My dying wish is for an owl/camel hybrid, which I call camowl.

This SNT brought to you buy the “Fright Pack!”

This edition of the X-Entertainment Saturday Night Thread is brought to you by...

Anchor Bay's "Fright Pack," a collection of six "campy classics" dressed in an awesomely shitty beer six-pack-esque box that was too cool to pass up on even despite the fact that I already own two of the movies inside. The set runs for 25 bucks, and if you'll forgive the parade of italics, includes: Elvira: Mistress of the Dark, Return of the Killer Tomatoes, Transylvania 6-5000, Return to Horror High, Sleepaway Camp and Vamp. Rent out a lakehouse and bring about 6,200 Amstels...you've got a party.

Here's to hoping at least a few of you are spending this SNT in the dark, watching a bad scary flick with a laptop over your crotch and alcohol in arm's reach.

Only if I can be the racecar.

I like the thimble.

I want the Top Hat!

Chestnuts roasted by Ryane @ 05/07/2006 8:19 PM

I’m sure I’m not alone in thinking that Monopoly would be must improved if the pieces were modified such that the dog could wear the top hat and ride in the race car.

Chestnuts roasted by Jedoc @ 05/07/2006 8:36 PM

Oh that would be sweet.

If we all land on the same spot, we could transform.

Chestnuts roasted by Ryane @ 05/07/2006 8:40 PM

The blog has taken a turn to the surreal. I will try my best not to MONOPOLIZE the conversation (*giving myself a thumbs down*)

Argh, I missed Friday’s topic, and I LOVE to talk about Disney… so I will anyway:

Matt- If you’re at the Polynesian, you need to make dinner reservations for the restaurant ‘Ohana on a night that there are fireworks at the Magic Kingdom. When the fireworks start, the restaurant dims its lights and plays the same music/sounds they play in the park, and you can look out the giant windows and see the whole display perfectly across the lake. My boyfriend set up our dinner without me knowing all this was going to happen, and needless to say I was putty in his hands for days afterward.

Even if you don’t give a crap about fireworks, they have awesome tropical drinks and they bring you a neverending supply of grilled meats on giant stakes. From their firepit. When I die I want to be buried under their bar.

I love that little Scottie dog. No one ever wants to be the guy on horseback. What is he, a statue? Lame.

I got final projects coming out of my ears, so that’s been my groove today. Waiting to start The Sopranos until that’s all handled so I’m dying…
Doing some research on my second choice doggie name (Obi-Wan KenoBean) and I came across a cool Lost/Star Wars related article: http://www.starwars.com/community/news/rocks/f20060505/index.html">here
Speaking of Lost, anybody playing the online Hanso Foundation game? Coolest promotional website since the Requiem For a Dream site way back when.

Chestnuts roasted by squee4242 @ 05/07/2006 9:29 PM

Squee: I’m not playing per se, but I’m following the progress. My brain doesn’t work well enough to handle such encryption-type things.

If you like that, you’ll probably love the http://www.deathball.net/notpron/">Not Pron game.

Muppet Baby, in regards to your question, I am polishing up my resume to turn in to the office of the school I substitute at tomorrow. HOPEFULLY I will have a contract there next fall and chaperone the prom next spring! Okay, maybe not the prom, but anyway, I just want to thank everyone on this blog for constantly making me laugh. I want to give special thanks to the regulars like squee4242, Mystie, Muppet Baby, dohopki, Manimal and Kingklash for not only validating my nostalgic tendencies but also for making them even funnier. Finally, thank you Matt for a wonderful website. I don’t want to sound cheesy, but I think you all understand. Anyway, I hope everyone has a good night and an even better tomorrow. See ya!

Chestnuts roasted by Bludge @ 05/07/2006 10:29 PM

Jeez Bludge, you scared me — that read like a goodbye message! :o

Good luck with the teaching/resume/school stuff!

Chestnuts roasted by Matt @ 05/07/2006 10:33 PM

You’re welcome Bludge.

Chestnuts roasted by dohopoki @ 05/07/2006 10:39 PM

It won’t be too much longer until this place becomes
X-Entertainment for TEACHERS (between me, Muppet Baby, and now Bludge).
First article: Matt’s review of the impact of Haley Mills on the first season of SAVED BY THE BELL followed by another article about erasers. :)
Well, back to grading papers and making a ppt. on the Civil Rights Movement. TEACH ON!

Chestnuts roasted by The Manimal @ 05/07/2006 10:49 PM

I didn’t do anything today except paint my nails and mope about. I’ve been feeling kind of down and out lately, mostly from the loss of my beloved. :(

Chestnuts roasted by Mystie @ 05/07/2006 11:09 PM

I hung out online for most of the day before I got stuck braving work. I’d hate it if we didn’t get paid extra for working Sundays, and even then, the lack of help and long lines got to be a huge (and literal, given my sinus heachaches) pain.

Chestnuts roasted by starwenn @ 05/07/2006 11:30 PM

Thanks Bludge :) I always feel lucky there’s such a great place as this in cyberspace.
Actually Manimal I’ll be joining the ranks myself, once I find the right place (just preschool though).
Excellent Sopranos tonight. I had to watch through my fingers at some points.

Chestnuts roasted by squee4242 @ 05/08/2006 1:49 AM

Good for you, Squee. Summers off, man, summers off. Maybe you can be like me and wake up at 5 to finish the work you didn’t do the night before. :(
Just make sure the preschoolers bring a change of clothes because, as Barney Gumble’s Uncle Al once said, "When it happens, you’ll know."

Chestnuts roasted by The Manimal @ 05/08/2006 6:35 AM

The Manimal: I resent that. I mean, not all of us are becoming teachers. Some of us are becoming school librarians. And don’t you forget it.

Chestnuts roasted by Jedoc @ 05/08/2006 8:11 AM

I have given up attempting to participate in the SNT. For whatever reason I am banned at my house. But, hey, it gives me alot to read on Monday morning while I am avoiding getting any real work done.
I got a library card this weekend. First time since elementary school! I also got the letter saying my financial aid was all set and ready for next fall, so I can go back to school, again.

Chestnuts roasted by kb @ 05/08/2006 9:04 AM

Does a portable DVD player count as a laptop?
I want a M.A.S.K. revival, with improved designs on the classic vehicles.

Chestnuts roasted by kingklash @ 05/08/2006 11:52 AM

It’s Monday afternoonish, I’m a bit late for SNT. That box set looks sweet. If my finacee wasn’t such a wench and making me save up for a house, I would go out and treat myself.

Chestnuts roasted by Geoffinsanity @ 05/08/2006 12:47 PM

Geoffinsanity, just tell her you have priorities. Heck, some things are worth significant-other wrath. We’re saving money for house renovations. I caught hell when I brought home the King Kong 2 disc DVD a while back. Marrying a non-geek can sometimes be a hassle, but I wouldn’t trade her in for anyone.

Chestnuts roasted by freudguy @ 05/08/2006 12:52 PM

Teachers and Librarians, that’s lame. I’m going to become a professional baseball player. If I’m too real for them I’ll use my back-up career, professional basketball player. I’ll be making millions while you’re all making a difference.

Chestnuts roasted by dohopoki @ 05/08/2006 2:29 PM

Professional baseball player? Professional basketball player? Dammit! Why didn’t I think of that? Well, time for a road trip of revenge. My high school guidance counselor has failed me for the last time.
