05/09/2006: New X-Men 7-Eleven Slurpees!
Yes yes YES! I don’t know why I assumed this considering the fact that they’re two distinct pushes from two distinct studios, but I figured that the X3 hype would’ve been subdued in the wake of all the Superman hype. I couldn’t be happier to report that 7-Eleven is proving me wrong with new X-Men Slurpees! Yeeeeeeahhhhsh!
The Slurpee in of itself defines Americana with each drop of red, but when 7-Eleven teams up with a movie studio, God damn, I get flashbacks to Hulk Hogan saving Randy Savage from the Honky Tonk Man. We’ve seen examples of this phenomena on the site before, when Shrek 2 captured hearts with its Shrek’s Sierra Mist Slurpee, and when Revenge of the Sith forged everlasting bonds with its Darth Dew Slurpee. Either I’m easily amused, or turning Slurpees into a cultural event is easier than people think.
Every time a cool new Slurpee comes out, I go take pictures at the same 7-Eleven store near the Woodbridge Mall in Jersey. They’re so onto me, and all I can do to make the fuss worth their while is buy twice as many Corn Nuts than anyone really needs. They’re never quite sure how to field me. They know they don’t want me taking pictures of their Slurpee machine, but they’re not really sure why they don’t want me taking pictures of their Slurpee machine. Unable to voice their hate, they just stand around counting sheep and looking pissy. It’s sort of uncomfortable for me, but everybody hurts sometimes. I put aside my tendency to flee to fight for my right to salute Slurpees. Onward, upward.
So, here’s the deal — the Slurpee itself isn’t all that branded. The new X-Men: The Last Stand Slurpees are brought to us by Sunkist, who have long used Magneto to promote whatever they’re turning orange. Sunkist Orange Slurpees is an acronym waiting to happen, and while this is nowhere near as insanely beautiful as those Wolverine Berry Rampage Sundaes Baskin-Robbins pushed when X2 came out, I’m willing to forgive the lack of a truly edited Slurpee flavor for a truly edited Slurpee cup.
Yeah, it’s one of those collectible cup deals. Sure, we’ve seen it a million times before, but the X-Men knew that, and have fittingly upped the ante by gluing “mutating photo discs” on the bottom of each of the cups. What’s a “mutating photo disc,” you ask? Well, it’s sort of like an oversized, grungy plastic coin. Instead of presidents, you get various X-Men characters crudely etched on. When you hold the discs up towards a light source, the crude etching becomes an admittedly impressive 3D picture, with technology that works so well that I found myself clawing at the discs trying to figure out how the trick worked. While the cups feature multiple characters on each, there’s only four players to be found in mutating photo disc form: Storm, Wolvie, Magneto and Professor X.
I’m going to feel really bad if everyone avoids the Professor X discs just because he’s old.
MORE PICTARRSS:
Not only was the official X3 Slurpee flavor dispenser out of order, but it wasn’t even really the official X3 Slurpee flavor. Minute Maid Orange is NOT Sunkist Orange. It’s NOT! THERE ARE FOUR LIGHTS!
I don’t know what was up with this particular 7-Eleven, but their cup section was a fucking mess. Maybe that’s why they didn’t want me to take pictures. They didn’t want anyone else knowing that their cup section was a fucking mess.
I picked the Mystique cup because I wanted my character’s hair to match my runner-up Slurpee flavor color, and not at all because it’s interesting to drink out of a cup with Mystique’s giant tits saturating the thumb area.
I welcome theatrics, especially when the theatrics consist of a Electronic Mutating Photo Disc Testing Station with Push Button Activities.
Magneto is tricky with his magic 3D light thing trick tricks.
If you hate Slurpees, you can get a regular soda in a more lightly-branded X3 cup. But it won’t come with a mutating photo disc! Nyaaaaah!
A lot of people are already railing on X3, in part because of directorial doubts, in part because of script sadness, in part because people are predisposed pricks. I know I’m going to love it; I’m not emotionally invested enough to not love it. And dressing up Frasier as Beast is the best thing ever. You can’t lose with that. If he’s great, good. If he sucks, it’s the funniest thing ever.
In closing, it sucks that Beast didn’t get his own mutating photo disc.

