01/09/2006: The Son of Kong!

I had every intention of giving this one the full X-E review treatment, but I’ve gotta admit defeat: Interest has waned, and there’s no sense starting an article just because it was conceived.  So forget it, let’s make it quick and dirty: I kind of liked Son of Kong.

An infamous exploit that was somehow rushed into theaters in the very same year as the original King Kong (1933), the follow up is a more direct sequel that one might think.  With Robert Armstrong reprising his role of Carl Denham and the events of the story set more or less directly following the father film, Son of Kong clocks in at just over an hour, and spends much of that time throwing crap at the walls just to be able to say it was over an hour long.  With a tighter budget and an impossibly fast production turnaround, all of the fun on Skull Island had to be kept to a minimum.  Denham and a skeleton crew head back to the mysterious lump of prehistory in search of rumored treasure.  As Denham is being sued by everyone in New York City on account of the Raging Gorilla Action seen in King Kong, this is his only hope.

A lot of reviews paint Son of Kong as a more lighthearted film than its big daddy.  I didn’t really think so.  Sure, Kong’s son is goofy and affable, but that’s no different than King Kong doing that Groucho thing with his brow when he first spots Ann in the original.  Whatever.  Skull Island is far less explored this time around, understandably, but even with a mere 20 minutes or so of the film set on the island, they managed to pack in enough monsters and mayhem to make it worth a watch.  Highlights included:

- Denham and Damsel Du Jour befriending Kong’s son (known to fans as “Kiko”) by freeing him from a quicksand trap.  They later bandage his finger and are rewarded with a hundred flying coconuts.

- Son of Kong battling a kickass giant bear, using ten trillion pro-wrestling maneuvers and managing to orchestrate a five star match without even a secondary championship on the line.  Go Kong.  And bear.

- Dinosaurs!  They’re back!  A stegosaurs!  A triceratops!  And a sea serpent that’s a hundred times cooler than anything seen in the original.  Seriously.

Kong’s son is all-hero in the film, never once a menace.  I won’t spoil the ending, but I wouldn’t recommend watching it if you think WATCHING KONG’S SON DIE WILL MAKE YOU CRY.  It’s one of those sacrifice deals — kinda sweet, actually.  No idea why Son of Kong is so often ranked among the worst movies ever made; it’s silly and unnecessary, sure, but so is every other movie starring monkeys.  I say it’s worth a watch.

First.

Sorry I’ve never been first in a internet post thang before.  I had to do it.  I almost picked up son of kong right after Christmas.  But my girlfriend yelled.

yeah, the monkey looks kind of retarded in that pic! :) :(

I love blatant spoilers…poor Son of Kong!
I nearly bought Mighty Joe Young on impulse last night but I know the three-pack set on Amazon is a much better deal so I resisted.

How many months were there between the original and the very first sequel? I would think the stop-motion would have at least taken awhile…..

I would really like to hear a semi detailed review of what you think of the Peter Jackson version versus the original!
It doesn’t have to be a full article or anything, something this size would be nice. I just get such a blast out of both, and your flare of words and own opinions would really entertain me :)

Aaaand I’m back.
I realize that most of you have been crying yourself to sleep without the rays of sunshine that are my XE blog posts into the overcast postapocalyptic wastelands that are your respective lives, and I apologize for that.  But I just spent a month back home on the farm, where the internet is so bad it gives me nosebleeds and migraines if I use it for more than three minutes at a time.  As a recap, let me just say that the Advent calendar was awesome, the book reviews were delicious, and everything’s better with monkeys.
Also, it’s a wonderful world we live in.  I scoured every Walmart, grocery store, and Stop ‘n Rob in two midsize Texas cities for a bottle of Mountain Dew Pitch Black II.  No luck.  But as it turns out, all it took was going home two months after Halloween and looking in the soda cooler of the tiny, crappy grocery store I used to work at.  There was also three bottles of Pepsi Spice.  The mind shudders away from the implications there.  So happy Decemberween, everybody.

