers gotta do. Thanks for the info.
Didn't PacMan have a cartoon alongside the Potato Head Kids? I seem to remember 2 shows-in-one with the Potato Head Kids…

Muppet Baby - You're thinking of Glo Friends. And they bothed aired within My Little Pony and Friends.

Apocalypse Pony?
We need a picture of Matt beaning somebody in the head with his flashing testicle. And with the Pac-Ball.

Blinking Pac-testicles? Truly, the future we have long envisioned is here.
And, in a bizarre coincidence, I have the same TV as Peter Brand does. Well, maybe it's the PAL version, but it's the same scarily ancient piece, with exciting modern features like 'colour'.
I'm not a big believer in serendipity, but this is the second plastic testicle reference in as many days. The other was a story on Nuticles on Penn and Teller's Bullshit. Maybe it is a sign I need plastic nuts.

I long for the day when I will have several arcade machines in my home. One would have to be Pac-Man. Definitely.
The others? Space Invaders and Jet-Pac.

I would be wary of using Pac Man as a testicle, if only because I fear ghost related testis attacks. Damn You Blinky!!1

I never had the Pac-Man boardgame like Wukong, but we did have the Frogger boardgame, and played it a surprising number of times, considering how simplistic it was. My brother got it for Christmas the same year I got the E.T. the Extraterrestrial boardgame, complete with cardboard chits simulating Reese's Pieces (My Grandmother always gave up boardgames for Christmas, which was awesome. And socks). The E.T. game saw alot of action, and I'm sure I still have it somewhere, though I wouldn't even begin to know where to look.

The Kraken @ 05/18/2006 10:18 AM EDT
I wish I could find reprints of those board games from the backs of Post cereals from the Coleco Tabletop game giveaway. Little Brother and I played the Donkey Kong one to death. One player could be DK and chose which ladder the barrells would roll down.

Thanks, Mystie! That's right- they were with 'My Little Pony & Friends' I remember now.
But DID PacMan have a cartoon? I seem to remember one…and I KNOW I had PacMan story books…

I distinctly remember a Pac-Man cartoon, and Ms. Pac-Man was in it too. I'll be damned if I remember what was on before or after it, but I know it existed. Because I always wonder what was the deal with those red shoes.

"I know that monkey! His name is Donkey!"
Donkeys aren't monkeys, stop confusing me!
But Pac-man DID have a cartoon, 2 of them in fact. One was as a segment on Saturday Supercade, and later his own tv series which inluded the Xmas Special (all of which Matt had already reviewed)
And anyone who watched Sunday's Robot Chicken would have seen their take on MLP: My Little Apocalypse Pony. With 4 ponies in the set: Famine Pony, War Pony, Pestilence Pony, and DEATH PONY!!!
Wait a sec…this is Blog #777, Jackpot!!! And it's been 111 blogs since #666. Freaky.

Indeed Pac-Man had a morning cartoon show, click my name for a link to a review of it. I bet you'll never guess who the review is by. Go on, give it a guess. Here's a hint, his name rhymes with Batt.
He has reviewed Pac-Man's Christmas special also, the link to which can be found in this very blog entry. Also notice he's got a link on that page to his review of Saturaday Supercade, a mixure of various video game themed cartoons.
Could I maybe… touch your ball, Matt?
Shouldn't the Death Pony have been a pale horse?

I know I'm a few blogs late, but I stumbled into the trashier grocery store in town to get a soda this afternoon, and I found Crazy Citrus Cooler. And the tag on the shelf, as well as the reciept still say tangerine green. If I'm being honest after the first couple reminising sips, I really didn't want it any more. Why did I love it so?

I'm a few blogs late myself, but I live in the UK and I can't get anything resembling Ecto Cooler!! I tried to buy a $2.99 crate of the stuff from Amazon and they wanted $74.99 for shipping!! Man, I want to taste the stuff but does anyone think that $78 is abit steap for pop??

It took me until now to see it, but did anyone else realize that Pacman's eyes are just tiny Pacmen?
And furthermore, do each of those tiny Pacmen have even tinier Pac-eyes? And do those Pac-eyes have Pacmen behind them? Man….

I have the wind-up Pac-Man mentioned in one of the early comments. Doesn't really work anymore though. Found it at a garage sale last year.
