Hooray for rotten weeks ending with a please-God-let-it-be-good weekend. This here’s your all day, all night Saturday Thread. If anyone’s around, that is.
Yeah, the Starburst tastes a bit off.
The 3 Musketeer shake, on the other hand, is great.

Just as a Reminder: Tonight’s SNL is the Best of TV Funshouse, hosted by Ace & Gary.
So what segments do you think will or should be on it?
Me, I sure damn hope that either last ep’s The Disney Vault and/or Conspiracy Theory Rock appear on it.

jazzy, they still make Dunkaroos. Although, they have a new (less cool) kangaroo mascot. Instead of a cool safari get-up like the original, he’s wearing a sweater that looks as though it was crocheted for him by grandma. Maybe I’m making that up.
I was just in the cereal/snack aisle agonizing over which cereal to buy. Why did all of the mascots change? Argh.

I miss Giggles cookies. They had faces on them.
Ghosted by LuLu @ 04/29/2006 8:49 PM EDT
I hate how Cookie Crisp has that stupid wolf mascot now. Why would a wolf love cookies? Even if I like the idea of a wolf eating cookies, which now that I think about it I might, it’s still a dumb mascot change. They didn’t even come up with a new name for him, they just slapped him with Chip. Chip was the dog, and I’m not going to forget it.

I just picked up 100 vhs movies made in 1980 to 1989 all with original movies,tv shows and the best part is they all have their commercials! Man it will take forever to go through them all.

Are my friends right? Is it truly sad to read an internet blog while getting plastered by yourself? I think they’re wrong and simply don’t understand my plush lifestyle. Oh yeah, I have the Lightning vs. Sens hockey game on as well. Rock star baby, rock star…

I’m doing another rewatch on last week’s Sopranos, because Artie’s ass rape meltdown is still incredibly amusing and it’s been an off day. How long before Tony’s back to his old habits? As soon as I heard that Julianna Margulius (sp) was cast I figured she’d be a love interest, and that’s certainly the way they played it in the previews but those editors are tricksy.
Squee, yes, you know, Artie episodes aren’t so popular, but this one did it for me.

I went out to my holylands today after work. I got lots of goodies! I saw the biggest ugliest Raphael figure I ever saw, and was totally gonna buy it, but not $8 gonna buy it. But I got about the gayest pair of Batman Safety Scissors from 1973. Also a Max Headroom notebook! I was considering getting an old Vader Wilton cake pan they had…. but I decided I’d leave it there for a more deserving fan.
Anyway, I’m gonna go introduce my cat to Super Soaker Man. WHEE FUN!
Ghosted by Mystie @ 04/29/2006 9:55 PM EDT
The ep had everything going for it. It’s hard for me to pinpoint exactly what is was, but there was something about it that was really old school/classic. Maybe it’s the supersized dose of Artie, or Christopher’s movie dreams, or just the fact that Tony’s becoming his old self again, or a bit of everything, I dunno. Can’t wait for the new one, though I’m not particularly eager for it to be Sunday night.
Bludge: I sure hope not
I’m in the mood for a movie tonight. I really need to stop buying DVDs of things I’ve seen 10,000 times and start buying stuff that’ll feel new.

Maybe, or maybe I could get roasted and watch Pikachu’s Winter Vacation.

You mean get roasted from watching Pikachu’s Winter Vacation?
Ghosted by dohopoki @ 04/29/2006 10:17 PM EDT
I was thinking of watching one of the Friday the 13ths. But I’m too lazy to go rent it now.

I bought a really old cell phone today, I don’t know what to do with it. But, it was 99 cents. A total impulse item.
Is anyone watching Flight 93, and how is it?
I was actually considering going out clubbing tonight, but I must be getting old because I’m too tired now. That whole getting smashed and watching Pokemon thing sounds kinda nice… cept all my Pokemon videos are in the garage and that’s a long walk. Maybe I’ll watch Sailor Moon instead.

I was off today, thank the good lord because it was my ONLY day off this week. Everyone once again took the same week for vacation and left the Acme short of help. Good for my paycheck, bad for my sanity.
I didn’t do much today – spent most of it in a library and riding around Haddon Township – but after working for most the week, that’s definately a good thing.

Does Reeces still make their PB in jars? That’s something that’s somewhat tough to find now.
While it’s still made, Lays "The Works" chips are also getting harder to find.

Double G, I love that eBay auction. Especially the serving suggestion!
The food I miss from childhood is Jello 1-2-3. If you don’t know about it, it was something you mixed up just like Jello, and as it set it separated into 3 layers. The bottom layer was basically Jello, and the top one was a delicious foamy mousse-like confection, and the middle layer tasted weird and had the consistency of human flesh. But I loved that stuff anyway.
I can’t watch that one Pokemon movie about the elemental islands without giggling when they talk about how they need to go to "Fire Island". Ha!

