I like watching BBC America comedies, but I never could get into the UK Office.

My favs:
Coupling- FAR superior to the quickly canceled US version.

My Hero- Just think of the Superman comics/shows as a comedy and you got it.

Kumar at 42- A combination talk show/comedy show hosted by Punjab immigrants. HILARIOUS!

My first real job was at Carvel.

Biggest job hazard there was frostbite….

Most of my jobs have dealt with keeping consumers happy – convenience store clerk, 3 different call centers(hardware support, software support, and credit card cust. service), and now I handle payroll for the 100 or so employees at the credit card call center, so I have to keep them happy with their time while still adhering to policy.

What’s really jaded me, though, is what seems to be most peoples’ belief that the relative anonymity granted by operating a motor vehicle is license to abandon courteous behaviour. I can’t stand jerks on the road.

Try dealing with tourists. Nothing lets me practice my Chuck Jones’ "You Gotta Be Kidding Me" look like some misguided vacationer asking "Where can I find some real Indians? With the feathers and loin cloths and war paint and all that?" I love Humanity, I just wish it didn’t have to involve so many people.

This has to be the longest discussion to ever take place spurred simply by the sentence "So I cleaned out the freezer today."

So I finally tried Black Cherry Vanilla Coke earlier today. I thought it tasted….iffy. That’s the word I have to describe it.

First I tasted the vanilla coke for a about 10 seconds before the barrage of Black Cherry attacked me. I really hate regular Cherry, but Black Cherry seems more bearable.

All in all, Coke: PLEASE TAKE THE BLACK CHERRY OUT OF THE GODDAMN VANILLA!!! IF IT AINT BROKE, DON’T FIX IT!!!!! :(

Haha, my first job was working in the kitchen at a retirement home. This one time we ran out of prune juice for a week! Oh my god were those old people pissed!

I also worked at the Customer Service Desk at Wal-Mart for a long time. A lot of getting screamed at by Rednecks. Weirdest return excuse I ever heard, "Well, I was wondering what’s been making my crotch itch lately!" Apparently she didn’t realize you’re supposed to take your yucky bath mats OUT of the tub if you’re taking a bath. Ewe.

As far as Pom Poko, I’ve been meaning to see that for the past 10 years! My bff in high school had a copy, and I never got around to watching it. I have the soundtrack, though. Bought it from the TokyoPop Shop clearance a while back. Way before they were doing manga.

norbert, I am right there with you. I love love love diet vanilla coke and that has been my saving grace in trying to loose weight. I caught wind of the change before it happened and luckily my local grocery store Giant Eagle had a sale for 1.97 a 12 pack. No limit! Needless to say I bought the store out and now have a mini mountain of diet vanilla coke in the garage. I think I have about 20 packs. Ahhh it feels great to be queen!

Remember, Pom Poko is the film that inspired the term "Baffling Number Of Raccoon Scrotums." Have you hugged your Tanuki today?

Mystie, Nicole, and kingklash–great stories. Prune juice, irate customers, and tourists looking for "real" Indians is classic stuff. Bath mats?! Oh my god!!! Obviously they couldn’t return the bath mats…please say they couldn’t, Mystie…for the love of God! Please SAY they couldn’t return the bath mats!!!!

I was blessed with a job interview today that turned into a quickie hiring! I went to Boscov’s this morning after being called in regard to a resume I submitted regarding a job posting in the paper. It is a Employee Customer Relations position, and it is just me, attempting to provide incentives for employees to push credits, and to take different approaches for customers to open credits if any approaches fail. It is also to make the job fun for the employees. I have little experience in this type of work (I have 2 1/2 years experience in retail, but that’s about it…), and I was still hired. Hey, I’m a blank slate–they can teach me what they want!

And, Mystie, baths don’t exactly make you clean. Maybe that’s why her crotch was itching…ewwwwww!

Ahhh, Tanuki. God do I miss those classic Super Mario days.

I have DDR Mario Mix (after the boyfriend nabbed it on Ebay). There is this great version of the Super Mario Bros. underwater song–it has this one part that sounds like elevator music, and Mario does the "Running Man" during it.

Oh yeah, we returned the bath mat. My Wal-Mart took EVERYTHING back. Opened DVDs, used PS2s, vaginal cream, eaten food, air conditioners someone used all summer, used Halloween costumes. One time we had a customer take a vacuum cleaner right off the shelf, bring it up to customer service and ask for their money back on it. Management approved the return because no one actually saw him take it up, but the alarm tag hadn’t been deactivated on it. I was pretty much told by them to give the customers whatever the hell they want, regardless of if they deserve it or not.

as I scan the talky, I keep thinking people are referring to me when they say Pom Poko.

I can’t imagine what inventory must have been like.

Chestnuts roasted by Allison @ 01/27/2006 6:34 PM

Last year I was there it was nearly $1.5 million in shrink. Then they had another inventory a few months later, the store manager padded it, they found out, and she was demoted to assistant.

Terrible store. Once the overnight assistant manager was caught on tape screwing one of the girls from grocery in the back office. Doubled her hours on payroll, too. They fired him, he threatened to sue for there being no sign about the camera, and they gave him his job back and transferred him to another store. I could go on for hours about bad Wal-Mart stories. @_@

Chestnuts roasted by Mystie @ 01/27/2006 6:41 PM

You can get like 5 pounds of cheese for a dollar though. Karma… yep.

Chestnuts roasted by dohopoki @ 01/27/2006 6:58 PM

http://www.customerssuck.com is really the best place for retail horror stories. I do cs for the people responsible for getting everyone’s tax forms in the mail so it’s been quite the month. I’d regale you with tales but I kinda come here to escape all of that. Congrats to Allison on the job though!
Hi me! Nice to see you back…now if ME would just turn up we’d really have a party.
Muppet Baby, let go of your fears! They compliment each other beautifully (UK and US).

At my local Wal-Mart I can get 1 pound of pastrami for $3. Then all I need is rye bread, swiss cheese, sauerkraut, and mustard, and I can make one badass reuben sandwich.

… this might get expensive.

Chestnuts roasted by ZiZak @ 01/27/2006 7:44 PM

Mystie, the way you tell a story, I’m not surprised you have many more.

squee4242–I’ll check out that site. Thanks!

Has anyone noticed that we are just over a tenth of the way toward surpassing the Nathan Bitner/Fearless Photog blog incident? Let’s do it guys… only 2000 replies and some change to go!

Chestnuts roasted by Bludge @ 01/27/2006 9:30 PM

I did notice that, Bludge.

Chestnuts roasted by dohopoki @ 01/27/2006 10:15 PM

I gotta figure Matt will update before we hit 2k. Although I do think It’s cool to have so many posts on such a random thread.

Chestnuts roasted by Rhino @ 01/27/2006 11:00 PM

Besides, we’re real close to the SNT.

Chestnuts roasted by Rhino @ 01/27/2006 11:01 PM

You said it, Rhino.

This is probably up there as one of the most commented blogs ever on X-E, and we’re not even 1/10 of the lenght of the Photog Blog!

*as He’s typing this, notices Bludge‘s post*

Darn you!

Anyways, new Monk on earlier, and I just thought it kicked ass. Funny as hell as well as the usual crime drama, as well as the emotional drama with Stottlemeyer.
