Whoa first post, I’ve been reading this site for at least three years.  Guess I haven’t been reading it long enough because I have no idea what SNT means.

Saturday Night Thread baby! I finished watching my He-Man dvd set and I was wondering if Zodac ever does anything other than observe. I think I remember Matt complaining about Zodac once in an article.

Anyone ever seen the peanut butter solution? That movie rules.

Ghosted by Mike @ 01/14/2006 6:38 PM EST

Whoo! Number five.

Mike: I’ve seen The Peanut Butter Solution, but not since I was in grade school.  Isn’t it about a kid whose hair is used to make paint brushes or something like that?  I don’t remember much besides that.

Ghosted by Astro Zombie @ 01/14/2006 6:51 PM EST

The kid loses his hair when he gets scared, then two ghosts give him a recipe to make his hair grow back, but he puts in too much peanut butter and his hair grows wild. Then the evil art teacher abducts him and useds his hair to make paint brushes. The best part of the movie is the little asian kid putting the solution on his crotch and them showing hair growing out the bottom of his pants. That or the killer celine dion soundtrack.

Ghosted by Mike @ 01/14/2006 6:53 PM EST

Yeah, I remember "The Peanut Butter Solution," too, though I also haven’t seen it since grade school and don’t remember much. It was one of those weird, random sort-of cult things that used to show up from time to time on cable and the local independant channels when I was a kid.

Went to see Oma today.  Always nice to see Oma.
Oh, and my wife bought shoes today.  The amazing part is 4 fold: 1. She found them in lest then 10 minutes.  2. She didn’t have any complaints about them.  3. I liked them.  4. They were only about $25.
Over all a good day, and the shoe store had a comfy inflateable couch infront of their kiddy TV.  Watched some kind of Euro-crack cartoon about a bird that’s smart enough to build a time machine, but couldn’t find a second tree close enough to tie up his hamock, which leads to another wacky, educational adventure with his anoying, femal tortise neighbor with a weird facial pendant.  Oh well, at least my German is getting better.

I could never get through PB Solution. The way it was shot always made me feel kind of funny. The same can be said for Garbage Pail Kids.

Are y’all sad that Christmas is over? Seems like it really flew by this year. I’m ultra pumped for Halloween, though. :D

I am so freaking glad I didn’t get screwed into being a Battle Cat.

Ghosted by dohopoki @ 01/14/2006 8:50 PM EST

Eddie, I am sad Christmas is over. I’ve been randomly walking into the living room and laying down, spread out where my once beautiful tree was lit. The space is so barren without it.

Plus it’s now a week til my birthday. *grump* Thus far my plans are to hide in bed all day.

Ghosted by Mystie @ 01/14/2006 9:48 PM EST

Though Christmas is over, here is a holiday "movie" I made for a contest on http://www.ggl.com inspired by the Advent Calendar.

http://media.putfile.com/Playmobil-Christmas

My submission got screwed up and I can’t get a response from the folks at that site, so I wonder if everyone could tell me what they think.

Ghosted by kentdog @ 01/14/2006 9:55 PM EST

My now deceased step Grandfather’s brother, I don’t know what that makes me, owns a Christmas tree farm. He lives on the farm with his wife, some llamas, two dogs, and a mule. It’s an enchanted place that smells like pooh.

kentdog- It made me laugh. A little blurry though but we really need to think of the children anyway. I don’t know what that last sentence is supposed to mean.

Ghosted by Darth Poop @ 01/14/2006 10:09 PM EST

Darth Poop It smells like Pooh? Is this magical Christmas tree farm deep in the Hundred Acre Woods?

Ghosted by Mystie @ 01/14/2006 10:21 PM EST

Mystie- I’m tired and I don’t know how to respond so I’m going to bed. As we say here in Michigan, may the great one slap you silly.

god damn it, I watch the Jetsons like once a month and it always ends up being the same episode, the one where they get Rosie.

