I have always loved that movie. The part when Snoopy as the World War One flying ace piloting his sopwith camel has always been my favorite part. Of course it ended with him kissing Lucy. I watched Gilmore Girls instead. I blame my roommate. I don’t really like it….

conchristador: That’s a pretty boss pumpkin carving game. I’ll try to improve on my less-than-stellar real pumpkin carving endeavor. I tried to make it a vampire pumpkin but one of its two fangs fell off during carving so it looks more like a red-neck than a vampire.

Was too busy watching the VH1 80’s 3D specials. Harry Anderson hasn’t aged very well. Also talked about Monchichis and the Press Your Luck Whammies. Although I think they’re running out of material since they’ve talked about things like DC Cab, Christopher Cross, and Jaws 3D.

Yeah, I’ve been glued to the tube so far this week watching I Love the 80’s 3D and AMC’s Monsterfest. The new I Love the 80’s episodes could be condensed into 30 minutes instead of an hour if they got rid of the all the stupid boring stuff…still, I can’t help myself from watching it. Is anybody a fan of the comedy group Stella? I am a HUGE fan and I got to see "The Baxter" tonight. Good date movie but don’t expect to find any of the outrageous Stella humor most people expect from them.

I was at my family’s house for supper last night and missed it. My sixteen year old cousin HAD to watch Gilmore Girls and taped Charlie Brown for us. Yeah, thats right GOZER, Gilmore Girls is for 16 year old girls. I’m sorry that was uncalled for. I guess I’m just still a little bitter.

They did Fashion Plates. I had the "boy" versions. Yep, I traced quite a few monster trucks in my day. I had the smaller, travel versions. Well they weren’t really smaller, they just didn’t have the compartments to the side of the frame. Everything fit in a drawer below the drawing surface.

How many people ever wanted to make Charlie Brown’s ghost costume? And how many have actually worn one? "Great Pumpkin" is my favorite Hallowe’en Special, and "King of the Hill" has my favorite Hallowe’en episode of a regular series. Wouldn’t surprise me at all if Junie Harper is planning some sort of revenge scheme on Hank for ruining her religious boiler-room operation.

I don’t know if I’d say that I "like" Gilmore Girls, but I have to say that it grows on you. I started watching it ’cause my roommate actually likes it and Lauren Graham and Alexis Bladel are both hott. The dialog can be pretty nauseating though. That being said though, I guess I still am a 23 year old guy who watches Gilmore Girls. I’ll watch extra football this weekend to recover some masculinity.

Anyone else watching AMC’s "Monsterfest?"

So far, it’s been a little weak. They’re choosing good franchises, but the wrong sequels, in my opinion. They did Friday the 13th, but the one with Corey Feldman, which was never my favorite, and last night they did Halloween, but the one with the annoying little girl in 98% of the movie. I think they’re doing the first Hellraiser, so things are looking up…

Kingklash–I love the King of the Hill Halloween Episode too! I threw it into my little marathon the other weekend (with Garfield, Peanuts, and an assload of Simpsons).

Also, in regards to all the discussion about Peeps in the last thread, here is official word on the extinction of cocoa bats…

"PEEPS Cocoa flavored Bats were replaced by PEEPS Cocoa flavored Cats beginning with the 2004 Halloween season. They are the same great taste, with just a different shape. Our Sales and Marketing team does their very best to market all of our products and make them widely available. Unfortunately though, we have no control over which products retailers decide to stock on their shelves."

Also, they don’t know what’s in development but thank me for pitching pumpkin-flavored peeps. Someday my peeps will come.

I did my freakin’ part and watched the freakin’ special. Man, I loved it!

I bought this DVD last year, but the TV version isn’t re-mastered like the DVD is (at least, it doesn’t seem like it). I love how the music stops abruptly, and there is this crackling dead air before something else is said or music is played. Great stuff.

Starwenn, is your video copy from the 80s and have the Hi-Tops logo, or is it a Paramount video?

Anyone watch I Love the 80s 3D ‘82 and ‘83 last night? See Tron and Jaws 3D? Good stuff. I like how in Jaws 3D (which was horrible) the Bruce the shark is swimming toward the window, and even he isn’t all to jazzed about the prospect of crashing through the window–the best of the worst special FX I have witnessed in a long time. ‘84 and ‘85 tonight!

