Blueberry Beer! (Salem Part III)

So ends the Salem Series with Part 3, which is about beer or about food or about something else. I dunno, I just wanted an excuse for the animated blueberry beer image. You'll see. You'll wish you were drinking along.

In other news, I'm officially addicted to HBO's Rome, or if you're on the other side, BBC's Rome. Granted, the progression of time is really understated in a bad way (some episodes seem to span a timeframe of about two hours, while others cover a year), but screw me if this isn't Melrose Place with helmets and bloodletting. It's also clever how they play it mostly by the book as far as history goes, banking on the less-legendary main characters of Lucius and Titus to keep things unpredictable. Plus, the guy who plays Pompey starred in Hellraiser 2 as Dr. Channard. I've yet to see Kenneth Cranham in a role that doesn't require him to go headless. I can't imagine that it's been too critically heralded, as you've got to think this would be a huge turkey if the cast wasn't so terrific. Don't be a critic, be a watcher. You'll like it. You'll hate the little kid, but you'll like it otherwise.

Fox Family also had Angela Anaconda, which ruined many, many days for me. How I hated that show. Oh, how I hated that show.

Maybe you liked it, world. Maybe that’s why it was on. Maybe you hate me world. Screw you world.

Oh that’s riiiight, I remember that now! I hated that one too.

And I’m fully aware of the Heathcliff dvd set, I just wanted to bring that show up in my earlier post.

Ah, finally caught up on the Halloween posts. I just started reading them this week. Being a hurricane evacuee is awesome in some ways, such as Cal Poly giving you tons of stuff, but sucks in other ways, such as not having internet except in the crappy lab on campus. But anyway, great set of articles this year so far.

Carri: that Halloween underwear was the first seasonal thing I bought of the year, way back at the beginning of September. I got the ones with the glow in the dark eyes on the butt, it seemed somehow right.

Thanks Manimal!!! Birthday greetings to Mrs. Manimal as well!

Blueberry beer–sounds quite fascinating. But, I’m not a beer drinker. But, I’m willing to try things once, so I’d probably try it if someone enticed me to.

MOTU is great, but I think that cartoons of the 80s should be watched the way they were intended–in other words, the way we watched them. Bad sound, bad picture, original closing logo intact. The Best of DVDs kept the Filmations logo intact–what a treat!! My boyfriend just got M.A.S.K on VCD from Ebay. I think he said the commercials were intact and everything. YESSSS!!!!

Invader Norbert, my bf and I found Heathcliff on DVD at Suncoast. Glad to know that we spend out Saturday nights doing pretty much the same stuff you guys do–scoping out the TV section of video/DVD retailers. Of course, this is not EVERY Saturday night, but it was this past weekend…

Blueberry beer = very yes. Boston Beer Works (which I imagine Salem Beer Works is not too far removed from) makes a great blueberry beer as well, with blueberries in it. And the carbonation makes them float up and down like a lava lamp in a pint glass.

Also, I’m seeing that the people that weighed in on the Shipyard Pumpkin ale didn’t like it. Pity. To me that stuff tastes like pumpkin pie in a bottle. Pumpkin pie in a bottle that gets you drunk. Now really, what’s wrong with THAT? I look forward to that hitting the shelves here in Boston every year.

Uh. Fruit and beer don’t mix, kids.

I loathe beer, but the blueberry beer DOES sound interesting. It sounds like you had a pretty good time at Salem despite the weather, which is always a good thing. Actually, what I’d love to try are the Apple-Cinnamon buns. I love sweet buns, and those sound divine.

FYI: There will be a Thursday entry, but you’re not getting it till Friday. And no, that does not mean that there won’t be a Friday entry.

This has been an FYI.

Thank you for your support of my show. I will think of your article while watching Titus bang my hot Itallian wife. This will bring a smile to my face.

Boston Beer Works? Wow… I’m a 5 minute walk from there… something tells me we need to have an X-E get together in Boston sometime soon! We could get bad horror movies and kick back or something :)

Wow the HBO site says Octavian is 11 when we meet him? Now I’m really confused about the timeline.

"Speaking of which, does anyone else remember the exclusive cartoons Fox Family used to air? I’ll list the ones I can:

-Donkey Kong Country
-Bad Dog
-Monster Farm
-Walter Melon (which probably had the most original premise for a cartoon: a fat bald man and his skinny sidekick are temp workers for pop culture & historical characters)
-as well as reruns of Heathcliff & The Catillac Cats and Mr. Bogus"

I only vaguely remember Monster Farm and Mr. Bogus. Didn’t the latter have something to do with mirrors? And I remember all the others except Walter Melon.

As far as Angela Anaconda goes I used to despise that show when it first started. But for whatever reasons eventually it kinda grew on me. I think it was in part because she always referred to everyone by their full names.

Monster Rancher was cool. Angela Annaconda hurt my head. I’m sorry but the cg-Donkey Kong didn’t do it fo me. mind you i dig the "country" games, and whatnot, but i remember the old Donkey Kong from the saturday supercade, and his 1st tv apperainces on my atari 2600, and now, emulators.

There’s a gif image of a beer and blueberries serving glass and there’s a mistery too: How could you take photos with fractions of second between them for making that gif?
It’s incredible!!
:O :O :O :O

If I’m not mistaken, digital cameras can typically record short amounts of video footage.

Chestnuts roasted by Knegative @ 10/21/2005 2:47 PM

I read a newpaper item that stated that a live stage production of the musical episode of "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" was to have a performance of Hallowe’en Eve. I never really watched the show, so the only thing that crossed my mind is: Would you say Hallowe’en Eve as Hallowe’en’en?

Chestnuts roasted by kingklash @ 10/21/2005 2:55 PM

Anybody else catch "Real Ghostbusters" and the cartoon "Beetlejuice" on Teletoon this week?

Brings back so many memories.

Chestnuts roasted by Robert @ 10/21/2005 3:12 PM

Hallowe’en Eve? Wouldn’t that make it All Hallows Eve Eve?

They could just say, like, October 30th.

Or Mischief Night.

Chestnuts roasted by Monte @ 10/21/2005 3:49 PM

Those were great cartoons, Robert.

And yes, Knegative, digital cameras CAN record a short amount of video footage. Mine records up to 15 seconds.

I’ve had watermellon beer before. It was pretty good in small doses; pretty kitchy though. I’ve been too lazy to try pumpkin beer this season – maybe I’ll pick up some this weekend. Blueberry beer sounds interesting though.

Chestnuts roasted by Gozer @ 10/21/2005 3:54 PM

Heck even my phone takes video clips. I mostly use it for capturing my dog’s spazziest moments, but I like the idea that if anything newsworthy ever broke out than I’d be Johnny on the spot.
I still can’t convince myself to drink and enjoy beer, but I think I’d be into the purple, bebaubled version. I thought Orbitz was the grossest invention ever, but berries are a whole different deal.

Chestnuts roasted by squee4242 @ 10/21/2005 6:56 PM

I once got some Orbitz because I’d seen someone drinking it on TV and was like "Well holy crap, it’s a drink with…THINGS in it!" so I got it.

It was so disgusting. The little orbs were so slimy and gross, it felt like you were chugging fish eyes. I ended up throwing the rest of that crap away. I bet a homeless guy took it and drank it and magically became a millionaire.

Oh well.