Dude!  I go to a local anime convention and what do I see?  A Mario Plushy from Japan.  My heart did a power jump, my fingers shot fireballs, and my clothes were flashing the minute I picked up the thing.  I took it up to the dude selling it.  And guess what?  The fucker wanted 25 bucks for the damned thing!  Sweet Mother of Fucker Jesus Holy and Shit!  There were people selling other plushies of the same size for 10-15 bucks!  I love Mario and all, but I could NOT justify 25 for a plushy of him.  I mean, it’s not like the thing actually did give me all of Mario’s powers  Now 25 bucks for a copy of one of those rare NES adult games on the other hand…

Ghosted by Nate @ 01/14/2006 11:18 PM EST

Dear God, just last week I was thinking about that movie, "the Peanut Butter solution".  I couldn’t remember the name of it yet I remembered how odd it was. Thanks for the flashback Mike, I’m off to amazon for the search.

Ghosted by bloodybrilliantme @ 01/14/2006 11:25 PM EST

Was the peanut butter solution a full length movie…

In my memory for some reason I thought the peanut butter solution was an episode of "Are You Afraid of the Dark?"

it was a long time ago afterall

SNIKT!

Ghosted by devi @ 01/14/2006 11:32 PM EST

Yeah it was a full movie. Are you Afraid of the Dark rocked, though. I bought every episode on ebay but still havent finished em- there’s like 90,000. My eyes also ran across Eerie Indiana: The Complete Series at Best Buy a couple of weeks ago. It was only 23.99 which is really fair. The episodes thus far have been really sweet.

Ghosted by Eddie Lightning Frog @ 01/15/2006 1:00 AM EST

I should probably mention that I remember the Peanut Butter Solution.  I really loved the Asian kid (I had lotsa Asian friends myself, so I could relate).  Anyway, it was my Mom’s decision to rent it for us.  She regretted it.

Anyway, I’m off to the pub.

Referencing the Peanut Butter Solution is pure SNT genius.

Man.  I haven’t played Diablo II in years.  Almost makes me want to find the disc and load up a new Paladin.  Nothing relieves stress like hitting someone several times a second with a sword which crackling with lightning.

Besides Burnout, of course.

I spent all last night watching an entire disk of Lost…man, that was awesome.

About the Chronicles of Narnia - it was written to *be* a blatant religious allegory, but the director wasn’t a religious guy, so I doubt he was thinking about that when he made it.  Then again, I’m a Christian so it doesn’t really bother me that much.  What bothered me was that horrible centaur, his acting was atrocious.

Ghosted by Jessica Marie @ 01/15/2006 8:44 AM EST

Jessica Marie:  I know Lewis wrote it as a blatant allegory.  My Jesus-freak sister has books dedicated to the guy.  As far as being a piece of literature, though…bleh.

Ghosted by mtrox @ 01/15/2006 10:17 AM EST

The one Satuday night I go out.  I remember the Peanut butter movie.  It always freaked me out though.  I was into Purple People Eater at that same time I think.  Doogie Howser ruled.
I’m writing the following now cause I don’t think it will ever apply to a topical XE thread:
I am so stoked for American Idol this week.  I am such a closet fan, and not just about the funny sucky people at the beginning of the season.  I have not voted ever, but mabye I should.  I don’t have to face any of you all so I can say it freely here.  OK, that’s all.

I’ve never even HEARD of The Peanut Butter Solution. :/

Ghosted by Ryane @ 01/15/2006 11:16 AM EST

To me, The Peanut Butter Solution sounds like something from the seventies. Perhaps a music group consisting of 5 or 6 black guys with high voices and afros who sing various love songs. Hey this could work. Millions I tells ya, millions.

Ghosted by Darth Poop @ 01/15/2006 11:45 AM EST

I didn’t see Peanut Butter Solution, but I did finally see Chronicles of Narnia.  Effects and direction were up to snuff, but I had the same problems with the film as I did with the book.  The religious allusions/allegory is so blatant that it hits the reader/viewer over the head.  I prefer my stuff to be more vague.  I didn’t want to see a film version of the Bible with talking animals.

