I FORGOT TOONCES! maybe my favorite ever

Chestnuts roasted by kb @ 01/31/2006 9:02 PM

Favorite SNL sketches:
Dennis Miller’s Weekend Update

Wayne’s World (1990 on)

Celeb Jeopardy

Long Island Girls–commercial parody w/Alec Baldwin

Iron Chef (that one w/Charlie Sheen)

Dateline (when Rob Lowe played Stone Phillips–"The
Trampoline…harmless plaything or backyard danger?")

Buddy Precisely (wait at the bar…)

Sex Tonight (Kevin Nealon and Jan Hooks play characters hosting a sex-esque Entertainment Tonight–Hooks plays Jessica Hawn)

The Stand-Ups

The Anal Retentive Guy (especially the Chef one–I do impersonations of this–my mom thinks its hysterical)

Land Shark (when I was 16, my dad got me hooked on 70′s reruns by buying me a Saturday Night Live video for 1975, and I LOVED Landshark)

Church Lady (probably b/c my mom hates this character–I’m just a sap over anything Dana Carvey does)

The Crosby Bunch (I honestly haven’t seen this rerun since I was 15–Phil Hartman plays Bing Crosby as the abusive daddy his kids claimed he was–Dana Carvey, Jan Hooks, and Dennis Miller played 3 of his children–Miller was Nathaniel and Hooks was Mary, can’t recall who Carvey was–I heard the kids Miller and Carvey played died (Nathaniel died by suicide, I think, and Carvey’s character I think had cancer)–this sketch was a take-off of the Cosby Show when Malcom Jamal Warner hosted in ’86, and Theo dreamed he was part of another family–great for the fact that Hartman takes Carvey, Miller, and Hooks into another room and whips them w/a belt.

I, for one, love Carol!!!! My boyfriend goes hysterical every time I do a Carol impression, "I’M CAROL!"

Barry Gibb Talk Show (the boyfriend and I sing the song)

Master Thespian

Debbie Downer (my boyfriend loves the Thanksgiving one, with the feline AIDS line–the cat meow)–I really shouldn’t like this, it’s not exactly hysterical, but it’s kind of a guilt pleasure)

Jarrett’s Room–I ALWAYS loved this!

Jingleheimer Junction–don’t tell me everyone forgot this!!! My dad watched it w/me, and we kept cracking up when Horatio Sanz was Umberto Union and tried to get in after the "F." Those censor screens were hysterical!

TV Funhouse–particularly the 25th Anniversary one.

Haim? I don’t know if that’s a priviledge or an insult here.

Chestnuts roasted by JLAJRC @ 01/31/2006 9:16 PM

oooh, I almost forgot:

Dolly’s Story–the one where Dolly Parton tells her "mountain stories," but they turn out to be synopses for popular television shows–the casts’ staged reactions to her stories are hysterical–the conversation they had afterward was really funny. They weren’t reading cue cards, so I wonder if they were free to ad-lib on this one. Aired in early 1989.

Drill Sgt.–Phil Hartman plays a R. Lee Ermey-esque, Full Metal Jacket-type drill sgt. who screams and gives his cadets new nicknames–classic stuff–Kevin Nealon’s character was supposed to laugh during this, but Nealon looked like he was BARELY holding on. Classic to see Carvey flinch when Hartman screams in his face–he kept blinking. Dennis Miller isn’t much of an actor but he managed to stare straight ahead–probably what kept him from laughing.

Nude Beach–the classic controversial sketch that was the predecessor to Canteen Boy (which was good the 1st time). Even more ironically, I have the Best of Tom Hanks, and this was a dress rehersal sketch that was cut–it resurfaced several eps later recasted (Dennis Miller replaced Hanks, Nealon remained in character, Carvey remained as his character, Matthew Broderick played Jon Lovitz’s characer in the recasting)

The 5 Beatles–classic! I just absolutely love this sketch from ’88! Matthew Broderick played John Lennon, Dana Carvey played Paul McCartney (naturally), Dennis Miller played George Harrison, and Jon Lovitz played Ringo Starr. The "5th" Beatle was Phil Hartman as a balding trombone player.

Family Ties flashbacks–from 1988–Jon Lovitz played Nick, and Kevin Nealon’s beard falls off–classic.

Choppin’ Broccoli–Dana Carvey looks like he’s putting his heart and soul into something that’s so, well…rediculous. this is so funny!

The political sketches.

TV Funhouse’s "Spot the Black People at the Knicks Game."

Sinatra Group.

Napster hearings (I was watching this tape recently)

And…my favorite guilty pleasure sketch…

Moleculo…the "Molecular Man!"

I really didn’t mean to add this many–I have lots of faves!

Well Feldman was taken

Who will play Bizaro Darth Poop aka my evil twin in the movie. Should Warwick Davis play both of us?

