02/04/2006: Late Nite SNL
Do what you will.
Edit: I did the packaging (the bookends, not the actual toons) for the five LEGO spots found here. Check ‘em before they’re eliminated.

First Post!
I’ve been capturing screen shots from all my DVDs ever since I learned how to. I got Akira, Robotech and He-Man screen shots so far and I’m very proud of this. I need a more constructive hobby, like shaving small mammals.

Chestnuts roasted by
Darth Poop @ 02/04/2006 10:51 PM EST
And the "got" before Akira should have been "have".

Darth Poop @ 02/04/2006 10:53 PM EST
Or Lincoln Logs or Legos… hobbies don’t get much more constructive than that.

The opening SNL sketch is hilarious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I kinda lost interest in Pokemon when they started switching Ash’s friends around (Brock/Mystie rule, everyone else sucks) and giving us lame new Pokemon (I sorta cried when Charizard left, that was a great episode, along with the origin of Meowth). The first Pokemon movie was cool, the others sucked.
I liked Pokemon Pinball (of course, it’s hard too screw up a pinball game) and the first series of Poke RPG’s. Could never beat them though. Never quite understood the point of Pokemon Snap (Let’s take pics of pokemon, Yawn.)
Allison, where have you disappeared to? We miss you here.
Can’t wait for SNL. Watched Grizzley Man on Discovery Channel last night (it’s on again tonite). GREAT Documentary and I can’t believe it got the Oscar snub (especially with the overrated Murderball and Penguin movie, I haven’t seen Aristocrats yet).
Can’t wait to watch the Superbowl commercials tomorrow (could care less about football itself). That would make a great article.

I’m watching SNL, and in my opinion, it’s great.

Just watched the 2nd to last disk of Lost, soon off to bed. I really wanted Shannon to die, though I’ll have to be content with her Abercrombie brother. Feh…bedtime.
Ahh… I saw some of those spots and was wondering what your hand was in them. Admirable.

Can I tell you a secret? I will usually only post is there is less then 50 comments. Mostly I just don’t have time or the desire to read through more then that, but surveys are probably the exception. Ok…that’s my secret.
Oh, and I also need to finish my financial aid application. Heading back to college after some time off is scary, but it’s nice when you have some financial backing. I really do hate filling out all the forms, but I already got burned once by procrastinating on the (way back when I was originally applying to college) so I’ll just suck it up. Wooo!

Holy crap, you guys, I’ve figured it out. I just caught myself seriously considering making a two-hour run to Dallas to see if I could find a closing Toys R Us and pick up some Exoforce kits on the cheap, and I came to a frightening realization. You know the posts Penny Arcade has been running for the last couple of days on those viral marketing plants in forums? Well, Matt is the logical next step! Here’s what I’ve pieced together of the evil plan:
Step 1: Hire a corporate shill to start a website with a significant focus on merchandising and advertisement from previous decades. This will simultaneously inspire materialistic urges in the readers AND frustrate those very same urges by only displaying items which may be procured only with difficulty. Side note: a competent shill might be able to negotiate a system of commissions or straight-up wages from eBay, if he can prove that his readers are utilizing the service at an increased rate.
Step 2: Continue drawing new readers for five years. Main objective during this phase is to foster a sense of community and trust among the readers, or "marks." Side note: Photog: stroke of marketing genius, or statistical fluke?
Step 3: "Land" a job with Nickelodeon, despite the fact that the shill has been on the payroll since day one.
Step 4: Periodically show commercials for items with massive growth potential, ostensibly to show off the proud fruits of the shill’s labors, but actually designed to whip the fanbase (which should be quite sizable at this point) into a slavering, disposable-income burning frenzy.
Step 5: Profit.
Don’t you see? We’ve all been played from the beginning! Matt is Nick! Nick is Matt! SOYLENT GREEN IS FIRST QUARTER ADVERTISING REVENUE PROJECTIONS!
This will be my last post, my friends. I’ve just pissed off some very powerful people. I’ve got to forge deeper into the Bible Belt, find someplace where Nickelodeon cannot reach. The rest of you, get out while you can, before you are induced to buy again.
Good God. There’s someone at the door. It’s too late. Tell…tell Bizarro Poop to take a grammar course. Farewell, sweet XErs. Farewell.

Interesting theory, Jedoc. However, I think you have it all wrong.
Step 1: Steal underpants.
Step 2: ?
Step 3: Profit.
Oh shit, now I’M the one who’s going to be taken out.

Wow, I never knew that Legos could be so bad-ass. I don’t know how the voice-over guy could keep a straight face with how over-the-top it was.
My question though, is why do those two opposing forces want that stupid mountain so much? Can’t they just spread out across the land? Is this supposed to be a big metaphor for the Israeli/Palistinian conflict?

King Peter… I don’t know if it’s the fact that I’m listening to T. Rex right now (alluding to the whole rock star thing) or the massive amounts of alcohol I’ve consumed, but your post had me HOWLING! Ah well, back to my own rock star existence.

SNT!!!!!
SNL!!!! 1/2 hour in, I’m loving it! Kelly Ripa & Alec Baldwin, and no one noticing Steve carrying him in the carpet. The Viagra Clock.
And Maya’s back! And in top form too!
All of the ads and short sketches so far seem to be from a Steve Martin ep: the Teddy Bear Holding a Heart, the Don’t Buy Anything if You Can’t Pay For It. The Digital Short was funny too, with him & Will Forte looking like they were going to kiss. Speaking of which, the Ultra Zoom Theater was hilarious as well. Was the cameras zooming Kenan out of frame and then not zooming at all a part of the sketch or improvised?
and Prince is kicking some ass right now. Lets hope the rest of the hour is as good as the first 1/3rd of this show!