All of the 7-11’s in Iowa went out of business years ago. Now all we got is generic Slurpees.
Those are cool and I can’t wait to see the movie.

It is indeed cause for celebration — but, can you imagine if they had created a Toad slurpee to help promote the first X-Men flick? Complete with gummy worms in the bottom, or something equally absurd.
There aren’t too many 7-11s out my way, mainly just Turkey Hill. I think the closest 7-11 is maybe a 20-30 minute drive practically to Allentown. No photo discs for me, I guess. I’ll have to get a slushee and just draw X-men on round pieces of plastic and play pretend.

Those discs are the coolest thing I’ve ever seen. I might go and buy a Slurpee-less cup just to find out how they work.

I cannot wait for X-MEN 3, even with the shitty new director. Did anyone see the clip yet where Wolverine cuts off a Sentinel’s head!!!!??? I fucking LOVEEEE Sentinels…that alone is worth the price of admission for me. I hope you post any other promotional material you find for X-MEN 3 on the site!

Ooohhh, I’m just now noticing these discs appear to interlock. Am I to assume once you collect all 4 you’ll have a 3-D display cube? Also is it just me, or does the sign look more like it says "Out of Odor"?

I’m gonna post early on since I’m trying to avoid any type of spoilerage, but I refused to actually fill my X3 cup with any Slurpee/soda because I figured that grimy-fingered punks (like me) had sifted through all of them already.

The movie, I guess, is going to also have a cameo of Stan Lee saying, "Holy fuck!" or something. Or at least, that’s what I heard.

I enjoyed the first two, but I do have reservations about the director. Frasier might sell me, though. Superman I’m not sure about. Director’s cool, but I’ve never been that into the blue guy.
The weather’s getting hot already so I might swing by the Sev this week and make some kind of pun about Mystique and cup size.

Ugh, their cup section is a fucking mess
Hold on, hold on…Kelsey Grammar is the Beast?! I just can’t imagine that guy hopping around and doing acrobatics like a hairy blue 400-pound gymnast. Then again, if Kelsey Grammar’s movie staple is having lots of hair, maybe there’s room to believe in anything.

I am confused. The sign says Sunkist, but the machine says Minute Maid.
What kind of trickery is this!?

I don’t know why people keep forgetting that the first two X Men kicked ass. Way more ass than almost any other recent comic based movie (barring perhaps V for Vendetta).
Besides, even if it sucked, it’s fucking WOLVERINE. Show some respect, bitches.

I don’t watch movies directed by coffee tables; therefore I’ll not suffer through "X-Men: The Last Stand", not even when it’s on DVD or on cable. Brett Ratner is an idiot.

Yet more proof that Wawa is crap.
Yeah, I’m going to get a lot of riffing from PA/NJ/DE/MD folks, but fact of the matter is that I’m really not a fan of Wawa. They’ve almost eliminated 7-11 stores completely around here!
And Mystie…Turkey Hill rules. No Zern’s trip is complete without a stop at the Turkey Hill on Swamp Pike en route back to 422. Wawa has NOTHING on their iced tea.
That all being said, I’ll have to get me one of those awesome cups/coins.

X-Men is going to be one of those movies for which I purposely supress my natural cynicism. I really want to like it, and so I’m prepared to forgive almost anything that Brett Ratner throws at me. Still and all, though. I can’t believe Bryan Singer left us for the World’s Biggest Boy Scout. C’mon, Singer. Superman’s interesting in theory, prompting discussions on how an invulnerable, nigh-omnipotent hero distorts the traditional narrative, but he’s never been a good character. Unless the movie is based on this cover. Then I’m bang alongside the whole endeavor.

Haha, my trip to Zern’s only includes turns at Turkey Hills! I turn at the Turkey Hill in town and drive to the Turkey Hill on 73 and go straight in. The people at Larry’s Hardware all know me and shit now (yay Google), and they get all happy to see me come in. We had a wonderful discussion about Happy Meal toys last time I was there. Plus I now have permission to dig through the stuff behind the ropes if I want.