The Yeti, Maladjusted: You have both just moved Jackson’s Kong movie from my "meh, I’ll see it eventually" list to my "snagging a rental as soon as it hits DVD" list, simply because THERE IS A DAMN RAT-MONKEY BOX ON THE SHIP?! Dead Alive is by far one of the most hilarious zombie movies, even more hilarious when put into the context that good ol’ PJ went on to do LOTR. And the fact that he gave a nod to the people who like him (or are terribly, terribly afraid of him) because of Bad Taste, Dead Alive and Meet the Feebles makes him just that much cooler in my book. And I thought I wouldn’t have anything to say in this entry… :)

Oh, and welcome back, Jedoc. I’m tempted to ask you where you’re from so I can make the trek for year-old Pepsi Holiday Spice…such is my lust for the soda that everyone else seems to hate and that I shall never see again…*sob* :)

Movies starring monkeys unnecessary?  I have three words for you, sir.

Chestnuts roasted by mtrox @ 01/10/2006 9:44 AM EST

As far as the Jackson remake goes, I was kind of impressed and kind of unimpressed.

What impressed me most were the special effects–the commercials and previews had me expecting very little from them, but the only things that really bugged me in the movie itself were the dinosaurs (there is something to be said, I guess, for mixing CGI and puppetry a’la Jurassic Park).  While Kong looked fakey in the previews, there wasn’t a point where the computer special effects took me out of the story where he was involved (which is really saying something where I’m concerned).

What disappointed me was the length.  The first hour–especially the bit on the boat–was just overlong.  If it contributed to future character development, it would be okay to me.  However, with the possible exception of Anne, all of the human Kong characters are relatively static.  As such, I think maybe twenty minutes of overlong exposition could have been cut out.

Twenty minutes of this comment could probably be cut out too.  Sorry.

Chestnuts roasted by mtrox @ 01/10/2006 9:53 AM EST

I definitely noticed when the camera lingered on the rat monkey crate but I was assuming it was some kind of reference to the original Kong. Now I know!
I’ve said it before, but the over-longishness of KK actually bugged me less on the second viewing. I’m half ready to go see it again.

If WETA is working on a Evangelion movie, you think there’s a chance for a remake of "Godzilla vs King Kong?"  By the way, did you know that Toho has acknowledged the American Godzilla?  Since the King of the Monsters proper name is Gojira, they say the big iguana that stompled New York was only mistaken by us gringos to be the big guy, and named him "Zilla."  So, the USA has it’s own official Toho Studios Kaijuu now.

Funky Monkey is probably my favorite chimp movie ever. He’s a ninja and he goes nuts all the time and beats people up. There’s also a really sweet Halloween party scene where he goes nuts and beats people up. It rocks!

I saw the Pete Jackson remake the other day and was pretty impressed. Most impressive was the fact that Pete managed to stretch a silly movie about a giant gorilla into a 3+ hour epic, but he managed to do just that by golly! It was pretty harsh for a PG-13 flick, too. Poor Andy Serkis gets his shit ruined in decidedly gruesome fashion. By the way…did anyone else spot the cage for the "Sumatran Rat-Monkey" on the ship? SING-GIA!

Chestnuts roasted by The Yeti @ 01/10/2006 12:28 PM EST

The Yeti, as I understand it, the original Kong was longer, as well…but they had to cut a bunch of stuff out of it.  (Not sure if that was actual footage or just the script).  So you can’t really give PJ the credit for that.

From what I hear, Pete Jackson left a substantial amount of footage from his version of King Kong on the cutting room floor for the theatrical release (much like he did for LOTR). Furthermore, I hear that most of that unused footage contained violent and grisly material that would have garnered the film a big fat "R" rating. I’m already salivating over the director’s-cut DVD…

Chestnuts roasted by The Yeti @ 01/10/2006 3:56 PM EST

honestly when i saw the remake i was thinking how much of a disaster it was. you could EASILY cut this movie in half and still have a few dry moments.

and while he did say true to the material there was little to keep me interested enough to really wanna watch 3-4 hours worth. i guess i was expecting something more dramatically inventive cuz the original was boring to me in the first place.

however long it was, it seemed like an eternity. i guess i’m just not impressed with big hollywood events like war of the worlds and king kong anymore.. but hey my girlfriend liked it, and everybody else seems to love it

If anyone has any sympathy at all for the deaths in Peter Jackson’s King Kong, than they obviously did not see or understand the original. It was all about killing as many people in as many ways possible.
So whenever any extra died in the film, it was like a wonderful homage to the original. I kept score and cheered at every single extra death, which is nothing I’ve ever done for a movie before. Each action scene I anticipated each wonderful demise. I just think that’s how this one was intended to be watched :)

Chestnuts roasted by yooki42 @ 01/11/2006 6:25 AM EST

Jeff Mack, I didn’t realize it until you said so that Thora Birch was in Monkey Trouble! Cripes, I’ll never watch Ghost World the same way again.

