04/02/2006: Cell phone pics & King Kong Twinkies.

In an unexpected twist and a sign of Hell freezing over, I’ve posted two new articles at the same time. Ooh ooh ah ah. First up, big globs of text and grainy images as I empty out the pictures from my cell phone camera and try to remember the whats and whys of their existence. Blah. Secondly, and much shorter, is my tribute to King Kong Banana Twinkies, from Hostess and apes.

Monday Edit: Did some light editing work on the cell phone pics article, and added a bonus section to the Kong Twinkies article. Because I could.

Matt, if that is you in the gorilla gloves, my question is how in the world were you able to take that photograph? Ah, some mysteries will always remain mysteries.

squee, forget about two sets of novelty hands, I have Hulk, Thing, and King Kong hands. But really, you probably made the right choice. Matt didn’t really get into how much they suck. First of all, they make the same noise every time. Secondly, where other novelty hands are made of thick foam, these are thin rubber, which means two things: first, they make your hands sweaty as hell, and second they provide no padding at all when you hit stuff. They do look good on a shelf though.

Matt,

Have you tried the new Coke Blak? I just did and it is nasty. It comes in a glass bottle with a screw on cap which is cool but the Coke coffee taste is too much.

Happy late birthday Mara. :)

So, what would look better on the end of a bat, Beavis and Butthead style, Kong, Thing, or Hulk hand?

GOd, I love this article. I really loved those photos of your cats. I’ve heard mentions of them in other articles on your site, but can you please do an article on them. Or would that put you in the category of "webmaster who only posts pics of cute animals" Like those ones run by 13-year-old-girls. Damn girls. YOU GAVE THE ABOMINATION THAT IS N’SYNC LIFE!

I dunno about Coke Blak – It looked nasty. I love IBC Root Beer in the bottle. A cold IBC and reruns of Knight Rider on INHD2. Now where did I put that bag of Funyons.

Thanks Poopie :)

I keep getting banned from the site somehow, I don’t know what happens with this, and i missed the last 2 blogs now.

For the previous topic from saturday:

I don’t have Boomerang, but CN played a good joke at 11pm on saturday. Instead of an Inuyasha ep, they showed an episode of Chuck Norris: Karate Kommandos. I only caught the last 15 minutes, but it was the fucking freakiest thing I’ve ever seen (and I’ve seen all but 2 eps of Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo). It was the total embodiment of an 80s cartoon:

-Misleading title? Check
-Crappy Animation? Check
-D level Celeb getting his own cartoon show? Check
-characters who look absolutely nothing like the real people? Check
-the Real Chuck Norris appearing at the end explaining the "moral" of the episode? Check
-Ninjas? Double Check

Norbert: It is because you are too much for the internet to handle.

So where are you hep cats finding your Blak? I’ve looked at a couple of places, but I haven’t been able to find any. It’s slowly becoming an obsession. I know that mixing coffee and soda is probably a bad idea, but dammit Bones, we’ve got to try.

Ghosted by Jedoc @ 04/05/2006 7:35 AM EDT

Jedoc-
where do you live? I’m seeing it everywhere. Grocery stores, target, and gas stations.
I haven’t tried it yet, but I am curious now. So maybe I’ll skip my after work latte and go for it.

Abilene. Colloquially known as "The Sticks." The buckle of the Bible Belt. The festering boil on the arse of the Big Country. I can only assume that somebody tried to sell Blak around here, and were subsequently burned as a witch. That sort of thing tends to have a cooling effect on the local carbonated beverage market.

Ghosted by Jedoc @ 04/05/2006 9:09 AM EDT

hmmm….so you love it there huh? Well, I will try it and let you know if it’s worth venturing out of the festering boil to find.

Matt, thanks to you i finally decided to try the infamous "marshmallow peeps".
Jesus Tap-Dancin christ!
these lil’ buggers are incredible!!
Up until recently they were near impossible to find where i live, St. Johns Newfoundland, But after much searching I found them in my local grocery store, BUT they never carry the halloween bats or ghosts etc. Nor do they carry frankenberry/boo berry im going to have to hit up some family i have stateside for that.
anyway, awesome site, Ive been reading for years, keep it up!