Chestnuts roasted by Darth Poop @ 01/31/2006 9:20 PM

Invader Norbert–the Jimmy Fallon radio sketches are for Z105 in Saugerties New York (I remember this from the beginning of the sketches)–And we’re BAAAAAAAACK!

Ok, I’ll zip it now.

From the top–

Dear Nicole,
I found Fire, Walk With Me at Family Dollar today for $5, and now I hear it’s at Walmart for $3.88??? I could’ve gotten a coffee at the gas station with that $1.12. And I would definitely recommend watching the show, BUT, as someone said, wait till the whole thing is out on dvd. It gets very confusing and suspenseful and if you cant watch to the end you might go mad. I used to be in love with Kyle MacLachlan–15 years ago before his face sagged ala Sex and the City and that new sucky show. I’d still hit it.

Which leads us to:

Dear Whoever said they didnt like Sprockets,
I loved Sprockets! My favorite was the one with Kyle MacLachlan. It can be seen on Mike Myers’ Best of DVD. It was only my favorite because of my love and devotion to him at the time. But it’s still good.

Dear Allison,
Your new job sounds like soooo much fun. Think of all the weirdness you can bring to that place! I like the Barry Gibb talk show song too, and Debbie Downer makes my boyfriend and I choke with laughter. At least it did the first couple times. Stuff like that gets played out pretty quickly.

My other favorites are the ones where Will Ferrell and Rachel Dratch are in the hot tub calling eachother "lover" and eating weird meats and talking about orgies. Just creepy. In a funny way.

And I think Carol is stupid, but for some reason it still makes me laugh.

And last but not least, is this the same thread that was discussing tabasco? Tobasco Cheez-its (crackers) are like my favorite thing in the world.

Chestnuts roasted by schroeder @ 01/31/2006 9:37 PM

Heck, "We Built This City" could be the friggin’ NAME of the movie. Do you think we’d film in Canada? It seems like every movie is being shot in Canada these days, especially lower-budget ones and horror flicks.

Speaking of Canada, I think I’d be played by Rick Moranis, in a role similar to the ones he did in both Ghostbusters.

Well, MY topic was actually NOT Reocurring SNL Sketches, but rather, for ones that ran one-time. Allison basically took up the whole topic on that.

My favorite one-time sketches:

-Jimgleheimer Junction (each censor card depicting a train wreck getting progressively worse)
-the Crystal Gravy ad (the MOST Disturbing ad EVER)
-Moleculo: THE MOLECULAR MAAAAN!
-The Sinatra Group
-James Brown In The Hot Tub
-Canteen Boy Goes Camping (Canteen Boy makes an appearance in a later episode with Jason Alexander hosting)
-the showdown of Partridge Family & the Brady Bunch
-Behind The Music: Fat Albert (Tracy Morgan as Fat Albert and Tim Meadows as Mushmouth)
-Behind The Music: Blue Oyster Cult (the famous Cowbell Sketch)
-the Drunken Asses (the ad where a bunch of drunk singers sing your favorite bar songs, and because they’re all tanked, none of them are able to sing the complete song)
-the 1st Debate of Al Gore & George W (strategery)
-Hi-C and Turkey (a sketch about an insurance broker played by Danny Aiello not leaving a house because he wanted Hi-C & Turkey)
-Colonel Angus
-the LI Girls ad as well, because it relates to me SO much, being from LI and all. And yes, they do talk like that.
-The Chippendales Audition with Chris Farley & Patrick Swayze

-Wake Up & Smile (where a talk show celebrates its 20th anniversary show when the teleprompter breaks. Everyone in that sketch is Just. Freaking. Brilliant.)

Possibly my favorite Dana Carvey sketch can be summed up in 3 words: Massive Headwound Harry.

and one of my all-time favorites: the sketch where all of the Recurring SNL Characters in the early 90s (save for Tim Meadows) did a We Are The World-esque song about "Fire Bad!" (it was titled by Phil Hartman’s Frankenstein). It had just about every major reocurring character: Cajun Man, the Superfans, Pat, David Spade in Hollywood Minute mode, Frankenstein, Wayne Cambell, Matt Foley, Queen Shaniqua, Nat X, Richmeister, Hanz & Franz and the rest of the casts’ characters except for Tim Meadows, who didn’t have one at the time

Forgot some more favorite reocurring characters:

-Matt Foley, motivational speaker
-Astronaut Jones, if not for his X-E-like cheesey theme song
-Master Thespian
-The Herlihy boy
-The Ladies Man
-Debbie Downer (the ones this season were actually funny)
-Church Lady
-Dog Show (Mr. Bjangles is really a girl! Mr. Bojangles is really a girl!)

Bizaro Darth Poop should be played by Verne Troyer. He can drive his scooter over to the corner dork is in and pee in it.

