Thanks for this review! This was actually the first time I saw Mr. Lloyd and I didn't realize he was Doc Brown til years later... oh yeah, that scary guy with the stitches in his neck!! It really is right up there with Judge Doom and his other awesome characters. I liked Amazing Stories in general anyway, along with Tales From The Darkside and all the other series from the 80s. Did you ever see Snip Snip on TFTD, with Carol Kane as a satanic hairdresser? Or the Monsters ep with Tori Spelling getting her head crushed? Thanks for the great review! :)

I know I am really late to this review, but I agree with you 100% Matt. I really like how you described the impact it had on your fears and apprehensions of High School. I was about your age the first time I saw this particular episode too and I remembered it so vividly. It had a lasting impact in my life and it was somewhat slapstick and comic, which is why I think I remember it so well.
I wish there was more about this episode or this show out there. Heck! I would like to be able to remember all of the ingredients for the "Curse of Delchite." To be performed at midnight...the curse of Delchite: Severed bat wing, rose water, fingertip of a blood relative, graven image and sadly I cannot remember the rest.
Then the countercurse "Delchite's Demise." It was so perfectly cliche too! Playing heavy-metal records backwards to find hidden or Satanic messages. (Gah! I heard that all the time about my AC-DC, KISS, Iron Maiden, Dio, Metallica and Megadeth CD's growing up!! They just said it. They didn't need to hide it by talking backwards!)

This episode has been with me a long time and I am surprised to see that the show failed. My family were very into the Anthology show program. We never missed an episode of this program! The episodes which stand out to me are: "Go to the Head of the Class," "Dolls," (This one had John Lithgow in it.) "The Mission" (The Mission was a GREAT one about miracles!) and "Ghost Train." (Ghost Train had that kind-of-scary old man who shoveled the snow off the streets in Home Alone in it.) My girlfriend is too young to remember the show but I will show her the You-Tube clips. By the way for you guys here:

Loved this show as a kid, even more the "Go to the Head of the Class" Episode. So much so that I recently purchased the prop head of Christopher Lloyd from this episode at auction. It's really creepy and lifelike.

I finally saw this episode courtesy of netflix and you were right! It IS motherfucking BOSS! My fiance freaked out no less than a dozen times as Beanes' disembodied head shouted copious dialogue at Mr. Braaaaaand. The whole 'stepping around the trash can in mid pursuit' was great as well.

I became a fan because of your article. But now that I've seen it, I'm even more hardcore about it. I shall spread the word.....

Man this episode did the same to me twenty something years ago! I think I saw it twice because of an encore the next week or something. That final scene scared the shit out of me when I was a kid and has always been a vivid memory. I am so glad they are releasing these finally! Anyway nice site and info!

Thank you for posting this review! I had been hoping I could find someone else who remembered that episode and who had more information about it, but I hadn't expected to find anything so detailed. I loved watching the clips, and having my memories of Lloyd's gleeful performance confirmed. I was also in elementary school when this aired, and it stuck with me just as powerfully. Every mention of Christopher Lloyd since then has had me fondly remembering this particular role. I don't seem to remember any other Amazing Stories episodes, unfortunately. Well, except for Mirror, Mirror: I'd forgotten that one until coming across descriptions of it tonight, and now it hits me that I, too, spent a good while freaked out about mirrors, after seeing it.