Ghosted by mtrox @ 01/15/2006 12:42 PM EST

Actually, kb, I recall Matt once mentioning being an AI watcher. I’ve never been able to get into it myself but I do wait for every new episode of Project Runway like it’s my next fix so I can understand the appeal.
Narnia: I didn’t notice as a kid, but if I made it all the way to The Last Battle I’m sure I would have picked up on it. Now my enjoyment comes from the Christian slant cause I’m a sucker for allegory and religious imagery (Carnivale, why hast though forsaken me?). Currently reading a Lewis memoir about his conversion from an athiest…it’s really weird and dated but definitely interesting. The Narnia movie was terrible though. I thought the kids playing Lucy and especially Edmund did admirably, but the movie just had no heart at all. I’m the type to tear up at the drop of a hat (definitely during Kong *sniff*) and Narnia left me totally cold. Tilda Swinton was perfect perfect perfect and the CGI on Aslan looked pretty nice, but even the FX didn’t impress me that much.
(Jessica Marie, welcome to the Lost fanatic fold. If you’re not caught up with season 2 yet be vewy careful out there in spoiler riddled intenet land).

Ghosted by squee4242 @ 01/15/2006 12:58 PM EST

I remember watching the Peanut Butter Solution on tv.  Very weird, I also remember watching another movie like that, but it was about the kids getting these "grandma & grandpa" robots and then they kids are old and the robots are the same age as the "kids".  I don’t remember much else.  Pretty weird?

Anybody remember a show called "Brain Games"?  It used to come on in between shows on HBO back in the 80s.  My grandmom has a tape of it that my sis and I would watch when we were over.

Another thing does anybody remember the HBO theme song they used to play before the 8:00 movie?

Brain Games is now *sob* over…

I think I found the name of the movie, I remembered it had Maureen Stapleton in it, its called the Electric Grandmother.  Has anybody seen it?

And thank you Darth Poop, I sure don’t feel my age!  Only 2 years to go till *sob* 30!!!

Electric Grandmother 2, electric Boogaloo. We could make millions Jackie.

Ghosted by Darth Poop @ 01/15/2006 1:23 PM EST

Electric Grandmother sounds like a name of a shooter to me.

When you first described it, I was reminded of this other weird movie that my cousin used to rent when she babysat my sister and I. There was like this genius kid who made a robot and his dad’s ghost was inside the robot? Or maybe the dad made the robot. And then the dad-ghost-robot tucks in the kids at night and IT FREAKED ME OUT.

Happy Birthday!!

Brain Games is now *sob* over…

I remember Brain Games, albeit vaguely. I DO remember that closing line, though.

And did anyone else watch SNL last night? I thought…meh. Even the band wasn’t good. And they were on such a good streak too.

The only highlights I have of last night were the opening cartoon (I never realized if Robert Smigel still really does his cartoons now. He should really go back to making Ambiguously Gay Duo toons again, even if Colbert & Carrell have "busy" schedules. I was shocked when there wasn’t a new AGD toon when Steve Carrell hosted, talk about a wasted oppurtunity there.)

Ghosted by Invader Norbert @ 01/15/2006 2:55 PM EST

Mtrox - I guess it depends on what you call ‘literature.’

squee - I know, I made the spoiler mistake when I mentioned to a friend the other day that I was watching Firefly.  He didn’t know I hadn’t seen Serenity yet.  Spoilers, ah well.  I think I have 3 discs of Lost to get through yet, but after watching the one where Sawyer and Kate go swimming in that pool…well, it was almost enough to make me never watch it again.

Ghosted by Jessica Marie @ 01/15/2006 3:00 PM EST

Wow…Brain Games and The Electric Grandmother…

Haven’t thought about either of those for a very very long time…but now I have an irresistible urge to find them and watch them again…

Electric Grandmother always made me sad at the end though…but then again, so did Brain Games when it was *sob* over…

Ghosted by Chuckles the Robo Turkey @ 01/15/2006 3:14 PM EST

I should borrow that tape from my grandmom and tape the Brain Games off of it.

Ghosted by Jackie @ 01/15/2006 4:09 PM EST

Heads up: lots of shark goodness playing on Discovery Channel today. Even you east coasters can catch a few hours yet.
Norbert, I think it takes a lot longer to prep an AGD toon than they take to rehearse an episode of SNL, but now that Carrell is part of the NBC family I’d imagine they can call in a favor and have him record some voiceovers. (Who saw this week’s Office? "I burned my foot!" is taking over for "Yankee swap!" as the catchphrase getting rocked at my cube farm).

Ghosted by squee4242 @ 01/15/2006 4:14 PM EST

Jackie:  I do remember the HBO 8:00 movie theme.  It was the coolest thing.  I also remember the HBO Comedy Hour theme.  They need to bring those back.