I got the Wolverine and the Professer X mutating photo disc doo-hickey, and I spent probably 10 hours holding them up to the light and pulling them back down. It’s really addictive.
Also, Matt, I feel like a total and complete geek now because I got the Star Trek TNG reference in your article. I’m going to go sob in the corner of a dark room now.

I’m sorry Mike F. but WaWa > 7-11. Other than their promotions the sev is crap. WaWa has better food, (especially their hoagies), they are cleaner, no surcharge at the atm, and they have gas. And the end all: they have kick-ass chocolate milk.
There are no 7-11’s around where I live right now. It’s makes me sad for two reasons. I love Big Gulps. Also, the logo is on my list of favorites logos of all time. When I was in high school, and in a state that had 7-11s. I painted the logo on my bedroom wall. Which only lasted for a few weeks before my parents decided to re-paint my room.

I’m in northern jersey and wawa is nonexistant out here. We do have 7~11 tho, just not as many as when I was younger. Only reason I even know about wawa is cuz I seen some when I visited PA.
P.S. Superman is a sucka in blue and red pjs

Sorry Mike, but I too feel Wawa is vastly superior to 7-11. Better food, fresh hoagies, waaaaay cleaner, and awesome Iced Tea. Wawa Iced Tea is the best. Although Turkey Hill is pretty good too.
I also got Matt’s TNG reference. Way to bridge the 2 Patrick Stewart roles Matt!

My friend and I are contemplating on setting a goal of eating something from every kind of Fast Food Chain in the country. I don’t mean we’re going to every location ever, we’d just go to 1 just to say "Hey, we ate there." to the unfortunate slobs that haven’t.
Since we live on Long Island, we need to eat at places that aren’t around here, like Sonic, In & Out Burger. Chick-fil-A, etc. And A&W. If there’s any really good ones, lemme me know.
And all this talk about X-Men made me wonder: Who would the X-E Men consist of and what would their superpowers be?

I got my Magneto and Wolverine changy thingies last weekend, when I was visiting the ‘rents just north of Phila. No special Minute Maid slurpee insite, no Darth Dew either.
Gotta say I love me the Wawa more than the Sev for several reasons –firstly, Big Bite hot dogs lose their appeal when you turn 13. The rest of the "hot food" at Sev is pretty scary. I don’t think their selections were this scary when I was in high school and at at least one meal a day from Sev. I swear those people are in line with Hot Pockets for developing odd things wrapped in crusts.
Wawa, on the other hand, has the best meatball subs that don’t come from a real Italian place. And the best orange drink and iced tea. Granted, it’s not Rosenburg’s, but few things are. Also, they have that new milkshake and iced coffee machines too.
As for Turkey Hill, I’ve only been to two of these, so I can’t say I have vast experiences. One was in Lancaster, the other in Kutztown. Both smelled funny. Both had exceedingly sticky floors. Can’t say I enjoyed either experience.

I live in North Carolina, where there are no 7-11’s, thus, there are no Slurpees. Don’t feel to bad for me, I have had one before, and that actually might be worse because I’ve tasted what I cannot find within a four hour drive. We do have Icee’s, which are kindof close, but not really.
I’m a little sad. Can someone send me a X3 Slurpee in the mail?

There were similar doohickeys for Star Wars in Lay’s products some time back. Just bas-relief trickery. Cool trickery. The 7-11s here are all unaffiliated, so no promos in reach. I ought to get Little Brother on the case, and have him prowl Kansas City for cups. The cups should have lids of Wolvie’s fist, with three straws sticking out.

Okay, okay. I’ve been irritated about this for long enough, and now that I have your blog to post this on, I’m going to.
The X-Men cartoon that came out in the 90’s had Professor X talking like Captain Picard, and Beast talking like Kelsey Grammar. Wolverine sounded like… well, not Hugh Jackman, but who the hell cares. Scott Summers was a Prick with a nearly British sounding accent, and so on and so forth.
Its like the Casting Director took their cue from the voice director on the cartoon show. How lame is that???
Remember "Garfield and Friends"? The guy who voiced Garfield was a fella named ‘Lorenzo Music’ who passed away a few years ago. Anyway, he admittedly sounded a whole lot like Bill Murray… and then when they went to make the movie, they got Bill Murray!!!!!!
AAAAAAHHHH!!!
Our initial perceptions are shaping the casting choices for all too many characters who did better in print than they ever did in the cartoons.
Ok, this isn’t that funny, or that clever, but if anyone else here agrees or knows what I’m talking about, please agree. Otherwise, go on about the Cups.