Looking for help with a school project! I need to talk to someone involved with marketing children’s products so I can do a report in class. I just have to ask about a dozen questions and it could easily done by email. If anybody would like to help, drop a line to squee4242livejournal @ yahoo . com (take out the spaces). Thanks in advance!

We have SO MUCH Exo-Force stuff at work I just can’t walk by it without shaking my head in disdain.
No one’s buying it, but the idiots that put out my frieght keep jamming it onto the shelf, making that section bigger each week. -.-;
Matt, I really have no clue what you mean by bookends and whatnot, but the shorts look good, all around

SNL does indeed rule tonight. And they just showed Jimmy Fallon as I was typing.
Maybe, there’s hope.
I just started a myspace. After doing so, I realized everyone I know and knew and probably will know has one. I’m late.

Chestnuts roasted by

I hate MySpace. It’s evil.
only 2 complaints about this bitchin’ SNL now:
1) Weekend Update: good, but too short (maybe this is why it was good?)
2) The Prince Show: Love this recurring sketch, but they missed out in involving the REAL Prince!
Ok, so far, here are the cameos I saw:
-Kelly Ripa
-Alec Baldwin
-Jimmy Fallon
-Brian Williams (2nd Digital Short)
-Conan O’Brien (also 2nd Digital Short)
ok, My memory is too short, I forgot if Fred Armisen met someone famous before he was with Brian Williams?
Almost done! Tonight is Awesome!

Darth Poop: Congratulations! You are on the Internet and aware that grammar does, in fact, exist. As glad as I am to see this, you may have been too quick in your self-correction. The use of "got" is perfectly acceptable in the context you’ve provided, though I understand your wariness regarding "got" and "have" confusion; it’s alarming how frequently the two are used interchangably. Of course, if you intended a more passive meaning, you may disregard this message.
By the way…
Mixing a fictional title borrowed from popular culture and the always charming word "poop" - hilarious!

But we did watch The Blues Brothers tonight…it was awesome, as always.

Nice ads, have you been working on any other programs for the network?
I am looking forward/waiting for the Super Bowl, I hope the Seahawks win. Being a lifelong Bengals fan, I can’t help but wonder what would have happened if Carson Palmer wasn’t brutally injured by the Steelers. (then again who knows if the Bengals would have won!)

I just wanted to say how much I love X-E, because it doesn’t get said often enough. If I had to pick one site on the internet to read for the rest of my life, this would be it. I’d just flip through articles about Ninja Turtles, Christmas, Halloween, and disgusting chili from Wendy’s forever.
Here’s to Madd Matt and all his evil glory. Cheers.

Matt(#2?- I was thinking the same thing yesterday, about how if I could only view one website it would be X-E.

The commercials are always the best part of the Super Bowl (I never really cared much about the football part.) The Super Bowl just started here, so far the commercials are a bit weak but will hopefully improve (the Full Throttle ad with the semi-sized FT can was pretty good, don’t know why they didn’t flatten the Red Bull truck, I thought they would.)
Speaking of football Matt, on occasion you have said you were a "baseball card poser". Did you ever collect football cards too? I was a sports card poser in general, and probably had a zillion football cards as well, even though I didn’t know a halfback from a safety from a nose tackle.

Chestnuts roasted by
Destro @ 02/05/2006 6:11 PM EST
Never was a football card poser, but I did spend a brief period as a hockey card poser, which abruptly ended when my friends called me out on it and I couldn’t name three hockey players.

Chestnuts roasted by
Matt @ 02/05/2006 6:15 PM EST
Matt, something similar happened to me, when some friends who not only watched football but actually played football as well asked me some questions about basic rules of football and I didn’t have a clue. Poser: exposed.
I would have probably gotten into hockey and basketball cards as well, but my local mom and pop convienence store at the time only had football, baseball, and GPK cards. It was an awesome store, a bit like a smaller version of Easy Video. Cards, cheap/weird candy, cheapo toys, great stuff. Shame stores like that are almost nonexistant these days.
Commercial update: The Burger King Whopperette commercial was REALLY bizarre.

JLAJRC, I got banned again b/c of my IP #. I wasn’t home last night and missed SNL, but I’m gonna watch it b4 I go to bed tonight, since Steve Martin hosted. I bought the Best of David Spade and Alec Baldwin today on DVD. My mom said Baldwin was in the 1st sketch. What was Jimmy Fallon doing there? My mom fell asleep and missed him if he was on. My boyfriend and I sing "Barry Gibb Talkshow" alot–I have the real song, Nights on Broadway, on my iPod. LOL.

And I used to collect hockey cards, but I love hockey, so no posing here. I have the Canadian Olympic hockey logo tatooed on my lower back.

I appreciate the praise. I’d actually forgotten about having posted that; when I checked my site meter today it said something ridiculous like 62 hits today alone. I got mighty confused.
An interesting thought occured to me today in reguards to it though. Its 2 feet deep, 3 feet long, and about 2 feet high. I have absolutely no idea what I’m going to do with it when I’m done. I mean like, I don’t know where I’m going to put it. I’m thinking I’ll have to build some sort of cabinet storage rack thing…and if I’m going to do that I might as well do another diorama. I’ve been tossing around the idea of an ewok village.
At any rate, with luck and patience it should be wired with shiney lights (oooo shiney) before the weeks out, so check it out again.
And by the way I don’t think I mentioned this at the time, but Matt, your coverage of the Revenge of the Sith midnight madness at toys r us in times square was the balls!

I’m in the bible belt! It’s too late, they know where we all are. We need Roddy Piper to show up so he can chew gum and kick ass.
Sentai Mountain? Are there five of them, in differnt colors? Then, they combine into MEGA-ULTRA-GIGA-MOUNTAIN!
Which would make a better live action movie, Kingdom Come, or Watchmen?