Too lazy to go find my screen name and password for AICN, and I’m not going through the sign in process. This is in response to the Transformers article over there with Michael Bay. I’m going to talk about stuff that was in their article, so I’m going to throw out a spoiler warning here…..
Ok..first they mention Shea Lebouf’s first car is going to be a 70’s car, and of course, a Transformer. Now the second biggest question about this movie I’ve heard is how they’ll do Soundwave, since you can’t have a tape recorder and tapes in this day and age of iPod’s and MP3’s. I think the vehicles/alternate mode will come from the 70’s when a tape recorder and tapes would be perfectly normal… hence the first car being a 70’s. I think the article gave too much away there.
My second thoughts concern taking away Prime’s mask to give him more emotion. It also involves casting the original voice actors, and having to give the Transformers more than glowing eyes, and more realistic eyes to convey emotion…
It makes perfect sense to cast the original voice actors (when possible, I would love Christoper Latta and Scatman Caruthers to be in this, but, well, if you’re still with me, you know why they’re not in this), because they can put the emotion in their voice! They did it before, they sold glowing blue and red eyes before, and they’re professionals at it!
I’m not against change, and I can see some of the logic behind it, I just think it needs to be thought through a little bit more. Than again, I’m not the one who has to sell this to Hollywood as a blockbuster movie either.
Thanks for listening to me.

Wow, it is an honor to be an actual part of the SNT. Never been around for this and believe it or not today I started getting into the Halloween spirit. I just received a few skulls and I am working on some new props for my yard haunt.

Today was rainy and about 45 degrees here, It felt very fallish. I dug out my fall themed Yankee Candles.
And I miss New York Seltzer.

Just got done watching "Hostel"…ummmm, aside from all the numerous tit-shots, the best part of the flick was Takashi Miike’s cameo.

But when you buy stuff you’re not as familiar with then you don’t know if it will stand up to repeated watching. That’s my issue, anyway, so everything I have on DVD are either TV boxsets or old fav movies that I buy but have no need to watch for the xth time but waste cash on anyway.
Do we really need filler at this stage? How many Sopranos eps are left, anyway? I have a perverse habit of forcing myself to enjoy things once I’ve decided I should so I’m in it until the end but I do kind of hope it was a "farewell Artie/take a breather before the really big shit hits the fan" thing.
I had totally forgotten about Jello 1-2-3!!! That stuff was the GREATEST!
Thanks!

Tigerfan- That’s awesome. It’s never too early to be in the Halloween spirit. I’m still maintaining pump from last Halloween. I want to go here: http://themeparks.universalstudios.com/orlando/hhn/ super bad this year. Has anyone been or heard stories from anyone that has? I think they can actually grab you in some of the houses there. It’s been about 10 years since I’ve been in a grab house.
I think that Boomerang is the new latenight cartoon hotness. They just had a whole Hero’s of DC block on.
What shows do you think they should add to Boomerang. I was thinking about the old James Bond Jr. show, and Captain N The GameMaster.
Ghosted by Joker @ 04/30/2006 12:48 PM EDT
They’ve been showing Batman and Superman for quite some time but just added Justice League this week. If they put Batman Beyond on they’ll have the whole DC animated universe going for them. Defiently better than Adult Swim.
Ghosted by dohopoki @ 04/30/2006 12:54 PM EDT
In between the shows they were showing old Aquaman shorts too. They were very bizarre and kept pronouncing Aqua, Ackwa.
Ghosted by Joker @ 04/30/2006 1:05 AM EDT
Invader Norbert: I’m guessing the SNL animated compilation (which has yet to air on my side of the country) didn’t have Consipiracy Theory Rock. Hey, if they wanted a COMPLETE collection…..
Yeah, Ackwa man is a good one. Sometimes they show the suicide inducing wonder twins and some fucked up drug trip of cartoon that involves some family that likes to shrink themselves and fight spiders. I think that one is a banana splits cartoon.

Okay, NOW I can say it: THIS is the first time I’ve participated in SNT while it was Saturday night. Being oriented as to the current day and time is a good thing, kids.
I’ve had a quiet Saturday night so far, spent it listening to music and watching anime. For me that’s not a bad Saturday at all, which is good because the car is in the shop. Stupid evil cars. I wish I lived someplace where you can at least walk to a few places. As it stands, it’s three miles of highway to the nearest *gas station*. Rural life sucks when you’re not shooting off fireworks in the backyard.

