McDonald’s Shamrock Shakes, At Last!

Shamrock Shakes, they're a beautiful green...the most beautiful green that you've ever seen! In somewhat of a Part 2 to my old St. Patrick's Day guide, today I proudly yell from the rooftops that I finally, finally, finally found a McDonald's Shamrock Shake, the triple thick, minty green seasonal treats that promise to make even us eyetallions lie and say we're part Irish.

Awesome. Shamrock shakes, an article AND a commercial with a theme song. O’fun.

I love long pointless hunts for shit like that. I have to get one now.

Matt,
Which do you prefer, the Shamrock Shake or the Arctic Orange? I’m an Orange man myself.

Sweet Jesus it’s that time of year already. Time to start hitting the streets.

Glad to see you’ve finally found one. I remember you mentioning it last year.

P.S. I’ve never had a problem finding Sham-shakes in the Harrisburg, PA area, assuming the time of year is March-ish.

This year, I’m goin’ on the hunt for a Shamrock Shake. Not a long or incredibly involved hunt, but I would like to try one.

BTW, by hunt, I mean probably a phone call.

I guess a mall location would be your best bet for selling seasonal dairy impulse buys…my McD’s has them every year but I find the whole idea icky since McDonalds shakes are nasty even when they aren’t green tinted.
Off topic but I must share my spoils from the Radio Shack toy clearance: I am now the proud owner of Kong Electronic Pinball! No clue where I’ll put the dumb thing but it definitely deserves a prominent location.

I’ve yet to have a Shamrock Shake, and I still haven’t had Kool-Aid either. I feel like I’m really missing out on some great, unhealthy fluids.

Shamrock Shakes are good, but they’re only good for like half a small before you get McDonald Green Shake Gutrot.

I somehow made the mistake of getting the large Shamrock Shake not once but twice. I never learn. The second one I drank the entire 15-minute drive home and still wasn’t done with. And yeah, your poop will be green for about 48 hours.

Now you just need to find me a Taco Bell that still serves the Chili Cheese Burrito and my life will be complete.

They changed the recipe! At least where I live, they are no longer that delightful mint. NO! Now they’ve added some key lime crap into the mix. It was a sad day.

Damn that looks good. They need to make a Halloween milkshake. And by they, I mean every fast food restaurant in the galaxy.

First off, congrats Matt on being able to taste that Holy Grail of the St. Paddy’s Day Celebration…that is the Shamrock Shake. I have yet to taste one of those bad boys….Sadly, when I’ve been checking the McDonalds near me…they never have them. I will check again…I’ve got all week. If it takes till the day I die…I will taste that sweet nectar. (and no I’m not a nut….the rest of my XE fam know i’m not) :D

"I’m not perfect, but I’m working on it… I’m lovin’ it"

Anybody else think this is to subliminally persuade customers into feeling less guilty about gorging themselves on fast food?

Oh. My. God. Matt, did you watch Sopranos? Damn. My favorite single thing was the first shot of Melfi’s, with Tony and Dr. M wearing the contrasting colors. Big Love seems intriguing so far but it hasn’t really grabbed me yet.

I’m in a hotel lobby in Orlando, Florida — but when I get back to Cincinnati, I vow to find a Shamrock Shake and show it who is boss!

this is about the older st. patts article:

the cakes’ "arms" are actually his mutton chops i do believe.

we are helping. we are helping.

Dude, the entire time, I was WAITING for you to make a reference to those horrible Leprechaun movies. You know! The one where you can see all the way up Angela Basset’s Ass-et! So you get NOTHING. YOU LOSE! GOOD DAY SIR!

Shamrock Shake + Lucky Charms = St. Patty goodness.

Here’s a webpage with some more old McDonald’s commercials including another Shamrock Shake ad.

Matt, I just read the old St. Patty’s Day guide again, and I’ve reached a conclusion. If you refrain from ever using the phrase "folds of tube-pressed vanilla" again, I would consider it a profound personal favor. That is all.

Chestnuts roasted by Jedoc @ 03/12/2006 11:57 PM

Good stuff w/ the article! My gf and I have decided to go out on St. Patty’s Day and buy Shamrock Shakes for the first time! Fortunately, we don’t have the disadvantage of having to drive to NJ to get one…unfortunately, we have no money.

Meh…

I love how Tori Amos gets mentioned in this article.
I always thought Shamrock Shakes tasted like toothpaste, and drinking one was like swallowing a mouthfull of Aquafresh.

Speaking of McDonalds and frustration, I could have swore to God that they briefly gave out chopsticks around ’86! No one believes me and thinks I’m making stuff up. Maybe I am. For my sanity, please someone confirm or deny this.

Hello,

Just to let you all know, I hate all of you (except for Matt).

Why you ask? Well…

I’ve never:
Had a McDonald’s Shamrock Shake.
Been to a concert.
Been to a Wrestlemania.
Drank Pitch Black Mountain Dew I/II.
Drank Pepsi Holiday Spice.
Drank Jones Holiday Soda (any kind).

Being in Germany I can’t:
Go to Target.
Go to Wal-Mart.
Go to Toys R Us.

So no new DVD/Video Games/Sports Cards/Movies until many months after they are released.

Sigh…And it is Monday.

Semper Fi,
Erik Majorwitz