The Yeti, I think I’d probably like the movie a lot more (not that I’ve seen it yet, so it’s hard to say, of course) if I could watch it with all grisly scenes (if in fact they do exist) put back in. I loves me some good ol’-fashioned gore. I’m sure PJ will release a director’s cut or some kind of extended edition. Everyone knows the way to make money with DVDs is to keep releasing the same damn movie in a different edition every year. :P

I can’t recall enjoying any movie that had animals as lead characters (animation excluded.) The closest I got was Harry and the Hendersons. I just find them very hard to get into. Though, when we (well, most of us) were kids, there was a show on called Mr. Smith that starred a monkey. I looked forward to it enthusiastically every Friday night. I think it got cancelled pretty quickly, but clearly it made it’s mark on me since I still remember my appointment viewing and I think that was around 1984. I can’t even tell you anything about it except there was a business-suit wearing monkey in the title role. It sounds ridiculous now, but at 5 it was right up my alley.

(Sure I can go to TV.Com, but you really can’t beat that Capsulized Review technique that the Guide still does so well.)

MR. SMITH
NBC 9/23/1983- 12/16/1983
A laboratory accident turns an orangutan into a genius who finds work as a government consultant and begins demanding some basic rights, including his own home with his deceased trainer’s family.  The title character was played by C.J., an ape with previous acting experience in "Any Which Way You Can," opposite Clint Eastwood, and "Tarzan," with Bo Derek.

I liked the show.

I liked the Peter Jackson version of King Kong a lot, despite its tendency to drag in some spots…

Still, it was WAY better than that slipshod 1976 remake that Dino De Laurentis conned people into seeing.  Plus he had the chutzpah to make a sequel too it, if any of you remembers "King Kong Lives"…just terrible.

I watched "Every Which Way But Loose." on one of the HBO’s last night.  You would think Clint Eastwood with an orangatang would be interesting, but it kind of bored me.

I feel the same about PJ KK that everyone else does, slow beginning, but once it gets going it’s awesome.  Plus, I know it’s a classic line, but the "Beauty Killed the Beast" line seemed cheesy when done by Jack Black.

It’s a good thing that the monkey movie went out of style. It took a while for people to realize that no one is buying into those things. Actually, it’s a good thing that they stopped the whole trend of movies where animals (usually a dog or monkey) acts like a human in something (usually sports). Those movies are right up there with those Lifetime movies in idiocy.

Holy crap, that was funny! I’m shocked that you lost to that.

In a similar note, last year for a psychology project I did a similar thing, but with Transformers, and I re-enacted the Aqua Teen Hunger Force episode "The Last One"

took me 4 days to do it…twice. It took me 3 days to film & edit the whole thing, then deleted the pics, then found out I needed the pics when it didn’t save right to a cd, so the next weekend I did it again, and it took another 3 days.

All in all, I got an A (or 100) plus a "I’ll never forget that" message from the teacher.

Dammit.  I had planned to wait until King Kong came out on DVD to watch it, but now I can’t get the mental image of Jack Black attempting to deliver the Beauty and the Beast line out of my head.  It makes me giggle at inopportune moments, which is really going to destroy my street cred.  Guess I’m going to the movies today, since the reality can’t be nearly as amusing as my warped brain.

Nicole, don’t bother.  It’s a sad little cow town in the badlands of New Mexico.  It’s not worth the visit, even if they had the last bottle of Mr. Green there.  Trust me.

mtrox: You shut your filthy mouth.  Er…hands. Fingers?  In any case, the mere act of conveying such dire news means that I am now obliged to hunt down and ritually dishonor the remains of you and your entire extended family for three generations in either direction.  Fortunately for you, I am atrociously lazy.  Also, my murder-spree coat is at the cleaners.  So, you know, that’s good for your ancestors and probable descendents.  Still, though.  Tim Allen.  Merciful God.

Crap.  Now I really want some Mr. Green.  Did anyone else used to drink that stuff?  That ginseng soda released by SoBe?  Dark, ominous green, lizard on the label?  Ah, well.  If anybody spots some, I know where I can get three bottles of Pepsi Spice to barter with.

