When I was 4 or 5 I went as, guess what, Darth Vader. The costume came with a pretty crapy plastic chest plate. The kind of plastic that they make party cups out of. The helmet was pretty accurate and was made out of rubber. Bantha balls

In ’89 I was Raphael. I had a big turkey pan for the shell which was made of tin. My older sister’s husband was suposed to bring some brown spray paint to make it look like a shell. He brought blue. I can’t even remember if I wore the shell or if we even tried to pant it blue. It made no sense. I was disapointed I was a ninja turtle like three years so I can;t actually remeber if I wore that or not gotta check the photo container.

Ace Frehley…took me weeks to sew it all up…included silver cloth sewn over tighty whiteys and silver spray painted snow boots…this wasn’t in the seventies either…’95 senior halloween party…friends went as Gene & Paul…we won best "group" costume

Heh. In 1989, I was also Raph. My "shell" was the lid off a giant wicker basket my mom had. I was not the most popular kid in my class, shockingly.
I think the worst costume ever was the year before that, when my cousin and I went as a two-headed monster. The bulk of our costume consisted of a garbage bag with head holes cut in the top. Our faces were painted green, and we had our arms around each other's shoulders. That leaves one hand apiece for holding loot bags.
Of course, I was five and he was four, and we weren't too coordinated, and we damn sure weren't going to let go of the candy just to catch ourselves.
Result: repeated face-plants off porches and stairs.
Our mothers, sitting in the suburban, later confessed to laughing themselves sick.

I don’t really remember any of my costumes, since it’s been around 10 years since I dressed up. I might actually get dressed up for my college’s halloween party on the 31st as Magnum PI (I just need a fake mustache to complete it), thanks to this very site.

And yay you brought back the random articles that make this site awesome. I was just reading entries from one and 2 years ago and I was wondering if you were ever gonna bring them back!

Sadly I’ve never dressed up or Tricked or Treated (?) as I live in goddamn England that has no notion of Halloween (although it’s getting better). I remember my Mum giving those corageous few who ventured to our door crying "Trick or Treat" a stern lecture on how this wasn’t America. Sighhh. I make up for it by lavishing any ToT’er who knocks on my door a huge bag of candy…and not just any old candy…I get tons of the stuff imported over just for Halloween. I love looking at the kids as they trot off wondering what the hell Baby Ruths, Good & Plenty’s or Candy Corn is. I’m trying to educate, just a corner at a time. So revel in those memories…because there’s plenty of us who wish they had ‘em.

Best? Black shirt, black pants, dark material for a cape, and a Darth Vader Mask (the kind that has a elastic string to hold it on to my big head). One of the better Vaders at my elementery that year. My eyeglasses being worn underneath filled in the eyeholes and helped keep a couple pointy parts off my face.

Worst? The year I couldn't put anything together and just ran around in street cloths with a bandana oveer my face.

This year, I'm fixing up what I got last year and buying a couple of things, and making a couple things to add to it. I might lend nephew my other costume to use. I'm trying to convince his brother to get the Pizza Slice costume and Freddy mask and glove.
