You are all doomed. Why not surrender? We might let you live.

11/27/2005: A 2 A.

As you can see, we’re gearing up for this year’s Advent & Advert Calendar features. (Thanks to Brian for working on the design, even though he’s a miserable Kraut and I hate hate hate him.) For those who don’t know, I LOVE CHRISTMAS and intend to ostracize everyone who doesn’t celebrate it by writing about it over and over and over again, or until I get drained in late December. This year, we’re doing things a little bit differently. Okay, I admit it: We’re doing things more simply, because I want to make sure I don’t overextend myself and hit a point where you come here and find NO CHRISTMAS PRESENTS!

In other words, for X-E’s 2005 Christmas season, I’ve decided to keep everything located here, on the blorgh. The decision was pretty easy, since the holidays have become a busy and generally good time for the blog — lots of lurkers come out of the virtual woodwork to contribute, and because of all of the many wonderful holiday-themed items I seem to pick up by the minute, there are usually more new posts during December than during any other month on the site. So, let’s make this place one big ol’ month-long holiday bash!

The blog will be homebase for this year’s Advent and Advert Calendars, and if you don’t know what those are, I guess you haven’t been reading the site very long.

You say potato, I say po-tah-to…you say Coree, I say Core’!! j/k!

I alway get a kick out of Feldman in The Burb’s. I also like License to Drive, featuring Uncle Phillip Banks!

Rudolph is on tonite on CBS. Also, the comic strip "Get Fuzzy" is about marshmallow Peeps today.

The Wizard issue with Matt’s article mention is #171.

kidneyboy: So I assume that means it’s the COREy system?

Ahahahahahahahaaaaa!

God, I’m lonely.

A very nice story about A Charlie Brown Christmas, and even better, a list of all holiday specials on TV this year! Woo hoo!

Great find TimCo! Gotta get the DVR setup.

Aw, crap. Down this way, "Rudolph the Red Knows Rain, Dear" is being pre-empted by college sports. And I don’t want to set my VCR to record it at 2:00 in the morning, when KWTV 9 will run it. Good thing I bought Ma that boxed set of Rankin-Bass specials last year. "Nobody wants a Charlie-in-the-Box!"

HEllz ya its advent time. This has become as much a part of christmas as the man in red himself

Woo! Just a bit more than 12 hours to go! Or will it be like last year and the first part be posted later today? Only Matt knows…

I’d let you guys know what kind of Compy I have, but I’m at college right now (during a free period), that and I just plain forgot. I’ll let y’all know when I get home later :D

The Advent/Advert calendars are rapidly becoming one of my most cherished holiday traditions. I’m looking forward to them way more than I probably should. Uh, no pressure, Mat. ;)

TimCo, thx for the link! I’ve been scouring Google looking for a comprehensive Christmas specials list to enjoy with my kids. Trying to instill the "time-honored tradition" of a cup of hot cocoa and some great olde time classics.

When I checked the blog just now and saw all of those question marks, my heart leaped and I exclaimed how excited I was to my husband, in a sort of out-of-control voice. Kinda creeped me out.

Am I the only one giddy with anticipation for the advent calendar? Did I just use the word giddy in a sentence… on purpose?

Bring on the MARE!

Ghosted by bdsghost @ 11/30/2005 2:41 PM EST

Definitely not the only one giddy…. um.. yeah. :P

Ghosted by Double G @ 11/30/2005 3:31 PM EST

If I called myself giddy i’d have to beat my own ass- however this will be an ass-whoopin well taken!

So this is the first year that I’ve actually broken down and The Boyfriend and I have gotten Christmas stuff. Ever since I’ve been on my own, I’ve just had a tiny lit tree with a single shoebox of lame ornaments. My excuse was that you put the stuff out for one month, then it sits in storage for 11! But this year I was officially hit by the bug (in no small part thanks to X-E, by the way!). But DAMN! Christmas shit is expensive! We haven’t even gotten half our stuff (including the tree!) and we’ve already spent $50. Craziness.

In other news, our local Target put the Jones soda on clearance, so if anyone wants one, let me know (not the regional stuff; just the regular one). I guess here in Orlando there was no run on such things…

I know I’m behind the times, but for Black Friday we ran out to Circuit City and got two Sirius radio thingys free-after-rebate. I’m hoping satellite radio will actually have decent music and not loads of bad commercials, bad DJs, and bad music. Anyone have it and can confirm such allegations??

Ghosted by purplegirl247 @ 11/30/2005 4:38 PM EST

Count me in as giddy.

Also, purplegirl, the Sirius has lots of different stations. It all depends on what you’re into. The DJ’s are pretty inoffensive. No commercials, but they do Sirius drops and jingles fairly frequently. If you’re into Christmas, they’re doing all Christmas music on Ch. 2 and all Country Christmas music on 52. Should be able to find something you like.

Best Buy has a 2 for $20 deal on holiday movies. I picked up Christmas Vacation and Charlie Brown Christmas. They had a couple other good choices too.

Ghosted by Double G @ 11/30/2005 6:42 PM EST

why am i such a misfit

Ghosted by PDAC @ 11/30/2005 6:58 PM EST

purplegirl: also, Howard Stern is coming to Sirius next month! (january)

Also, the kind of Compy I have is a Dell Dimension 4100 from a few years ago, and I’m on Microsoft XP. Where do I get this player that will let me play .avi files? I’ve tried to play Seth MacFarlane’s "The Life of Larry" but I could not view it becuase it was on this kind of a file. I did found a RealMedia version of it, but it had crappy quality and froze roughly 4 minutes in.

MATT-
Silly question: Did you write the bit, like an informative commercial, on Nick about farts?

Ghosted by kb @ 11/30/2005 7:34 PM EST

I’m so sad–Paul Deanno is leaving CBS-3 in Philadelphia for WTVJ (NBC-6) in Miami. KYW just lost one of its best meteorologists. Not only that, but he is also extremely cute!! I met him during my internship this summer, and I have my picture with him. Needless to say, I’ll ALWAYS treasure it. He was a really nice guy too.

Anyone from the Philly area know who Paul Deanno is? I realize probably no one else is sadder than me, but he was a great guy. I’ll miss him.

Can’t you tell I’m in freakin’ mourning here?!

I gotta tell you guys about my tacky cookie jar–this thing is about 45-50 years old. My grandma bought it from a Woolworth’s/5 and 10 store in Central Jersey/Union County between the late 1950s and late 1960s. It’s ceramic with cookies raised and imprinted all over it–extremely tacky…and I love it to death. Has incredible sentimental value!

THEY’RE UP!! Dear God click those question marks, cuz the calendah is HERE!

Sorry for the double (well triple, really) post, but Matt you make me near-to weep with Holiday- Nay! CHRISTMAS joy.

Ghosted by Rhino @ 11/30/2005 9:59 PM EST

I don’t know if Matt or anyone else has noticed, but I saw boxes of Christmas Crunch when I went grocery shopping today.

Shit! When I saw that Lego advent calendar, my first thought was "Hmm…Matt should do this like the Playmobil one."

I think it’s probably not healthy that on the job I’m thinking of what should be done on XE…

Ghosted by Fangsy @ 12/02/2005 6:37 PM EST

I got the Lego Advent calendar for my 4 year old son. Now I can enjoy it twice a day: once when he opens his gift and again when I come to XE to read Matt’s treatment of it.