In more positive news, I just learned that Coca Cola is going to be releasing Vault next month, a soda with basically the same recipe as Surge but with around 25% more caffiene.  Hurrah!

I apologize, by the way.  I realize that double-posters are, in the parlance of your crazy kids, "the suck-sors."

I don’t know why people are being hatas on J.B. I think it’s an awkward line, but he delivered it fine in my opinion. Besides, he really sold the delivery on "Kooooooong!" so it’s more than compensated for.

Chestnuts roasted by squee4242 @ 01/12/2006 10:09 AM EST

You know, I liked Surge. I was in high school when it came out and Coke had representatives passing out free bottles one afternoon (we were the key demographic after all.) That was a fun bus ride home. That was about as fun as the day the incredibly stupid vending machine guy got the drink pallets off of the truck and left them in front of the school right before the bell rang. For the record, I was not one of the drink thieves, but there were a lot of sodas being passed around the bus that day. I thought for sure the administration would do something to the whole school for that, but even they must have realized the vending guy was kind of asking for it. I went to the high school witht the second-worst reputation in the city (at least we weren’t Bayside! That’s not a SBTB reference, by the way.) What was he thinking?

Since old sodas came up, got to mention OK Soda.  I would give up alot of cool stuff to have that back.

Jedoc, sad little cow towns don’t bother me, as I’m from one. I practically shared my elementary school playground with a herd of ‘em…just separated by the fence. With that and the farm across the street, I’m surprised that cow manure didn’t give all of us brain damage. Just most of us. However, New Mexico is a bit of a hike from NY, so dammit. My Pepsi Spice lust is thwarted yet again.

Lori, I too remember the craze when Surge came out and we got a vending machine of it in our high school. It wasn’t long after that that they removed all traces of caffiene from the machines and just let us have water and Powerade. Those bastards. I believe, before they changed the machines, that they were still advertising Pepsi when all you could get was water. That’s just damn cruel.

Back to Kong…I have been curious to know what people think of Jack Black’s performance. I can’t possibly even for a moment imagine him in a serious role and I can’t believe he didn’t totally blow it. Of course, I also wasn’t too sure Ashton Kucher could stop being goofy and I absolutely loved The Butterfly Effect, so I guess it’s possible. Thoughts? Comments? Donations?

Nicole:  JB delivers a good performance in KK.  I just think that Beauty and the Beast line was kinda cheesy.  The way it was said it felt like we were supposed to learn something like "Don’t judge things by their appearence."  That was the only weak spot in the entire movie.

Do they still make Surge?  I haven’t drunk that in years.  I drank alot of egg/milknog over the holiday season, but I still miss Pepsi Spice.

Comedians have been delivering dramatic performances lately to various degrees.  Jim Carey was great in "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind."  Adam Sandler was good in "Spanglish." But I didn’t care for "Punch Drunk Love."  Robin Williams also has done serious roles lately.  "Lost in Translation." just plain sucks.  Bill Murray has looked depressed lately.

On the opposite end, serious actors have been in quite a bit of comedies lately.  Deniro with the Meet the Parents comedies along with Dustin Hoffman.  I Heart Huckabees is an interesting film.  Walken is just plain fun to watch, especially on SNL.  I wish Sean Penn would get his funnybone back.

I really wanna see King Kong-but me girlfriend doesn’t-might see it with me dad though.  I work at Bed Bath & Beyond. However, Son of Kong looks pretty goofy, but maybe I’ll check it out sometime.

Chestnuts roasted by Mike the Great @ 01/12/2006 1:34 PM EST

JLAJRC….you think ‘Lost in Translation’ sucked? Really? Wow.  My friends and I love that movie.  Last year in Korea, all us English folk had a "lost in translation night" where EVERYONE came over to watch it.  I really identified with the character played by Johannsen, and how strange Asia seemed to her sometimes….

Of course I am biased, since I ADORE Bill Murray- he’s my fave comedic actor and the reason I paid good money to waste my time watching "Charlies Angels" and "The Man who Knew Too Little" in theaters!! :)

Chestnuts roasted by Muppet Baby @ 01/12/2006 1:57 PM EST

MB:  We rented it after hearing every movie critic in the world praised it and it was nominated for Academy Awards.  EVERYONE (including me) fell asleep watching it.  It wasn’t funny, it was boring, and had no point.

