Ooh SNT, I love it. Earlier and better than ever. This has been one long week.

No kidding. I’m just glad there’s only one week of school left.
I’ve been dreaming about commercial haunted houses a lot lately. It needs to be late September.
I’ve waited six months for warm weather, and I’m not giving it up for some commercial haunted houses.
I should move to Mexico.

Hahaha it’s different living in Texas. It’s super hot year round. Seeing some cold weather would be awesome.
On the same subject of spooky stuff, there was a great showing of Friday the 13th Part 3 in 3D at a local theater last night. Seeing Shelly take on the motorcycle punk is so much more fun when the chain is actually flying towards you.
Motherfucker. I want to see that in 3D so bad.

Motherfucker, I lived in Austin for a year.

Wow, I’ve never actually participated in SNT while it was actually still Saturday night.
The weather here in Florida is already hotter than I’d like it to be in July. Not a good sign. Of course our heat index is usually like 20 degrees higher than the actual temperature because it’s so humid.
It was hot enough today to make my root beer taste nasty because my body was begging for pure, ice cold water. And I loves me some root beer, so it has to be pretty hot for that to happen.

Rotten week for sure…goddamn 941 deadlines…x_x…I cannot wait for finals to be over either.
I didn’t know they were making an Over the Hedge movie! Don’t know how I feel about that. Haven’t read the strip in awhile but it’s way cute.

This weekend should be good. I have absolutely no plans other than to yard sale. This week was craptastic for me as well. Friday ended with a trip to the dentist. You know that thing that they scrape your teeth with? I hate it.

There’s some sort of flea market going on somwehere nearby, but I might not get to go. After spending 4 days at Enumerator training, I came home to my father slightly cut, telling me late tonight about how I was going to paint cement and throw wood into the basement tomorrow. Lame.
Happy weekend y’all.
jazzy don’t feel to bad, for a bit I thought half my weekend was gone and I was angry.

Cool! I may have to see that one.
The only strip I keep up with lately is 9 Chickweed Lane…hopefully there’s no off-putting CGI adaptation of that one coming down the pike. Actually I’d guess it’s one of the few comics nobody’s interesting in adapting…Even Brenda Starr’s got a better shot.
Yay Lakers! Poor Steve Nash, he looks so sad right now.

squee4242 @ 04/29/2006 2:04 AM EDT
I absolutely hate going to the dentist. Especially when they cram as many fingers and scrapey things and other crap in your mouth as possible, and then ask you questions. And it’s never a yes or no question, it’s always like "What are you studying?" or something.
I think dentists get great amusement out of watching people go "Urgnghhghh" and drool all over themselves.

It should be a good one here in England. It’s a three day weekend. Monday’s a holiday during which we have traditionally morris danced round a maypole (it’s some kind of fertility festival….google it). The soccer season is also coming to it’s climax. Manchester United v Chelsea should be a cracker!

May Day isn’t celebrated in the US…it’s too weird and it doesn’t seem to have a point. We prefer basing early-year holidays around groundhogs and the country of Ireland.

wiki:
"The Red Scare periods ended May Day as a mass holiday in the United States, a phenomenon which can be seen as somewhat ironic given that May Day originated in Chicago."

A daytime SNT? Now there’s something I can wrap my head around! I’m sick and tired of working on Saturday nights when I could be SNTing with the SNTers. Maybe I should just leave my job on the grounds that there is very little SNTing going on there.
I know this sounds bitchy because the "real world" is infinitely harder, but the only thing keeping me going for the next two weeks that I’m still in dumb, damn school is the ability to stare at this blog and refresh it two hundred times a day.

Down here in Brazil we’re having a three day weekend as well, monday is Labor Day. Not that it matters, since I’m swamped with work anyway…
Actually, this is the third holiday weekend in a row for us. There was the Easter weekend, then last friday (21st) we had one that celebrates a war hero (nowadays we know his story is bull, so they should be switching the celebration to the discovery of Brazil which is the nest day, but whatever), and now Labor Day. After this 3 weeke holiday-palooza, we’re holiday-free till June, on Corpus Christi, another 4-day weekend.

Why not do a survey? What discontinued/hard to find foods (grocery or restaurant) do you miss the most?
I miss It’s Pasta Anytime. Just nuke the pasta and sauce for 3 minutes and it tasted better than anything from a can. I want this back.
Starburst licorice: The only licorice I could stand. They came in various flavors and were delicious.
PB&J cookies: Basically, a sandwich cookie with PB&J. LOVED them as a kid.
Wendy’s Dave Deluxe- Best burger ever. A huge bacon cheeseburger that had grilled onions along with mayo and kethup. The bread was slightly different too.
McDonald’s McClub- Probably a test product that failed since I only had it once. Basically, take a hoagie bun, put three patties, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and had something that tasted like a combination Big Mac Sauce/Cheese Whiz on it. Awesome.