Huh! That’d be funny.

I understand your argument, but I think if they would have gotten Dana Carvey say, to play Garfield, people would have been like "WTF…?!?" At least they made him sound as close to the original as possible. Or maybe Bill Murray WAS the original and Lorenzo Music made Garfield sound like Bill Murray on purpose.
It’s kind of the same thing that’s been going on with the new Transformers Movie. ALOT of people want the original voice actors (Peter Cullen and Frank Welker) ALOT of people are against it. Personally, I would rather the original voice actors, just because that’s what I grew up hearing, although the guys who have been playing Prime/Primal/Megs that past few series are doing a great job.
However, if they got someone like Tom Hanks to play Prime, and Tim Allen to play Megs, I would be seriously dissapointed. They do not even remotely sound ANYTHING like the originals. Then again, neither does the guy who’s been playing Megs since Beast Wars, so what I said makes no sense, but still.
Personally, the closer to the originals they can get, the happier I’ll be, if they don’t go with Cullen/Welker.
Actually, I think Jeremy Irons would make a good Megs.

Darth Galvatron,
Thanks for the insightful commentary there. Its refreshing to know that now that I’ve aired out my feelings about this subject, there are at least probably a few others who can empathize.
For me, I always wanted to see Mr. T play Optimus Prime… not so much for the realism aspect, but just to hear the words, "I Pity da Fool who takes an energon cube from me!"
Oh well.

I agree Wawa is muuuuch better than 7-11. The sandwiches are great, and I love those touch screens where you pick out all your requests without having to talk to the deli guy. It’s just easier having it printed out than yelled over the counter.
And those Turkey Hill ice creams they came out with last year, Creamy Commotions, are so good. I haven’t seen them in my supermarket in a while, but now that we’re starting ice cream season again I’m hoping. Tastykake Chocolate Cupcake is FUCKING AWESOME.

Ah, well…as long as they can keep both Wawa and 7-11 open around here, I’ll be satisfied. But I wouldn’t complain in the slightest if they were to close either a Wawa or a 7-11 and introduced a Turkey Hill Minit Mart!
Not sure if anyone else is from Delaware County in PA, but the 7-11 in Ridley Park is pretty sanitary. But yes, now that you mention it, all Wawa stores do have a strong sense of cleanliness.
Mystie, that’s awesome that they know you at Jack’s Hardware! I regularly refer to that as the "Stuff Store." I found this puzzle there of the Philadelphia skyline…back how it looked BEFORE the skyscrapers! Honestly, in the photograph, City Hall is the tallest building. I check the date on the box: 1980. Mike F not only have you stolen my true name, but you have defiled it with your slanderous talk about WaWa. 7-11 is the retainer of the old guard, the new kings? I was sitting here, reading this article, seriously craving a slurpee, when my boyfriend came in from work and said, "I’m thirsty." To which I replied, "Wanna get a slurpee?" How very fortuitous!! Unfortunately, when I got to 7-11, I was greeted by a green post-it note with a crudely drawn frowny-face taped to the side of the machine that housed the X-Men themed slurpee. I ended up getting a Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper flavored one instead. I must say that I enjoy the flavor in slurpee form more than I enjoy it in soda.

And Billy Penn sat atop City Hall looking over it all. Hence the Curse of William Penn. Shortly after the puzzle was published, One Liberty Plaza was built, the first building to go higher than Billy Penn and ending the unwritten city law that Billy should forever look out over his city. Thus, the fair town was been cursed to have their sports teams forever shit the bed in championship games.
And One Liberty Plaza? Burned down in what was the largest high rise fire disaster before the World Trade Center was attacked. The hulk of the building was only recently torn down and redeveloped after years of insurance companies fighting over who go more money for it.