Lately, everytime I’ve seen Bill Murray, he looks depressed to me.  Even Billy Crystal (I think) remarked about after Bill lost.  He looked like he was about to cry.  I LOVE Bill and he’s a legend, but to me he’s quickly falling into the Chevy Chase "Used to be funny." category.  I want old Bill back.

Chestnuts roasted by JLAJRC @ 01/12/2006 4:34 PM EST

Every time I see Bill Marray I get depressed. All I wanted was a piece of his hair; he didn’t need to get a restraining order.

Chestnuts roasted by Darth Poop @ 01/12/2006 4:48 PM EST

Yeah, I guess I agree with the "used to be funny" bit, but at least he’s not TRYING to be funny, and failing at it (like Chevy Chase).  He’s being purposely dramatic, and excelling at it.  However, he did STILL make me laugh at "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zizzou"

In other news, they retired Mark Messier’s #11 at Madison Square Garden tonight.  Just watched the ceremony. Awesome.  "LET’S GO RANGERS!"

Chestnuts roasted by Muppet Baby @ 01/12/2006 10:03 PM EST

I’m looking forward to watch it again someday for its fantastic cinematography and storyline.

lost in translation was the sh#t. i was diggin the whole trilogy (lost in translation/life aquatic/broken flowers) bill murray is a genius..

but word, the cheezy beauty and the beast line? it wouldn’t matter who said it, and i didn’t see anything wrong with the way jack black said it, but it was just the line in itself, it’s basically the type of quote you would think to hear in a care bears movie, or maybe at best the hallmark movie of the week.

Chestnuts roasted by weirdozworld.com @ 01/13/2006 9:26 AM EST

Glad to hear Jack Black can be serious when he needs to be…stuff like that can really ruin a whole movie for me. I’m always completely sucked into the movie’s world and I go along for whatever ride the director has in store for me…meaning I don’t figure anything out until the director wants me to. So if something does manage to "break the string," as my dear drama-writing professor used to say, it completely upends my entire movie experience. And Jack Black failing to be serious when he needed to be would have done it for me. So good, one more reason to see KK.

I love Bill Murray. In fact, the boyfriend is often told he looks like Bill Murray…I think it’s crazy-hair thing, but he does share some personality traits. I haven’t seen anything Bill’s done recently, though they’re definitely on my list. I love all sorts of weird, crappy movies that everyone else hates, so we’ll see.

Jedoc, I feel like I’ve asked this already, but which sad little cow town in NM? I’m from Santa Fe, which is more like a surreal hippie village than a cow town. I really feel like I’ve had this conversation before, but that might have been on another site…

Of course we X-E posters know the real reason Kong was so big:

Giant Ape Juice.

Drink some where you work or play.

Chestnuts roasted by kingklash @ 01/13/2006 11:47 AM EST

Giant Ape Juice! Haha.

I am glad to see that so many of you also enjoy Bill Murray.  I am currently trying to collect all of his movies, and I am only short a few of them.

Best Bill Murray movie…?? Anyone? Anyone?  Myself, I have always been partial to "What About Bob?" and "Quick Change". Although "Lost in Translation" is growing on me, I am hesitant to call it a ‘Bill Murray Movie’.

Chestnuts roasted by Muppet Baby @ 01/13/2006 1:08 PM EST

Ha! Can’t believe that took 80 comments :D
I think Lost in Translation is a touch overrated but not terrible…I’ve only watched it once and thought it was pretty good with a few little flaws. Definitely not as enamored with it as some friends were, though. (I did like Life Aquatic a lot, though Royal Tenenbaums is my fav Anderson movie).
Jables totally rocks in Kong. He’s a bit melodramatic and even hammy but it’s completely appropriate to the tone of the movie.
The Butterfly Effect was the worst movie I’ve ever bought a ticket for that wasn’t Jurassic Park III. Seriously…

Chestnuts roasted by squee4242 @ 01/13/2006 1:47 PM EST

Muppet Baby:  Ghostbusters, or perhaps The Life Aquatic.  I was bored by Lost in Translation.

Chestnuts roasted by mtrox @ 01/13/2006 1:49 PM EST

Best Bill Murray movie…??

Groundhog Day
Ghostbusters

I didn’t like life aquatic. I felt it was going nowhere and it was trying to be too quirky.

I did like lost in translation though.

Hey Matt got a link to his book review from MSN. I just saw it on a blog called Test Pattern on their five link Friday list.

Sorry for the second post, but I had to point at that the person who put the link there totally mish-mashed all the books into one synopsis.