JoshC…welcome to a brave, new world. Now that you’ve tried Peeps, try them in different ways. Toast ‘em like a marshmallow, let them get hard and stale, freeze them. It’s a brand new game every time.

Ghosted by mtrox @ 04/05/2006 12:06 PM EDT

I can only handle a couple of Peeps at a time, it’s just too much sugar to intake at once . . . does that make me less of a woman?

Ghosted by Julie @ 04/05/2006 12:25 PM EDT

Thanks mtrox, now i have to aquire some chocalte halloween peeps and my life is complete!

Ghosted by JoshC @ 04/05/2006 12:27 PM EDT

Julie:

The only thing that would make you less of a woman is if you didn’t like Peeps in the first place. America (or your country of origin) is just proud that you support the fine JustBorn Marshmallow Peeps brand!

Ghosted by mtrox @ 04/05/2006 1:27 PM EDT

I’ve got a mouthful of Peep right now.

Ghosted by kingklash @ 04/05/2006 1:48 PM EDT

Nice one, Jedoc. It’s like a trebu-shark!

So did Carlito spit in the face of Kong? I know he’s an jerk, but…you’d think he’d have some sort of brain up underneath that fro. Well, I guess some needed to edjumacate him, and who better then Super Monkey?

Hey Squee, what happened to Allison? I mean I know I only post sporadically, but she was a regular and then poof gone. Didn’t she lose her job or something? BTW Matt, those articles rocked out loud.

Ghosted by bloodybrilliantme @ 04/05/2006 3:28 PM EDT

Coca Cola Blak is gross.

Ghosted by Scott @ 04/05/2006 4:02 PM EDT

bloodybrilliant I recall a post from someone saying that she’d posted in Mystie’s blog about not being able to access the site.

Ghosted by squee4242 @ 04/05/2006 7:43 PM EDT

That cell phone article was like a trip down memory lane…and I was glad to see that Matt had (mostly) a good time in Toronto. I didn’t know that they don’t have Bloody Caesars in the States. Huh!

I know whenever I go on trips, I usually tell people details such as: the condition of the hotel room shower, the selection of arcade games in the lobby, the availability of snack foods in the hallways…these small details are the makings of great trips!

And I was wondering about Alison as well. And where is Trajeal? We’ve lost her again. :(

I still haven’t been able to see King Kong…hopefully this weekend. If the XE bloggers give it good reviews, then I usually go with that, and trust you guys. I feel we are a blog full of good judgement.

Oh man… don’t mention Peeps. I just… I ate pizza with Peeps on top. Oh God they soaked up so much grease. I think I’m gonna hurl. Someone hold my hair.

Ghosted by Mystie @ 04/05/2006 9:26 PM EDT

Hey Mystie…………………………………..PEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEPS!!!
your post made me laugh my ass off..pizza and peeps sounds evil,EVIL I TELLS YA!!!

As I learned from one of my favorite Loony Toons ‘toons, what’s good for queasiness, is a nice big juicy piece of Salt Pork.

I didn’t say it cures it. I just like offering it to the nauseous.

I can’t believe I made it all the way through the comments without someone pointing out that Twinkies originally had banana-flavored cream. Now I need to find out why they stopped…

Sorry for the double post. From the Washington Post:

Banana cream-filled Twinkies — selling two for a nickel — debuted as part of the Hostess baked-goods line. During World War II, when there was a banana shortage, the filling flavor changed to vanilla.

Aw, I loved the pics of the kitties. I have four of them and a dog, so I guess I’m a sucker for that stuff.

*Grrrrr* Now I’m hungry. Damn you all for talking about Peeps and bananna twinkies!

Ghosted by Kieran Alexis @ 04/09/2006 12:46 PM EDT

Weren’t Twinkies banana flavored originally?

Man, the Heinz people seem to have taken down the purple ketchup website! THat was quick.

Kong site also seems to be screaming less now… or is that me?

Good one Matty