Not to long ago, I across a website that had those network themes (that HBO theme, that CBS "Special" theme, etc.)  I don’t know the address anymore since I went through them.

BrainGames ROCKED.  I definately remember old Egghead and those games were fun.  I also loved Encylopedia and those Jim Fyfe specials.

SNL sucked last night.  Scarlet Johanson is a good actress, but she was very wooden last night.  Most hosts at least attempt to act like they aren’t reading the cue cards.

The two best things last night (the Duluth song, and Andy Samberg’s quick impression of the Swedish Chef) everything else sucked.

I do remember the HBO version of the Electric Grandmother.  Haven’t seen it in years.  However, the Twilight Zone also did a version that gets played on Sci-Fi once in awhile.

Hey everyone!  I’m back–my IP erronously wound up on a ban list, and Matt wrote me to let me know the problem was fixed!!!  So hence, I hath returned!

So, what’s up?  I went for a job interview last Monday in Rittenhouse Square/Center City/Philadelphia at an ad agency (my 3rd interview).  This one is really promising!!  I’ll keep everyone posted!!!!

What else?  Today was my graduation party–we had a nice big bunch here–my boyfriend, my twin brother’s girlfriend (who gave me a really nice gift), my mom’s aunt and uncle, my mom’s brother and sister-in-law (my uncle/godfather and aunt), my best friend, her husband, and their nearly 2-year old son, my parent’s friends, their two kids, and two of their extended family members, and my cousin/godmother, her husband, and their son.  Nice packed house.  It was a nice day.

Happy Birthday, Jackie–my boyfriend will be 28 in August, so don’t feel so bad.

SNL completely sucked last night, except for the cartoons and "You gotta buy a chandelier!"

The boyfriend and I watched "Wayne’s World" last night–jeez that is a classic movie!  Or at least, classic in the sense that it was so popular among my age group, and we had no idea it came from SNL.  I was 9 at the time I saw it, and I used to quote the apartment scene constantly.  I remember saying "ribbed for her pleasure–ewww!" and having NO IDEA what I was saying!!  Found out 2-3 years later–I think it was after seeing a condom commercial on MTV.

When SNL sucks, I pull out the "classic" collection (I have a great collection of cheap, out of print SNL annuals I used to buy at Suncoast in the late 90s).

So, I’m back, and you can guarantee I’ll be here alot now!  At least till I get work.  But, you’ll still see me on here. :)

Does anyone remember the movie where the soldier finds a home filled with spirits. He uses this sack and says, "Wickity wack, into my sack" and captures the spirits in the sack. Then he captures death in the sack and then no one ever died. It used to come on PBS all the time. Its actually kind of freaky. He finally lets death out of the sack and all these people fall over dead.

Those were great too, as well as the Chandelier ad. The Duluth theme taking up the whole show gave me good vibes of the James Brown in The Hot Tub sketch, where all Eddie Murphy did was sing about going into the hot tub, and that was it. I was gonna post more, but I pressed the "post" button too quick and didn’t want to double-post.

The Pat Robertson cartoon was funny (and is this the first episode that had a cartoon as the opening sketch?), but the Darwin one…not so much. Even though before, during, and after the cartoon it’s on a Christian Network, I found the previews for the other cartoons much funnier (like the Gay Embryo). The Hanna-Barberra parody worked when they poked on Michel Jackson, because his life is basically a HB Cartoon to begin with.

Well, Here’s hoping to next week’s SNL is better…The Strokes are the music guest.

Three nerdy updates for the day:
1) Watched WarGames this weekend for the first time in many years.  It stars Matthew Broderick and the girl from Short Circuit.  It’s one of those movies that makes me really nostalgic for the 80’s (and thus reminded me of X-E).
2) While watching Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, I noticed that one of Kevin’s brothers is "older Pete" from The Adventures of Pete and Pete.
3) While watching a little bit of Home Alone 3, I noticed that Alex’s (the "new" Kevin) sister is played by Scarlett Johanson.  (And no, I have no idea why I thought it was worth my time to watch two Home Alone movies this weekend….)

