Halloween Kid Cuisine!

That "DVD TV" shit AMC did with the original F13 flick...THUMBS UP. If you don't know what I'm talking about, AMC just ran the original Friday the 13th with the lower third of the screen blocked off for a running text trivia session, and though I've read pretty much every factoid in my extensive research of All Things F13 before, the gimmick kept me glued to the screen for however long the movie was on. Would be great to see more films get that treatment. What fun. Speaking of fun, now they're showing F13 IV, so I'm going to leave you in a hurry with Monday's entry on the Halloween Countdown: Spooky Kid Cuisine!

If you're reading right now, turn on AMC...right now!

So I went ahead and created a X-E page on Wikipedia. (click my name)

‘Tisnt much, but it’ll do.

Remember that anyone can update/edit the page, so knock yourselves out.

This goes out to Kacy on the last thread:

~’Is the winner, man’ doesn’t rhyme with Cinnamon~

No, it doesn’t in the strictest sense, but it still has the assonance going on with the short "i"s.

ex: "This is the winter of our discontent"

Sorry, I disect all lyrics for assonance, consonance, off-rhymes, etc. :)

Great article, Matt! Except, I love the crappy Kid Cuisine desserts.

P.S. I think the link to the picture "sauce.jpg" is broken.

My school served pizza in the hot lunch line that was more like a giant communion wafer covered in tomato soup and Grade D beef.

It was truly disgusting.

But anyhoo, that F13 DVD_TV thing was indeed awesome. Young Jason is now a Jewish Reggae singer.

Chestnuts roasted by The Wukong Effect @ 10/23/2005 10:52 PM

A Jewish Reggae singer and a very nice dude to boot. My only regret is that they went with the original F13 for the DVD TV treatment. Would’ve preferred…well, 2, 3 or 4 specificially. Anything with Jason. :)

Anyone else catch that girl’s mistake? One of the actresses from F13 claiming to be "Jason’s first victim?" Uh, honey, no, you were Pamela’s first victim. Big difference.

Mtrox: Thanks, fixed the link.

I caught a bit of the F13 DVD thing, and it seemed cool. However, I’m too entranced by the new Hitchcock 15-DVD box set (which is, in my opinion, the perfect viewing for Halloween week) to watch anything else.

And Friday Part 4 is outrageous. I’ll let you, the X-Entertainment readers, decide if that’s in a good or bad way.

Chestnuts roasted by mtrox @ 10/23/2005 10:55 PM

Now I can’t wait to watch the taped AMC goodness. I am glad I didn’t stop it since Part IV is on now and it has been awhile.

Glad to see KID CUISINE join us again. I knew they would be along eventually. I tried the chicken nuggets one the other day. Not bad. Picked up the Dracula fish sticks for tomorrow…

Chestnuts roasted by The Manimal @ 10/23/2005 10:56 PM

Did you say Dracula fish sticks? I believe you did.

God dammit my area SUCKS this year for Halloween goodness. I’ve had to travel out of state for the Jones soda, Pitch Black II, the cereals, etc. And now I’m missing the fish sticks? :(

Chestnuts roasted by Matt @ 10/23/2005 10:58 PM

I also just watched the dvd-trivia version of Friday the 13th and a little bit of part 4 on AMC…very cool. These movies never get old. My friend told me about this interesting article about the 25th anniversary of Friday the 13th. I really want to get the book they talk about in the article, looks pretty damn nifty for a book about an unstoppable mongoloid.

Chestnuts roasted by Kevin @ 10/23/2005 10:59 PM

Hrm…it would seem that there are four Halloween Kid Cuisine meals available. I’ve found the nuggets, I’ve found the pizza and Manimal has found the fish sticks. Okay, so what’s the fourth?