The Beast was always well-read and prone to erudite (and verbose) conversation, so any voice acting would tend toward a Fraiser-like bent. Even before he was blue-furred, he was the most intellegent of Xavier’s students. And this was back in the 60’s, before Fraiser was a glint on Kelsey Grammar’s forehead. The only stupid thing was drinking a chemical formula he was working on to keep out of evil hands. Poof! he’s furry. But it did negate the effect of his mutation, the more he used his agility, the less his IQ got. Afterward, he became second to Spidey in the "witty banter while fighting" department.
Wow, I didn’t know all that was rolling around in my head until now.

dohopoki I was just about to post that. I find it boner inducingly awesome that they brought Pit into the fray. I almost creamed myself when I saw the vid. Ok, maybe that was too much, but I was close.
And that Solid Snake thing was a fantastic touch. Especially the whole recon thing.
Chris Latta One of the greats
I’m hoping the X-men movied doesn’t suck. I too saw all the major and minor changes they made, but they are still well done, enjoyable movies.
They could have been worse. They could have turned out like Shumachers shitfest, Batman and Robin….

You KNOW its summer when 7-11 starts doing great promotions and cool cups. My favorite? The WWF one in 2002. I met Stacy Kiebler and Test. I also got a free poster, that hangs in my collection room. Last years Star Wars was pretty cool, and Halo 2 the year before. 7-11 RULES!!!

".is a communist." This raises a question my friends and I have asked, what other things are so intrinsic to being an american in this day and age it would be unamerican to have not experienced them, like the Rocky movies or atari. have you ever come across someone sheltered growing up so they’ve never seen something like star wars and immediately want to fix that cause it’s just not right? what else can you think of?

I felt that way about a girl that I knew who had never seen clerks and didn’t know what Necrophelia was. We watched it together and I just watched the horrified look on her face, intermittenly being replaced by laughter and more horror.
There’s something to be said for that.
In the end we didn’t end up going out. Oh well.

kingklash: Man, I always thought that the same serum that turned Beast blue and fuzzy also made him super-smart. I seem to remember one time the Professor managed to turn him back into a human and he got really stupid again, and then ended up turning blue and fuzzy again because apparently the Professor was mixing miraculous cures out of a ten-dollar chemistry set and ran out of guar gum. And thus became smart again. And then somewhere along the line he seems to have turned from a big blue monkey into a big blue cat, so I suppose I don’t really know what’s going on with him anyway. Oy gevald.

Do you think Matt feels bad for the lobsters that get eaten? I’m not sure.
I MADE my students watch "The Breakfast Club", "The Wizard" and…"Son in Law" this year in my English classes, managing to find legitimate "educational" purposes for all of them. Mostly though, it just WASNT RIGHT that they hadn’t seen a Pauly Shore movie, the breakfast club (NOT the version without swears on TBS all the time) and well, THE WIZARD!

Hank McCoy was always one of the smartest guys around. But back in the good old "Mutant Powers Must Be Ironic" days, the more his Mutant Agility was used, the faster he got stupid. Too long, he became a danger to himself and others. (must… refrain.. from… singing MST3K… song) Usually it took a psychic wallop from Prof. X or Jean to knock him out when that happened. It was Hank’s shame until he fuzzed up.

Lemurcat- I explained it the best I could!! A few of the students had older brothers and sisters, so THEY knew…they understood. Pauly Shore is amazing. I WANTED to show them "Pauly Shore is Dead" because they LOVED ‘Son in Law’, but I would have gotten into trouble for that one!

Muppet Baby — Dang. What a cool high school teacher. All we got to watch in high school was "A Street Car Named Desire". I would have given my left tit to watch any of those three movies *AND* try to discuss their signifigance.

Making kids watch "The Wizard" sounds like torture. I saw that as a kid on video, and I somehow never knew about it when it was in theaters (and all that Super Mario Bros. 3 hype). So when the autistic boy was stacking boxes in that parking lot, I thought "OH MY GOD the new video game in the tournament is going to be Tetris and he’ll win with his super retard powers!" And then it was SMB3, which had nothing to do with his skills. Lame.