END OF TRANSMISSION

Yes, Invader Norbert, I believe that this is the 1st time an animated sketch was the cold opening.  Woo-hoo!  I hope next week’s SNL is better–like I said, when it sucks, I wind up pulling out the classics, which are the jewels of my collection. I watched "The Best of Robin Williams" yesterday.  The videos I purchase were dirt cheap ($4.99) videos which are in poor quality but are extremely good.  NBC put this company out of commission in making SNL videos, and they made their own extremely-overpriced collection.  Lions Gate came through in a big way though, with their DVDs coming in @ $9.99-$14.99 (Best Buy prices).  But, they lost their lisence to put them out, so go out and grab them while you can–NBC Universal will be putting them out soon, and I heard something along the lines of $19.99 (I hope Best Buy will be cheaper).

Also, I was watching In Living Color on Friday night, and they showed that crazy "Home Alone" parody where Michael Jackson shows up at Macauly Culkin’s house.  "Come on, Macauly, we can play with my monkey, or better yet, we can blow bubbles."  "Come on Macauly, you can play with the Elephant Man’s bones, we can sleep in my oxygen chamber–I wanna see you Moonwalk."

And for anyone that’s interested–I got "Dance Dance Revolution Mario Mix"!!  My boyfriend was on Ebay, and found it for $50, brand-new (it was sealed up and everything!).  so, he bought it (it was a buy it now item).  He was gonna save it for Valentine’s Day but knew I’d be so excited to have it, so he made it a just-because present (don’t worry, he doesn’t shortchange on all the important gift-giving days).  It’s alot of fun–I’m enjoying it so far, and getting a GREAT workout on some classic Mario songs.  They even have this mini-game where you run (by simultaneously stepping on the left and right arrows) to run down a path, and jump on the up arrow to pull the flag on the flagpole.  I got 5000 points on Friday night (I hit the top of the pole–yea!).  they even play that cute victory song when you finish!  And, you ALWAYS get fireworks (remember how you had to do certain things, like finish on a certain time or get a certain amount of points or coins to get those–I was always that kid who could only muster 1–count it–1 lousy firework!).

Ghosted by Allison @ 01/15/2006 11:06 PM EST

Yes, this is the first time SNL opened with an animated cartoon.  Although I pretty sure Mr. Bill opened the show a couple of times in the early 80s.  Also, I think one time in the first season, they had some Muppet monsters as regulars and they opened it up also.

I love watching random movies and discovering future stars in it.  Hilary Swank is the Next Karate Kid.  Vince Vaughn and Richard Schiff were in Jurassic Park 3.  Sean Astin is in War of the Roses.  The Supporting Actress in According to Jim was the daughter in the two Father of the Bride remakes.

Ghosted by JLAJRC @ 01/15/2006 11:25 PM EST

JLAJRC:

Yeah, it took me a long time to look at Sean Astin as Sam and not "Sean Astin," that guy from "Encino Man"

Ghosted by Cameron T. @ 01/16/2006 2:36 AM EST

Cameron T:

I’m about to have just the opposite problem:  Astin is supposed to be on the new season of 24, and I’m going to have a hard time restraining myself from screaming "HOBBIT" at the screen every time I see him.

Did anybody see the Adam Sandler movie, Fifty First Dates?  It’s relatively worthless, save for Astin’s performance.

Ghosted by mtrox @ 01/16/2006 9:07 AM EST

Doesn’t anyone think of The Goonies or Rudy when they see Sean Astin?  That’s my problem.

Ghosted by Jessica Marie @ 01/16/2006 9:28 AM EST

Sean Astin at his finest:

Sam: What we need is a few good taters.
Gollum: What’s taters, precious? What’s taters, eh?
Sam: Po-tay-toes. Boil ‘em, mash ‘em, stick ‘em in a stew. Lovely big golden chips with a nice piece of fried fish.  Even you couldn’t say no to that.
Gollum: Oh yes we could. Spoilin’ nice fish. Give it to us raw and wrigglin’. You keep nasty chips.
Sam: You’re hopeless.

How about Dom in this week’s Lost, begging for a break from hiking? I know I wasn’t the only one thinking about second breakfasts.

squee:  I feel you.  I don’t know how I make it through Lost without thinking of Old Toby and the pipeweed more often.

Ack, Gollum freaks me out. I wasn’t nearly as scared of him when I read The Hobbit (haven’t had the stomach/time to read the actual LOTR trilogy yet) as I was when I saw the second movie. I’m back with another random posting I really have to try to force myself to remember to do this regularly but my stupid videogame addicition always  makes me forget my computer for days at a time until I get stuck and need a faq >_< .