My week really sucked until Thursday night. But I’ve had an awesome weekend since then. And yes, my weekend did pretty much start Thursday night. And I only have two finals next week and then school’s out for me. I’m so excited!!
As far as foods I wish were still around, I miss Nestle’s banana flavored Quik powder. I don’t remember seeing it around for very long. If anyone knows if or where I can find some, let me know. Please.

Saturday Night Fever. Woot.
Just got back from Disney World. I’m so sunburnt and freezing cold. Anyways, it was awesome. The Lego store was soooooooo cool. I have some pics. http://s68.photobucket.com/albums/i12/rjs6281/Lego%20Store/
I don’t know who’s been to any of the Lego stores, but there’s this whole wall with little holes filled with Legos of all colors and then you get a little bucket and fill it up for $13.
The other awesome thing was the make your own Mr. Potato Head. They have a bunch of Disney paraphenalia for him/her and then you get a box and a potato body and whatever you can fit in the box (as long as you can close it) you can buy for $18. Right now my Mr. Potato Head is wearing a Donald Duck hat, a peg leg, an eyepatch, a Walt Disney World suitcase, an autograph book with Mickey Mouse’s signature, and a soda cup with Mickey Mouse’s head on it that I’m sure cost him at least a zillion dollars. My advice is if you decide to make one in WDW go to Downtown Disney to do it because they’re the only ones with ALL of the parts. More than likely if you get them anywhere else you’ll go to a different toy store and find a bunch of stuff you want that wasn’t at the other store. It’s annoying. I wanted the coonskin hat for Mr. P, but he’s gonna go without. And then in 20 years he’ll figure out in therapy that the reason his life sucks is all related to the coonskin hat I didn’t get him.
Okay, well sorry for the huge comment. Seacrest out.
Next week is great for me! I live in Japan and that means I have something called Golden Week coming up. This means I only work tomorrow and then have the rest of the week off. The gov’t manufactured a bunch of bogus holidays just to give the country a random (almost) week off. They work hard out here so the time off is a pretty cool thing!
Ghosted by rockasoo @ 04/30/2006 9:23 AM EDT
jazzy- I hear ya on the whole ‘rural life’ thing! My car is making weird noises, so I have been trapped inside too- you can’t walk ANYWHERE, everything is too far.
Manimal – I am the staff advisor for our prom! It is a nightmare! Prom girls are bitchy. Never get involved with a prom. Ours is this Saturday….I would rather stay home and SNT.
I also miss Banana flavor Quik- that stuff was sooo good. I would almost venture to say it’s better than chocolate.
Rebecca- That’s awesome. I will totally make a Potato Head when/if I ever get back to Disneyworld.
MATT – (and Eddie Lightning Frog)- If you’re looking for a great Haunted House, go to the one at Old Town amusement park in Kissimmee, FL. It’s on the main drag, (possibly near a waffle house…?) Anyways, it was pretty good- I won’t give it all away. Old Town itself is pretty good- they have an old "collector’s shop" which I know Matt will love- including tons of old trading cards- I got Gremlins, WWF, Back to the future and Ghostbuster movie trading cards. And they still sell bottles of Pepsi for 25 cents. It’s a good little spot.
Ok, I am done. Whew. This is what happens when I miss SNT- extra huge posts the next morning.

SNOWPSYCHO: I think they still make banana Quik, just not in powder form. You can get it in those 20 oz containers still, I believe.
SNL was great last night. Conspiracy Rock is on Youtube somewhere probably. I’ve always loved those "Fun with Real Audio" segments.
Another food I liked backed them were Hidden Valley Ranch’s kids dressings. Pizza, Taco, Nacho, and Super Creamy Ranch salad dressings. But it’s obvious that most kids won’t eat salads so I’m not surprised it’s gone.
Ghosted by JLAJRC @ 04/30/2006 12:25 PM EDT
Oh, we used to always have Pizza Ranch dressing on our salads. That stuff was awesome. As a kid, that’s the ONLY reason I ever ate salads…well, that and the little pepperonis on the Ryan’s salad bar.

There was a brand of microwave french fries, had a commercial that had something to do with a ufo. Came in a red box in 3 packs. You cooked them for 2 minutes, let them set for 2 minutes and you ended up with a very small portion of the best fucking french fries ever. At least I thought so. They might still make them but we don’t get them here anymore. There’s other microwave french fries out there but none as good as those were.
Ghosted by dohopoki @ 04/30/2006 12:58 PM EDT
Mmm… Pizza Ranch. Yeah, I used to eat that on salad all the time as a kid. Today I was drinking Kool-Aid bursts and you know what it make me think of? Squeeze-Its! I can’t believe they stopped making them.
Ghosted by Mystie @ 04/30/2006 1:00 PM EDT
They went good with those Pizza pouch things you put in the toaster. I think those might’ve been something hot pockets put out.