Man all I did in high school was eat lunch, pop pimples, hang out with my 2 or 3 friends and play videogames in shop class. Seriously we had a 32 inch tv in the back of shop class and everyday someone would bring a nintendo 64 (4 player wrestling!) or a playstation (street fight alpha 3!) and that’s all we would do for about 3 hours. No wonder I got kicked out and hadda get my G.E.D a year early lol

I did an entire unit on video game violence for my ethics class, and we watched "The Wizard" to discuss just HOW BIG Nintendo was back in the day- how it spread into film, and pop culture…and how video games USED to be innocent, in comparison to the gore that they play today. Then we hooked up an SNES system and an XBox simultaneously on 2 tvs to examine the difference in violence, and graphics/realism. They LOVED that unit! :) So did I!

I have a Wawa and a 7-11 with in a few miles of each other (also two 7-11s with in a few hundred ft of each other). The Wawa is also a gas station, so they have their own major in come. I haven’t been there yet and probably will never go in, I only go there when I need gas. The one 7-11 is on Rt 34 in Old Bridge, so a lot of truckers, which I always see stopped in front of it, stop in there to get their junk fix. The second 7-11 is on Rt 9, right next to an NJ Transit Bus station. This one is probably always busy in the morning with the communiters. This is the one I go to on a regularly, the last time I was there was to get the green apple slurppie. I think that I might make at trip over to it over the weekend or early nect week.

I wish I hadn’t read this thread. I’ve been trying VERY hard to stay spoiler free, but I can’t resist reading anything on X-E. Up to now, I only knew that there was a movie, and the only trailer I had seen was the teaser on X-Box Live. I suspected certain bad guys would show up, and now I unfortunately know for sure. I wish to smite the person that gave it away without a spoiler warning.
Invader Norbert, I’ve never been to New York, so you may already have eaten at some of the chains I’m about to mention.
Personally, I like Long John Silver’s, because it’s the most unhealthy fish that a person could possibly eat. It’s so much greasier than Skipper’s or any other fish fast food. The fish & chicken combo platter is awesome, if you can actually manage to choke down that much food.
Also, I like CiCi’s pizza. I’m sure that a lot of people from New York are pizza snobs and will think it sucks, but you just can’t beat all you can eat pizza for $6.
Being from Kansas, I am something of a steak snob. I hate the Sizzler. However, the Sizzler is about as close to "fast food" steak you can get.
Also check out Spangles if you’re ever in central Kansas. They’ve got a 1/3 lb burger that comes with barbeque sauce, cheese, bacon, pickles and onion rings (yes, the onion rings are on the burger) that is just awesome. I can feel my arteries clogging while I’m eating it.
Personally, I’d like to try barbeque from every state. I mean REAL barbeque- the kind that takes many hours to cook. You have to get to the best places early- otherwise they are out of the good stuff and all you can get is turkey or hot links.
Darth Galvatron- Your choice of Jeremy Irons for Megatron was inspired. I think Irons would be truly badass. I tried to think of someone I might like better, and the awesomeness of your idea has driven everything else out of my head. I still can’t imagine Prime as anyone other than Peter Cullen though.
I recently went to the Seattle area for work. While there, I extended my stay for a few extra days and took a mini-vacation. While wandering around the city on foot, I found the Science Fiction Hall of Fame. Hanging proudly among the other dozens (maybe hundreds) of movie posters was a poster for the original TF:TM.
That museum was actually kind of sad. It had tons of original props. While that stuff may look cool on screen, it’s usually just some crappy foam rubber stuff up close. Also, lots of it was broken or in bad shape. Examples include Captain Kirk’s chair from classic Trek (buttons and panels busted) and Darth Vader’s helmet from Empire (cracked and broken in multiple places). In fact the only stuff that looked good was the fan-made replicas.
I couldn’t understand why the Nazi at the admission desk wouldn’t let me take my camera in. Now I know it’s just because they didn’t want the world to see just how badly deteriorated this collection really is. If you’re ever in the area, do NOT waste your money on this "museum."
Wow, I can’t believe I wrote that much.