Anyways, Gozer did you happen to also notice that the mom in Home Alone 3 was none other than chain smoking Marla from Gremlins 2??  *sigh* Right now I’m bored out of my mind the only thing I could find worth watching on TV was the anime flick "A Wind Called Amnesia" on AZNTV.  It was a pretty interesting movie based on a novel by Hideyuki Kickuchi who also wrote vampire hunter D, Wicked City, and Demon City Shinjuku.  For those who haven’t heard of it the basic plot is that one day the memories of the human race are wiped completely clean to the point that no one even remembers how to speak. It follows a young man who at the beginning is in the same boat as everyone else till he meets a boy who was immune to the wind because his brain was replaced with a computer.  The Boy gives him a crash course in language and survival he also gives him the name Wataru ("traveler" in japanese) and true to the name tells him he must travel the US for reason I couldn’t quite pick up on.

It’s not a terribly original concept but even dubbed in english it was compelling enough that I watched it start to finish without flipping the channel. I have to say its one of the better anime movies I’ve seen on the channel.  Most of the anime movies I’ve seen on AZN since they did their format change from being "The International Channel" are just really dated 80’s stuff only made worse by bad dubbing.

I participated in a Chuck thread on Fark last week, which was a lot of fun.  It seems that Norris-san was made aware of the various lists floatin’ about the ‘Net, and finds them amusing.  As soon as Fark posted the link from the Chucker’s site, the thread became a large list of additional "facts."  Also, some Farker posted this clip from Conan O’Brien.  You might want to check it out and use the best ones to make your own list.  Click my name for the insanity.

Speaking of crappy movies they made us watch in school. Does anyone remember The Buttercream Gang or McGee and Me? Every time I got suckered into a church lockin or we had a geriatric blue haired c*nt as a sub she would always pull one of those old vhs tapes out of her huge old lady bag.

Ghosted by Americandeadguy @ 01/16/2006 3:45 PM EST

kingklash, that was hilarious. I knew they showed Walker clips on Conan, but I’d totally forgotten. I love you, Conan, you freakishly large man, you. I can’t wait till he’s on a little earlier so I can actually be awake to watch him. I’m going to read the Fark thread now…because I’m damn sick of scouring the ESRB site for ratings updates…damn job is boring as hell today.

I don’t remember any of these awful movies you all are discussing…but my penchant for horrible flicks is demanding that I find them and view them, posthaste.

The Buttercream Gang was the worst of all time.  I think my church still has McGee & Me in the library, but kids love Veggie Tales.  If you think the ones we had to watch as kids were bad, you should see the embarassing stuff they come out with for adults.

Welcome back as well, Darth Poop!

When were you "Banned"????

I LOVE Conan!!  Those "Walker, Texas Ranger" clips were classic–so random and funny.  I remember when Conan said he wouldn’t show any more "offensive" or "touchy subject" (can’t remember the exact wording–I just remember he said he would "screen" them better) clips–so he shows one, only for Haley Joel Osment to say in the clip "I have AIDS…" oh my god!

I like how on Leno, he does "Weird Things We Found on Ebay."  My favorite clip was the Knight Rider car, KITT, on the German Ebay site–all the text was written in German!  I think the word for sold was "Verkauft" or something really similar.  Leno said "was it verkauft?" and the audience yelled out verkauft, and much to Leno’s chagrin, it was…VERKAUFT!!  He said it a few times–hysterical!

I also like how on Leno, they showed a clip from Leno’s classic movie performance in …drumroll…"Crash Course"!!!!

kingklash…I think it’s "SNiT."  But thats just me.

Thankfully, I’ve never seen "Buttercream Gang" or "McGee and Me."  I did, however, see the same late 1980s-early 1990s afterschool special about teenage sex twice in 8th grade health (I think the Health/PE teacher forgot that he showed it to us, so he showed it AGAIN a week later).  Can’t recall the name, but I remember some kid who was considered a "menace" b/c he had a skateboard.  Woop-idy-doo!

Allison- My last post before being banned was on 11/20/05. It took me a while to find it but it was worth it. Wasn’t it? WASN’T IT?