It’s boring, but I think I like it.

The thing about some of those McDonald’s luxury products is that they are not the kind of things that they would be good at. Remember the Arch Deluxe? That bombed because people who had it thought it was like an amateur’s attempt at making a luxurious-type burger.

The stuff I miss the most is the short-lived cookie flavored milk mix. I think Nestle made it, and it rocked, tasting like an Oreo milkshake, but obviously much easier to make. So delicious. I find it hard to believe such a great concept disapeared so soon. Seriously, COOKIE milk! I’d take that over the strawberry variant any day. I’ve been looking at the store ever since (this had to be the late 90’s), waiting for it’s return. Oh, and I don’t know how many people care, but TV Land is running a 48 Hour Miami Vice marathon this weekend. They seem to be replaying the eps about 3 times each, so you can catch everything if your interested. I am a huge Vice fan, and have both the DVD releases so far, and even though they are showing a lot of the season 1 & 2 stuff, there is still about 10 hours worth of uncovered eps, so my DVR is very busy this weekend. If you want to do it "old school" though and see the eps in original order, I have to warn you that they are liberally jumping around in what they are showing. They have included some of the best eps though, including the finale, and the "lost" ep.

Rob @ 04/29/2006 6:28 PM EDT
I remember Hardee’s fried chicken. I also remember that my family stopped buying it because I bit into a piece one time and it was bloody. Not just a little stray clot either, but enough blood to have the horrible, bitter taste of chicken blood ooze into your mouth. It goes without saying that it was not a pleasant experience.
I’m gonna have to admit that I miss Pepsi Blue. It was pretty good stuff (in my opinion) and it made awesome floats with vanilla ice cream.
Also, I don’t know if they still make Dunkaroos or not, but I haven’t seen them lately. I loved those things!

Happy Saturday evening, everyone.
I’m so fucking damn glad it’s here, though I’ll probably end up crashing waaaay sooner than I want to. I worked until 9:30 last night, got home about 10, then had to be BACK in there at 6am to work another 8 and 1/2 hours. Means I got up at 4:30. Isn’t there some kind of law against schedules like that!? There should be. Fuckers. I’m cranky.
We got Over the Hedge toys in at work recently. There is a truck of some sort, that does ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, and comes with 2 tiny little figurines that just sit there. There’s a pack of 4 figurines, too, and there is also some "beanie" type plushies, and bigger ones that talk. They crazy squirrel says that he can belch the alphabet, and proceeds to do A, B, and C. the movie looks cute, but those toys just don’t do anything for me. :/

jazzy, they still make Dunkaroos. Although, they have a new (less cool) kangaroo mascot. Instead of a cool safari get-up like the original, he’s wearing a sweater that looks as though it was crocheted for him by grandma. Maybe I’m making that up.
I was just in the cereal/snack aisle agonizing over which cereal to buy. Why did all of the mascots change? Argh.

I hate how Cookie Crisp has that stupid wolf mascot now. Why would a wolf love cookies? Even if I like the idea of a wolf eating cookies, which now that I think about it I might, it’s still a dumb mascot change. They didn’t even come up with a new name for him, they just slapped him with Chip. Chip was the dog, and I’m not going to forget it.

I’m doing another rewatch on last week’s Sopranos, because Artie’s ass rape meltdown is still incredibly amusing and it’s been an off day. How long before Tony’s back to his old habits? As soon as I heard that Julianna Margulius (sp) was cast I figured she’d be a love interest, and that’s certainly the way they played it in the previews but those editors are tricksy.

But I got about the gayest pair of Batman Safety Scissors from 1973. Also a Max Headroom notebook! I was considering getting an old Vader Wilton cake pan they had…. but I decided I’d leave it there for a more deserving fan.

The ep had everything going for it. It’s hard for me to pinpoint exactly what is was, but there was something about it that was really old school/classic. Maybe it’s the supersized dose of Artie, or Christopher’s movie dreams, or just the fact that Tony’s becoming his old self again, or a bit of everything, I dunno. Can’t wait for the new one, though I’m not particularly eager for it to be Sunday night.

Double G, I love that eBay auction. Especially the serving suggestion!
The food I miss from childhood is Jello 1-2-3. If you don’t know about it, it was something you mixed up just like Jello, and as it set it separated into 3 layers. The bottom layer was basically Jello, and the top one was a delicious foamy mousse-like confection, and the middle layer tasted weird and had the consistency of human flesh. But I loved that stuff anyway.

