Prized possession? Hmmmm…

Well, my most expensive thing would be my collection of Star Wars toys or my DVD collection, but I don’t think I prize them most highly.

Little stuff. A belt my best friend made for me out of twist ties. My friend’s Dr. Zaius ID card…oh, there’s a story there.

I took my friend’s student ID and digitally pasted Dr. Zaius’ head over his own. He used that monkey ID to take his SATs (you need valid photo ID), and when they looked at him questioningly, he told them he had leprosy. They let him take the test.

Crappy story…

Pictures, holiday greeting cards from my first girlfriend, the Emmett Otter’s Jugband Christmas MP3′s I made…

Another one is my Survivor dog-tag (like the TV show Survivor), which is my good luck charm. I’ve been applying since my 21st birthday to be on the show, and I feel like the tag is a good luck charm. I will make it. And I will be the first Survivor castaway to mention Peeps and XE on the air.

My favorite cartoon voice artists were both in Thundercats and they were also both in The Life & Adventures of Santa Claus.

Larry Kenney – Lion-O
Earle Hyman – Panthro

You might also remember Earle from all his work as Bill Cosby’s father on The Cosby Show.

As for my most prized? I have a bunch of stuff from my brother that passed away, including old comics and drawings. Also, my new laptop that the gf got me for Christmas. This thing is amazing and the widescreen on the sucker is beautiful. =)

I’m especially fond of the Magic Bullet ‘mercial with the surreal bed and breakfast where the smarmy Australian dude shows you how few seconds it takes to make alfredo sauce.
Another thing I prize is my faux Tivo because it lets me catch so many things I’d never see otherwise (trashy daytime tv, syndicated reruns), plus I can watch all my favorite shows twenty minutes late and zip past the ads. Is that a scandalous admission? I recommend my favs to everyone so I feel like I make up for it.
ONLY 20 HOURS UNTIL NEW SOPRANOS!!!!

I want to change my answer for most prized possession! I should have named my degree. I worked hard enough for it. Going back to school after you flunk out is HARD. They take away all those nice scholarships, which means you get to pay for that degree for a long time after you’re done.

As for my favorite voice actor, I’d have to say Peter Cullen. He played Optimus Prime in the original Transformers. If you can’t tell, I’m still a freak for the G1 TFs. I don’t think I would have found Prime so cool/heroic if it wasn’t for that awesome voice. He also did lots of other parts for TFs, most notably (for me) Ironhide. I checked IMDB, and he was in tons of other shows in the 80s like GI Joe (lots of parts, but Nemesis Enforcer was the coolest) and Knight Rider (as K.A.R.R.). I don’t know who they’ve cast as Prime for the new TFs movie due out ?next year?, but I think I’d probably soil myself if they got Peter Cullen. Every time I hear him on a commercial voiceover, I feel like I’m listening to my childhood hero.

I’m surprised no one has mentioned Chris Latta. He was Starscream and Cobra Commander, as well as lots of other 80s voices. Too bad he died young.

Me and my friend were toying around with the IMDB one day, playing "Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon" and I think Peter Cullen has a bacon number of 3. Something to do with Winnie the Pooh and Tremors.

trajeal, kidneyboy-

Stephen King has to be one of the world’s greatest living authors, beyond just the commercial success.

The Stand was brilliant. To this day I still sometimes daydream about how I’d handle it if almost everyone died but I survived. It’s morbid, but also fun. What would you do if no one would stop you from doing whatever you wanted? I think I’d find a generator and play video games. That, and I would get myself a classic Mustang. After all the gasoline was gone/jelled, I’m not sure.

The Dark Tower series was just awesome. When the final book came out, I started reading after I got home from work that Friday and didn’t stop until Saturday afternoon- no sleep, no food, and I took it with me to the bathroom and went one-handed. What a mess!

I almost wish he actually had retired after that book, like he talked about. It would have been an incredible end to a wonderful career. As it is, I don’t expect to find DT references in books from now on, which is kind of sad. That was part of the fun of SK- reading his other books and making predictions with my buddy Jon on what would happen in the next DT book. His stuff after DT can’t possibly live up to that standard. I read "Cell" and it was only okay, not great.

Should have refreshed again before posting! Indeed, Matt has me pegged…besides Clancy Brown I’d have to say my fav voice actor is Carlos Alazraqui (Rocko, Camp Lazlo, Mucha Lucha). Mel Blanc, of course…Yeardley Smith…Can I count Andy Serkis? Ooh, Steven Blum (Cowboy Bebop) too!
19 hours 15 minutes!

Chestnuts roasted by squee4242 @ 03/12/2006 1:46 AM

Oh God, the Magic Bullet… yes.