Time passed, and Jack was before the Pearly Gates. Again he waited as he watched worthy souls being welcomed in. He even saw a couple of his former victims gain entrance.
“This is more like it,” he said to himself, “I know they’ll gladly take in someone who’s beat the Devil.”
“Not very likely.” said St. Peter, suddenly at Jack’s side, a large book in his hand. “Your reputation proceeds you.”
Jack was all charm, “Your Saintlyness, sir. What do you mean, ‘Not likely’?”
“Your record of your Life, I mean.” St. Peter opened the book, “Especially the record of your crimes.”
“Is my record somewhere in the Book?”
“The record is the Book!”
“Right. I had no idea I was so…. prolific.”
“That’s what happens when you start by pulling your first bait-and-switch at Eight Years of age.”
“That would be the, let’s see, the Shepherd’s Pies filled…..”
“…With peat moss, yes. Claimed later that your family couldn’t afford enough meat to fill that many orders.”
“Sheep eat moss, sometimes. I did make a tidy profit, though. Never could understand why the other children were so mad, I made sure the moss was cooked.”
“I don’t have the time to go over all your records, or listen to your explanations. The point is, you can’t come in.”
“Seems I heard this song before. Why not? Afraid I’ll take over here, too?”
“Of course not, But you have very few redeeming acts recorded. Look at the index based on types of deeds,” Peter flipped towards the back of the book. “These pages here are all the times you made off with dowries of young women you proposed to, including that set of triplets!”
“Now that was an honest mistake there, what had really happened…”
“Enough!” St. Peter snapped the book shut with the sound of a thunderclap. “The point is, you haven’t done enough in your life to gain entrance. The table of contents is longer than the record of good deeds.”
“But, you forget that I am the one who’s beaten the Devil, not once, or twice, but…. let’s see….”
“You forget that two of the ways to gain his attention, are either being a pure, good soul that he can’t help but try to corrupt, or your way, being a underhanded, light-fingered, selfish spirit who skirts all laws and might just make a perfect minion down in Hell.”
“I’m no one’s lackey. But then again, I guess that’s why ‘Lucie’ don’t want me either, So, if wasn’t such a artist at…..” Jack held up St. Peter’s golden key to the Pearly Gates, quietly slipped off his key ring.
“Give me that!” Snatching his key back, Peter spread his wings. “Since you can’t come here or go there, but haven’t earned a chance with a new life, you can move about freely on Earth as a spirit. You just have to find out your limits on your own. Try to make the best of it. At least it isn’t Purgatory.” And, using his key, the Concierge of Heaven passed though the gates, quickly locking them behind.
“Now that is a fine how-do-you-do, isn’t it.” Jack thought as he sat down on the stairway to Heaven. “I have all the time in the world, and nothing to do with it. I just know I’ll get bored before the century’s out.”

Anyone watch I Love the 80s 3D ‘82 and ‘83 last night? See Tron and Jaws 3D? Good stuff

I always loved the I Love The 80s specials the best. The commentators are actually enthusiastic on what they’re talking about, cause they’re really going back to their childhood. It’s just awesome. This time around, I love how Dan Frischman’s title was originally "Head of The Class" and now its just "Actor" in last night’s episodes.

The 90s ones were awkward because they just happened not too long ago. Hell, you’d think I would realte to that series cause I was a child of the 90s….I only remembered half of the stuff.

And the 70s ones were even more awkward because most of the commentators were either little kids or weren’t born yet (I can remember Kelly Rowland commenting on Snuffy in the ‘70 ep, and the original I Love The 80s told us she was born in ‘81).

And how many commentators have been in all 6 series? I can count 4: Micheal Ian Black, Rich Eisen, Mo Rocca and Hal Sparks.

I know what you mean Norbert. I’ve watched every version of those I Love Specials and the 90’s versions has been the worst so far I think. I remember more of the 80s stuff even though I was born in 81. What the heck was I doing during the 90s since I didn’t even remember half the stuff either.

Well, it makes perfect sense. The 80s had better stuff, and therefore the shows about the 80s are better.
I was born in 1984, but I still identify with the 80s more than with the 90s. Mostly because my family was a bunch of poor farmers, and so most of my toys were hand-me-downs from my older cousins, most of them from the late seventies and early eighties. In addition, most of our movies were tapes from our uncle’s satellite, and so most of my advertising consumption was five to ten years out of date.
For me, the 90s didn’t really start until 1996…when I got the internet.

I know this is not a Gilmore Girls message board, but since we are/were kind of on the subject…

I like the "intelligent" humor in Gilmore Girls, and although I think it is more of a "chick show", I don’t think it’s weird for a guy to like it. I’m a girl, by the way. I might think it was weird for a guy to be religiously obsessed with it, but whatever. Anyways, I just started watching it in Season 5, but I bought the first two seasons and I like them SOOO much better. The dialogue is so fast-paced and hilarious. Recently, they have tried to get more in depth and "grown-up" with Rory and Logan having sex, Lorelai and Rory not speaking, Rory dropping out of college. I liked it better when it was more light-hearted and not so much "Rory’s life is falling apart, oh no, what shall we do."