Too lazy to go find my screen name and password for AICN, and I’m not going through the sign in process. This is in response to the Transformers article over there with Michael Bay. I’m going to talk about stuff that was in their article, so I’m going to throw out a spoiler warning here…..
Ok..first they mention Shea Lebouf’s first car is going to be a 70’s car, and of course, a Transformer. Now the second biggest question about this movie I’ve heard is how they’ll do Soundwave, since you can’t have a tape recorder and tapes in this day and age of iPod’s and MP3’s. I think the vehicles/alternate mode will come from the 70’s when a tape recorder and tapes would be perfectly normal… hence the first car being a 70’s. I think the article gave too much away there.
My second thoughts concern taking away Prime’s mask to give him more emotion. It also involves casting the original voice actors, and having to give the Transformers more than glowing eyes, and more realistic eyes to convey emotion…
It makes perfect sense to cast the original voice actors (when possible, I would love Christoper Latta and Scatman Caruthers to be in this, but, well, if you’re still with me, you know why they’re not in this), because they can put the emotion in their voice! They did it before, they sold glowing blue and red eyes before, and they’re professionals at it!
I’m not against change, and I can see some of the logic behind it, I just think it needs to be thought through a little bit more. Than again, I’m not the one who has to sell this to Hollywood as a blockbuster movie either.
Thanks for listening to me.

But when you buy stuff you’re not as familiar with then you don’t know if it will stand up to repeated watching. That’s my issue, anyway, so everything I have on DVD are either TV boxsets or old fav movies that I buy but have no need to watch for the xth time but waste cash on anyway.
Do we really need filler at this stage? How many Sopranos eps are left, anyway? I have a perverse habit of forcing myself to enjoy things once I’ve decided I should so I’m in it until the end but I do kind of hope it was a "farewell Artie/take a breather before the really big shit hits the fan" thing.

I’ve had a quiet Saturday night so far, spent it listening to music and watching anime. For me that’s not a bad Saturday at all, which is good because the car is in the shop. Stupid evil cars. I don’t know who’s been to any of the Lego stores, but there’s this whole wall with little holes filled with Legos of all colors and then you get a little bucket and fill it up for $13.
The other awesome thing was the make your own Mr. Potato Head. They have a bunch of Disney paraphenalia for him/her and then you get a box and a potato body and whatever you can fit in the box (as long as you can close it) you can buy for $18. Right now my Mr. Potato Head is wearing a Donald Duck hat, a peg leg, an eyepatch, a Walt Disney World suitcase, an autograph book with Mickey Mouse’s signature, and a soda cup with Mickey Mouse’s head on it that I’m sure cost him at least a zillion dollars. My advice is if you decide to make one in WDW go to Downtown Disney to do it because they’re the only ones with ALL of the parts. More than likely if you get them anywhere else you’ll go to a different toy store and find a bunch of stuff you want that wasn’t at the other store. It’s annoying. I wanted the coonskin hat for Mr. P, but he’s gonna go without. And then in 20 years he’ll figure out in therapy that the reason his life sucks is all related to the coonskin hat I didn’t get him.
Okay, well sorry for the huge comment. Seacrest out.

Next week is great for me! I live in Japan and that means I have something called Golden Week coming up. This means I only work tomorrow and then have the rest of the week off. The gov’t manufactured a bunch of bogus holidays just to give the country a random (almost) week off. They work hard out here so the time off is a pretty cool thing!

jazzy- I hear ya on the whole ‘rural life’ thing! My car is making weird noises, so I have been trapped inside too- you can’t walk ANYWHERE, everything is too far.
Manimal - I am the staff advisor for our prom! It is a nightmare! Prom girls are bitchy. Never get involved with a prom. Ours is this Saturday….I would rather stay home and SNT.
I also miss Banana flavor Quik- that stuff was sooo good. I would almost venture to say it’s better than chocolate.
Rebecca- That’s awesome. I will totally make a Potato Head when/if I ever get back to Disneyworld.
MATT - (and Eddie Lightning Frog)- If you’re looking for a great Haunted House, go to the one at Old Town amusement park in Kissimmee, FL. It’s on the main drag, (possibly near a waffle house…?) Anyways, it was pretty good- I won’t give it all away. Old Town itself is pretty good- they have an old "collector’s shop" which I know Matt will love- including tons of old trading cards- I got Gremlins, WWF, Back to the future and Ghostbuster movie trading cards. And they still sell bottles of Pepsi for 25 cents. It’s a good little spot.
Ok, I am done. Whew. This is what happens when I miss SNT- extra huge posts the next morning.