SNL wasn’t such a huge deal in my life until the Celebrity Jeopardy sketches…those clips circulated around the dorm like wildfire in University. (Our dorm was networked, so we could all access each other’s computers…God, I wish I had a good computer at the time so I could have stocked up!High speed and free files! Damn my crappy piece of shit. It’s in the trash now.)

Chestnuts roasted by Muppet Baby @ 01/31/2006 10:16 PM

Favorites:
Any Will Ferrell, Jeopardy, Terrance Maddox (the homeless nude sketch model), the "I am going to punch you in the face" dad, the one were he learns to go down on himself in yoga class…Wow, I really miss Will Ferrell. Oh, and Jack Handy’s Deep Thoughts, and any commercail spoof.

Least Favorites:
the musical guests, takes like 30 minutes from the show with commercials.

All of the sudden the A-team van flips over throwing the bleeding Matt from the driver’s seat, Fox clutchs the steel brief case, they lie motionless in the street as the van explodes and three large transformers hover over them……….

Chestnuts roasted by Fox @ 01/31/2006 11:14 PM

I was hoping for either Scott Baio or Willie Ames. But if I have to have Haim I’ll take him.

Still can’t stand Sprockets. I prefer either Simon, who drew in the bathtub, or his character where he got strong and hyper after eating chocolate.

Fav one-time sketches:
Cast and Aersosmith explaining Clintongate to the audience via singover.

Steve Martin singing with the entire cast " After the show, I’ll drink till I spew. It’s my promise to you the viewer.

Steve Martin dancing with Gildna Radner.

Crystal Clear Gravy.
Crazy Fun Ball
Colon Blow
Rob Lowe doing a Shaggy impression.
5-timers Club
Vincent Price 1958 Thanksgiving Special
Phil Hartman/Jan Hooks singing a sweet song in one of those sweet mini-movies they used to do.
Chronicles of Narnia Rap
The Home Alone parody in the opening.
The Planet of the Apes opening with Charleston Heston.
Canteen Boy
Clucking Chicken Restaurant commercial
John Belushi as the Hulk
Richard Pryor/Chevy Chase sketch
The Nudist Beach sketch described above.
Dan Aakryod as Julia Child
The Sharing Chapstick sketch

Others too numerous to mention.

Allison, hi! I don’t know where I’ve been, but I’m in the right here and now…now. Right now.

kb howdy!! I just want to tell you that I love Martha Plimpton…so hot! Lots of people hatin’ on her in her imdb thread…not cool!

kingklash I laughed out loud when you said Zaphod would play me, but then
By the way, I mean the Mark Wing-Davies Zaphod from the TV Show. was the icing on the cake…the only Zaphod that I would approve of playing me!! :)

"They Live" with Rowdy Roddy Piper is on Sci-Fi right now!! Yay!

See you all in the next thread!

I meant to say "pretty trippy", not just "pretty". I dunno what human would find this pretty, although there certainly are worse sounds in the world. Fingernails scraping over rusty metal, for one. (Worse than nails over a chalkboard in my opinion.) Pass the hookah my way, please.

Darth Galvatron, I didn’t say I was looking forward to the Dungeon Siege movie…just that I’m intrigued. I’d never pay to see one of Boll’s movies, though. On the other hand, I tend to love crappy movies, so who knows.

schroeder (et. al.): Thanks for the Twin Peaks DVD tips. I’ll wait a bit and keep an eye out before I start watching. Oh, and I have this theory that Kyle MacLachlan always plays Coop. Case in point: The Hidden. If you haven’t seen this little piece of cinema holy-crap-what-in-the-fuck, you must go rent it. So there’s Kyle, who’s Coop all over again, and an alien slug who likes sex, guns, blowing shit up, rock n’ roll and fast cars, some weird laser thing, oh, and a stripper who sucks at stripping. Yes. All this can be yours. At least there’s music by Concrete Blonde. And there was a sequel, which I have yet to see/scar myself with. And I don’t watch Sex and the City, but the one commercial I saw with Kyle, he had the Coop suit on, just with a pink shirt and tie. I don’t know whether he’s typecast or he’s just really Coop. Also, my FWWM DVD may have been cheaper because the plastic wrapper was ripped. Because you know, that totally ruins the DVD experience. *eyeroll*

Mystie: I actually drank like half a bottle of blue food coloring (colouring if you’re British!) to see if it would turn my colon sausage blue. It didn’t. It turned green. ???

Darth Poop: To be honest, I barely remeber that episode. I though Stu was Tarzan and Drew was King Kong. That could have been another episode though.

I do remeber the little kiddies seeing a bowl of spaghetti and saying, "Worms!" In another episode, however, they saw worms and called it, "chocolate spaghetti." Oh the incontinuity.

Kind of like when Homey the clown tried to balloons instead of condoms and condoms instead of balloons.

Yeah, I’m so cool.