Off Topic, but does anyone know if there is like, a F13 marathon anywhere on TV tonight?

Chestnuts roasted by Jessie Spano @ 01/13/2006 4:14 PM EST

Here’s a true story that’s a little off topic. A few months ago I and some of my friends were outside my school for lunch. This big guy, whom we had never seen before walks up to my friend Corey and asks him if he’s seen the Butterfly Effect. Corey says no so the guy looks around and then crouches down and punches Corey in the nuts, all in one fluid motion. This is no joke, it was really horrible.

Chestnuts roasted by Darth Poop @ 01/13/2006 4:18 PM EST

Squee, 99.999998% of people who saw Butterfly Effect absolutely hated it. I liked it. However, I am also known to actively seek out movies that involve zombie ninjas gangbanging, Muppet-type characters ejaculating, and a lady with chipmunk cheeks living in a radiator. So that says something for my tastes.

My favorite Bill Murray movie…that’s hard to pick. I honestly can’t think of a single movie he’s been in that I’ve seen and didn’t like. I think the nod has to go to Ghostbusters though. My family quotes lines from both of those movies regularly in our everyday conversations.

So, either the poor dude flopped around like a broken butterfly after getting the nutcracker, or, in accordance with Chaos Theory, that one hit eventually resulted in Hurricane Katrina.  Now I feel all warm and fuzzy, must be that tribble I ate.

Mara: Clayton.  It’s practically Texas, practically Oklahoma, practically Colorado, and very nearly noplace at all.

Chestnuts roasted by Jedoc @ 01/13/2006 6:49 PM EST

Bill Murray’s best moments for me are: the Tourrette’s part of What About Bob ("shit eating sonofabitch, numbnuts, douchbag…" etc.)–I can do the whole thing, but I wont; then Stripes, surprised no one has mentioned it; then Royal Tenenbaums, just because that is one of my favorite movies, and he is a part of it; then anytime they do a close-up of him at a Cubs game, I just get excited when I see him.

Chestnuts roasted by schroeder @ 01/13/2006 7:11 PM EST

Pardon my return to Kong talk, but I wanted to give some ups to the supporting cast too…I think I’ve already established that I loved Mr. Hayes, with his gruff exterior/heart of goldiness…Andy Serkis is absolutely adorable as poor lamentable Lumpy. Colin Hanks was soooo perfect as the unassuming guy that I can’t even remember the character’s name. Now that’s acting!

Chestnuts roasted by squee4242 @ 01/13/2006 7:41 PM EST

As far as Bill Murray is concerned–I’m a big fan of his work, but I can’t say I like him.  I’ve heard stories that just make me think he’s a very mean-spirited individual.

Chestnuts roasted by mtrox @ 01/13/2006 8:03 PM EST

Well, I don’t know about a marathon, but F13 VII is on Spike TV in about 50 minutes.

Chestnuts roasted by Lori @ 01/13/2006 9:06 PM EST

Also not a marathon, but if you can stay up until 1:15 am (central time) and have HBO ZONE F13 Part 3 is on.

My Fav Bill Murray flick is obviously the Ghostbuster films.  Although he does an AWESOME cameo as a sadomastic dental patient in the musical movie version of Little Shop of Horrors (my fav film of ALL TIME)

Chestnuts roasted by JLAJRC @ 01/13/2006 9:57 PM EST

Fav Bill Murray movie - Groundhog’s Day.  That movie is nothing but Bill.  Now I probably love the Peter Venkman roll a little more but if I’m going for the most bang-fo-the-buck Bill moments in one movie I’m going with Groundhog’s Day.

I’ll be watching both F13 features tonight just because its the right thing to do.  Whenever I see the 13th is falling on a Friday I immediately expect to see a F13 edited and broadcast on cable.

I know I’m way late, but congrats Matt for a Marey X-mas.

Tenacious D is playing a benefit tonight but tickets are already sold out!!! I couldn’t afford the tix for the Katrina benefit they did awhile back…Now I got the $$ and I can’t give it away :(

Jedoc: I’ve actually been through there before. Can’t tell what it was for, but I remember thinking "does every town in New Mexico have an airport?" because pretty much every one does.

Get out your atlas, kiddies, ’cause there is a Nowhere here in Oklahoma.  It’s like  a house, a bait shop, and a water tower near a lake.  The lake smells like duckwater.