Did anyone watch Supernatural after Gilmore Girls? I’m sure there are much better "ghost-hunting" series on TV, but WB is one of the few channels I get. It was pretty interesting, with the urban legend about the hook man. That used to scare the crap out of me.

The Horror Channel should not be confused with HorrorNet (formerly Scream Channel). I am keeping my fingers crossed that HorrorNet gets a shot since Joe Bob Briggs is developing the programming for the network according to their site.

I am totally going to have a Halloween party in my grade 10 English class…..not because they deserve it, but because I want one, and I am doing it for ME!

My Question: Should we watch "It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" OR Some Simpsons Halloween Episodes? They are a bunch of repeaters- some are 17 years old, they hate school, each other, and life sometimes…which one would be the better choice for the party, do ya think?

Okay guys, I’ve got a little story. For years my room has been the coldest one in the house and I’ve been pestering my dad to look at the vent and see what’s going on. My room is seriously like 10 or more degrees colder than the rest of the house in the winter because nothing comes out of the vent. So I come home from school tonight and my mom says: "Look in the garbage and see what we found." So I do, and it’s this dark dirty square thing. I’m like: "Wallpaper? What?" and so I pick it up, and it’s a filthy, brown, curled-up Muppet Babies book! I opened it up to see how old it is, and there’s an Oral-B coupon that expired in 1989. A 16 year old book has been blocking my vent for almost the same length of time. I couldn’t believe it! The things you find when things get done…

Muppet, I vote for the Simpsons, just because I don’t think old Chuck is going to hold the attention of jaded 17 year olds.
I personally prefer I Love the 70’s, actually. I do agree that the commenters are most enthusiastic about the 80’s and least about the 90’s. They rerun those things into oblivion though, so it’s no good excuse for skipping the Great Pumpkin…they’re only going to keep showing the holiday specials if people are watching

LuLu - I agree that the story lines are getting a little too heavy on GG, but i think they are going to be wrapped up within the next 2 episodes. and the rory/sex issue was tackled long before this, so that won’t be dwelled on.

as for supernatural, i try to watch it because jensen ackles is the hottest thing on earth, but it really scares the life out of me. i’ve come to realize that the older i get, the less i enjoy being scared. especially when i live alone in an apartment in the city. i’m a big giant wuss.

now on to more halloweenie things… i was at the grocery store last night getting my pumpkin and i saw what could only be called THE saddest halloween candy display on the planet. 4 small (and when i say small, i’m talking webster would be a giant next to these bastards) card tables scattered with a couple boxes of shitty candy. i cried a little.

I too vote for Simpsons, simply because there’s currently 15 of them. (16 on…November 6?!) Especially if you have either:

1) The THoH DVD
2) Seasons 2-6 on DVD with the first 5 of them (4 & 5 were two of the best ones)

Charlie Brown is good too, with the lame wishy-washy pumpkin-headed character they could probably relate with. And they should use those rocks that they get to throw at Lucy for the prior football incident, to channel Matt’s first Great Pumpkin article. But I just can’t say no to a Treehouse of Horror marathon.

And for all you Animaniacs/Pinky & The Brain fans out there, good news! The link on my name will tell you all.

Went for another job interview today–they asked for references, which never happened at my other interviews. That’s a good sign.

You wanna know how bored I am in an attempt to find a job??? I sat and organized all 218 songs in my iPod nano into playlists (50s/60s/70s, 80s/90s, New Millenium, Christmas, and Comedy). If I get this job, at least I’ll be busy all day.

Muppet Baby, a vote for the Simpsons. Charlie Brown is a feel-good special, therefore, these kids may be completely disenchanted by the whole experience. A small portion of the kids in my high school probably would have been all over Charlie Brown. But, all of us would have wanted to watch The Simpsons. Or both.

Jedoc, that would be a fascinating item to leave. Someone would want to move out after seeing that. "Today, as I slip even further into the depths of complete insanity, I continue argue with the voices in my head as to what token of my presence I should leave in my humble abode…" Jedoc, I smell a "major award"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jedoc’s notebook will end with the handwriting getting more and more sloppy and chaotic, maybe suddenly changing to crayon or burnt matchstick. Then in grand pulp/shlock tradition, suddenly trailing off into one long squiggle while trying to describe some entitiy in the same room as the author. Add some mystery stains, singe the edges of the book, and of course, write on the cover or first page, "If you’re holding this book, it may be too late!"

I have good news–at 9:30 this morning, I got a phone call from the office I interviewed at yesterday, and was asked "Are you ready for work on Monday?" I got a Secretary/Receptionist job–not exactly what I went to school for, but it’s good work and it beats unemployment. I think if I remained unemployed for a few more weeks, I would have been the one writing the journal in purple crayon. Hehe.
