Lizzie: Yeah, I thought it was a joke, too. You know, playing off the two posts directly before mine. If I’d have known that my pre-coffee comment would send the blog careening down this dark spicy path, I’d have… well, I’d have done the same thing, but I’d have been chuckling knowingly while I did it.
Nicole: While I applaud your decision to drag defunct British teeny-bop into the conversation, I’d have expected you to go for Pepsi Holiday Spice as your favorite.
Oh, great. Darth Poop’s got a crooked finger now. If he ‘s going to Force-choke somebody, it’ll probably go around the corner and throttle me instead. I never did send off for that "Learn To Be A Jedi In Ten Easy Lessons" book.

Hey Mars–nah, it’s just me. I just have alot to say.

Nicole, you’re obviously getting cynical in your old age too! I’m only 23 (I think we’re the same age, right), and I am so world-weary it’s unbelievable. I have this burning need to pick EVERYTHING that bothers me apart (except for everyone on here). I’m known for it. Really–you should have seen some of my manifestos from college–analysis has always been my best area. As a writer, Nicole, I can agree that things that are hard to read are impossible on the eyes and brain.

Jedoc, I completely forgot Pepsi Holiday Spice. I hang my head in shame. I am not worthy of finding a year-plus old bottle now. *sniff*
Allison, you’re right, I’m completely cynical. But the thing is, I’ve been that way as long as I can remember. And yep, I’m 23 too. I just have this inherent dislike for the majority of the human race, and it only grows over time.
Again, I apologize to Stacy for being the Grammar Nazi, as I am known in certain circles. I of course meant in no way to discourage her from posting. Post to your little heart’s content, dear. I’ll just avert my eyes.

You guys/gals have gone totally insane. I have no clue what’s up in here? Who needs some sense knocked into them?
:Walks around carrying a nerf bat:

Haha, I knew it–it seems cynics always have radar for other cynics. "Grammar Nazi"–I like that. I’m suprised that wasn’t my nickname at one time–I used to tear apart my brother’s rough drafts for college essays b/c I found "discrepancies" in them.
Nicole, did you work in retail at one time? Retail makes one cynical. I worked in a clothing store and a video store at one time, so I know where it comes from.
Chestnuts roasted by Allison @ 01/26/2006 5:41 PM
JLAJRC, we’re turning the X-E blog into a chat room, can’t you tell?
Did you guys here about that pirate movie? It’s rated Stacy R.
Chestnuts roasted by dohopoki @ 01/26/2006 5:50 PM
dohopoki–rrrrrrrrrrrrr!
Kidding, kidding.
Mystie–I just took a look at that Jones Soda for Valentine’s Day–looks decent. We braved it on Christmas Day w/the holiday pack, but I think I may have to try the Valentine’s Day stuff.

Apologies in advance for a long post. I just want to explain my position. Hope no one hates me for it!
Darth Poop
I can understand the point you’re making. I lurk here much more often than I actually post, and so I am aware that you’re pretty much a vet, and I respect you as a poster. Respectfully, though, I must disagree with you. I don’t feel that I outright insulted anyone, as I am certainly capable of it. If that was my intention, my post would have said something more like "Hey, it looks like the 9 year old AOLers found X-E!" My point was that Stacy R.‘s post contained some major irony, and not the delicious variety.
I am fully aware of what net speak is. I grew out of it around 13 or 14, when I realized that it’s really not helping anything if it takes people twice as long to decipher what you’re trying to say simply because you want to save a few keystrokes. You think me inconsiderate for pointing out my lack of patience with those unwilling to even attempt to fit in a little bit with a well-worded and properly typed post, but I find those people to be guilty of a greater inconsideration. Of what are now over 200 posts in this thread, exactly 3 are in net speak. The other 197+ are composed in more-or-less proper English. Analogously, if one were to travel to France and insist on speaking English no matter what, then become outraged when the French expected you to at least attempt their language, which of these parties would you find to be more inconsiderate? I think you can guess my answer.
I’m not out to start a flame war or anything like that. However, saying "liek OMG I luv 2 liek rite n shizzle!!1!!" is a sad, sad ironic statement. It is considered common courtesy to put at least a little bit of effort into adopting local custom when visiting a strange community. That applies in both the real world and the cyber one.
I’m not claiming that I don’t use the occasional acronym, and I love emoticons. These usually serve to enhance communication, though, whereas net speak generally serves to inhibit it, especially among people who choose to communicate clearly.
I’ll climb down off of my soapbox now. I hope you can see where I’m coming from, and realize that I don’t want to make any enemies, especially among you regulars.
oh, and uh… X-E iz liek ttly k3w1.

My favorite spice is Old.
I’d introduce my "new topic" here, but I’m always thinking that Matt’s gonna post a new blog about 3 hours after I post it.
Until then, let the devolution from Blog to Chat Room commence!

That’s right–a girl who at one time owned a Big Boss Man Wrestling Buddy (it was 1991–I was 9–in 3rd grade–it can be excused). I also wanted Macho Man, but I got BBM. You guys must really like me now!! LOL!!!

Oh the drama on Matt’s blog!
But I will say that I included a winky face on my comment to clarify that I was simply joking around.