The Buttercream Gang was the best movie ever!!  At least, if you like making fun of movies like my brother and I do.  We still quote lines from that movie, and crack up hysterically.  Man, this makes me want to find our VHS copy and re-watch it the next time I go home.

And McGee and Me is still on sometimes, I saw it one Saturday morning.

Thanks for bringing back the memories!

Anyone remember the production company DiC (of course you do–its responsible for scaring many of us at a young and innocent age)?  I found this really funny video that shows two of their logos, along with the ultra creepy Embassy logo with the crazy spinning "E."  there’s about 4 minutes worth of logos and some funny clip from "The Weakest Link."  I could not have made this stuff up if I tried.  Take a gander, if you shall.

Oh yes, Darth Poop, it was so worth it to have the IP thing fixed so I could come on again…and post extremely unusual links to videos that will creep the sanest of sane (or insanest of insane, whatever way you prefer to look at it) out.

THAT?!?! was Sean Astin?  Holy shit, I thought Corey Haim got chubby!  But damn, poor little Sam.  He’s a good actor, though, and I like seeing recognizable people on 24, like Darlene (Sara Gilbert) and Micheal Bolton too, even though both of them were only in like 3 eps each.

Fucking Logan, I hate him.  And R.I.P. David Palmer.  I wish you were the real president!  In that I mean I like Palmer, not the other way around.  Yeah, and didn’t that Derek kid look like Rider Strong, from Boy Meets World?  And what else has the mom been in?

I watched that crazy logo movie. I just thought I was a neurotic kid because those things creeped me out. I never bothered to ask if they scared anyone else. Huh…I guess I was normal. When I was a kid, our local ABC affiliate played "The Late 8 Movie" and the open was bells ringing and this 8 that grew from the middle of the screen to take up most of it. To be fair, I think it was supposed to have an ominous feel to it, but if I happened to be up when it came on, I immediately had to crawl in the lap of my nearest parent. It petrified me.

Just a quick little complaint that’s been bugging me for a while, and now the logo video has made it timely. When, OH WHEN, will people stop using the needle scratch as a sound effect to mark when something crazy has happened (kind of like an audio spit take.) That has to be the most outdated sound effect choice and people use it every day. Honestly, I’m not sure what it would be replaced with, but considering vinyl hasn’t been mainstream in at least 15 years, it doesn’t really make sense anymore. There. Got that off of my chest.

kingklash–I used to like that old Inspector Gadget custom DiC logo too!  Kind of funny, but that nightmarish LBS (Lexington Broadcasting System) logo popped up after it–that was the scariest synthesizer music!!!

Darth Poop–I think "DEEK" should be a battle cry.  And YES, it shall be GLORIOUS!!!

"DEEEEEEEEK!"

Lori–you’re right the spittake is a dated effect, but hey its cool, get stuff like that in the open.  Makes you feel MUCH better.

Remember the old Hi-Tops logo w/that cute bouncing shoe????  I think that was plastered over a ton children’s videos.

Those GI Joe videos were funny–my friend Erika and I used to quote the one where the kid slipped on the ice, and the GI Joe arrived and said "give him the stick! Don’t give him the stick!"  "OHHHHHHHH!"

And, my former co-worker Chris and I used to quote these heavily when the video store wasn’t busy (always on Thursday nights).

Mystie posted this old logo on here with the balloons for a company called "Children’s Video Library," which has this crazy Irish Jig tune–haha hysterical!

I went to Target today, and spent–drumroll–$59!!!!!!  I bought "Wedding Crashers" DVD for the boyfriend (a just-because gift–He got me DDR Mario Mix off Ebay brand new as a just-b/c, and I do these kinds of gifts at random), and In Living Color Season 3 for myself, plus "Cosmopolitan" for reading material.

On an irrelevant note, Jim Carrey turns 44 years old today.  Wow.  Remember when he was the "token white guy with the Canadian accent" on "In Living Color"???  I guess I indirectly bought "ILC Season 3" as a tribute.  Except, I completely forgot it was his b-day.

I saw "Fun W/Dick and Jane" on New Years Day (my brother’s girlfriend bought me and Steve movie theater gift certificates ($10 each–thankfully, the state of NJ only charges us $8.50 to see a movie–though its still a rip-off!).  Jim Carrey is starting to look old to me (well, not old, but I guess its just b/c he’s been well-known for the last 16 years (my mom took me and my brother to see "Ace Ventura" in 1994 when I was 11).  His "ILC" years are the best though–great memories!  HAPPY B-DAY JIM CARREY!!!