Chestnuts roasted by Matt @ 10/23/2005 11:03 PM

Yeah, Dracula (Duckula?) fish sticks from KID CUISINE.
Don’t feel too bad. No PITCH BLACK II around my area but I did buy the last of the JONES HALLOWEEN SODA.
If you haven’t checked out the email yet, it will boost your Halloween spirits. :)

Wow, Matt, thanks for the creepy sound effects. Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined that "ConAgra" would be listed in the Artist column of my iTunes. A rare day indeed!

I know it’s sacrilege, but I think I’m gonna have to switch over to Sideways. Awesome movie if you haven’t had the pleasure.

Paul Giamatti never disappoints.

Chestnuts roasted by Knegative @ 10/23/2005 11:37 PM

This might be sacrilege, but I’d probably keep the collection of K.C. boxes and just throw away the expired food inside. You could always take a picture of the food and put it in the box after tossing the rotten fixin’s.

That pizza reminded me of that oatmeal that had the gimmick of the squeezeable fruit-type pack that you were supposed to draw on the oatmeal with. It was probably in stores somewhere around 15 years ago. I don’t know why that cereal stands out so vividly in my mind (I can even remember the taste of the fruit-flavored product goop), but it does. Once again X-E unlodges another burried memory that I hadn’t thought of in over a decade.

Chestnuts roasted by Gozer @ 10/23/2005 11:43 PM

Whoa – Kneg – I didn’t even read your post where you used the word "sacrilege" before I posted mine! Craziness.

Chestnuts roasted by Gozer @ 10/23/2005 11:44 PM

Gozer: That would be "Oatmeal Swirlers." As I recall, the commercial made the juicy stuff look sooooo good. Wasn’t as great in reality, but damn yo.

It’s that kind of misrepresentation that reminds me of the old Gummi Bears episode that featured taffy falling all over the town, and it looked much better than the real taffy I’d eat soon after. I wanted big wet globs of cherry red taffy. :(

Chestnuts roasted by Matt @ 10/23/2005 11:47 PM

And we both misspelled it.

Sacrilege.

I’m not the least bit surprised that I did. Hehe. I need to "moniter" that, eh Manimal? :D

Chestnuts roasted by Knegative @ 10/23/2005 11:48 PM

I noticed the double s-post and double s-typos and went ahead and fixed them. But yes, we need a spellchecker on the blog. :)

Chestnuts roasted by Matt @ 10/23/2005 11:49 PM

I wouldn’t mind devoting some time to updating that Wikipedia page…I’ve made a couple of informative posts for newbies I think might be helpful, if Google obliges.

For good microwaveable pizza, Digourno ROCKS.

We seem to be swimming in Halloween goodness over here. Had no trouble finding cereals, Jones Soda, or PB2. Heck, I even found $1 B&W horror/sci-fi DVDs, Great Pumpkin Fruit Snacks and Halloween shaped Corn Chips. Although costumes are now discounted even in Halloween shops.

What are the other 3 codes? I must have those "soundscapes"!

All the food reviews are hilarious! This article was a lot of fun to read, too:

I still think the Wendy’s 99 cent menu review was just an excuse for you to have done it, though :D

Chestnuts roasted by Eddie Lightning Frog @ 10/24/2005 1:44 AM

I can’t believe you remember that, Knegative. :)

Chestnuts roasted by The Manimal @ 10/24/2005 6:03 AM

Matt,

Yep, vegans aren’t too pleased with meat being made to look less than the animal it used to be in in general, and forming it into fun shapes to make it more appealing to kids is pretty bad in my eyes.

Geez… I thought us Catholics forced things on kids (wow… that had two meanings, and I mean both of them with my tongue firmly in cheek), but meat shaped like fun little Halloween stuff?

Okay, back to the article… then I’m going to go form broccoli into little bats in formal protest.

Chestnuts roasted by Vegan Mike @ 10/24/2005 8:57 AM

Nice article. Even though I’ve never had a taste for microwave meals, this one looks nice. Hopefully Manimal can hook you up Matt, I’m dying to see what the Dracula Fish sticks look like.
