Halloween Play-Doh and Stupid E-mail!

I wasn't anticipating to have too much fun writing about the Play-Doh Halloween Trick or Treat Bag, but I kind of did. Its existence proves what some of you have said in previous polls -- these are quite specifically meant to be given out to trick-or-treaters on Halloween, serving up some nice variety for kids who can't stand having it be all about the chocolate chocolate chocolate. The Play-Doh itself isn't done up all fancy-like, but it comes in a nice bag with a ghost on it.

Also, I get really stupid e-mail:

On the other hand, I guess I can understand why.

Is that the raunchy R Crumb Cartoon about the blue cat?

Chestnuts roasted by bloodybrilliantme @ 10/08/2005 8:48 AM

hey wow! "Race For You Life, Charlie Brown!" is on MoreMax(Cinemax) right now! Not "Great Pumpkin" but at least it’s some Peanuts!

one of my sisters can’t stand any type of scary movie. When I was 7 and she was 5, I made her watch part of "The Fly" with Jeff Goldblum, and she has ever since sworn that that made her afraid to watch scary movies.

oops.

bloodybrilliantime, yes, it’s the raunchy r Crumb cartonn about the blue cat, AND IT RULES!

Chestnuts roasted by me @ 10/08/2005 9:15 AM

And remember, fritz the cat rocks the house, but it’s sequel, the nine lives of fritz the cat, should never, ever, ever be watched.

LOL, It must be bad, I’ve never even heard of it. If you’re a crumb fan you should get a hold of his biography. They did a film on him that was in pretty heavy rotation on IFC at one time. His family was one pretty messed up bunch of folks.

Wow, Race for your life, Charlie Brown – I had that on tape so long ago. When I was little I thought it was a really long, epic movie.

does anybody know about one of the cheesiest horror movie, warlock, or it’s two sequels, warlock: the armageddon or warlock: the end of innocence? You shouldn’t watch it if you’re lactose intolerant, because all of the cheese.
Thad’t make a great tagline to it.

Chestnuts roasted by me @ 10/08/2005 9:57 AM

all right! Innerspace is on Cinemax! I wonder if it will go along with Dark Side of the Moon?

Does anyone know if the Peanuts comics in the papers nowadays are reprinted in any selective order or specific years? I’ve been wondering that for a while…:)

Kidneyboy
I read somewhere they simply chose "favorites" of editors over the years.

Chestnuts roasted by bloodybrilliantme @ 10/08/2005 10:13 AM

that’s too bad. They should reprint some of the really old ones, back when all the characters looked kind of squished, sort of. I have some really old, I think, Scholastic Book Club hardcover collections. I got them from my cousins, and they were already well-worn, but I read those things to death. I still have them in my parents basement.

For more wackiness.

Chestnuts roasted by me @ 10/08/2005 10:31 AM

re ytmnd.com, in Firefox, sometimes it works, and sometimes it tells me I need a plugin, but when I go to d/l the plugin, there’s nothing to d/l…strange.

But then again, most of those sites I’ve seen are pretty retarded. I happen to like the "Mr. T. vs." pages for the more complex, intellectual humor. ;) :)

Kidneyboy: I loved that movie fuzzbucket! I named my Koosh ball after it, dont know why I was an odd ball!

Whoa have you guys heard about the controversial Smurfs ad they’re airing in Belgium? It’s an antiwar Unicef commercial, and it shows a happy Smurf village being razed by bombs and warplanes and it sounds pretty hardcore. Here’s a link: there’s a picture

Sorry, here’s the corrected link (forget the http):
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2005/10/08/wsmurf08.xml&sSheet=/news/2005/10/08/ixhome.html">"Bluebirds flutter past and rabbits gambol around their familiar village of mushroom- shaped houses until, without warning, bombs begin to rain from the sky.

Tiny Smurfs scatter and run in vain from the whistling bombs, before being felled by blast waves and fiery explosions. The final scene shows a scorched and tattered Baby Smurf sobbing inconsolably, surrounded by prone Smurfs."

Ah, that wonderful feeling of having Firsts on Google. It even better than beating your siblings on dibs for sitting in the front seat of the car.

You know Matt, you should email them back promising them a lifetime supply of kid cuisine :)

I recall when I was 5 years old Wendy’s had a Halloween toy which were small tubs of playdough inside of containers made out to be Halloween icons. I remember I got the witch and my mom made me trade it in for a pumpkin or bat since witches are demonic ;)

Hey, Matt. Wanna Do a cool thing on stuff that lights up? Is that a good Satruday Article? You be the Judge.

i don’t know if i can deal with the Smurfs getting bombed. I just dealt with/ and still having flashbacks from the parody of Seven with the smurfs and Papa smurf dancing with smurfette’s acorn-with-makeup-and-a-wig-on topped headless corpse on Robot Chicken last nite.
Now that i read the page on the link… no, i can’t, i have a messed up brain and… to make a long story short, i might watch it, someday, but not now. i need fun, i need happy, i need joy. The garfield halloween song, "what should i be" runs thru my head a ton, anyone else?

That should get YTMND to work in Firefox.

Holy crap Matt, I thought I was the only one who counted and inventoried their halloween candy ever year, and then ran it against last years haul. Points were awarded based on the rarety, size, and ability of an item to make my friends cry. Then I’d arange it, like Ron Popeal trying to make all the useless crap that came with the rotissery oven seem like more than it was… I guess it’s just nice to know that I’m not the only one, keep the faith.

Last week, some guy sent me an angry Email because I badmouthed Fuzzbucket on my site. I mean, he REALLY got ticked off. ^_^

I can only agree that Play-doh for Halloween is genius. After seeing the same stuff over and over (the same bat, the same plastic skull the same damn everything) anything that breaks the repetition makes the rest of you loot bag seem fresh again. I do a "Treat Feast" A parade in the downtown where my comic shop is and I like to mix it up a bit. I always hand out comics (about 1000) and close to 100 lbs of candy. (this thing goes from 5PM – 7PM)

Thanks to your article I’m going for mini yo-yos, bubbles (hopefully some Play-Doh) and other stuff as well as candy and comic books as long as it is Halloween "themed".

Hopefully I can damage at least one seven year old into making Halloween their favorite holiday.

Corn in the chocolate? Has the Kid Cuisine mascot changed to Mr.Hanky?
