Christmas Peeps Dolls!

I've been trying to "be good" when it comes to buying Christmas stuff this year, partly because we're moving to a new apartment in a few months, and it's become an "everything must go" situation during our preliminary packing. On the other hand, when you're walking through the junk food aisle of your local supermarket and spot plush Marshmallow Peeps dolls, whatever convictions you have just turn to mush.

It's the latest chess move in Peeps' plot to take over the world. The dolls come in a small, plushy size (called "Bean Bags") and a larger size ("Squeezes") using materials more akin to a pillow. The dolls reflect some of Peeps' greatest Christmas entries -- a snowman, gingerbread man and the almighty Christmas tree. They're perfect stocking stuffers, and I'm not entirely sure if there's anything in the world I enjoy more that stuffed stockings. Incidentally, the store also sold Christmas Peeps stockings, so you can stuff the Peeps into Peeps and, all told, finally have an avenue to use the word "Peeps" five times per sentence without being at all redundant.

EDIT: WOOO! Jones Soda Regional Holiday Pack in my hands! WOOOO salmon soda!

I knew sumptin’ was up with Peeps! Last Easter, Avon was offering plush Peep chicks with pull-back motors in them. They were even supposed to have a "Peep-peep" sound as they waddled across the table. Now, these ginormous guys show up. The Fates are trying very hard to jump-start my X-Mas Spirit here.

If Jones is intending for the regional Holiday Packs to only be available in Seattle, they’ve done a piss-poor distribution job. Clicky on my name for evidence. :)

Anyway, I’m looking forward to Matt’s review. The national pack review was pretty good, but if you wrangle more co-workers for the regional pack, Matt, encourage them to write more than 1 or 2 word descriptions! I really enjoyed "Granger"’s comments from the national review. "Betty" and "Wilma"’s were pretty anticlimactic, though.

Keep up the great work!

I can’t wait till I see the faces of the Salmon drinkers.

Mat needs to get a small video clip of it so we can run it in slow motion to properly capture the spray of soda and the variety of colorfull euphamisums for having intercourse with yourself that leave thier mouths.

Betty and Wilma were dragged into the event at the last second. I don’t think they embraced this activity. :)

The only way I would be drinking any of those Jones sodas is with a tounge covered in wax, like Homer and the acid trip inducing chili. Also Matt- I found some tapes with commercials on them from about 1989-94. I have about 10 tapes to go through, I will e-mail you a list of what I have if your interested. (I don’t know if 89-94 is too `new’)

Well I am glad to see there is atleast a few X-E fans from Pittsburgh. I go to the University of Pitt and live in Oakland. We should have an X-E party/get together thingy sometime haha.

Matt,
Good luck on the move, I can’t imagine what kind of hell it’s going to be to move all your toys and goodies that you have flowing off the shelves like we’ve seen in all your countless photos on the site. Regarding the stuffed PEEPS, those are ADORABLE. Haven’t seen those in person yet but my sister has one of the Easter bunny stuffed PEEPS.

If you have to get rid of anything in the course of moving, you can always put a "X-E Mystery Box" together, and hold a drawing for it for us posters. Winner pays postage.

I wonder if the fine people at Jones make new flavors just to see Viv squirm.

Chrismas tree was put up yesterday. The only ornaments I have up right now are the Star Wars ornaments and I just put up two new ones I got today. An episode 3 clone trooper with the markings of the 501st legion, though on the box it says that it’s a clone lieutenant. In episode 2 the clones with blue markings were lieutnants but in ep 3 color showed what legion they were part of. I also got a new Darth Vader on Bespin when he revealed the awful truth to Luke. Anyone else have their tree up.

Darth Poop-
not yet but I have been scanning the horizon for anyone who is selling them. I refuse to get a fake one…I like the smell of real trees…where did you get yours?

Chestnuts roasted by kingofkings @ 11/09/2005 3:48 PM

oh crap I hope you post a review of the regional pack too

An email 20 years from now huh. Wonder if the robots who take over will let us check our email-what a time to be alive!

Chestnuts roasted by D-MAN @ 11/09/2005 4:12 PM

kingofkings- My tree is fake :( I probably got it at Target. It comes in 3 pieces with lights already attached, though I add a few extra strings of lights. The branches are attached and fold up for storage. Real trees are just to much of a hassle.

Chestnuts roasted by Darth Poop @ 11/09/2005 4:23 PM

:( I love those little chucky heads. Don’t know how to do it unless that just worked. I cut and pasted it on word and made it big and a totally stopped a co-worker in her tracks-she yelled "WTF is that chucky! what are you doing??" and I had to close it fast and say Nothin what are you doing?? Everyoe stared at us for like 10 seconds. Fantastic!

Hi all, long time no post. can someone please post the link to the x-mas jukebox, because I’m just too damn lazy to search for it.

Betty and Wilma were dragged into the event at the last second. I don’t think they embraced this activity.

Still, I bet they were glad to get away from Fred and Barney for a while.

I just saw a commercial for a robo-dog. It’s doing its robo-thing as a jealous real dog looks on and TALKS, telling it to "play dead, now play don’t-get-up." I can’t see how any kid is doing watch this commercial and not end up completely ignoring the robo-dog part and asking Mom and Dad for a goddamn TALKING GOLDEN RETRIEVER for Christmas instead.

"doing" = "going to"

*sigh*

Waitaminute, back up a few bazillion comments…

Did someone ask Matt to take pictures of his "Wonderful Junk" or did I just imagine that?

Well, it was hilarious to me.