Darth Poop, thankfully I had a feeling when I first saw those PSAs that Hasbro would get their panties in a twist, so I downloaded all of them to my hard drive. Which is great, except that I can’t access my damn hard drive until I figure out what size it is so I can get an enclosure kit to turn it into an external one, since my motherboard is fried. I went to fenslerfilm yesterday, though, and apparently they are still selling shirts. I see no better way to spend my next spare $20.

I’ve no idea what movie tickets here in Central NY go for anymore…I want to say it’s like $8.50, but I’m not sure. I think it’s $6.50 for a matinee. The boyfriend always pays, so I haven’t paid much attention. My little brother sucks because his friend works at a theater and is in tight with the manager, so he gets to see any movie he wants for free. I did get a $10 gift cert from my editor for Xmas with no expiration date, which is cool. Now to wait until a worthy movie comes out…

there use to be a movie theater around me in philly, called the devon, it was a old single theater movie house. You could see a movie for $2, albeit they were a month old or so, $2 is $2. I have seen plenty of movies there. I saw the first batman and tmnt there. I remember for both of those movies the lines going up the block.

Sadly it is now closed. It was a storage place, but I think they are turning it back into a theater.

Kingklash, my only comments are , if you’re getting a video projector for a big screen you better get a sound system that will sound even bigger. I know that sounds sort of obvious but I’m saying this out of experience. As for what movies, generally movies are made with big picture and sound in mind so just about anything in your collection that isn’t all dialog will be better on the screen.

Movies here are the typical $8.50, but you can catch a Matinee for $2 if you’re willing to venture into the Discount Cinema. Wednesdays you get free popcorn, but you gotta bring you own bag.

I was looking at a collection of 3D movies once and it came with a gadget that you hook up to the player and runs a cable to a set of LCD glasses, so you can get kind of a theme park type of 3D effect.  I like odd stuff like that.  You think they’ll ever release Jaws 3D in a special remastered disc with glasses?  As for sound, the local Mal-Wart has those chairs with a powered sound system built-in on sale for 50.  Imagine a projector, a seat with a speaker set-up and a Akira DVD.  In a darkened room.

kingklash- I named my dog Tetsuo but not after the character. I just like the name. I think that he hates me.

Mystie–BYOBBB (Bring your own brown bag, baby!).  Ok, I can officially say with confidence that I stole that from "In Living Color."  Blame my brother–he bought the DVDs from Season 2.  Oh wait, blame me–I ASKED for Season 2. I bought Season 3 yesterday.  Oh well, chalk one up to un-originality.

I was reading on Amazon.com that the Season 3 DVD has some major cuts–the music videos are all removed, and so is the "Music Video Special."  That was one of the reasons I bought season 3.  Why do you think I like that season so much–that was a GREAT special!  At least the Bloopers special is there and intact, but I’m still looking forward to watching Season 3 anyway–I’m halfway through season 2 right now.

I’m assuming "Tetsuo" is an Animae character.

I named my cat after Catreece from Super Information Hijinks: Reality Check manga. Then I found out my cat was male. His name is still Catreece. He’s a transvestite. He’s also half-demon.

"What’s that extra B for?"

"…That’s a typo."

Allison- Yes, Tetsuo is a Japanese name and it was used in Akira, the only anime that I really like. Oh hell, I love it. It aint no series though. It be a film with plenty o’ death so it’s great for the kids. kingklash mentioned it so I had to type something because I’m just like that. You know a psycho.

I, Allison, said "BYOBB" and you better believe it’s not a typo hehe!

Yes, I know, that’s from the Simpsons.

I saw your website referenced on CNN like two weeks ago, but my computer committed suicide so I haven’t been able to say anything about it…
I’m totally jealous of everyone else’s awesome Christmas presents. All I got was a jar of candy, Britney Spears perfume (?!), gift certificates, and some knives.
My Christmas was redeemed by getting to see the overly Christmas decorated houses my friends and I trek to annually which include (but not limited to) "Disco Nativity" "Seizure Circus" and "Welfare Christmas Decorating 101"