The sentinel (singular) is only in it but briefly and doesn’t play a major role, or so they say on aintitcool and a couple of other sites.
I’m still pissed that they dropped Gambit. In time, after many viewings of the X-Men cartoon tapes that were Pizza Hut premiums, I might forgive Brett Ratner.

kb don’t worry about UK version spoilers. The US version has taken such a different direction, especially as of now, that the UK plot is irrelevant.
*UK spoilery synopsis* After a couple of declarations of love, Tim is resigned to letting Dawn go back to America for good with her crappy fiance. At the last minute, she comes back and just lays one on him. There were parallels to the finale scene last night, but that’s all she wrote for the UK version so everything from here on is fresh territory. Ricky G. and Steve M. are writing an ep for next season, which should be awesome. *end spoil*

Anyone else upset over the lack of even a single Apocalypse referance in any of the movies? I mean really..
Plus, what I know of the X-Men movie franchise says that this is the last "X-Men" movie they’re doing as a group, there’s most likely gonna be a Wolvie movie (let’s hope it’s the Origin storyline) and then i guess whatever other characters are strong enough to hold their own.
I for one and miserable that Alan Cummings isn’t coming back as Nightcrawler cause he was amazing and a genius but he said he would never do a flick with that much make up ever again, but we’ll see.

Yes, my boyfriend and I rewatched The Office today, with much Tivo pausing and giddy schoolgirl-style discussion. Sometimes the best thing about a TV show/book series/movie series is arguing about what will happen next.

Yeah, the Office was AWESOME this week. I thought it was great to end the season that way, because even though it’s killing us to wait and see what happens, we finally got to see "the scene we’ve been waiting for" with Jim and Pam. So there’s a happy element to it, but also suspense.
Also, I felt REALLY BAD for Jan. She finally decides to give Michael a chance, after all the times he has harrassed her, and HE finally moves on and gives up on pursuing her. It was so ironic, but also so appropriate for Michael. He was so oblivious to it, too. Actually, he is oblivious to just about everything.
Sorry, I know this isn’t the Office discussion board. But I don’t go to 7-11, and I’ve never seen X-Men, so I have nothing to post on the real topic.

Here’s to finishing my sixth year!
So who’s been keeping up with E3? I didn’t read this whole entry so don’t blast me if someone’s been discussing it. Just let me know, so I can go back and read it.
FFXIII looks nice, but honestly, G4 needs to stop talking about it when I can cleary see the Dirge and V and VI Advance stations at the Square Booth! Is it too much to ask for Crisis Core screenshots? Anime teaser on Advent Children DVD is not cutting it!!!
So could we maybe hook Adam Sessler and Kristin Holt up? They’ve done every other combination.

Upon further thought, I might be premature in saying the US Office has moved past all the UK storylines. Oh well, that’s what spoiler warnings are for
Last night’s Office was definitely giddiness inducing. I can’t name a show on TV with better writing or acting (including Lost, though not Sopranos, because, you know, It’s Not TV).
Thanks for the info about the spoiler; I’m not familiar with any X-Men lore outside of the movies.

I have a candy dispenser from a couple Hallowe’ens ago, and I bet it’s perfect for the M&M&M&M&M&Ms. It’s a skull, and when you pull a lever shaped like a bone, the jaw opens and some candy spills out. Put a eyepatch and a bandanna on the guy, and he’s perfect for PotC candy. Except he belches and says, "Ha ha ha, pardon me!" Not very pirate-like.

Incidentally, Mike F, as a Southern New Jersey resident who is familiar with WaWa and 7-11…I have to declare a hung jury. I like both equally. WaWa has better baked goods and hot drinks (and generally, better service)…but 7-11 has better cold drinks and more quick-make stuff (like microwaveable burritos). I’ve been using 7-11 more lately because the closest WaWa is closed for renovation until later this month, but I tend to go back and forth between the two, depending on whether I feel like Mocha Chilled Cappuccino or a Slurpee.

I love the X-men slurpee cups… I found out about them quite by accident one day waiting at the bus stop. I had had a craving for a slurpee all day but couldn’t justify buying one since I was mostly broke, but then I saw the sign… The one with the claws and the orange slurpee. I found that I no longer had to justify my need for a slurpee and that the fact that Wolverine and Storm were on the cups made it okay! I have six of the cups now, and I think I am going to make night lights out of the mutating photo disks. I am not exactly sure how I am going to do that, but if your interested, when I get it figured out I will let you know.