Best. SNL. Ever.
And Disney Vault was included!
Only bad parts? The cartoons before the commericial beaks get cut off halfway!
Bambi 2002, the Smurfette, the new Charlie Brown and one other so far got cut. I’m getting the DVD when it comes out.

SNOWPSYCHO: I think they still make banana Quik, just not in powder form. You can get it in those 20 oz containers still, I believe.
SNL was great last night. Conspiracy Rock is on Youtube somewhere probably. I’ve always loved those "Fun with Real Audio" segments.
Another food I liked backed them were Hidden Valley Ranch’s kids dressings. Pizza, Taco, Nacho, and Super Creamy Ranch salad dressings. But it’s obvious that most kids won’t eat salads so I’m not surprised it’s gone.

I think that Boomerang is the new latenight cartoon hotness. They just had a whole Hero’s of DC block on.
What shows do you think they should add to Boomerang. I was thinking about the old James Bond Jr. show, and Captain N The GameMaster.

Oh, we used to always have Pizza Ranch dressing on our salads. That stuff was awesome. As a kid, that’s the ONLY reason I ever ate salads…well, that and the little pepperonis on the Ryan’s salad bar.

They’ve been showing Batman and Superman for quite some time but just added Justice League this week. If they put Batman Beyond on they’ll have the whole DC animated universe going for them. Defiently better than Adult Swim.

There was a brand of microwave french fries, had a commercial that had something to do with a ufo. Came in a red box in 3 packs. You cooked them for 2 minutes, let them set for 2 minutes and you ended up with a very small portion of the best fucking french fries ever. At least I thought so. They might still make them but we don’t get them here anymore. There’s other microwave french fries out there but none as good as those were.

Mmm… Pizza Ranch. Yeah, I used to eat that on salad all the time as a kid. Today I was drinking Kool-Aid bursts and you know what it make me think of? Squeeze-Its! I can’t believe they stopped making them.

They went good with those Pizza pouch things you put in the toaster. I think those might’ve been something hot pockets put out.

YES!!!! I loved those!! When I was younge,r I had em almost every night until they were discountinued, to which I’m still very bitter about.
It was still the best SNL ever, even though Conspiracy Theory Rock was nowhere to be seen (but there were 24 other awesome shorts too).

Does anyone remember those juice things that came in like an accordian type bottle? Kind of like the bendy part of a bendy straw. I have no idea what they were. I just have a vague memory of drinking them and then me and my sister playing with them in the bathtub.
Were those Squeeze-Its? I don’t remember what Squeeze-Its were.

Had I known it was T.V. Funhouse on SNL I would have stayed home instead of going to watch "shes the man" at the cheapie theater. Evidently its based on shakespear so I’m at least going to count it as a culturle event.

Disneyland is the best, especially now that Space Mountain is re-opened and New and Improved! Even faster I hear!

I officially decided to never go to Disneyland/world when I heard that if you die in the park, they carry you out to the parking lot before the coroner can legally declare you dead. Since its the happiest place on Earth, no one is allowed to actually die there.
At first I thought it was just a silly urban legend, but upon closer research it indeed appears to be true. I have no idea why that unsettles me so.

I, too, want more Disney info.
I’m going for my honeymoon in October, and am already tingling with excitement.

I hope everyone had a great weekend. I did watch SNL as well and I haven’t seen the ambigiously gay duo in a while, and I don’t see them enough. I like the end with a fake crying jimmy fallon. That should be a once a season thing, a whole show that is a cartoon takeover. I think that would help the show.
I don’t remember the lego cubbies!! That rawks, I have heard of the biggest M & M candy store, with tubes that you can fill up a little brown bag with ANY color you can think of MM candy wise. I hopefully will go there sometime in my life. Now THAT’S a family vacation. F.ckin grand canyon can’t compare with candy tubes.

Regarding the rumor about not being able to die on Disney property, I don’t think it’s true. Two years ago a character playing Pluto was run over by a parade float and died at the scene. Also, in 1999 another employee fell off the now extinct Skyway platform 40 feet to his death…. Kind of reminds me of that episode of Mary Tyler Moore when she goes to the funeral of Chuckles the Clown (who got crushed to death by an elephant) and can’t stop laughing. It’s obviously tragic, but far too bizarre not to laugh at.
Anyways, there are many more documented cases of people dying on Disney property. I think it’s an urban legend. Urban legends live on because people want to believe them. I mean, it is a great urban legend, it would be super creepy if it were true, but I doubt it is. Just my opinion, though.