I’m a freak about anime voices. I’ve actually been completely obsessed with the guy that does Vicious’ voice in Cowboy Bebop, but do you think I can find a picture of him ANYWHERE? Hell no. I just wanna see what that guy looks like! His name is George C. Cole. Alot of sites have him listed as someone else, but I know that’s his name. I’ve done way too much digging.

Chestnuts roasted by Ryane @ 03/12/2006 1:49 AM

Ahhhh Spike. :) The funniest thing I’ve heard Steven Blum do is 7-11 ads. He’s #2 on my list. ;)

Chestnuts roasted by Ryane @ 03/12/2006 1:51 AM

Best possessions: my Jeep Wrangler or Fender Strat/Tweed Blues DeLuxe amp combo.

Best cartoon voices: Frank Welker or Billy West.

Chestnuts roasted by Another Matt @ 03/12/2006 2:08 AM

Also…I own the complete run of both major Smurfs series on DVD and 2 production cels from that show. Can’t ever show anyone though, not even the wife :)

I hate Sundays because they are close to Mondays, and this always makes me want to stay up as late as possible on Saturday nights, even when I’m so unbelievably tired that I manage to get things caught on fire and/or break them, like right now, so you can see zzzzzzzzzzz.

Chestnuts roasted by Matt @ 03/12/2006 2:33 AM

I’ve been procrastinating a project so I’ve got major Monday dread myself. Blech.
17 hours 40ish minutes!

Chestnuts roasted by squee4242 @ 03/12/2006 3:25 AM

I’d have to say my "the untold ledgend of Batman" #2 comic i got autographed by Adam West.

You’re a weekend only insomniac, Matt? Join the club. I just drink inordinant amounts of Dr. Pepper, wait for my bittorented pirated video to load and lick the walls of my room- they tast like fucking icecream. I’m not fucking kidding you- motherfucking icecream! Back in my day, we had to walk all the way to Timbuktu to see baby jesus tame a dinosauer, but you damn kids and your playboxes! What happened to Tippy Canoo and Hutch! I once saw a dog, he said he was going to invent the internet. The man who became the non president. Sometimes I think YTMND is detrimental to my health.

Probably the munchkin-sized skull I shoplifted from the "Pirates of the Caribbean" shop in Disney World when I was 15. I drilled a hole through it, put it on a chain, and wore it as an ovesized pendant for years. There was a remarkable amount of street-cred attached to that thing among the other fifteen-year-olds.

I still have it somewhere, and it reminds me that…well…that there was a time when I would do things like steal a miniature skull from Walt Disney and wear it to a Nuclear Assault show.

I need to get HBO so I can see what it is that makes squee so excited. I want to be that excited. Oh well, I still have The Office.

Spaz307-

I’m actually from Steven Kings home town. When ROTJ special edition opened in theaters while I was waiting in line I saw him go into sling blade. Then a few years later I neglected to hold a door open for him at a pharmacy because I didn’t recognize him at first. Guy makes 22 million a year in book sales and I didn’t hold the door open :P .

It was right after that guy hit him with a car. He had a black cane that was all gnarled like the Emperors. His house is usually the balls at halloween.

My most prized possession is either my childhood VHS collection or the box of photos/cards/books from when I was a kid that I have all together in case I have to run out in a fire.

Chestnuts roasted by Jessica Marie @ 03/12/2006 9:07 AM

My most prized possession is a ring that belongs to my fiancee. She gave it to me when we first met, and ive worn it around my neck every minute for the last 4 1/5 years.

Chestnuts roasted by DemonKyoto @ 03/12/2006 9:45 AM

You did better than I did, Matt. I only managed to stay up til about 1:30am. Thus I prevented burning anything or breaking anything. Well, a small crack in the dress of my Cupcake doll. I swear the Tonka versions weren’t this hard to flip around!

One of these days I want to go to a non-anime con! If only I wasn’t cursed with such a terrible sense of direction I might actually accomplish that. I’m only about 60mi from Philly and I never ever ever ever go because I’ve got myself convinced I’ll get lost, stranded, robbed, gang-raped, and murdered. I was to the East Coast Gaming Expo, but that doesn’t really count as it’s run by my older brother.

Yesterday was my B-Day. YAY! A big thanks to the group that took me to the Olive Garden. You know who you are. Tour of Italy was the bomb.

My most prized posession is a 1981 Ferrari 308gtsi that I inherited from my father. The car is off the road in storage right now. It’s sky blue with blue leather interior. Its the Magnum P.I. car. Dad – Thanks.

Ok, coming more of a nineties kid than an eighties kid, JIM CUMMINGS is my favorite voice over artist. He’s done everything.

He’s the modern day Winnie the Pooh and Tigger (bad example, but listen). He was ZUmmi Gummi. He was Monterey Jack and Fat Cat in Rescue Rangers.
He was Razoul in Aladdin, which is an awesome movie.

Look him up, he’s probably the voice of one of your family members.

Oh, and he was Mr. Bumpy!
